As stated in a prior review, "One of the girls at the hostess stand was less than excited to be working." Alas, one bad apple, particularly one who misleads, can easily turn a five-star meal into a one-star event. Pretty sure we met the same hostess. In this case, a kind and considerate manager saved our evening (and this review). Rant comes first; the good follows. Traveling between time zones, we forgot to move the clock up. Regardless, we were tired, hungry, and wanted a good meal at nice restaurant. After considering several spots, we settled on Bonefish Grill. I call for reservations. Thinking it 4:30 PM, Me: "Can we get a reservation for 5 PM?" Her: "On what day?" Me: "Tonight" Her: "Well, no you don't need a reservation seeing that it's already 5:30." Me (thinking the reply was not very helpful, but recognizing my own mistake): "Well, how about 6 PM?" Her: "We're not very busy, but I'll put you down anyway so that you won't have to wait." Perfect. Life is good! We arrive promptly at 6 PM. The place is actually pretty busy for being "not very busy." But there are still quite a few empty seats. Two hostesses at the hostesses stand. Less-than-friendly greeting by the one in charge (and the one with whom I had spoke by phone). She appears not to find our reservation. After pondering what to do, she hastily hands two menus to her cohort with a table assignment, dispatching us to an empty, far-corner booth. The booth of last resort. The booth closest to the restrooms. The booth next to the emergency exit. The booth with all the unused child seats stacked against. it. Seeing empty booths in a much nicer area of the room, I do something I almost never do . . . I go back to the same hostess and ask if we can be re-seated. (While there, a waitress stopped by the corner booth. Wife: "Oh, my husband is trying to get us a different table." Waitress: "I don't blame you. It's hot back here by the restrooms and kitchen.") At the hostess stand, Me: "We really prefer not to be back in the corner by the restrooms. Could you move us to a different booth?" Her (with misstatement #1): "No. We don't have anything else available." Me: "What about one of those empty booths over there?" Her (with misstatement #2): "Those are larger booths we reserve for parties of four." Me (seeing at least one such booth with only two seated): "Well, our current seating is not acceptable." Her (curtly and with no eye contact): "Well, we have nothing else available." Me ready to simply walk out, she offers to call for the manager. Me: "Absolutely, please do." So here is the part where we would normally begin a review. The assistant manager, Alexandria, arrives. Politely and with a smile she asks how she can help. I explain. Her: "I absolutely understand. We'll seat you over here." Tension resolved. Martini and a nice Pinot Grigio on the way. We watch as an attentive and busy wait staff of 13 work the room hard. Alexandria is seen assisting other staff wherever needed. The service at this point is first class. Hot bread and dipping oil arrive. Water glasses promptly refilled, a bottle on the table in case we get dry before wait staff returns. An appetizer of "Bang Bang" shrimp is very good and recommended. Entrees of stuffed cod with scallops, crab meat, shrimp, parmesan and mozzarella cheeses, a delicate lemon sauce, and capers arrive hot, and are absolutely melt in your mouth to die for. Lightly sautéed spinach is not over-cooked (easy to do with spinach). She has the potatoes au gratin, me the whipped garlic potatoes; both very good. As we enjoyed our meal (and we did enjoy our meal), we noticed several parties were seated in the booths adjacent to ours . . . a party of two in every case. read more

This was a go-to place for me. A bit pricy but I would say we went every quarter or more. Bang Bang shrimp a favorite. Fish is top notch and the overall experience has been great in the past. So this visit was a surprise. This visit was post COVID for the first time. The pace was clean and the staff were very safe and friendly. It's the food and my pocket that took the hit. Went there on Bang Bang Wednesday but NO Bang Bang 1/2 price any more. Would have liked to know before ordering 2. Also the crab soup flavor has changed. More like a cheese soup with corn and crab instead of creamy chowder also potatoes were not cooked all the way. Fish was spot on and my new shrimp dinner was tasty. So no Bang Bang anymore for me. Had made reservations to Bonefish which I highly recommended, no sooner than I was seated my waitress was there to help me with questions I had, Food came out piping hot,drinks were spot on, food was absolutely delicious. We are frequent diners here. We also have a tradition of Christmas Eve dinner here. It's always a positive experience and our most recent meal was one of the best we've had. I had the Thermador Gnocchi and wow! The gnocchis were cooked to perfection, the lobster and shrimp were tender and the sherry sauce blended it all together for a creamy consistency. But I ordered the scallops and shrimp a couple months ago and it was all Over cooked. I tried the steak and crab cake this time. The Good: the ambiance, some of the food, nice bar scene. The Bad: service, wine selection, paper and plastic tablecloths. The Rundown: I remember this place being so much nicer when it first opened, I don't know what happened. Firstly our server had no real customer service, she just wanted to go through the motions and wasn't very nice about doing so. Next, I don't know why they chose to use paper to cover our tables, this just gives a really cheap feeling, esp when you feel the plastic tablecloth underneath. I looked at their wine selection and there is not one imported wine, they are all from California, which while there are some good ones from there, this menu didn't feature any. The food was ok, I had the wontons which I really liked and the Branzino, which was flavorful. My wife got a shrimp salad which was only so-so and not something worth getting again. They're fried with a sauce added to them. Our group of 3 ended up having a total of 3 orders of these.. just as appetizors... I ordered the grilled salmon with lemon butter sauce, and it was excellent. One of the better salmons I've had. Followed up with a brownie/ice cream which was also good. I found myself alone in Lexington and wanted a meal that was not fast food. It had been ages since I have been to this restaurant, so I decided to treat myself. I was immediately seated and my drink order was taken. The restaurant is very upscale, and the atmosphere is great for a couple to have a nice dinner. The waiter came by Almost immediately and explained the different parts of the menu. I wasn't familiar with it, so this was a big help for me. I don't like shellfish of any kind, so he immediately steered me toward the baked fish. If I had a question he couldn't answer, he made sure that he found the answer for me. I chose the Chilean Seabass, upon his recommendation, along with the sautéed spinach and jasmine rice. I couldn't decide on a dipping sauce for the fish, so he brought me out a sample of all of them. While I waited for my meal, he brought out some baked bread with olive oil and it was absolutely delicious. The bread was very fresh. When my Entree arrived, it looked and tasted absolutely delicious. The bass was tender and had a wonderful flavor. The spinach was delicious, although adding a little salt made it better. The rice was also good, but I found that the mango salsa dipping sauce complemented the rice very well. My waiter checked on me often, and was a very pleasant person. My meal came to around $40, including the tip. It is a little pricey for an every day meal, but for a special occasion, I would highly recommend. read more

We are regulars at Bonefish Grill and especially enjoy the Endless Bubbles option on Sundays. For $19.90 you get any meal on the Brunch Menu along with endless Bellinis, Mimosas, and Blackberry Sangria. Brunch options include various Eggs Benedict dishes, Omelets, and more, and on our most recent visit I chose the Surf & Turf Eggs Benedict with Potatoes Au Gratin. The Surf & Turf is basically a toasted English muffin, small portion of filet mignon and lobster, poached eggs, and Hollandaise sauce. Mine was very good except for the fact that the egg was overcooked (not runny), a fine dining no-no. I ate it with no complaint but would probably send it back if it happened the next time. The Potatoes Au Gratin were excellent. My wife chose the Western Omelet which includes chorizo (a Spanish sausage which we love), cheddar, cilantro, onions, ranchero, and lime cream sauce with a side of Asparagus. This dish was very flavorful and paired well with the Endless Bubbles. Drink choices included in the Endless Bubbles meal are the Peach Bellini, Orange Juice Mimosa, Passion Fruit Mimosa, and Blackberry Sangria. Order your next drink when they bring your current drink to avoid being without a beverage. We enjoy Bonefish for dinner, brunch, and even the occasional $6 Bang Bang Shrimp night (Wednesdays). This is a review for takeout due to COVID-19. The delivery itself was fine and the food arrived warm so travel didn't seem to impact taste. We shared the beef and ginger potstickers and I had the thermidor gnocchi as my entree. The potstickers themselves were a little undercooked and pretty flavorless but the dipping sauce was good! The toppings on the potstickers were better than the potsticker itself but unfortunately they didn't impart much flavor on the main part of the dish. The sauce for the gnocchi was pretty good and the gnocchi were cooked properly, however, the lobster on top was pretty overdone and tough which was a bummer. Pre pandemic we loved dining in at bonefish but the quality of food seems to be a bit lacking for the price. That being said, if you are doing takeout, check out the family bundles (especially Lily's Chicken) because these are a good deal for the amount of food you receive! read more

We have gone to bonefish grill in and off for years. The food has always been consistent. It is still a chain seafood restaurant, but for that type of place it is very good. The service is always good, and the menu is small but adequate. My only complaint would be the wait and seating situation, but that is likely due to the smaller size of the restaurant and the demand for seating. read more

We had Father's Day dinner at Bonefish. The crab cake appetizer had loads of fresh lumpy crabmeat, and was tasty crab, but was mushy in texture and not broiled well. Our guest wouldn't even eat it. My wife's pork chop was tasty, but was tough to chew. Her Mac-n-cheese was good. The broccoli was plentiful. My creamed spinach was tasty, but not at all warm - just room temp. My shrimp were fresh and good. My small filet mignon was perfectly medium and very tasty. So far, it's a so-so grade. And the service by Paul was excellent. But my Cole slaw.....was not Cole slaw. You know, a Cole slaw recipe contains diced cabbage with some sauce, or mayo, or even vinegar. I was served a bowl of diced cabbage. That's all it was. And I've grown enough cabbage in the garden....and made enough of my own Cole slaw, and eaten enough....to know the difference between raw diced cabbage and a Cole slaw recipe. So sorry for this low grade Bonefish, but you earned it time. read more

I just got back from 2 weeks in South Carolina and spent a lot of time eating some absolutely delicious, fresh seafood; and these scallops were by far the best that I've had! 5 large, fresh scallops topped with a pineapple salsa (incredible) and served over rice with just a touch of shaved coconut cooked in. I love the patio and happy hour. The patio is covered which makes it very nice. I went there tonight which happened to be Wednesday-- aka Bang Bang shrimp day! For $6 you can get a good size portion of this dish. The shrimp have a little kick to them and makes a great entree with a side or an appetizer to share. My wife ordered the Tenderloin and Shrimp plate. The tenderloin was dry and had a very bland taste. Would have like to see a better seasoning applied. I ordered the Wolf Fish (white fish). The taste seemed heavily based with butter. Wasn't impressed. :( The Bang Bang shrimp ordered for an appetizer was some of the best. Can't complain. Bread and olive oil is fine. Meh. If you want to pay absurd amounts of money for mediocre fish and mid shelf wines, this is the spot for you. If you are a normal person this is not for you. I've eaten here several times and it's always a company outing or some other occasion where the coordinator wants to put on some sense of sophistication, and it is "fancy" in an Olive Garden kinda way, but it's just not that good. It's like cod, salmon, tilapia, shit I can get at TGI Friday's.
