That said I'll be brief as if you've been to McDonalds, outside of service, the food should be about the same. As far as the food is concerned, I've had a lot of visits. One time I ordered the McRib special with a diet coke and fries. My McRib extremely dry with barely any bbq sauce, and almost all the onions missed the sandwich. The fries tasted as if they had been sitting for a while as they were soggy and limp. However, another visit my sandwich was warm, had a lot of sauce and all the toppings made it to the dance! Also, the fries were warm this time too which was a pleasant surprise. For those "ice cream" zealots, I didn't inquire if they ice cream machine was working as the story goes..... My kids shared their food and I found the Big Mac dry as well since they didn't put much sauce on it. To many times I've seen the middle bun "naked." Their chicken sandwiches I'd probably rate the lowest of the fast-food restaurants since they're dry, small and only have pickles. The nuggets are good when hot but I'd say 4 out of 10 times they're lukewarm at best. Be sure to ask for your sauce and check the bag as the servers miss it often as well. Overall, the people here are nice but the food is much like all McDonalds now adays if you don't catch them at the exact right time. I went through the drive-thru around 4:30 p.m. and ordered the 5 piece Slim's Meal. The parking lot was nearly empty, and there was no one ahead of me. My food was handed to me almost immediately, but when I got home less than five minutes later, the fries were cold and the chicken tenders were hard, chewy, and not even lukewarm. Their tenders are usually fresh, hot, and crispy. This meal tasted like it had been sitting for a while. The service was disappointing, too. There was no greeting. Just a smug,"can I get your name?" I could barely hear the employee as she was taking my order. After ordering, I drove around to the window. Still...no greeting or even a smile. Like her goal was to put forth as little effort as possible. My cold fries were warmer than the welcome... I understand that everyone has an off day, but this isn't the first time I've received less than exceptional customer service at Slim Chickens. On one recent occasion, my husband and I walked in and waited at the register while an employee who had seen us come in continued wiping tables. I do appreciate the fact that she was cleaning, but she was in no hurry to take our order. When she eventually came over, WE were the ones who greeted her. The least she could have said is,"welcome in." This hasn't been my experience with every employee, but it has happened often enough that I've noticed a pattern. Customers shouldn't feel like an inconvenience. I'd love to see more attention paid to both the food being served and the way customers are greeted, because I know Slim Chickens can do better. I hope management puts more emphasis on training their staff on friendly, attentive service. I'm not asking anyone to be cheerful every second of a shift, but a greeting and the sense that customers are welcome should be a basic standard. Your employees are the face of the restaurant and often a customer's first impression. How they're trained and treated matters, and it shows in the experience they give customers.
