This is such a great restaurant! I wanted to get their vegetarian pasta which for some reason, was off the menu. They used to have it on there but I guess it didn't make an appearance on the lunch menu. I requested our waitress to get it for me and they accommodated me right away. It was a delicious Blend of seasonal vegetables and squash with pappardelle's pasta. I'm not a big fan of this particular noodle but they did an excellent job with the robust flavors and generous butter. Yes, it's not easy on the tummy. It "feels" healthy because it has all those vegetables but it sure is rich! The table got fish tacos: fresh, flavorful and beautifully plated. The tuna was pretty great too. We went in for lunch around 2pm on a Saturday. I ordered a salmon superfood salad and my friend ordered fish and chips. It was not busy at the restaurant, yet it took 50 min for our food to come out. This may be one of the more difficult reviews I've written, Bonefish is an absolute dichotomy between "top shelf" excellent, and somewhat lacking.... I would absolutely recommend dining here, but with a caveat to be careful what you order....... Our party of 8 (ranging in ages between 4yo and 65 yo) had a Friday night 6:30 reservation... We were seated immediately upon arrival. The restaurant was packed full of patrons and they had stuffed as many tables into the dining room as they possibly could to handle the volume..... Our server was 100% on point getting use started with drinks and bread for our table. The bread was fresh baked and served warm.... We adults had to fight with the kids (who were devouring it voraciously) to get any.... Our server saw how fast it was disappearing and without a word being said brought out more..... We ordered several orders of the Bang Bang Shrimp and the Calamari which we all shared.... The 4yo loved the calamari as much as the rest of us.... It was fried to absolute perfection and served with a dipping sauce that complemented it while not overpowering it. The shrimp were equally well prepared (cooked through, but still slightly al dante..... and flavored to perfection)... Luckily the shrimp were not a favorite for the kids (they don't do "hot") which just meant "more for the adults"....... Despite the fact that the restaurant was packed full of patrons the apps arrived quickly...... At this point we ordered entrees... which again arrived in short order, delivered by our server and an entourage of assistants..... Again, our server was totally on point and was genuinely concerned that we were all happy... The assistants were obviously trainees, and while they all had great attitudes, were not versed in serving techniques such as not reaching across another patron to serve a dish... (in their defense, the restaurant was so packed it was a bit difficult to get around). The kids both got mac & cheese and french fries.... They loved the fries, but both refused to eat the mac & cheese (I have never seen a kid turn their nose up at mac and cheese before), but my wife and I also got the M&C as sides and agreed that it was not that good (They tried to go "fancy" with the recipe, and it just didn't work that well)..... Our server immediately replaced the M&C on the kids meals with fried shrimp which made them both happy.... My wife and I both ate ours, but agreed it was not an item we would order again....... My other side was a (pesto) risotto.... a full flavored dish that by itself was excellent, but when paired with the tomato sauce topped pork chop that it came with, the flavors were just too powerful and did not belong on the same dish..... As for the pork chop, it was a beautiful chop, cooked to perfection.... but if I ever order it again I would request they do not top it with the tomato sauce.... My wife had the steak and crab cake.... She ordered her steak "well done"... which to me ruined the steak right from the start.... but even she agreed that her steak was over cooked beyond even her liking..... My daughter in law ordered the trout.... it was cooked to perfection, but had a highly flavorful herb crust that just didn't work for a delicate tasting piece of fish...... My son in law ordered the brussel sprouts as one of his side dishes..... He said they were the best he has ever eaten (I'll have to take his word for this, I never met a brussel sprout I've liked.... and didn't opt to try them). This visit was to celebrate my wife's birthday and my daughter in law had made a special cake for her..... They were very accommodating, keeping the cake in the kitchen till they served it as our desert..... Our server brought it out, followed by her entourage... one person with a stack of plates and the other carrying tablespoons to eat with..... LOL, who knows... they might have run out of forks.... but it just seemed like a great training opportunity for the assistant server in question....... All in all, it was a very pleasurable evening, and I will absolutely return to Bonefish again.... I would be honored if we had the same server on our next visit.... she was terrific...... Came here for lunch on a Friday with a colleague. It is not the first time I have visited a Bonefish Grill or this particular one either. This location is really convenient for me, so when I want fish or seafood I come here. Today I ordered Tilapia Imperial, which is stuffed with shrimp, scallops, crabmeat, mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses + lemon capes butter. It was really really good! (Some part of tilapia that was just tilapia and not stuff could be a bit plain but it was still very good!) My colleague ordered tilapia and she said she liked it a lot as well. They were pretty busy during lunch so service wasn't super fast, but still pretty decent! Definitely will come again, as usual. read more

Took at least 15 minutes for server to show up ready to take drink orders. Then, another 10-12 minutes to receive one cocktail and one glass of wine. Finally, the bread shows up. Another 10 minutes for the bottle of wine. Server broke the cork trying to get it open, then called someone to help. The table is already WAY too small for the few things that have arrived. Okay, now we've been siting for 30 minutes. Finally, he shows up to take our orders. Two of us wanted an advertised special 3 course meal. The server knew nothing about it, and had to get the information from another employee. So we waited some more. Finally, we get some food. Our salads arrived. 3 minutes later the appetizers arrive. Huh? And my salad is wrong. Then, before we could finish the appetizers and the salads (my correct salad hadn't even been delivered yet), the entree's arrive. The dirty plates from the appetizers and salads remained on the table for much too long. Desert time. Two of our party had desert included in their meals. We asked to get them take out. The checks were delivered, totally wrong. Did anybody order (this glass of rose??? Nope.) We straightened out the checks, which arrived a second time still wrong. On the third go round, the checks are correct, and we give our credit cards. NOW desert shows up, on plates, not in the requested take out containers. Through the entire meal, we heard "I'm sorry" from the server infrequently, making it seem like he didn't even realize that he was doing his job VERY poorly. Went on a Friday evening and they were booked (surprise surprise) It was a spontaneous date for me and my significant other so we didn't make a reservation. Tip: make one!!! Anyhow, we ate at a table in the bar area because we're not patient enough to endure waits. Even the bar area was pretty packed. I was a tad bit worried that our server would have a hard time handling the crowd but I was pleasantly surprised. Our server was very friendly and checked up on us on the regular to make sure we had everything we needed and wanted. The managers even came around to make sure we were happy. I was not expecting this kind of exceptional service on such a busy evening. Food was phenomenal. My ahi tuna steak was perfectly rare and tender. The herb pesto sauce I chose for it complemented the dish well! Side note, they have various kinds of sauce you can choose from so if herb pesto isn't your thing, that's cool cause they have other options! The bang bang shrimp was the bomb. It had a crispy texture and the shrimp itself was absolutely juicy. The sauce they have on the shrimp is sweet and tangy- I wish I could pour that sauce over everything I eat. Bonefish is a solid chain. I am just going to start out by saying that I don't like places where you cannot make reservations and the wait is 45 minutes. I also don't enjoy eating in loud establishments. When I overlook these two things, our meal at the high-top by the door was an ok experience. Gusts of wind coming in and anxious diners hovering near the table did not make for a fantastic experience. Our server was very gracious and kind and took great care of us. I enjoyed the ceviche very much and the seafood and guacamole were fresh. I also made note of how the kind bartender came to the table to pour a beer in front of us in the proper glassware and not in a chilled glass. I ordered the Spicy Tuna bowl with rice, siracha, avocado and mango salsa. This is a very tasty and healthy bowl and I can see why it is a Bonefish favorite. Daniel had the Bang Bang tacos but something was not right on Saturday night. On Sunday morning he was violently ill with food poisoning and there was something in his tacos or in his side salad. That is the only thing we can link it back to so I am not sure I will be coming back if the food quality is poor and felt bad that he got so sick. Normally my experience at Bonefish have been better and I hope we can overlook the food poisoning and noise next time and try another dining time or location. read more

Not-so-fresh from an eight hour cross country flight, I stumbled into North Carolina for the first time last week. It was dark out, the woods were surrounding my hotel ominously (Embassy Suites, Cary) and I was in full-on foraging mode. Ruth's Chris seemed a cop out, so I tried out the Bonefish. Eating alone, in a foreign state, in a crowded restaurant at night is not one of my favorite things, but I've found that near anyone can sit stag at the bar and not look like an outcast. So sidle up to the bar, I did. The bartender was very nice, and delivered the specials without too much flair or a lack of understanding of what they were selling. Just enough. Hawaiian spearfish seemed odd for the east coast, but served with a side of...was it au gratin? Whatever, it was tasty. She recommended it, and I was happy for the pairing. Paired with a couple of glasses of a warmly flavored malbec, and the whole experience was brief, filling, and well deserved if I say so myself. Went there recently with a group of coworkers from out of town at their request. It had been about 8 years since I last ate at Bonefish and this trip reminded me why. I ordered the salmon with garlic mashed potatoes and Jasmin rice. It all arrived to our table cool/lukewarm and since I don't like or trust sending food back, I didn't. The salmon was bland and didn't seem to be cooked to a safe temperature as it was slimy and the Jasmin rice was crunchy, not soft. The rice actually hurt my teeth to chew it. The potatoes were disappointingly bland and cool to the touch. Now days later, I've been extremely sick and am fairly certain it was the meal at Bonefish that caused it. I can't think of anything else that would have caused my GI illness for the last 2-3 days. I checked Google reviews and saw a similar complaint from another patron recently. Service and environment was great, hence the two stars, but the food left a lot to be desired. I'll NEVER eat at Bonefish again as there are so many better local options! read more

I so loved all three of our experiences at Bonefish. We love the Rockfish Piccata & Shrimp, the salmon and the Baja fish tacos in particular. Man where to start. The service here is the worse I've ever seen, and I've been in the service industry for 8 years, some of it was actually at the Bonefish of Pineville. Our server was unfriendly from the start to the finish. She didn't crack a smile or give us more than a second of her time until the bill came. She failed to attend the majority of our needs, because she was too invested in finishing her side work. Mind you the restaurant didn't close for another two hours. I was seated without silverware and I didn't realize until about five to ten minutes after the appetizer came, because I was chatting with my girlfriend. After I waiting a little while I tried to grab a servers attention as he was walking by. I simply said " excuse me" to get his attention, and he started walking faster and yelled " I'm off the clock". What a jerk? I don't care if I'm off the clock or whatever, I'll still address a customer. It could have been anything; In this case it was such a simple request. I love bonefish. We typically go on Wednesdays - when its half off bang bang shrimp. Lots of appetizers and you will love them all. I recommend the bang bang shrimp, scallops wrapped in bacon, and the calamari. Martini's are always made very well and Ive never had a complaint. The service is quick and nice - we've never had bad service here - ever. even when it is jam packed. You cant go wrong with the Imperial Longfin - it is DELICIOUS. We ordered bang bang shrimp tacos - phenomenal and reheated so well. Sauce was on the side so no soggy shrimp. We also ordered the signature pasta with chicken - the quantity was way more than 4-6 people. This was good but we probably wouldn't order this one again, mainly because we loved the other 2 so much that this one just wasn't a contender. Still good! WE went for our 25th Wedding Anniversary dinner. Upon our arrival the hostess wished us a happy anniversary! It was very crowded that night and the dining room was full with a 13 party set up pending arrival. Never the less the manager brought us an extra chair for my purse and jacket, and extended our very small table a bit for our comfort. The food melted in our mouths, the dip for the bread, the bread, the coconut shrimp and my filet - all perfect, as was my husband's salmon. Tonight it took over 45 minutes for our drink order to arrive. The food took a relatively long time as well. Our waitress was apologetic and embarrassed that she had nothing to bring to us. When the food arrived I was told that the halibut was delicious but the spinach, potatoes, asparagus, and crab meat were all mediocre. (We didn't mention it to our server because she was already feeling bad.) We were told that the manager was going to stop by but she never did. We overheard the couple next to us waiting on a manager and they were told twice that she'd be out in a few minutes. Eventually, they gave up. We were told that both the general manager Dori and another manager Janet were on duty. Neither the food nor the service was up to Bonefish standards tonight! If this had been our first visit to a Bonefish Grill we would probably never go back. When the sun was shining in through a glass door and reflecting the building numbers on the wall, we did have fun joking that we must have been waiting a lot longer than we thought. LOL.
