Words cannot describe how awesome Ellen Hale and the staff at Bon Appetite are. There is a reason a place has been open as long as they have. And if you haven't seen the view, then you don't understand what you are missing. read more

Have to totally disagree with reviewer who reported the turkey to be turkey roll and not fresh turkey. Hubs had the turkey and he was asked if he wanted white, dark or a mix. Nice touch Bon Appetit. He shared some of his turkey with me so I can say first hand that it was the real deal--I won't eat turkey roll. Arrived in time to witness a gorgeous sunset while we sipped our champagne cocktails and toasted our Christmas. Fixed price ($65pp) and a very decent set of choices for appetizer (I had the luscious, generous lobster cocktail, he had tasty mushroom soup) , small tasty Caesar salad and for entrees he had the aforementioned turkey and trimmings and I had a very tender cooked to my liking filet. Dessert was pumpkin cheesecake or chocolate mousse and coffee was also included. It was a lovely way to end our low Key day. Service got off to a slow start--prob waited a few minutes too many for our waiter to take our drink order but from drinks on it was smooth sailing without feeling rushed or hurried. read more

One of our favorite local resturants. There are three venues to choose from; an outdoor bar, an open terrace and the main indoor dining room....all with a water view. The menu is varied with a wide selection of meat and fish. The food is always well prepared and and the prices are commensurate with the quality. We have dined as a couple and with as many as 16 and always go away pleased. read more

We stopped by while biking today on Christmas for drinks at the outside bar with beautiful Dunedin Florida sunset while a blizzard is brewing up north. We met friends just emerging from the beautiful dining room after a 3hr feast. We enjoy eclectic appetizers at the outside bars (2) and step up to the dining room for special occasions. read more

Ate at the outdoor cafe.prices seemed a little high. I ordered the Oysters Bellair-horrible oysters on the half shell undercooked in a cream slop. The ocean is right there-order fish and chips.Fish had the consistency of a Mrs Paul's fish stick.Fries had that lousy seasoning on them, really hard to screw up a French Fry but the kitchen sure did. For service felt bad for the waitress but my appetizer and entree came out the same time after a 30 minute wait.My friends entree came to our table ten minutes after mine.Really should have gone and got Fish Tacos a half block away read more

We had our wedding and reception on the second floor of the restaurant. It is a beautiful location but that is just the beginning of a wonderful experience. We purchased one of their package deals that was amazing. The food was terrific and the wait staff very attentive and courteous. Nancy made the event planning very easy. She listened to what we wanted and really delivered. Everything was beautiful. read more

We have been going to Bon Appetit for years it's my in laws favorite place, until last week, when our party of 12 had dinner and 4 of hours later 3 of us got deathly ill with food poisoning, the bad thing was we call them a few days later to alert them to what had happened we did not want a free meal, or rain check just the common courtesy of saying we thank you for the information, instead we got Oh that could not have happened here, We are perfect like they have their eye on all here employee's every second. We spend between 400 -450 dollars that night. We will not be going back read more

A super restaurant with amazing sunset. A great menu. We had the surf and turf perfectly done and grouper that was as well/prepared to our satisfaction but the Snapper was beyond delicious. Our server Hollywood Stu was priceless with knowledge and style that we appreciated. Very well done to the whole staff. Thank you!!!!! read more

the two stars are for the stunning views and sunset. Inside...well you have yourself a nursing home cafeteria. REALLY. Average age of other customers..110. A clue should be the four steps down into the restaurant...they actually have to have a lift for the majority of the customers that cannot negotiate even those few steps. The decor clearly dated. they have tried to do a few things to try to modernize it..but mostly it oppressively old inside. . I tried to distract myself with the sunset view. The salad before the meal was really good..which gave me a glimmer of hope...but my entree..well, as I suspected, here comes nursing home cafeteria fodder...my lobster tail was completely and totally without ANY taste. If I closed my eyes and you asked me what are you eating? I would have replied..tofu maybe? the only taste was whatever I could muster from the butter. My husband's food,he had tasteless ravioli which came with no sauce (really no sauce on ravioli??)... was the same.(we could have traded meals and would not known the difference) it was all presented elegantly so neither of us wanted to break the spirit of what we had hoped would be a beautiful meal experience..but on the way home...we both came out with it. It was completely and utterly bland and tasteless. Exactly what would appeal to their over 90 crowd. I had no complaints with the service..but I think the wait staff knows what their food is. I think if I ever went again..I would sit outside and listen to the steel drum music (yeah, inside? as a pianist tickling the keys with all those catchy Frank Sinatra tunes...you know...i did it Myyyyyyy way) So sit outside have a drink and listen to music...if you have anything to eat maybe a small plate, and take in the gorgeous views. read more

Great food but terrible service from our server Miguel! Our waters stayed empty through out lunch and every time we asked for a drink he would give us attitude. As we were leaving Miguel and the manager (young lady) were making snarky comments about us. As a local, my family and I won't be coming back. read more

We were enroute to the Dolphin and Turtle rescue cener at Clearwater Beach and stayed at a B * B which fortuitously recommended Bon Appetit Merely seeking some fish, Bon Apettit unexpected treat on our trip thru Clearwater area++ We were unsure we'd made the on line reservations form work, so we put on our best travel clothes and showed up at their door and said we had tried to make a reseration. The place was almost full, but kind reception person said she thought she could find a place for us. Took us right down to a front row seat where there was only a plate of glass between us and a narrow deck and then the ocean. In warmer weather, the deck and the covred patio/deck area looked like a delightful place to have breakfast or other meal. It's a white table cloth sort of place, with I think pink roses on the table. Yet dinners came in sloppy clothes as well as out-for - a celebration dress up clothes, and the waiters snapped pictures for their occasion. Rolls which tasted homemade and good butter showed up right away with my house Pinot Grigeo both delightful. Two appetizers we ordered were over the top good! Mussels with home made rolls to dip the sauce in - fabulous. Actually, the general table rolls were probably better for dipping, because the long rolls that were served w mussles were a little on the sweet side and our fine waiter brought some more. We shared a platter of samplings of 3 of the restaurant's sea food offerings, a raw tuna, a cooked but chilled bay scallop, and luscious scallops all beautifully presented with lettuces and other vegetables, and two dipping sauces! We had traveled over 12 hours that day, so it was time to quit before dessert - but this is the kind of place that probably had outstanding desserts as well as a wonderful main menu. Our waiter was the charming Manuel, who discussed the great variety in sunsets he got to see working there, as we exclaimed over a particularly dramatic red sky, frm our front row seats in this pretty restaurant. Loved the marine center, but Bon Apetitt is enough of a reason to travel back to this area and this pretty town of Dundeden. read more

Ate there for the second time on Easter. The other time was Thanksgiving. No other way to put it other than the worst meal I have ever eaten.. in my life.... ever. Thank goodness I was not paying for it. 54.00 per person. The menu was a cookie cutter of Thanksgiving except they swapped out the turkey for ham. The filet... yuck.. had that at Thanksgiving and it was horrible so went for the chicken. It was bad, bad, bad. The chicken was overcooked. The artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms were straight out of a can and just plan terrible. Got the mousse for dessert because I knew it was safe. Everyone at the table who got the cheesecake thought it was terrible. The only good things were the soup and the sweet potato croquette. Not sure about the regular meals but as far as holiday meals.... go to Taco Bell. read more

We had a special occasion with 10 family members in from all over the country. Our experience was almost perfect but spoiled by one surly, unprofessional, unkind, uptight and impatient hostess. 8 of our party were at the bar waiting for our last 2 family members to arrive. Our last 2 guests arrived. They are both in their 80's and use walkers. We were helping them in and hadn't been standing there for more than a minute when the impatient rude young hostess came and demanded what we're were doing blocking the door, and if that isn't insensitive enough already, she made a shooing motion as if we were stray dogs picking at her garbage on the curb. I was so shocked by this, particularly since it was 3 pm on a Tuesday, they weren't busy, and there was NO ONE else trying to pass by. Iwas speechless and had to ask my bf to handle the situation. It is so upsetting to see seniors mistreated like this, in Florida no less. Seriously, what is our world coming to. Yes they are slow and they were in the way of the door (blocking no one), but disdainfully shooing away an 88 an 82 yr old in walkers? And his is your profession? I am disgusted. There are infinitely more compassionate and professional ways to help us get in and out of the way. Smiling and using kind words to start. Realizing that seniors move, speak and make decisions slowly would be a good quality for a hostess to have in this location. Food and drinks were good but no compensation for the rudely gesturing witch at the door. So much for southern hospitality, read more

I visited this establishment for lunch with my wife and her family. The atmosphere is quite nice, large windows, nearly every seat has a waterfront view. The seats themselves are not very comfortable, cushions that have lost all comfort on chairs that have a slight forward incline. The fresh rolls served to you individually by the wait staff are quite enjoyable. Fresh, hot dinner rolls, served with a pad of butter. Bread that is crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside, with fresh sliced butter, equals delicious. My wife and I each ordered a salad with grilled chicken (cesar and spinach respectively). I felt that the spinach salad was overdressed in its sweet vinaigrette. The cesar, which we were told was made in the traditional fresh preparation, tasted as if it were covered in mayonnaise diluted in olive oil with some kraft parm sprinkled over the top (I felt Cesar Cardini judging me as I forced myself to swallow the first bite). This gets me to the protiens, which were undercooked. As I'm bringing my fork to my mouth I notice something pink on. Upon inspection it was the seared chicken which was still primarily raw. My wife and I both inpect the remaining chichen on our plates to see that a majority of our poultry was not fully cooked. The server politely collected or dishes and replaced them, we didn't take our chances with any further protein debacles and requested none on our replacement meals. We did not gamble with any further menu items and chose to forego any of the desert options. I would honestly give this dining experience zero stars, but the bread and atmosphere warrant one star. Perhaps one day the remainder of the menu items will live up to the standard of the dinner roll. read more

Was served waffles with chicken gizzards. Sent it back and was charged for the meal. Beautiful setting though. Stick to breakfast items only but stay away from the waffles with chicken. read more

Only come here if you have plenty of time to spare/waste and want 2 star quality food for 4/5 star prices. We came in for lunch and we waited, and waited, and waited for each thing to come. 20 mins to get our drinks, another 25 mins for our appetizer, another 20 mins for soup to arrive and we waited another 20 mins for our entree and just asked to have boxed so we could leave. Great view of the water, but it was not that busy and we waited for way too long. The waiter, although pleasant enough, forgot components of the meal and did not pack the dessert that was supposed to come with my mother's dinner and my salad was not the salad I ordered. What a waste of money. Would never come back or recommend. read more

The view is absolutely breathtaking. They have a nice private dock overlooking the water. The location is 5 star. Hadn't been here in many years. We thought it would be nice to go for the Thanksgiving buffet. We usually go to Safety Harbor Spa. The banquet room looked like something out of the 80's. Orange covers over the chairs. Tables were so close together is was difficult to maneuver back from the buffet. Now... The food. The turkey must have been brined. It was so salty it was nearly inedible. The ham was dried out and poor quality in some kind of gelatinous raisin sauce. The veggies were just steamed. No salt or butter and were raw. The server raved about the gouda mac and cheese. Dried out and flavorless. The rest of the buffet was mediocre at best. The desserts lacked luster as well. Now I know why I never went back. Almost $200.00 for this?? Save your money and go elsewhere. The only up side... the view!! read more

I would NEVER eat at this restaurant. We're visiting the area from out of state and were boating with family. While on the boat, my little boy (3 years old) needed to use the restroom very badly. We pulled in there and raced into the restaurant to ask very nicely if we could use the restroom. They were incredibly rude. They made us feel like absolute dirt for needing help. Two men told my brother-in-law to move his boat since it was private property, and one of the waiters in the restaurant completely ignored me while I clearly needed help. By the way...there were no diners in the restaurant and no one at the dock since it was before they were actually open. It's not like we were disturbing anyone during the dinner rush. A little kindness goes a long way toward growing your business. My husband grew up in this area and we know a lot of people here who will certainly be hearing our opinions on this place. read more

I wouldn't feed it to my dogs!!!! I would like to start out by saying that Bon Appétit has the best location in Dunedin overlooking the marina. I would also like to say that Bon Appétit is a total waist of that space and is complete shame to the lovely city of Dunedin. I recently squandered my Friday evening at Bon Appétit only to be served the worst meal of my life. I ordered the seafood crepe. I think they miss wrote. The word they were looking for is crap. My husband ordered the pasta jambalaya, which consisted of pasta, unflavored and definitely frozen for too long shrimp and Hillshire farms sausage or it's Sam's club equivalent. The service was also bad. There are so many other great choices in Dunedin. Do yourselves a favor and skip this one. read more

Been here before, but this time service was very slow and unresponsive. Pianist was terrific, waiter was not.

My party and I are all over 55, on a Thursday evening at about 8:30 in the evening were told we could not sit at a round table, they had to hold it for a large party, we were 4. The kitchen closes at 9 . The table was never filled. Our drink order took forever to fill, one of the drinks was a wrong order, the waitperson was condinsending.. I will admit I am a foody, I cook well, eat well and expect the same when I go out. I can no longer rave about B.A. read more

Hi. The Red snapper served and cooked with skin on. Not tasty like it should be., It cost $34.00 and I could barely find any fish, just skin. The lobster claw on top was like shoe leather that I could barely chew and swallow. Spent nearly $175.00 between the four of us and then we were charged $3.00 for a little dessert for the birthday girl whose celebration it was. That is cheap! Won't return. Did not complain because I do not like to do that at celebrations. On a positive note, the waitress was very nice and patient. ps No Valet read more

I have been to this restaurant on many occasions and without fail you can count on being greeted by the scowl of the manager, who guards the entrance with a fierce, unwelcoming demeanor. Not once have I heard her welcome or thank thank anyone for the patronage of the establishment, but rather act as if your visit is a huge inconvenience to her busy schedule. Nevertheless, I have continued to come back to the restaurant for the good food and fabulous views. On my last visit I invited a friend, visiting from out of town, to enjoy the food and beautiful view with me. The view from our table was obscured, however, by four gigantic horse flies, circling within the restaurant, landing on the windows and attempting to land on our food. Our waiter proceeded to tell us how they use the crème brulee torches to burn off the flies wings. He may have been joking, but having ordered crème brulee in the past, I will make sure never to do so again here. That is if I ever come back. read more

The lovely setting can't make up for the awful food and service. The meals that the four of us ordered were inedible. The food was so salty that it made us gag. When we got the bill (our food still on our plates) we left vowing never to return to this once good restaurant. Skip at all means read more

This used to be a great experience and the location on the water is very enjoyable however the food quality is down and service is lacking! I ordered a 14 oz ribeye for 37 dollars and they served me a NY strip steak. I asked the waiter about it and he said he worked for Ruth's Chris and he said your not going to get a argument from me. after talking to the manager he tried to tell me they trim the ribeye to make it a center cut! B.S my wife ordered fresh grouper and it smelled fishy! I grew up in a meat market and I've commercial fished for grouper!! We went there for my wife's b day and was very disappointed. Beautiful location. Won't be going back as the food, the service and the high price tag aren't worth a second visit. It is getting 2 stars for the beautiful view and nice building. The food is subpar and way overpriced. Caesar salad with way too much dressing, lobster salad and lobster roll with no taste except that it was probably recently defrosted, along with the dinner rolls. The grouper medallions were ok, though not at all memorable. Our grandchildren did enjoy the plain buttered linguine. read more

Previously reviewed this restaurant as having so so food for the price but we ate here again recently. The menu has been updated with affordable entrees and happy hour choices. Honestly this restaurant is one of the very few white tablecloth nicer dining spots with a great sunset view and waterfront dining in northern Pinellas county. We have gone for several specials occasions and ordered their multi course meal - a rose and candle on each table - well trained servers - polite and efficient - they give special attention to occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries, the meal is never rushed. The menu is standard fare European cuisine - what makes it unique is watching an incredible over the water sunset while enjoying fine dining. There aren't that many other restaurants - other than at hotels - with this level of old time elegance. Their more casual outdoor patio dining is also lovely for sunset and features a full bar with a nice menu - I've enjoyed a nice sunset drink and appetizer at this location as well. The price is fair and the ambience nice - especially if you want to step it up a notch. I can't really say that any dish has been a standout that I remember, however I did appreciate not being rushed and being shown the extra attention on specials occasions and I love the view! read more

We were there for lunch on Saturday at the recommendation of someone on the street since we are not from the area. The grouper sandwich was skimpy, over cooked, and dry. I went here for lunch with my family after receiving a few recommendations. Very beautiful location as we sat outside on the dock today. The food was also delicious. We ordered burgers, lobster roll, lobster linguini, etc, and once again no complaints. Even though we were satisfied with our meals, I'm giving this place three stars for two reasons. The first was our server, he was not a very pleasant man and seemed impatient. We planned to stay for a few more drinks and dessert but he just gave us the check so we went elsewhere. Second was the price. I understand it is one of the nicer restaurants in Dunedin and the view adds a few bucks, but you can do much better for less. If you are looking for some place outside and by the water, I recommend Island Way Grill in Clearwater. Same if not better vibe, quality of food is similar if not better, and the price is much less. I'm relocating to the area and may come back, but it definitely will not be often. read more
