The wings and fries, are always GOOD!!! I gave it 2 stars because of the wings. This time, I got, the 5 piece wings (Teriyaki Flavored) and Chicken rice. The picture is a little messy because I moved the rice around. Why because the rice was extra hard...not cooked completely and I was biting into bones!!! It's always crowded when I go ,but it's worth the wait because the food is always good

Never had a problem before until today they say they called my number and they did not and if they had called my number why would you wait for 15 other numbers to go by before calling my number again. Then the person kept saying I want argue with you, but everytime I said something they had something to say back .....so! It was just ridiculous that I went there and was sitting inside the whole time and they never asked once 'ma'am what is your number'. I was the only customer in there when I first arrived so many people came after me and not once did they think to ask what was my number. I asked for Sam (manager) who was there, I seen him, but they told me he was now gone. Trying to support community businesses always backfires. I am done and will not visit this location again. I think what bothered me most is when they did decide to call my number they had no issue with serving me food that had been sitting. I am so disappointed. read more

Here Today ! Noooo way would anyone visit South Park (or is it Sunny side?) w/out eating at one of the most talked about yummy yum yumm legendary restaurants of the South American Deli. My friend-girl turned her nose up when I suggested we eat here, she's from the country so she knows nothing about hood eating,..so my treat. Depending on how her taste buds are nagging her she'll eat meat but she be trying to do right with me and stay away from animal. I suggested the fried chicken cause "WE" luv us some fried chicken but she/we settled on Shrimp Fried Rice and a side of catfish. Now this new location is further down Cullen so i hoped the seasoning and concept was the same and it was with the exception the own excitement of our presence was welcoming as we entered. We order and waited longer than expected due to the many of phone in to-go orders. She started complaining as I sat there with a grin on my face, leg twitching like a geek cause I knew she/we was just hangry. After she opened her box and she saw the golden brown catfish awaiting her and the shrimp peeking out her rice, she calmed herself and growling belly down. I was still preparing my hot sauce on my fish, added 2 packs of soy sauce to only a side portion of my rice (had to be fixed just right) took a sip of my cool aid to slippery glide my food down she was across from me smacking and commenting on how worth the wait the food was. After she ate most of her food, the complained on all the rice. In defense of shrimp fried rice which she's not familiar with cause she's from the country, I commented that's what shrimp fried rice was composed of...rice and shrimp. Funny cause she burped and hiccup looking over in my box asking if I was going to eat my "comebread" :))))) (from the movie Life) As their other location, 3 cooks and diabetic sweet free refill cool aid. This has been the worst experience I ever had at American Deli!! If I could give them a 0 I would. I called to place a to go order for my elderly parents and they hung up on me not once but 3 times. And then they had me on hold for over 40 minutes. My elderly mother has to leave her Home to go and make the order and pick up the food. This was a horrible experience and they don't have to worry about me coming back ever again. read more

This was our first visit to American Deli and it won't be our last. My family and I ordered Philly Cheesesteaks with fries and wings and a 3 piece Catfish combo. Everything was super fresh. The servings were very generous. The Philly had peppers, onions, mushrooms, well cooked beef and plenty of cheese on a perfectly toasted roll. They also offered to sprinkle Cajun seasoning on the fries. I definitely recommend that option. I chose the honey garlic wings and they were garlicy and glazed perfectly in honey and still crispy!!! Finally, the service...the ladies that helped us were so kind and helpful with making recommendations. I can't wait to go back and try something else!!! read more

Hate to do it but... this last experience the food was not what I'm used too. I usually order the original hot wings. So like any other time that's what I ordered. Heard a lot of good things about their fried rice so I ordered that as well. Everything appeared fine until I got home and bit into that first wing. not sure if the sauce was expired or what. But just as fast as I bit it, I spit it out even faster. Then the rice. It tasted as if it was refrigerated reheated with sautéed veggies mixed in. It was awful to say the least. The one on Cullen, I had hair in my Philly chicken cheesesteak! Super gross. I immediately lost my appetite. No one ever answered my call nor acknowledged my complaints when I went to the restaurant after my food was delivered via Door Dash. And what happened to the fries? They used to be crinkled, now they give some small stringy fries. Not cool at all for the price they make you pay! I only like American Deli on Scott street! They are way more cleaner and food tastes way better!!! read more

Service was good, not great but good. The food makes up for it though because the fries have a great amount of seasoning and the wings are very good even though they are small. The beverages they provide are great too especially their homemade lemonade. Would definitely try this spot if you're in the area. read more
