It had been over 15 years since I last had Boiling Point and I was in the mood for hot pot so I gave this a try. I ordered it via DoorDash and there were no problems with the way the food was packaged, other than forgetting to include the utensils. I checked the box for them too! I am definitely going to be doing this again! The food was so good! I got their #1 house special hot soup with an add-on of mined braised pork rice. Both were fantastic. The house special was loaded with so many ingredients including, clams, stinky tofu, tomatoes, and a generous portion of sliced pork. The braised minced pork rice looked like it wouldn't taste very good but it was really delicious! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only downside was how the room smelled afterwards because of the stinky tofu but I love the smell.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Sorry to everyone else around me LOL

Introduction & discussion My only issue with this hot pot spot is the looong wait. But then again, I don't know if this is a normal thing for hot pot. Any professionals, inform me in the comments. Trust me, after the wait was over--the result was amazing. ! additional info for newcomers to hotpot, read next review for more info ! If you are knew to hot pot, keep in mind few things. You will enter, place your order, wait a few minutes and you recieve drinks and noodles. Wait a while, then you get the pot with the soup. Let it cook and enjoy. After you get the bill. Allergies & Preferences Just in case anyone is wondering about spice or allergies: The waiters will ask you about how spicy your soup is beforehand. Review Well, back to the review...I was pleased during my visit in boiling point. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is a bit crowded, but there is a bit of space between the tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is amazing. The staff were so patient. When I accidentally dropped my chopsticks, they immediately came and help. They greeted us from the beginning, helped us out with honesty and patience, that I will thank them for. To conclude this review, the food was excellent. Loved the beef soup with the vegetables and the soup base. Thank you Boiling Point for the amazing experiance. Excited to come again soon.

Stopped by with a friend to satisfy my hot pot craving - this boiling point location does not disappoint! Service was quick and friendly on a weekday afternoon. Parking isn't too difficult in the plaza. The food is great! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music can be a bit loud sometimes which makes catching up and chatting a bit difficult.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating is an also bit cramped.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The AC could definitely be a bit better too- it gets warm especially when eating hot soup.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I've been wanting to try the hot pot at Boiling Point for so long. Boiling Point is the top destination for Individual Hot Pot, specializing in personalized portions made with very fresh ingredients. Their signature hot soups are inspired by authentic Taiwanese flavors. Hot soups were served, along with sides of rice or vermicelli and iced teas. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, and the staff were very attentive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I went during lunch hour and I waited outside the restaurant for less than ten minutes, but it was worth the wait. I ordered the Japanese Miso Hot Soup with a side of vermicelli. The Japanese Miso Hot Soup is a savory and comforting dish featuring seafood such as crab, shrimp, and clams, and a rich miso broth. It includes vegetables, pork slices, dried tofu slices, and udon, providing a savory "umami" flavor. I immediately drenched the vermicelli into the hot broth and once the vermicelli was cooked, I took them out and put them inside a bowl. The vermicelli was delicious, so are the seafood, tofu, and vegetables. I would go back to Boiling Point and try their other hot soups sometime when the outdoor temperature is cool or chilly. Plenty of parking.

I came here on a Thursday night around 8 pm. Typically we don't go to boiling point because there's usually a long wait. We put ourselves on the waitlist and it only took about 15 minutes before we got seated. You scan a QR code for the menu. There was a milk tea deal for 50% off from 3 pm-closing. I got the seafood and hot tofu soup, mild. It was fine, but I recall when I've had this at other boiling points previously, it came with a small baby octopus and fish balls filled with roe or something, which they didn't have either of these this time. I got the Cha jelly milk tea as part of the 50% off milk tea deal. I liked this drink as it didn't have a strong tea flavor and the jelly added some texture to the drink. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Relatively smaller location compared to Garden Grove and Irvine.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

It's Friday and it's lunchtime me and a good friend decided let's find a good place to eat. That's a little different than our Friday and usual Korean barbecue so we found this place the one and only boiling point in Gardena getting there was not too bad coming from the 91 freeway just right off of Western Avenue getting into the parking area and where the food is really off the street so you gotta go through the side driveway to get to the parking lot in the back. After you find parking, you'll find the entrance to boiling point double doors and you'll be greeted with the waiter or waitress and you can see the number of tables in front of you. It's just a long narrow hallway with both seating on on both side of the wall and the cash register and food area is to your left. I count roughly about 1415 tables that can seat up two pairs of two with front to back enough room to put two hot pot stove with a little bit of room in between for a bowl of rice or noodle. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The establishment is not fancy, but it is lively and average noise.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is perfect for a couple or a pair but anything bigger than that you might as well find a different boiling point or a restaurant altogether definitely recommending for smaller groups of twos separated by tables[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and I highly recommend getting there if you want for lunchtime right after 11 AM we got there roughly around 11:38 AM and there was only two tables of seating up to two left. I have not been to this particular one, but I am going to recommend it because it is just fantastic. Boiling point does not disappoint. I guess another way of saying that is highly recommending boiling point. It is the best if not the best. Well, I tried the Taiwanese spicy soup that has combination of all the inner my buddy got the typical beef soup with medium spice. All I can really say is the food and soup is phenomenal. I'm talking about it can literally make you be full and a good feeling of being full with good food combination of noodles, vegetables, proteins, and a little kick of spice or you can add a little bit more since they have side sauces for you to use. I am highly recommending this place. Lastly the staff hair is always helping you making sure you are satisfy and meet all your needs. The lovely Sammi was always a tentative to our table ensuring we have what we need. Making sure if we needed more fire or more soup it was just awesome.

Review for their shady business - $7.64 later, you get a cup full of ice. See picture and video!

Boiling Point prices have definitely gone up in recent years. It's still delicious and satisfies your hot point cravings. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's relatively clean, when you come in you can waitlist on the iPad or they'll have a QR code for you to scan[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This BP location is in a very busy plaza with lots of dining options.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd recommend coming before 6pm if you don't want to wait long. We always come before 6 since it's easy to park and we never have to wait more than 15 mins to get a table. Come later, parking can be a pain to find in the plaza and the waits become much longer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's also one of the smaller BP locations I've been too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One downside to this location is probably the slow-ish service. Mainly in that, you really have to get their attention for anything (ordering, water, napkins, check, etc.). They're not proactive with the service, but when you do ask for something, they do it right away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sometimes I'll see a table left alone without be cleaned for a while.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Reminder - you can ask them to turn off your flame if it's too hot for you, ask for more flame if it's dying out or ask for more broth if you're running low. Honestly, you can't really go wrong with any of their options, it's really a matter of what you're craving and levels of spice. Each order comes with rice or vermicelli. You'll get a good mix of carbs, veggies, proteins. Safe options would be the beef since the house has stinky tofu that can take over the dish If you're not a fan of stinky tofu. I like stinky tofu, but not in their broth Other favorites of mine are the milk cream curry and lamb. Sometimes, they'll have a pomelo one as well and that's pretty good. I don't usually get a large options, but miso is good and if you like spicy, try the Taiwanese spicy. It's a blast. Overall a good BP location and the closest one for me to visit.

Boiling Point Gardena has honestly been one of my go-to spots for years, but I never really took the time to write a review until now. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is casual, cozy, and always has that busy lively feeling that makes it feel comforting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food has always been consistently good, especially the lunch special. The portions are actually pretty big for the price and always leave me full. What really made this visit stand out though was the service from the new trainee Michale. He was super attentive, friendly, and kept checking in on us throughout the meal. Normally the service at Boiling Point can feel a little mediocre, so it was really refreshing to see someone putting in genuine effort and making customers feel welcomed. Definitely wanted to give him credit for that.

Boiling point is always satisfying when you are craving soup. Not too many places in the Southbay you can get Taiwanese/hot pot style soups so this is def a gem. If there are items in the soup you don't want you can just ask them to take them out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It does get busy so I always try to go during off times. Never has been an issue for me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seats are super hard so I brought in my donut pillow lol.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I haven't been here in years but most recently I got their Taiwanese Spicy. Comes in a large size and I def had leftovers. Spicy wise it is pretty spicy but if you like spicy food you'll be fine. If you're a medium spicy person it will prob be too spicy for you. I added more of their chili sauces for flavor. Usually I don't order drinks but I got a winter melon tea and the iced sweet drink paired well with the spicy soup.

As always, a visit here is a must when we're in town! Yes. The line and wait is long. Ah, as long as you have time, it's worth the wait! Had the beef (no spice) with extra cilantro. Used all the sauces except the chili, so there was a slight kick but not too much;)! Managed to almost finish my whole pot! Cheryl did the best at cleaning up her hot pot, I was second, and Jeni had to leave some in her pot unfinished. We were so stuffed we could barely breathe, ha ha! We chose noodles over rice, which comes pre packed ! They chose green tea and I chose the winter melon tea. Yum!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great service, great staff teamwork on moving guests through their dining experience so others may also enjoy, and their restroom is clean, spacious and bright.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (Careful, the door is heavy...) Thanks again and we'll be back! Oh, they have a summer bowl special with Lu Wei appetizer. Do check that out!

    Cassie D.

Yes, in summertime we still eat hot soup. Lol My husband and I arrived about 10-15 minutes early and were second in line. Fernando, who was working that day, was so nice and offered to add our name to the list right away--I really appreciated that because not all places do this. Some restaurants make you feel like you're a bother if you show up early, but here we felt welcomed. The food was excellent! I ordered the Miso and my husband had the Curry. We also tried the Garlic Pork appetizer, which was delicious. The portions were very generous--we both ended up asking for to-go bowls. We also signed up for the rewards program, and we're definitely looking forward to coming back. Overall, an awesome place with great food and friendly service!

Lunch special (one entree and a drink), also got a side via influencer promo code
    Luke B.

Pretty small location, so it gets busy fast. Expect to wait during the dinner rush. Lunch is probably the best time to go due to less crowds plus their lunch special is a good deal. Food is decent. When it gets busy you have to hunt down the staff and ask if you want your flame turned off or your water refilled. Otherwise they're super friendly.

We ordered the xiao long bao, broccoli beef, beef rolls, and chicken chow mein. The xiao long bao was excellent with a good amount of soup in each dumpling, and the beef rolls were probably my favorite item, especially dipped in a mix of black vinegar and soy sauce. The broccoli beef had a nice flavor, though I wished it had a little more meat. The chicken chow mein was the weakest dish for me: the noodle texture was great, but the overall flavor didn't stand out as much as I expected. Ordering was easy and the menu was very approachable thanks to the pictures. The restaurant is on the smaller side, which actually made it easier to get a server's attention when needed. Food also came out pretty quickly. The ambiance is straightforward and comfortable -- nothing fancy, just a solid neighborhood restaurant. Because it's small, you may have to wait if it gets busy, but tables seemed to turn over quickly thanks to the fast service. One practical tip: the portion sizes are bigger than they look. The beef pieces were tender, and the portion of bean sprouts was just right without overcrowding the dish. Wonton Soup Noodle: The thin noodles were perfectly al dente. The broth was light but flavorful. The wontons had nice thin wraps, and the fillings were well seasoned and with pleasantly firm consistence. We left the restaurant feeling 110% full and satisfied. We were the first to arrive and had the place to ourselves for about 15min. It was packed by the time we left! Glad to see they are doing well! Since our last visit, the interior changed a bit. There's " art " on the windows - photos depicting Korean food culture. The banchan offering also changed. In addition to the kimchi and the cabbage, we received cucumbers and noodles. The noodles were a tad salty. We ordered to share: Pork neck stew - small. There is more than enough for two people to share. This is our favorite dish and will usually order this. Seafood pancake Delicious! I do wish it was slightly crispier. Fried laver This is new item for us. It's very simple. Seafood wrapped around seasoned glass noodles. Simple but addictive! Iced Sikhye They used to have a slushy machine that churned this out. I was so sad when that machine disappeared. The drink has reappeared as a cold drink. I'll take it! I still prefer the slushy version! Enjoy!

Worst restaurant experience I've had in ages.

Everything you want from yakitori. Would especially recommend every option with chicken skin on it,…read moreincluding the pure chicken skin skewer. Crunchy, chewy, salty, deeply chicken-y. The meatball is tender and flavorful, full of ginger and green onion. The custard was perfect for anyone who enjoys a rich dessert. The caramel was perfectly dark to balance out the overall sweetness. Staff are great and the atmosphere is cozy. It is very popular, so expect it to be pretty packed. Would recommend a reservation, but there is a waitlist if you have a little patience.

The first thing I tried was the Sizzling Mushroom Gravy over Crispy Rice; The dish was to die for and my personal favorite thing I tried. I don't even know how to describe how flavorful and well put together the gravy was with mushroom pieces that were perfectly soft and easy to eat. Next was the salad which was so fresh, citrusy, and tasty; It was salty and all the flavors complemented each other so well forming a perfect citrusy salad. After that was the shrimp tempura. It was not too fried/flaky. It was kind of like a taquito. The shrimps flavor was very fresh with a complementary umami flavor. The Sardine Sashimi was super high quality. It was super soft and fatty and ended with a heavy pleasant fishy flavor. The miso grilled cod was great. Not much to say about it was almost creamy and the miso was good. I ate the skin too and it tasted great. The main part of this place is the soba. The kikouchi soba are thicker 100% buckwheat noodles that were very well cooked and pleasant to eat. The Plum "Ume" broth was so refreshing and nice. I ate it cold; I probably would have preferred it hot but the is just a personal preference. The Ginger Pork was great. The pork itself was super gingery without being too pungent. The shredded cabbage was super easy to pick up and eat and the side of noodle salad and miso soup were great complements to the meal. I can tell no corners were cut anywhere and that Otafuku puts a little of effort into every meal they prepare. There is great care for all of the preparations and it was a very special meal. I felt like I was in Japan for a second as the feel of the restaurant is very "homey" and the ambiance is a nice cheerful atmosphere.

However, this is where the issues began. As they went down the list, we were wondering if they had called us. Apparently, they had but it was so soft we could barely here it until one of the works claimed to have called us 3 times at this point. No biggie. So they sit us in the very back, bring us the share plates, and water cups......with no water pitcher. After 2 minutes of being seated and not even having a chance to settle in, we are asked if we are ready to order. When I asked for a few moments for us to finish revising the menu, she seemed annoyed. More so, I asked for water.... You know for the water cups they gave us? Ironically, based on our location, I could see many tables sat and noticed that upon seating their parties received the pitcher but we had to ask for it. Anyway, food (while not pictured) was delicious and came out relatively fast. The green beans where crunchy and savory while the Don Don noodles where hearty with a nice heat. This meat roll was also tasty. However, as food came out, I had ordered a Sapporo. When one of the workers brought it out and opened it table side, some splashed on the table. Tried not to mind but what definitely bother me was when she wiped it with her hand! As if using a towel is outdated or anything, I was shocked. She didn't even get anything rather just smear it over the table. Her whole demeanor was horrid and unwelcoming. I've worked restaurants for years but that's not attitude given it's a tip based system. To be honest, it seemed like other tables we're enjoying themselves and the ambiance seems nice. However, we did not enjoy the service, attitude, and lack of checking in. We had to raise our hand to request more food and got checked in on once. Overall, super disappointing, especially for the occasion and the fact my friend rated this place highly. If visiting, hope to give them another chance and for there to be better service.
