Blue ridge dinner
Jeff H.

My wife and I ate dinner there on 8/9/2025. My wife had crab legs, sweet potato fries and coleslaw slaw. Crab legs were sweet, tender, perfectly cooked, delicious. She liked the sweet potato fries. She liked the coleslaw slaw but to me it was too sweet. It needed some vinegar or lemon juice. I had the blue ridge dinner. The scallops were cooked perfectly. The shrimp were overcooked, rubbery. The crab cake was tasty, not the best crab cake I've had. The fish was overcooked and under seasoned. The clamp straps were OK, couldn't really taste any clam flavor. The tarter sauce was tasty. The cocktail sauce was tasty. I was disappointed in the shrimp and the fish. If I went back, I'd get the crab legs. Our server was excellent.

Mango mahi mahi

We had high hopes for this restaurant, and don't get me wrong we will go again to give it a second chance and someone invites us because we will not make the drive ever again. They were super busy when we were there and it took almost an hour to get our food. Our entrees came out cold and I had to ask the waitress to please have mine remade. They said they made me a brand new entree but I took a bite before I returned it and the bite I took was still in the flounder I got lol. Ambiance was casual just like any seafood spot, it's in a small building so it's pretty cramped but when you want crabs and shrimp it's not a big deal. Our boys liked their entrees one of my boys got the mango mahi mahi and my other boy got the shrimp and crab leg entree. Overall an ok experience, but we aren't dying to come back. If we go back it will only be for shrimp and crabs and nothing else honestly.

Snow crab legs

We absolutely love Blue Ridge Seafood!!! Anytime I'm craving seafood, I come to Blue Ridge. My absolute favorite is their snow crab legs. This time I've ordered 1.5 pounds and I enjoyed every pieces of it. They come with two sides and my recommendation is their sweet potato fries. They also serve some hush puppies as well and they are always so delicious! This time we've ordered oysters for the first time and I was beyond impressed!! Not only were they impressively large, but they were also incredibly fresh and flavorful. I've had oysters at other places in Nova but Blue Ridge truly stands out. I'm definitely coming back for more oysters! Depending on the time of day this place can be very busy, so we always try to go a little earlier for dinner. The servers are always attentive and nice. Inside is pretty spacious with lots of seatings. Love it!

We decided to try this place on a whim because I was craving hush puppies again--and no, sis isn't pregnant, I just get these random cravings and won't stop until they're satisfied. Sadly, the hush puppies here were more like plain fried cornbread balls--pretty bland. That said, the rest of the meal was tasty and fairly priced, hubs had soft shell crab, he loved it and I had popcorn shrimp with onion rings - I would likely pass on those next time as well. Our server was great and really helpful once we mentioned it was our first time visiting. The place itself is simple and no-frills, but if you're looking for decent seafood at a good price, it's definitely worth checking out. I saw other tables ordering trays of crabs that looked and smelled amazing.

This place was absolutely packed on Mother's Day weekend. Despite that, we were able to get seated immediately by opting to eat outside, in their open-air covered seating area. Our server was friendly and jovial, cracking jokes with us but she also made sure we were taken care of. The food was just alright. I don't like seafood so I didn't go in with high expectations, but I figure if you can fry a fish you can fry chicken tenders too. Which they can, but they were pretty plain. The rest of my party had similar thoughts - food was alright but nothing special. But if you want seafood, and a LOT of it, then Blue Ridge Seafood Restaurant is definitely the place to go.

They were slammed. And I think they did a great job with the demands of the patrons. Let me explain the 1 star rating. My friend raised her glass to take a sip of her cocktail. The entire bottom broke from the top and spilled the contents over 4 people. Half my pants leg was covered. Another had her purse drenched. Another her shoes were soaked. The one with the drink - her entire pants was soaked. My friends husband talked to the bar manager and he said he would comp us (4) a drink. So we told the bartender what our friends husband said. The bar manager came over and said he is only going to comp my friends drink that exploded. We all looked at him like "WTF just happened?" His bar back cleaned up the mess around us and saw all the liquid on the ground and stools. I don't even think they check to see if we were ok. The 3 of us paid our tabs and left. I haven't been to Tiki Thai much this year but when I had, I never had an issue. The service from the bar manager was appalling to say the least. There are so many restaurants in Reston Town Center that we can spend our money at and we will from now on.

The drinks are kind of pricey otherwise, up to $25 for a cocktail! But the happy hour deals are amazing! We started with a rum punch bowl for $22 and holy crap it was strong! It's also so cute and ready for Instagram, and every time one of us lifted it to drink we felt like Poseidon. From there were got some apps to share. The nachos were pretty good and had a unique flavor profile, and you can't beat $12 for nachos in DC! We continued with $5 mini frozen drinks and wow were those a deal! They were super strong and also super cute! A friend got the Pain Killa and again for $9 it was a steal and the most delicious drink we had. Someone also came by with free Jell-O shots and they matched the mood of our night! The whole bar is fun with quirky decorations and great views. I'm sure it gets really busy during nice weather. Plan for it and come for the best deals during happy hour.

But what landed me on a 3 was value, specifically for my shrimp po boy which, at $18, was literally 3 shrimp on a hot dog bun. See the pic. It comes with broccoli but I had them sub tots. I just have a hard time with the idea that some broccoli, a single hot dog bun and 3 shrimp are worth $18. The fried rice was a much better value in both portion and quality and our s'mores platter was pricey at $18 but also quite ample. Drinks were strong. Not necessarily good. But strong. So whether these drinks were 3 or 4 stars for you depends on your goals. Overall, is this somewhere I would go out of my way to visit? No. Is it a chill easy hang if you're already in the area and need somewhere to drink while waiting to do something else at the Wharf or if you work in that area? Sure. Do I like that it is chiller and less bougie than the rest of the Wharf? Absolutely. I just feel like your best bet is to come and have a beer.
