With the number of terrible reviews, I am going to add my 2-cents because my experience wasn't near that bad. 1st, in case you're not familiar with Sonic, the menu is quite good, with a broad variety of items, especially in the drink category. We ordered in advance on the app, which may have saved us on the wait time. Our food was delivered as ordered and tasted fine. The server was polite. The relatively new Smashburger met my expectations, as did the onion rings & Blast drink. The facilities are kinda worn, like the place has been there a long time, but the ordering screens are modern and large. Gotta give a 4 on this visit! read more

With only one car in line, this should never happen. Clearly there is an issue with management and staffing otherwise there wouldn't be a 1.5 starting. I had to edit this. I initially left a five star review. This Sonic, for the past few years, has been HORRIBLE. Poor management, poor training of team members and appalling service standards plagued this location and it was a wonder that they didn't close it. I have been T-boned by a truck while waiting in the drive thru line at this location and the staff working at the time didn't even come out to check on me when I was clearly stressed. Other patrons in line made sure I was okay and helped me get out of my car as I was trapped. That same day while waiting for the police to arrive for the accident report (as the guy who hit me with his truck fled the scene) I watched the staff members pour out into the parking area fighting and arguing with unprofessional vulgarity and I couldn't believe what I was witnessing. I have often had to drive to another Sonic location because this one was closed early, and I've often left after waiting for decades while their short staffed team attempted to manage a lengthy drive thru line extending around the building with no hope of forward progress. I would go a while without visiting this location and then try it again in hopes things changed, and sometimes there was hope- especially in the mornings, when they had hired a new friendly face that exuded the personality changes this Sonic needed- but because of the poor management situation none of these incredible people stayed and things would return to the usual disparity. So why the initial five star review for a place that clearly doesn't deserve to even exist in the first place? This morning, I stopped by as there was no one in line and no one waiting at the kiosks. I wanted a bag of ice and a few drinks. I couldn't order ice on the app so I would lose my half off discount on drinks not ordering through the app. It's often the little things that make the greatest impression. The kind, pleasant, cheerful young lady helming the drive thru (revealed to be Kaylynn, admirably the new shift manager) gladly offered the half off of the drinks and promptly prepped a bag of ice for me. When I pulled up to pay, a warm greeting ensued as the new General manager (his name is Tony) and Kaylynn both came out to greet me and hand me the items I ordered. These two alone are worthy of a 20 star rating. So I would like anyone who views this review to disregard the poor ratings this location has received thus far, because although it is warranted for the past, it clearly is an unfair rating for the current assembly of constituency in place at this Sonic. This new management team is exactly what this Sonic needed, and I hope they can find and retain like hearted and minded individuals to reflect the new, clearly positive culture they imbue. Offering $13 an hour to new hires (as the sign indicates) may not be as high as it should be, but it's a start in the right direction. I have high hopes for this Sonic under the new management team. So, this five star rating is for the absolutely outstanding new start that Tony and Kaylynn represent. That being said, I had to come back and change the rating. The reason? A few days after I first posted this, I discovered that although the morning shift may seem to be an improvement, the night shift remains exactly the same. I experienced a ridiculously long wait despite ordering on the app for curbside pickup. The drive thru had only a few cars in line yet they waited around 30 minutes. I waited that time to finally be told by what appeared to be the single worker that they were out of sweet tea, which is all I ordered. Usually when they are out they brew more. So this made me wonder if they were out of actual tea bags and couldn't brew more or if they were out of prepared tea and just didn't bother to replenish it. I requested two Route 44 cups if ice instead, deciding to grab a gallon of tea somewhere else as it was getting late and it was to accompany a late dinner at home. I waited an additional 20 minutes for absolutely no one to bring me two cups of ice so I left to get the gallon of tea before it got later. I returned seeing that there were only two cars in line at the drive thru, and only a handful of cars parked at the kiosks, so I risked it. And sat there behind one car who was waiting for someone to answer the speaker. It was as if no one was home. I grew angry and pulled out of the line. I got my cups of ice from QT, down the road a few miles. Passing Sonic on the way home the same cars were still sitting there along with an additional car that was circling the parking lot of Sonic when I left. I then noticed that it wasn't just Sonic. Every fast food restaurant in the Indian Trail/Monroe area of the Charlotte metro is plagued by poor service, disappointing food that you regret ordering afterward, and long, painfully slow wait lines to acquire said food. I've often bypassed the area to get drive thru or curbside food elsewhere. read more

Absolutely awful experience. Person on intercom was extremely rude. There was no confirmation the order had been placed, she just went silent. Food arrived stone cold and wrong. I tried to pay and was told it was already paid for (but the screen didn't prompt me to pay). Later found it was the wrong receipt with the right order. Then carhop had to take my card inside to charge it. Receipt says cash w wrong amount. I hate being that customer, but after terrible service three or more times--I just can't justify coming back here. If you have another option, go with it. read more

The time before that they gave me the wrong drink. It doesn't matter though, they are all just watered down anyway. Stopped here for a late afternoon treat with my toddler. Pulled into one of the parking spaces & someone came out 5 minutes later to say they're only doing drive thru. Not the worst situation, just odd that there were no signs and people kept trying to order at those parking spaces. We ordered a small "jumbo popcorn chicken", a Diet Coke, and a vanilla ice cream cone. They gave me a coke instead of the vanilla ice cream cone. When I told the guy that's not what I ordered he started reading the ticket to me. I told him there was a mistake, they probably misheard what I said. He stared at me for a minute before I said "I don't want the coke". He said he could fix it. He came back 7 minutes later with a milkshake saying "this is the closest thing we have to an ice cream cone". If someone from Sonic reads this, 1. Put signs up if you're drive thru only 2. Vanilla ice cream cones are on your menu, please let your staff know 3. The "jumbo" popcorn chicken is tidbits of fried breading, so maybe rename it. read more

Stopped at this location for my favorite number 1 single with tots and a sweet tea. Everything was made to perfection. I relieved two mints and ketchup without asking. The drive through didn't have its own window so it puzzled me to stop near the doorway to have my payment taken. It took a minute for someone to assist me but I was greeted and on my way once the payment was processed from the inside. The black lady worked here was so rude. I didn't have enough time to look at her name. I came to pick up a Uber eat order (this was my first time delivery for Uber eat). The app told me to park and enter to the restaurant to pick up the order. However, there was only drive through spots. I accidentally came through the door with the small note "employer only" that I couldn't see before entered. That black lady yelled at me loudly "get out". I got out right away and saw the note... I ate here for the first time and I really enjoyed it. I got a hotdog with tots and a blue raspberry slushy and my mom got 2 hotdogs with fries and a sweet tea. The only reason why I gave this a 4star is because the wait took 30 minutes for our food and my moms fries were cold and really soggy and they just didn't taste good. Well went to this place figuring it would be alright havent had Sonic in years, Well to my surprise I should have read other reviews and avoided this place, took almost 1hr to get the food slow as shit, Snails and Slugs move faster. Food was nasty my dog didnt want to eat it either thats saying alot my dog eats everything. I used my card to pay you know the contactless payments, Well a big surprise to me is when I checked my bank account and found fraudulent charges on my card after using in this place so just to show they have hired crooked workers. If I was someone looking for fast food I would just avoid this place. Now I have an open case with my bank for charges that I never approved of from a worker in this establishment. So, I am done going to this location. I supported the new owner a few years ago when he said things would change and get better at this location. Well, it has not. How long does it take to fix speaker/where you order if you do not go to a stall? The stalls, well, only about 5 at any given time are working, always a paper indicating it is not working on most.Today, I stood for 20 minutes at the patio spot, finally i get someone that asks to take my order, but guess what, we have a famous mcdonalds issue that I encountered just 2 weeks ago as well as today. the ice cream machine is down.
