Chicken Katsu
Lynn K.

Spotted this place, next to UPS, and decided to check it out spur of the moment. Ordered Pork Belly Buns and Katsu Chicken. Overall it wasn't terrible and I might give them another try if I happen to be nearby. The katsu was crispy (even after driving 20 minutes), slightly dry from overcooking but the taste was fine. The coleslaw it vomewas sweet and tangy and crisp. The rice is plain white. The real disappointment was the pork belly buns. The buns were soft and tasty, the cucumbers crisp and the sauce was ok, more Americanized than Korean. The pork belly was incredibly tough and dry. I love pork belly and I only tried 2 before I gave up. I don't know if it was the way it was sliced or if it was undercooked but I've never had tough belly before.

Finally decided to try Bonchon for the 1st time. Wish they have more flavors in general. The service here is great. We ordered the Seoul Sampler which came with 2 drums, 4 wings, Bulgogi Fries, Pork Potstickers, Korean Street Corn and Coleslaw and ranch for dipping sauce. Got the Soy Garlic sause for the chicken. Everything was good, but the chickens were a little over cooked!!! Steamed Shrimp Dumplings were okay came with spicy mayo, which didn't taste like it. Pickle Radish could use a lot more vinegar. Overall I give this a 3.5 stars and round it up to 4!!!

Ten piece chicken wings with the wrapper seafaring the two flavors, soy garlic and Korean bbq

Watching Korean series can influence your food craving. Today was Korean fried chicken. Getting food delivery can be hazardous to your health as well. Without getting up from your lounge chair you can order food just like at some theaters. I had ordered the ten piece chicken wings with Korean bbq and soy garlic flavors; and Korean donut and sauce. The food was prepared and delivered sooner than specified. It was crispy and warm. The chicken was nicely package and labelled well indicating the flavoring. Although I had enjoyed the crispiness, I couldn't taste the difference between the two. There were a couple of drumlettes included on one side that threw me into a loop as I was expecting wings only. Nonetheless they were enjoyable. Finally, the dessert, Korean donut that intrigued me enough to ordered it. Essentially, an elongated twisted donut with sugar and cinnamon. Dipped in the sauce, I can't say that I enjoyed it with or without it better. Most importantly, I couldn't determined the what made it Korean. I like donuts and in this case, I like this one as well. I would try other flavored chicken and dishes here in the future.

I stopped by Bonchon to try their chicken sandwich with the soy garlic flavor. It looked promising, crispy thigh, shiny sauce, soft bun, but the bite didn't quite live up to the look. The chicken was a bit overcooked, so it lost that juicy pull you want when you bite into fried dark meat. It's basically a fried chicken thigh on a brioche bun with coleslaw and sauce. Simple setup. The issue is in the build, mine was wrapped so the meat was hanging out the front, and once you unwrap it, the back half was all bun. You gotta push the chicken forward yourself just to balance it out. The flavor was okay, sweet, garlicky, that signature Korean-style double fry that keeps it crisp, but overall it didn't hit that "wow" factor. It's decent for what it is, but nothing that makes you crave another round. If you come here, the wings are probably the real play. That's where Bonchon earns its name. The sandwich? Crunchy, yes. Memorable? Not really.

Something was off. I've been to other Bonchon locations, and this one was not it. It didn't taste right. It was lacking the flavors I greatly antifipated from Bochon. I also ordered wings and they gave us combo (wings and drums). The servers seemed young, but were nice and helpful. A little disappointing with our food here.

Nice spot to have lunch since they have lunch specials! Nothing super amazing but good if you're looking for a quick bite. Not sure if I'd dine outside of their lunch special though.

Not to happy with my experience, I've heard a lot about this place, expected more , but after trying it..I probably won't be going again. I placed an order for me and my family. Other food was good, but the chicken tenders seem like they were sitting under a light too long, or maybe done like 2 days prior. The service was fast. Placed an order online; and then got a call right away from the restaurant, stating that I will see two chargers on my card. And one will be refunded a couple of days later. For one that is inconvenient. How was my $60 meal, turn to $120? I got charged by the ordering app: then again at the restaurant? What if it was my last $60? They need to take that off. Seems shady. I'll be on the look out for a refund forsure, The place seemed chill.

Coleslaw

Most inconsistent bonchon location in bay area. Unfortunately this is the closest bonchon when we are craving it. The wings are always hit or miss -- usually overly fried and dry. The sides are really bad. The radish is often soggy and tastes off. The coleslaw is sometimes old looking... Laziness to not make their coleslaw on a daily basis -- look at how brown it is! The location is in the sketchier part of san leandro. There is plenty of parking but you will see homeless around.

Good food with nice service. Too bad competing with wing stops next door. Plenty of parking.

Are they open today (New Years)? I just called but no one picked up or if they're just busy. Don't wanna drive there & end up it's closed today

Yes

Are they open on Sunday? And if so what are the hours?

Yes, they are open on sundays. I would assume they are the same as Saturday hours. They are also open all day now instead of closing after the lunch hour.

Are they open on Thanksgiving and what is their phone number?

They're closed.

What are the soft opening hours? The photos posted do no justice for their sign with the day and times...

From what it looks like on a recent photo, it seems that they are opened for lunch from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm (M-F), dinner starting at 5 pm to 9:30 pm (M-Th), with them opening 30 mins later for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays (10 pm close) and they… Read more

Whats your phone number i will pick up some order?

They do not have a phone yet. I asked the same question last night. The gal I spoke to said they expect to have a phone in the next few weeks.

Are you open on Sunday's?

Doesn't look like they open on Sundays from their hours.

I originally came to Fusion Delight because of the purple interior…read more Seriously. The giant lotus chandeliers, the deep violet lighting, the old-school banquet hall atmosphere - it immediately reminded me of the large Cantonese restaurants that used to define family dining in the Bay Area years ago. But after eating here during a packed weekend dinner service, I realized the real attraction is not the decor. It is the operational consistency. The dining room was completely full, with a long line of people still waiting outside. Under that kind of pressure, many large Chinese restaurants start losing control somewhere: fried dishes soften, stir-fries lose wok hei, food arrives unevenly, service becomes rushed. Fusion Delight somehow keeps the system together. And what impressed me even more was that the staff never became impatient. Even with the restaurant running at full capacity, the servers stayed friendly, patient, and organized. No chaos, no attitude - just steady service under pressure. That is not easy in a restaurant this size. The Mongolian beef was the first thing that stood out. Instead of thin slices hidden under sauce, the beef here is cut unusually thick and long - some pieces nearly two inches. Thick-cut beef is risky because once overcooked it immediately turns tough, but here the meat stayed tender while still carrying proper wok sear and caramelization. That tells me the kitchen understands heat control and timing. The crispy pork intestines were even more impressive. These were clearly braised first, then fried before the final stir-fry. The outside kept its gelatin-rich texture while the inside still carried fat and aroma, but without the unpleasant odor that ruins this dish at weaker restaurants. Even people who normally avoid intestine dishes could probably eat this version comfortably. That level of cleaning and pre-processing matters. The braised lamb with skin was another old-school banquet dish done correctly. The lamb was soft without collapsing, while the skin still retained structure. More importantly, the prep work was meticulous -- no gamey smell, no rough trimming, no shortcuts. The sea cucumber and pork tendon dish also showed strong banquet-kitchen fundamentals. The pork tendon had clearly been oil-expanded beforehand, giving it that proper soft and elastic texture instead of rubbery chewiness. The sea cucumber still retained bite and structure. The Singapore-style rice noodles and scallop egg white fried rice were textbook Cantonese banquet staples. The rice noodles stayed dry and separated while still carrying wok aroma and oil fragrance. The scallop egg white fried rice looked simple, but every grain remained distinct and lightly coated without clumping together. That level of consistency under volume is difficult. Even the red bean dessert soup at the end was handled carefully. The red beans still held their shape instead of dissolving into paste, while the sago remained fully intact and translucent. Most restaurants stop caring once dessert leaves the kitchen. Fusion Delight clearly does not. And honestly, that may be the best way to describe this restaurant overall. Fusion Delight is not trying to be trendy. It is not trying to become minimalist fine dining. It is not trying to be social-media bait. This is a high-volume Chinese banquet restaurant operating with old-school Cantonese production discipline. Hot food arrives hot. Fried dishes stay crisp. Wok hei survives peak hours. Plating still looks intentional during a packed dinner service. That kind of consistency is harder than people think. And somehow, inside a giant purple dining room filled wall-to-wall with families, they make it work. - Dr. C Purple room approved. Wok heat calibrated. Banquet discipline detected. Consistency at scale = correct.

Visited here with my friends on a Wednesday morning…read more The restaurant opens at 10:30 AM, and we arrived a bit early--there were already a few customers waiting outside. However, within about an hour, the restaurant was almost full. Even though it wasn't the weekend, it was still very busy. This is one of my favorite dim sum spots because the food is consistently delicious, especially the siu mai--it's a must-try! The service is fast and friendly, which makes the experience even better. There is also plenty of parking, which is a big plus. The restaurant is spacious, with beautiful purple lighting that really catches the eye. The high ceiling also makes the space feel very open and comfortable. Although this place doesn't have the highest ratings on Yelp, it's definitely still very popular and worth visiting.

Our total for 2 entrees and 2 drinks was $60 before tip. We ordered two drinks (orange juice and an iced mocha) which were provided promptly. The orange juice was a little too sour and my mom had to add some sugar to improve the taste. The iced mocha was good, not too sweet. One thing to note the wait for our food took much longer than expected, and it may have been due to how busy it was. My mom opted to order the salmon yuzu benedict and I got an egg plate (scrambled eggs) with a side green salad. My mom mentioned the potatoes lacking salt but she enjoyed the salmon benedict.
