We went to Bonchon for lunch today and I got the 2 spicy chicken taco lunch special for $9.99 and my friend got the fried (not spicy) chicken taco special and both were great! Chunks of tender chicken, coleslaw with buttermilk ranch and spicy mayo. I added a side of the Korean Cucumber Salad with onion and red pepper flakes. Sliced, crisp cucumber with just a tiny heat. Delicious! They also have a full dinner menu and full bar with interesting drink specials. Love the Korean Chicken, Shrimp and Beef Specialties! Lots of Vegetarian options too. On Instagram there is a post about how it's $1 wings on Monday & "Tuesday" and that was posted for a few weeks now. But when I went into and ordered on Tuesday they said that it was wrong, I was upset because I was hoping on getting that deal, they didn't want to compromise since it was online it said that. I will not be coming back to the restaurant because of false advertisement of $1 wings on Tuesday. Aside from that, the food was alright, with the tacos being good and the fries being rich in flavor. The customer service was terrible. Sat for 20 minutes without even being acknowledged. Servers walking back and forth acting like we didn't even exist. I finally asked a server to take our order. The server was going to give me a refill on my soda, and grabs the glass from the top (yes, where I would be drinking from), takes it to the bar and is going to bring me back the same glass! I told him that since I didn't know where his hands had been, I didn't want the same glass that he had just grabbed from the top. The food comes out and only two plates are brought out (there are four of us) The other two in our party had to wait an addition 15 minutes for their food, and I had to ask for it! As for the background noise and videos that are playing, I'm not a fan but I understand why they have the videos playing that they do. I wish the happy hour was everyday. Is -point when they're holding events like trivia and stuff like that. It's just way too loud to have a conversation with your partner. I do recommend the wings over the legs and that is just a personal preference because to me the legs are too large for what I'm expecting. The wings are the right size for knee and I enjoy them the best. The Korean barbecue is the sauce that it's a general purpose. Brought the lady a couple nights later and altho the crispy/juicy/flavorfully-sauced wings and the potstickers - with their doughy/crispy texture mix and chicken-flavored pork filling - were a big hit with her as well, one aspect of the the experience seems to have suffered, the service. Be advised that if you elect to sit at the bar, there's a decent chance you will be ignored for several minutes at some point, and apparently the best chance of this happening seems to be as soon as you sit down. Altho we were able to walk up and order drinks pretty quick, we then watched another couple and a solo patron sit on either side of us, and separately wait several minutes without any employee contact and then leave in disgust. (I'm guessing there is at least one 1-star review resulting.) The truly frustrating part is that the exact same bartender/server that I had just raved about on their opening day, was the same person now ignoring customers! Nevermind that she later made an off-handed comment about working pretty much every hour that the place had been open -which by that point would have constituted 4-straight 12-hr days. While there's a whole other discussion around that, the bottom line is that this is ultimately management's responsibility so when a manager rolled by as we were leaving, we decided to let him know. Unfortunately he immediately turned the conversation to our own food experience, which was of course positive. The chicken is incredible. This was my first time trying Bonchon, and I got a mix of drumsticks and wings - I'm definitely coming back for the chicken over and over. The texture and flavor are excellent with a perfect cook on the chicken. I tried two different sauces (you're allowed to split your order half and half. The Korean BBQ sauce was tasty - sticky and sweet with a touch of spice and nice flavor, but it did seem to overwhelm the chicken a bit in my opinion. The soy and garlic sauce was perfection - just enough spice and flavor to wake up the chicken without hiding the chicken taste and crunch. I also got the pork buns. The buns were soft and scrumptious and the slaw was delicious, but the pork itself (at least that I got) was pretty tough - not the melt-in-your mouth notion of pork belly - and tough pork in a soft bun just makes for a mess. I went with curbside pickup, not knowing what the parking situation would be (the restaurant is in a hotel). Since I ordered on the web, I'm really glad I took a screenshot of the page where they tell you the number to call when you get there, because the only email I got from them did not include that information. Also, the website and order form aggressively promote the idea of getting their app, but the app link doesn't work for the iPhone (at least not yet). Once I got there and called the number, I was placed on hold, but they knew I was there and brought it out to my car - no problem. Friendly, fast service. read more

While the food is great, customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Ordered delivery directly from the Bonchin app. $5 fee. No problem. At delivery time, no food. I go to pick it up and ask for a refund of the delivery fee. Nope, that's a Door Dash fee and I have to reach out to them for it. That's it. No semblance of an apology for delay or having to come out. Will consider other options next time I want fried chicken. read more

We come here a lot and love the food normally but what happened really left a negative taste in our mouth. When my partners order of "soy garlic" strips came out they looked normal but when she tried them they had the spicy ness of the hotter sauce, we simply asked for them to be swapped with the right sauce as we had ordered. Not 1 minute later the waitress comes back with the exact same plate of tenders (we can tell because the piece that was already cut into was still there) and they had clearly just soaked them in soy garlic and sent them back out. Even our waitress said she thinks that is what they did. We took a taste of what they brought out and it was a spicy horrible mix of the soy garlic and what I believe was the hottest sauce you can order. We told the waitress could we please get the correct order and she said the manager wanted to charge us for another plate at this point dispite never getting what we ordered in the first place. This is a dangerous practice to just think you can mask the wrong order with the right sauce after the others had already had the hot sauce put on them. Man this was a disappointment. We ordered large soy garlic wings thinking we can take some home since we don't have bonchon where we live. This was the first time I've eaten wings less than 3. I couldn't eat and enjoy it. I've been eating Bonchon for many years. I've visited NorCal, SoCal, VA, Chicago and even in Asia but I have to say this is most disappointing location. I'm not gonna say all stores I've visited have the exact same taste but they are at least close and it's always hot and smell newly cooked. We ate here and the chicken was not even warmed up and it was lacking of sauce. We had to ask to return and add more sauce and warm it up (they didnt). We also order japchae and that was not japchae. I love korean foods and I've tasted different version of japchae and the japchae here def doesn't taste like japchae. First, this is a new location. We went during their grand opening and it was really wonderful. Super large portions, their own take on a terrific "yum yum" sauce, juicy wings with terrific cook and crunch. Also when you order the drumsticks, be advised, these are regular drumsticks, not chicken wing drummies. My family doesn't love drumsticks for some strange reason but I do. The pot stickers were also great. They're crispy, not doughy. We ordered other food but had to take it home because we were full. The second time we went, hubs and daughter ordered their regular wings. They were ok but they were severely under sauced and bland even though we had taken pains to order them with everyone preferred sauces. I went back for lunch last week. Granted, I got it to go, ordering seasoned fries and a small order of wings with the yum yum sauce. I only live 5 minutes away so didn't think the food quality should be affected. The seasoned fries cost $2 extra and were BARELY seasoned. The flavor on the wings was good, but the wings were tough because they were super, super dry. They were almost inedible. I was there before they were ready so I know they weren't waiting for me, drying out. They were just flat out overcooked. Such a massive disappointment. I may give them one more try because the first time was so good. They have so much potential. They've been open a few months now and need to get their stuff ironed out. They aren't cheap, so it stinks to get poor food for a large cost. Hope they fix it. read more

We were sat quickly at a table that either was hastily wiped down or not wiped down at all. The ambiance reminds me of a cafeteria more than a restaurant. It's wide open with tables spaced so oddly that there is little to no privacy from table to table. Our drink order was taken and menus were brought, but, I had to ask for cutlery and straws. This place is supposedly known for their Korean fried chicken, but, we saw other Korean staples that we wanted to try. We ordered the beef bulgogi and the chicken katsu. Very disappointing meal, especially for the price. My chicken katsu was a nicely fried cutlet, sliced into pieces. The chicken was very thin, but the breading was decent. Not convinced it wasn't a frozen breaded cutlet though. It sat on top of cold, sticky white rice and had a sauce drizzled over it. The beef bulgogi bordered on inedible. The beef was clearly a very cheap cut of meat that was full of gristle, sinew, and silverskin, which made it chewy and unappealing. I was staying at the hotel in which Bonchon is located and didn't want to go out in search of dinner due to the weather. I was happy to see that Bonchon was located just off the lobby because I like Korean food a lot. I could not have been happier with my meal. I got pork dumplings as an appetizer; half dipped in Soy Garlic sauce and half in Spicy sauce. They were, without a doubt, the best dumplings I've had anywhere and I look forward to eating the leftover ones for breakfast. I also ordered Japchae, a very flavorful noodle dish with vegetables and really high quality beef. It too exceeded my expectations. I believe Bonchon is known for its fried chicken (wings, drumsticks, tenders) but I am happy that I went with a traditional Korean dish for my first meal there. I've only eaten 2x at Bonchon, and so far have not strayed from the chicken. Meal #1 was a "small" (Ha! it fed me for three lunches) wing/drumstick combo. The prices on the menu may at first seem a bit high, but with six wings and three drumsticks, all of them pretty hefty, it worked out to about $6 per meal. I also tried their coleslaw, which was pleasant but served mostly as a fresh contrast to the soy/garlic richness of the chicken. What a crunch - this is chicken that fights back! Meal #2 was their chicken sandwich special. It's a massive chunk of meaty chicken patty, fried to the same perfect crunch as their wings/drumsticks, and big enough to cut in half and save for a later meal along with 50% of the extremely generous helping of seasoned fries. I made the mistake of getting the sandwich to go and trying to eat it on my way home, resulting in a tussle with the German shepherd in the back seat who didn't understand why he couldn't have some, and also soy/garlic sauce all over my steering wheel. We had an exhausting day and decided to order out from Bonchon. We love Korean fried chicken but thought this was simply okay. The legs were more like turkey legs so the proportions were off. Lots of meat and not enough crunchy coating. We bought a meal package for 6-8 but the sides included were rediculously small! The location is a little out of the way but the ambiance is nice as well as the staff seems friendly. The food however specifically the chicken leaves alot to be desired. I've been once so far and will change my review if things change however I ordered the chicken strips and got half spicy and half Korean bbq and the chicken was cooked nice it was really crispy but there wasn't much sauce. After your first bite and get past that initial flavor all you have left to chew is bland chicken. So I did what any normal person would do and asked may I have some extra sauce to dip the chicken in and they told me no we do not offer any dipping sauce aside from ketchup. What?!
