Drove in from midtown on New Year's Day! Andd was able to get a nice parking spot right in the front, not that you'd have a hard time finding parking because it's located in a shopping center. The menu is extensive, so I'd definitely recommend looking at what you might want ahead of time. We ordered: The salmon sliders which you smelled it when it came to the table. I'm not mad at it, I know what I ordered. It was okay. The chef Tony's gripper wasn't bad, but I feel like the flavors of the burger clash. And that the breaded the chicken like crazy. The chicken wings were good, but a suggestion of keeping the ranch dressing refrigerated and not off to the side. Peach cobbler tacos, now these mfs we bussinnnn lol.. and let's keep in mind that I'm lactose intolerant lol but I had to try just a little to see!! And they were good. The service was regular, the music was R&B and rap and was upbeat and made you want to dance once or twice. (Side note) the store was extremely sticky from the front to the back. Overall if I did come back it wouldn't be in my own dime and I'll probably get wings.
Ordered the Yung Gripper special. The sandwich is huge, well seasoned, and tasty. Parmesan fries were good and hot. The orange bottled soda was on point It seems that the ownership are Detroit Lions fans based on the decor in the restaurant. Renee greeted me when I entered the restaurant and answered all of my questions. The food was hot and brought out to my table. The decor was tasteful and colorful. The restroom was clean and well stocked. The floor was sticky throughout, which indicated a mopping issue. Overall experience was positive and upbeat. Each customer is greeted when they come in. Great experience
Enjoying their garlic parmesean boneless chicken with parmesean fries and lemonade. Since it is made to order, if you are in a hurry, pre-order your meal. Otherwise, you can relax and play a Pac Man video game. Their food is very especially their parmesean fries and fried chicken. If you get cold easily bring something extra or you can also eat on the patio.

Gripper did not disappoint! They understand flavor and freshness. The fried catfish was so good and I see exactly why it is a favorite. Crispy, seasoned perfectly. Don't hesitate ordering that! The wings were also good. I love a good, tasty sauce that sticks to the wing and these were on point. Last but certainly not least, that peach cobbler cheesecake was the best I've had since being in Houston. Thank you for getting it right! We will be back. Plenty more menu options to try! Loved the music selection and the family friendly vibe of the space. You can catch a game there and they also serve adult beverages so definitely give them a visit.

I finally had the chance to stop by The Gripper Kitchen in Pearland, which was recommended by my mother in law and let me tell you--this spot lives up to the hype! Black owned BTW! I heard it was definitely a go to spot so I had to see what the hype was all about! From the moment I walked in, I could tell it was a popular spot because it was busy inside, but that just reassured me that the food was about to be on point. My mother-in-law and I decided to order to-go since it was packed, and while we waited, I asked the cashier what he recommended. Without hesitation, he told me to go with the catfish and the Philly cheesesteak sliders--and let me tell you, he did NOT disappoint. (I forgot his name). The catfish was perfectly seasoned and fried to crispy golden perfection only drawback that the size was small for the price. The breading had just the right amount of crunch while keeping the fish tender and flaky inside. I've had my fair share of fried catfish from the four corners of the USA, but this ranked top 5 & was easily some of the best I've had in a long time. You can tell they put love into their food, and it wasn't greasy or overcooked--just fresh, flavorful, and cooked right. Now the Philly cheesesteak sliders! Omg bruhhhhh these were next-level. The bread was soft and buttery, and the steak was juicy, well-seasoned, and loaded with gooey stringy melted cheese. They had just the right amount of onions and peppers to give it that classic Philly flavor without overpowering the meat. Each bite was packed with flavor in which it felt like a concert in my mouth cause I was humming, and I honestly could have eaten a whole tray of them. To wash it all down, I got their limeade Kool-Aid, and it was exactly what I needed. Sweet, tangy, and refreshing--it took me right back to childhood. It paired perfectly with the meal, and I could tell they don't skimp on making it just right. We checked out the Gripper Kitchen last week on a Wednesday. The food was good! We got the lobster gripper, lemon pepper wings, fries, chicken sandwich and a daiquiri. The lobster sandwich was amazing, wings and fries too! The chicken sandwich was good and big BUT I cut it so it wouldn't make a mess and I was alerted that in the Gripper Kitchen you must grip and not cut the sandwich,lol. Cute but im a need to eat my sandwich "safely" . The service was good and the owners were friendly. I will be back on a Tuesday to try out the chicken shell tacos.. they look too good! The restaurant style is sporty Detroit and has all of their good food posted for you to pick from.
I had some time to kill, while waiting for family so I found this place to eat after work due to being in the area. They are located in Pearland next to Tide. Upon arrival you understand their brand! Very clean, organized. They have self service Togo cutlery. They have post-it notes customers can write I and they paste them to the wall. They provide a red carpet experience as you approach the register. I saw a customer order the peach cobbler tacos and yeah I am trying those next. The fish was fried to perfection crisp on the edges. The Parmesan fries were not greasy and I could not stop eating them. They provide a house dipping sauce. I wanted the lobster sandwich which I will try next time as well. I highly recommend this place, I wish it was closer to the heights.

I had originally bumped into Chef Tony at the liqour store and asked him "where the party at?" he let me know he was stocking up the restaurant and told me about The Gripper. I knew I had to check it out. I had some of my boys fly in from Phoenix and thought it was a perfect time to pull up. On entering, it was very clean and not overly crowded. I ordered The Yung Gripper and my wife and friends all got the catfish gripper. Listennnnn the chicken and the catfish both fried and seasoned to perfection. Large portions and the sauce went crazy. This isn't a time to be pretty. This is gonna get a lil messy in the best way possible. Grab some napkins and some beer or a mixed drink and dive in. Make sure to roll up those sleeves too. The fries were solid and pricing was good as well. Chef Tony came by to check on us and reassured me he didn't drink all that liqour himself lol. The lady at the front gave great service throughout our visit. I don't know why I'm not here more often. If you haven't been, you need to go. If you have been, pull back up and support some of the best food in Pearland.
Ok been waiting to try Gripper for Taco Tuesday and don't know why I waited so long cuz these tacos were excellent. My hubby doesn't really like grilled tacos he prefers fried but tried and ordered two more grilled tacos. We were very happy with our dinner and will definitely be back on Taco Tuesday. Thanks Chef Tony for not disappointing!

Absolutely! You gotta come here. The fish is delicious and the vibes are immaculate! Came here because we saw a video about this place having one of the best fish sandwiches in Houston and they weren't wrong. The fish is soooo good! The owner is a vibe! The music was going we were all singing and enjoying the food. It was like being at your cousins house for real. Well probably be back tomorrow. Definitely try this place! read more

My husband and I tried this place out because of the great reviews on google and on here as well. He ordered the yung gripper combo and I ordered the Buffalo boneless wings by themselves. Collectively, we give the food 4 stars! The chicken was juicy and flavorful and I didn't bite into any nerves as I sometimes do with others sandwiches. The wings were good. Super saucy. The sandwich was delicious. The flavors together were nothing like I've had before. Husband wants to go back to try other sandwiches. I also loved how everything was branded with the logo. It was on the booths, the paper the food was on and even the burger bun! The comment cards all over the walls were nice too. Gives it a fun kind of feel. The downside was the ranch had no flavor and the parm fries were soggy. We gave the customer service a 2. I've worked in customer service a looong time so I know a thing or two. The cashier was not friendly, not mean, but meh. The person who delivered our food gave us the wrong order and when I told her about it she didn't apologize, she looked confused and just walked away. It was an odd interaction. Customer service was real lackluster. I will say, she did ask us how our meal as we were leaving was so that was good. read more
I ended up hear after receiving a call from a friend that I hadn't seen in weeks which is not like us to do. I was asked if I had ever tried the Gripper Kitchen and I replied "I see it on Tik Tok, always see it when I drop off my laundry but never have time." So we went. I sat in the car for a moment and watched people go in and out for some time until my friend arrived. The steady flow of people gave me confidence that this would be good. I ordered the 6 piece wings dings no fries and a lemon drop. My friend ordered the peach cobbler tacos as well. The wings okay (Hot Lemon Pepper). The outside was seasoned well, but not so much throughout the wing itself. The drink was great and I finished that all. The peach cobbler tacos looked great when they first brought them out to us. But they brought them before our food and was stated that we wanted to eat our food first so that took it back to the kitchen. I think they just held it until we were ready causing the crust to be mushy and the ice cream to melt a little. Overall, I ate the ice cream, sample the crust and trashed the rest. I think if it were fresh, it would have been different if it were fresh. I'll try again, ordering something different. read more
This was my 2nd time visiting Houston but 1st time in this eatery. Its a Black owned business. The customer service was prompt it was professional but also very laid-back. The chef, took the time to come introduce himself and give my sister and I a good rundown of the establishment. Everything was clean, neat and inviting, I would bring kids, like the entire family. There is something for everyone on the menu. N they have daily specials. Just look at my pics and videos, wouldn't you say its mouth watering?? Yup, absolutely delicious. First of all the customer service was great. When we were ordering the cashier, it was very helpful with explaining the menu and giving suggestions. The menu has good multiple choices of burgers. Then, when we sat down to wait on the order, the guy didn't know if he was the owner or chef, but he was very kind as he brought food to our table. Now on to the food. I had the lobster burger and lemon pepper wings. The burger was ok, not the best, but it wasn't terrible. Now I liked how the top of the burger had the restaurant name on it. That's cute. The lemon pepper wings were pretty good. I typically prefer dry wings, and these were just lightly wet and tasted good with good season. The prices were a bit higher than I expected. read more
I tried the Yung Gripper since it seemed like the popular option. I enjoyed it and maybe could've probably used some spice, but it was really good aside from that and a big portion. My friend got the Philly cheesesteak sliders and enjoyed them. I don't know why I never thought about trying mango koolaid but that really did something for me lol it was so good. I'd be back to try again. Great service, everyone was helpful and it was a very welcoming environment. read more

The food is tasty, however I found it to be a bit on the pricy side of things. I think for a sandwich, side and drink cost about $17-$20. To be fair, it seems like you can't get lunch much cheaper than that most places these days. I have been here twice now. The sandwiches are on point! I had the Mac n cheese the first time and it was amazing. The second time, it was dry and not what i remembered. So maybe there is a consistency issue with the Mac n cheese, but it was still flavorful. The fries were good. I would come here again. read more

I had dinner with fellow Pearland Yelper Justin T. a few weeks ago. Gripper Kitchen was all over my Yelp feed, so I was happy to finally try it. When we walked in, they had R&B tunes playing. It's definitely a vibe in there. There's a lot of IG photo ops too. The staff was nice and explained the menu. I ordered the Rockin Rodeo with Parmesan Fries and a cup of Kool Aid. The food was served pipping hot! It takes about 15-20 minutes for it to be prepared and they won't make it until you order it. My sandwich was good, but was very salty. I ate most of it, but was thirsty the rest of the evening. I really loved the Parmesan fries! I was only able to eat half of them simply because the basket had so much food! They do not skimp on the portions. The Kool Aid was soooo good! It had the perfect amount of sweetness and brought me back to my childhood! We weren't sure if they charged for refills, so I nursed my drink to make it last. They didn't offer a size option for the beverages. Justin had the catfish and shrimp combo and enjoyed it. I definitely want to try the catfish on my next visit because it looked really good! While we were eating, there was a steady stream of people stopping in to pick up orders to go. Chef Tony came out and greeted customers. He acknowledged us far afar, but didn't stop by our table. I accidently ordered a catfish gripper, thinking it was catfish and fries and I'm here to say, I'm glad I ordered it. I enjoyed every bite of this fresh and flavorful sandwich with coleslaw and delish sauce...and the catfish was fried to perfection. I also love the fact that they also have tasty onion rings and sweet potato fries for side choices. Service was excellent, the person taking my order had great customer service skills, he was friendly, helpful and welcoming. I'll be back for the grippers and to try other items on the menu. I've been to the Gripper Kitchen before a couple of years ago (I'll insert those pics) and I really enjoyed everything about it. The vibe (for a small eatery), the service and the food was great. So I recently decided to give them another try (for takeaway this time, so no pics). I got their fried catfish and shrimp with Parmesan fries a side of macaroni & cheese and a slice of peach cobbler cheese cake. The only thing I enjoy was the fried shrimp. The shrimp were hot and crispy just the right amount of seasonings. The fish was a bit undercooked had a fishy aftertaste and was extremely greasy. The parmesan fries had no flavor not even a hint of salt and very little Parmesan cheese. The macaroni & cheese had a nice flavor but was a bit dry. The cheesecake was just ok. I was really hoping to enjoy them again as much as I did the first time. Oh well!? read more

Very filling and delicious chicken sandwiches! I would recommend the Chef Tony for blue cheese lovers and the Yung gripper sandwich. I wish the restaurant had a fountain drink for sodas as all soda drinks are bottled/canned. The Mac and cheese bowl and Parmesan fries were just okay. Really the chicken was the star of the show! I came here on at Thursday at 12noon. No kine, few pple eating inside. I ordered my food for dine in. There service was very kind. I got an off the menu meal which was theh salmon slider with sweet potato fries. The food came out fast and was super super hot. I do believe food should be served at the perfect temperature. I was soooo hungry but had to wait for my food to cool down. The appearance was very delicious looking. The bread was hot and soft. The slider was very delicious. I love sweet potatoe fries and have never been disappointed with it but unfortunately my fries was very hard so I didn't really enjoy it. But the meal over all was 7/10. Will be back to try other items l. I can reccomend this place read more

The food was amazing and it looked just like the advertisement on instagram. The place was clean and service was great. The chef/owner was actually back there cooking. I had the chicken pita and my cousin had the chef tony gripper. Excellent combination of flavors. I took my mom tacos and they were delicious as well. read more
