After her vet appoinments, I often take her to the Pet Planet two doors down because she loves sniffing around and I like to buy her a special treat after the vet. It's not my favorite place to go as I know that the owners dog is reactive (and roams free around the store), but we hadn't really had any problems yet, so off we went. We open the doors to go inside of Pet Planet Granville, and before we are even through the door, this black Scottish Terrier dog named "Indigo" bit my dog in her face. I screamed and yanked my dog away, and the owner laughed, "Hahaha, oh Indigo!" I left the building and went into my car and checked over my dogs face. She did not have any visible puncture wounds. This does not mean that she wasn't bit, it just means that the bites did not break the skin. Regardless, both myself and my dog were really shook up. I sat in my car for several minutes a bit bewildered on what I should do. I knew this wasn't an isolated incident. I had heard rumors from the vet clinic about Indigo biting other dogs/people, and the owners response of laughing when it happened was so inappropriate. I've been a regular customer here for years, and something needed to be said. I walk back in to this Pet Planet, not yelling but just stating matter of factly - "I dont think its really acceptable that your dog just bit my dog in the face and you laughed about it." In that moment something in the store owner switched. He began screaming that "MY DOG DIDNT BITE YOUR DOG! AND I DIDNT LAUGH ABOUT IT EITHER!" I said "Yes he did and I know it's not an isolated incident!" He screamed that I am a "stupid f***king b**tch" and other obscenities at me so I walked out of the store, and he followed me. I went to open my car door, and this man walked up inches away from my face (extremely threateningly) saying he has on camera that his dog didn't bite my dog and "I dare you to come back inside" He was standing so close to me, as if he was getting ready to assault me, so I said "What are you doing?" and he again said "I dare you to come back inside, you stupid f***ing b**ch" - which he repeated several times. His demeanor was extremely threatening. I got into my car and he got right up next to my car window and continued yelling profanities at me. I really did want to take my dog to the vet right then to have her assessed properly, but frankly I was too scared to get out of my car again. I left and called animal control. I spoke with an officer and told her what happened She called him that evening and he said "I have video proof that my dog didn't bite her dog". I said I would love to see this video as well. The next day the officer went to this store and asked to see the video footage and he said "I don't actually have any cameras. And that didn't happen. I caught her STEALING from my store and kicked her out, that's what happened". The audacity of this man! It was a bold LIE and obviously this guy realized how badly he messed up and needed to make up a lie to try and not seem like such an aggressive lunatic! Thankfully the police DONT believe him. The officer told him "You have multiple one star reviews online stating that your dog Indigo has bit other dogs" and he said "those people were all stealing too". The officer told me that she said "really, they were all stealing and then went out of their way to leave you a review with the same aggressive dog story? That doesn't add up" Note that he didn't come up with the story that I was stealing until the second time he spoke to the officer (the day after the incident). The officer I spoke to said "This guy just has a story for everything." I am so beyond upset and angry by this entire situation. And I am terrified now that I have to switch veterinarians because I don't want to see this guy in the parking lot again, as he is obviously unhinged and I do not want to risk my dogs or my own safety again. This Pet Planet Granville has numerous 1-star reviews as well as other non reported incident's detailing similar stories. This is NOT okay!!

Every time we visit, we only have to walk in and we are immediately acknowledged and helped with our purchase (if we ask for help that is). We have saved tonnes of money buying foods that are comparable to veterinarian brands but are actually more healthy because they are grain free. Despite the store being small, the selection of dog and cat food is great. I only use pet shop....unless I am unable to.

I believe they also do grooming in the back, but I haven't used them yet. Price and selection of foods seems to be better. This is another service I don't need as much, but it's nice to find the furchildren nice little goodies like Turducken wet food. What I appreciate them most about this place is the quality and price of their merchandise. I noticed the price of their cat trees have gone up, but they are still far superior to Pet Smart. Pet smart 'stack' their levels, where as the ones you buy here are 'staggered'. They sell buckle and better breakaway collars for less, with no stupid bells on them. Oh--and check out their awesome selection of all natural dog-treats!

Aside from the great service, they unfortunately do not have the best selection of rabbit food (or any "selection" whatsoever). They sell one brand of pellets and generic timothy hay. While I prefer other brands of pellets, I have bought theirs in a pinch. The biggest problem is they are consistently low on stock. I I've come in some days to find they are completely out of hay and litter. I know rabbits are more of a specialty pet than cats or dogs but regardless, no one wants to drive all the way to the store to find they don't have any supplies. I stop by when I'm in the area, but it isn't worth making the trip there for me. I'm sure cat and dog owners don't have this same issue with Global. In fact, they have a really good selection of organic/specialty canned dog foods. I picked up some "thanksgiving" dinners for my family's pooch not too long ago and he loved them.
