First time trying Bonchon Service was extremely slow. Everyone in the building had excessive wait times for their food. Not busy at all. We ordered the wings and drums. Split the sauce half spicy and half soy garlic. They won't let you order sauce on the side- seemed strange. Ranch only. Not my favorite but if that's how they do it, all good. It wasn't bad. Loved the crunch on the wings and the spicy was really good. Decent heat and great flavor. Soy garlic was cool but probably wouldn't order again. Next time I go it will be all wings and all spicy flavor. If the service was better it would be an easy 4 star. Maybe an off night but we will see on the next visit. read more

We came on a weekday in the evening. We ordered the drum sticks and wings in the flavors soy garlic for the drums and spicy for the wings. The service was extremely slow with service of food , drinks and even napkins. We waited about 40 minutes for our food and about 20 - 25 minutes for our napkins and straws. I have visited this location appx 3-4 times and opted for Uber Eats delivery, this time. Never any complaint of the freshness and flavor of chicken. I am extremely disappointed in the upcharge of the price of food items when ordering online vs in person. I understsnd all of the frivolous service charges and delivery costs but to mark up each food item an additional $2-$3 on top of the delivery and service fees are criminal! The waiter was nice enough to suggest which flavors were highly recommended and how many would be filling enough for the amount of people there were. I ordered the buns, soy garlic and fries. I think it's time to update my review on Bonchon Pearland. I gave them a go years ago when it opened and have not been back since. It just didn't wow me and there's just too many other options in our city to go back to mediocre food. A friend and her husband are Bonchon fanatics who go often so I reluctantly decided to join them for dinner. We came around dinner time on a Friday night. Parking in the area sucks but not their fault. We were able to be seated right away, but shortly after, it got packed. They also have a bar set up, but we didn't partake in happy hour or drinks. Customer was great. I'm a big wing guy. It's one of my comfort foods. Korean fried chicken is on another level when it comes to wings. They usually twice fry with a light, but extremely crispy coating. Bonchon nailed it this time. I got the small wing and drum combo. For the price paid, I felt I got my money's worth when they served the large plate of chicken. The drums were large and juicy. The wings were kind of inconsistent as far as size goes. I got their original mix of soy garlic and spicy. I loved both flavors. This time around, the flavors were very pronounced and tasted even better as leftovers. The spicy was my favorite though. The combo came with a side of slaw or pickled radish. I got the slaw and it was a nice bite with the hot chicken and a great way to reset between flavors. Out of all the locations our family has tried in Houston and even Los Angeles, we have found time and again that the chicken is best in Pearland. Balanced amount of sauce, decent sized boneless wings, and well cooked. But it's a chain! my Los Angeles relatives say. Boneless wings are just chicken nuggets, aren't they all the same? You would think so, but the midtown chicken is overcooked (very big portions but dry). The San Gabriel (CA) chicken is too small and doesn't have enough sauce. We've only gotten takeout here, and I have only compared the boneless chicken. But you go to Bonchon for chicken, and with kids it's good to have a few dependable restaurants whose food they will eat 100% of the time. I am a San Gabriel Valley raised Asian, it's the epicenter of Asian food on the west coast. My kids know the SGV is the best for all sorts of Asian food (sorry, facts), and they even know there are better independent Korean chicken places out there. Bonchon Pearland is my favorite Bonchon location. The service here is friendly and you never feel rushed or ignored. Food is always piping hot and you can't stop eating it no matter how many pieces you order. I think that's always a good sign for the crispy nature of Korean fried chicken. As I am not a big fan of spicy foods, we opted for the soy garlic wings and drums (medium) and also got the seasoned fries. The fries are crispy but kind of have a slightly doughy inner texture which was not off putting but just odd. I really liked the seasoning of the chicken batter. I really like that they give you the option to request either the pickled radish or the coleslaw because not everyone likes the pickled radish. I, however, am a huge fan so my friend had to watch me eat it. But I digress. Interior is like that of a sports bar. Several TVs playing all the sports on at that time. Our server was very nice and even explained to us that the drink that I requested is actually better off if I get it from the regular menu rather than the happy hour menu. It has been many years since I had Bonchon. It was the first Korean fried chicken place I've ever had but since I've tried others I have moved on from them. This is definitely a nice intro to Korean fried chicken if one has never had it before. I remember last time I tried them, they weren't good. The chicken was as crispy and the flavor was definitely a miss but this time it is a lot better than I remembered. Chicken was crispy and very flavorful this time around and the fries were nicely seasoned with great flavor and wasn't overly salty. I tried their new yangnyeom sauce on the side and it was pretty decent. Definitely surprised by how good the sauce is. The one thing that Bonchon lacks compared to other places of the same style are the flavors of chicken. You're only limited to 2 but they do it well. The bulgogi fries were most definitely a hit in my book. Nice and crispy fries with the right bulgogi flavor. The meat was delicious and wasn't overly salted or greasy. I was very excited to try the chicken wings here since I had heard great things. I must say that the food was great but other areas definitely fell short. For almost $8 the fries should have been amazing but they were average at best. We also ordered the Korean chicken tacos which were not bad but they aren't worth getting again. We had not tried sake before so one of the waitresses was nice enough to let us sample it before purchasing, we decided on wine instead. Chicken Tender Strip not much bigger than a nugget. First I think the chicken is fantastic even though a little expensive however recently their chicken strips have been mixed in size. Last visit 6 of the 10 strips were barely bigger than a nugget. When laid end to end they matched the same size as a regular strip.
