Overall, a very good dining experience. The food and service were very good. I had a Caesar salad and blackened Mahi while my wife had the Lobster stuffed shrimp. The portions are plenty for a normal adult without wasting a lot of food. The prices are very reasonable. The main dinning room is comfortable even though they seem to have more tables than I remembered. The hostess was friendly and seated us quickly. A strong 4 star experience, maybe even 4.2 stars. Never again! I was a loyal customer to this restaurant for many years, but after last night's debacle, I am DONE. So done, in fact, that I'll be telling everyone how service went from five stars to one. I've been a Bonefish customer since 2009. Previously, the management and staff has been great. We've asked for extra sauce on the side of an entree a few times, or removal of sriracha, for example. It has never been a problem. We've never been brushed off or disrespected. If there has been a problem with an order, we've always had a great rapport. It was my husband's birthday.He opted for us to order a meal and eat at home, and I agreed. Off to Door Dash we went. That was the first mistake. DD takes NO accountability or offers help when the restaurant screws up the order. And Bonefish refuse to deal with the customer's issues, even if it was a food quality issue, rather than anything DD did. We ordered two entrees, the mango sangria pork, and the Scallops and shrimp. The delivery was seamless.and the Dasher was great. Then we opened up the cartons. That was where everything fell apart. Everything was cold, and since the Dasher was waiting for the meal, this wasn't an issue where the delivery was delayed. He came right to us. The order was 65.00 before tip. Not cheap, but for a special dinner... Onto the food, such as it was. Mango sangria pork. This was ordered "medium rare." but actually came well done, and incredibly dry. Upon removal from the delivery boxes, it was 88 degrees. We could barely cut through the tenderloin. I have a picture enclosed from the piece on my plate. We specifically ordered this because we knew it would be moist, but we were substituted 3 porcine hockey pucks. I couldn't manage a bite, and neither could the birthday guy. The mashed potato was gluey, and below room temp, barely edible, but birthday boy had a few bites. St. George's bank scallops and shrimp, ordered only shrimp with this. This entree comes with a lemon butter sauce. Sometimes it is served under the shrimp and scallops, and sometimes we've gotten it on the side. The serving of the lemon butter is always enough for the seafood, which is important for an dietary condition I have. Dry protein, no sauce is not something I can do with my dietary issue. I have never had an issue with this dish, or it's cousin at Carrabba's, owned by the same company. But I did this time! The anemic looking cold shrimp had what could be termed a glazing, or a brief flirtation, but it certainly was not served with lemon butter or any other sauce. Because the shrimp had been cooked and cooled down, they were tough. If I wanted cold shrimp, I would have ordered a shrimp cocktail. Protein as inedible as the pork. The jasmine rice was dry and crunchy. Barely room temperature, it was impossible to eat. We ordered the asparagus as our other side, which is an up charge of about five dollars. Another waste of money. They'd been overcooked so much that they could bend in two, but not actually be cut. So for 65.00, all that could be consumed was mashed potato. Wonderful! I called Bonefish immediately, knowing that management there is always open to listening to issues with dishes. Boy, did I get a rude awakening! The manager was uninterested, abrupt, and incredibly rude. He kept interrupting me to tell me that he won't (not doesn't, *wont*) deal with any food quality issues because that is Door Dash's problem. I asked him how that worked, because Door Dash passes off the responsibility to the restaurant. No answer. Just "this is Door Dash's problem, not mine." He refused to listen to the quality of the food, even when I emphasized that the food quality was the issue, and that the meal was inedible. He ended the call with "Take it up with someone else, not my problem." I was stunned. Long time customer here, remember? I've eagerly doled out praise and cited servers who were fantastic. I've never been rude, or demanding. Even when an issue couldn't be resolved, I was at least respected and listened to. Bonefish, you don't care about the quality of the food your kitchen is putting out? Seriously? Inedible food is "not your problem?" You won't help or even listen to me? Not "can't" not "wish I could do something, but." Just "take it up with someone else." Well, that part I will do. So, we contacted Door Dash. Who offered us a whopping 8.00 credit for the next time we order with DD. So we lost 57.00 last night, and it isn't Bonefish's problem. Don't be me, please. There are other seafood options in the neighborhood and their managers care about the quality of the food. Where customers are respected. If you're really hankering for BoneFish, go to Fairfax, or check out Carrabbas and Outback, which share some of the same dishes. read more

Went here for Valentine's Day and it was so nice! The atmosphere was pretty. The food was excellent. The shrimp appetizers were delicious. We had an amazing server named Emily. She was so kind, funny and attentive to us despite how busy it was. Only complaint is that we had a reservation, but they said all reservations were an hour behind, so we did have to wait an hour to get seated-- even though we reserved days in advance... It was a little weird and not something I've had happen to me. Usually I can understand if reservations get pushed back by a bit, but an hour seemed a little ridiculous and made me feel like they just sacrificed our table for someone else. Luckily, the food and Emily's impeccable service made up for it, but I did take one star just because of the reservation. But, it is a welcome addition as there are few sit down restaurants in Gainesville that are open for lunch and serve a variety of seafood. On a whim we decided to give this location a try. So very happy we did. The entire experience was awesome. We called ahead to put our names on the list and were told it would be about 45 mins. The exemplary service continued into the dining room and throughout our dinner as we all ordered seafood dinner items - salmon, halibut, trout, and grouper. All four pieces of fish were so badly overcooked it was difficult to get them down. We did mention this to the server and asked her to pass this on to the chef. There can be no excuse for incorrectly cooked fish in a well known and respected seafood restaurant. Will certainly think twice before ordering a fish dish at this restaurant again. The place was really busy. I ordered the Caesar salad and crab cakes. I had them plunk the crab cakes right on top of the Caesar salad. Our food took quite a while to come out - but I was sort of expecting that as they were getting slammed all at once. When the food finally did come out - some 20 minutes later, it was really good! I used to frequent this place as the atmosphere, service and food was so good. However, I went there yesterday and was extremely disappointed. When, it finally did come out, my server apologized and automatically put it in a bowl instead of a cup. I noticed it looked rather bland, no spices, so I added a lot of pepper. When, I tasted it, it was cold, and it looked like someone just took some cold crab meat out of the refrigerator and placed on top. I told my server who offered to warm it up, which I respectfully declined, so she offered to take it off the check. Soon thereafter, my food came out, which was the Cod Imperial. This is what I came for, as this meal is usually very tasty. When, she sat the food down, I had to do a double take, because I thought the actual fish was missing. Well, it wasn't missing, it was that small! On top of that, this was not the usual Imperial dish. It was loaded with spinach, tomatoes, and unseasoned cold crab. Where was the typical seafood mixture that came on top?! Even though it didn't look appealing at all, I decided to try it, but it tasted awful. I couldn't even eat it. I ate the mashed potatoes which was mediocre and the Brussel sprouts which were pretty good. My son got the fish and chips and didn't eat the fish because he said it didn't taste good. When the server asked how the food was at the end of the meal, I told her it wasn't good and that it was not the same as it normally is. She apologized and offered to gives us a free dessert which we accepted. The dessert was pretty good, although they ran out of whip cream. We were there on a Friday night, around 6.30p, and they weren't too terribly busy at this point. But I dislike tilapia and my other two choices - tacos and fish/chips - were made out of tilapia) and my husband had the bang bang shrimp. Do yourselves a favor if you're of legal drinking age: get the ocean trust martini. It. Is. Amazing. It's pineapple and mango with vodka and lemon juice with a jalapeño... And that little jalapeño slice gives the right amount of heat and kick. The flavors work so well together and if I hadn't gotten so drunk off of one, I would've ordered three more (lightweight here). One last note to management -- get that flickering light over the two top at the very end of the partition near the bathrooms fixed.
