I've been coming to Boiling Point since pretty much the beginning, which is probably why it has taken me this long to write a review. I've eaten my way through nearly the entire menu over the years, watched the milk curry arrive as a promotion and somehow become part of the furniture, tried the vegetarian pot back when it came with those surprisingly great flat chewy noodles, ordered delivery, eaten here for lunch, dinner, and everything in between. There were years when this place was ridiculously consistent. And when Boiling Point is good, it is still really fucking good. The House Special is still my default. Medium spice, extra quail eggs, iced tofu, the whole thing bubbling away in front of you. My wife gets the beef. Their house sauce is salty as hell but delicious. The lunch drink is a nice touch and I've always liked that they keep changing the little extras over the years, from konnyaku jelly to the chia drink they're doing now. There's a reason I keep coming back. The problem is that somewhere along the way, the experience became wildly inconsistent. I've repeatedly had stomach issues after eating here over the years. I originally blamed the spice, so I stopped ordering the Taiwanese Spicy. It still happened occasionally with other pots, so I honestly don't know what the culprit is and I'm not going to pretend I do. But it definitely changed how often I come. More noticeable is the cleanliness. The gray burner trays underneath the pots are routinely wet, greasy and visibly dirty. Extra bowls and dishes have arrived wet often enough that I notice it. None of this necessarily means anything sinister is happening in the kitchen, but when your entire meal is sitting on top of an apparatus that looks like it hasn't been wiped down properly, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Service has the same inconsistency. Everyone is usually nice enough, but sometimes it feels like teenagers playing restaurant. Lots of "Everything good? Need anything? Anything else?" without anyone really paying attention to whether you need something. Fake attentive is probably the best way I can describe it. One practical piece of advice, avoid the tables closest to the bathroom if you have a choice. There is nothing quite like enjoying a bubbling pot of fermented tofu and occasionally being reminded that the human digestive system has another end. And yet, look at the photos. The damn thing was delicious. That's Boiling Point for me. I can't give it five stars because after this many years I've seen too much inconsistency in cleanliness, ingredients and service. I also can't pretend it's bad, because I've probably eaten every pot they've made and will almost certainly be back when the craving hits. Three stars. A longtime relationship that could use some work.
It had been over 15 years since I last had Boiling Point and I was in the mood for hot pot so I gave this a try. I ordered it via DoorDash and there were no problems with the way the food was packaged, other than forgetting to include the utensils. I checked the box for them too! I am definitely going to be doing this again! The food was so good! I got their #1 house special hot soup with an add-on of mined braised pork rice. Both were fantastic. The house special was loaded with so many ingredients including, clams, stinky tofu, tomatoes, and a generous portion of sliced pork. The braised minced pork rice looked like it wouldn't taste very good but it was really delicious! The only downside was how the room smelled afterwards because of the stinky tofu but I love the smell. Sorry to everyone else around me LOL
Stopped by with a friend to satisfy my hot pot craving - this boiling point location does not disappoint! Service was quick and friendly on a weekday afternoon. Parking isn't too difficult in the plaza. The food is great! The music can be a bit loud sometimes which makes catching up and chatting a bit difficult. Seating is an also bit cramped. The AC could definitely be a bit better too- it gets warm especially when eating hot soup.
I've been wanting to try the hot pot at Boiling Point for so long. Boiling Point is the top destination for Individual Hot Pot, specializing in personalized portions made with very fresh ingredients. Their signature hot soups are inspired by authentic Taiwanese flavors. Hot soups were served, along with sides of rice or vermicelli and iced teas. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, and the staff were very attentive. I went during lunch hour and I waited outside the restaurant for less than ten minutes, but it was worth the wait. I ordered the Japanese Miso Hot Soup with a side of vermicelli. The Japanese Miso Hot Soup is a savory and comforting dish featuring seafood such as crab, shrimp, and clams, and a rich miso broth. It includes vegetables, pork slices, dried tofu slices, and udon, providing a savory "umami" flavor. I immediately drenched the vermicelli into the hot broth and once the vermicelli was cooked, I took them out and put them inside a bowl. The vermicelli was delicious, so are the seafood, tofu, and vegetables. I would go back to Boiling Point and try their other hot soups sometime when the outdoor temperature is cool or chilly. Plenty of parking.
I came here on a Thursday night around 8 pm. Typically we don't go to boiling point because there's usually a long wait. We put ourselves on the waitlist and it only took about 15 minutes before we got seated. You scan a QR code for the menu. There was a milk tea deal for 50% off from 3 pm-closing. I got the seafood and hot tofu soup, mild. It was fine, but I recall when I've had this at other boiling points previously, it came with a small baby octopus and fish balls filled with roe or something, which they didn't have either of these this time. I got the Cha jelly milk tea as part of the 50% off milk tea deal. I liked this drink as it didn't have a strong tea flavor and the jelly added some texture to the drink. Relatively smaller location compared to Garden Grove and Irvine.
It's Friday and it's lunchtime me and a good friend decided let's find a good place to eat. That's a little different than our Friday and usual Korean barbecue so we found this place the one and only boiling point in Gardena getting there was not too bad coming from the 91 freeway just right off of Western Avenue getting into the parking area and where the food is really off the street so you gotta go through the side driveway to get to the parking lot in the back. After you find parking, you'll find the entrance to boiling point double doors and you'll be greeted with the waiter or waitress and you can see the number of tables in front of you. It's just a long narrow hallway with both seating on on both side of the wall and the cash register and food area is to your left. I count roughly about 1415 tables that can seat up two pairs of two with front to back enough room to put two hot pot stove with a little bit of room in between for a bowl of rice or noodle. The establishment is not fancy, but it is lively and average noise. It is perfect for a couple or a pair but anything bigger than that you might as well find a different boiling point or a restaurant altogether definitely recommending for smaller groups of twos separated by tables and I highly recommend getting there if you want for lunchtime right after 11 AM we got there roughly around 11:38 AM and there was only two tables of seating up to two left. I have not been to this particular one, but I am going to recommend it because it is just fantastic. Boiling point does not disappoint. I guess another way of saying that is highly recommending boiling point. It is the best if not the best. Well, I tried the Taiwanese spicy soup that has combination of all the inner my buddy got the typical beef soup with medium spice. All I can really say is the food and soup is phenomenal. I'm talking about it can literally make you be full and a good feeling of being full with good food combination of noodles, vegetables, proteins, and a little kick of spice or you can add a little bit more since they have side sauces for you to use. I am highly recommending this place. Lastly the staff hair is always helping you making sure you are satisfy and meet all your needs. The lovely Sammi was always a tentative to our table ensuring we have what we need. Making sure if we needed more fire or more soup it was just awesome.
Boiling Point prices have definitely gone up in recent years. It's still delicious and satisfies your hot point cravings. It's relatively clean, when you come in you can waitlist on the iPad or they'll have a QR code for you to scan This BP location is in a very busy plaza with lots of dining options. I'd recommend coming before 6pm if you don't want to wait long. We always come before 6 since it's easy to park and we never have to wait more than 15 mins to get a table. Come later, parking can be a pain to find in the plaza and the waits become much longer. It's also one of the smaller BP locations I've been too. One downside to this location is probably the slow-ish service. Mainly in that, you really have to get their attention for anything (ordering, water, napkins, check, etc.). They're not proactive with the service, but when you do ask for something, they do it right away. Sometimes I'll see a table left alone without be cleaned for a while. Reminder - you can ask them to turn off your flame if it's too hot for you, ask for more flame if it's dying out or ask for more broth if you're running low. Honestly, you can't really go wrong with any of their options, it's really a matter of what you're craving and levels of spice. Each order comes with rice or vermicelli. You'll get a good mix of carbs, veggies, proteins. Safe options would be the beef since the house has stinky tofu that can take over the dish If you're not a fan of stinky tofu. I like stinky tofu, but not in their broth Other favorites of mine are the milk cream curry and lamb. Sometimes, they'll have a pomelo one as well and that's pretty good. I don't usually get a large options, but miso is good and if you like spicy, try the Taiwanese spicy. It's a blast. Overall a good BP location and the closest one for me to visit.

You will enter, place your order, wait a few minutes and you recieve drinks and noodles. Wait a while, then you get the pot with the soup. Let it cook and enjoy. After you get the bill. Allergies & Preferences Just in case anyone is wondering about spice or allergies: The waiters will ask you about how spicy your soup is beforehand. Review Well, back to the review...I was pleased during my visit in boiling point. Ambiance is a bit crowded, but there is a bit of space between the tables. Service is amazing. The staff were so patient. When I accidentally dropped my chopsticks, they immediately came and help. They greeted us from the beginning, helped us out with honesty and patience, that I will thank them for. To conclude this review, the food was excellent. Loved the beef soup with the vegetables and the soup base. Thank you Boiling Point for the amazing experiance. Excited to come again soon.
Boiling point is always satisfying when you are craving soup. Not too many places in the Southbay you can get Taiwanese/hot pot style soups so this is def a gem. If there are items in the soup you don't want you can just ask them to take them out. It does get busy so I always try to go during off times. Never has been an issue for me. Seats are super hard so I brought in my donut pillow lol. I haven't been here in years but most recently I got their Taiwanese Spicy. Comes in a large size and I def had leftovers. Spicy wise it is pretty spicy but if you like spicy food you'll be fine. If you're a medium spicy person it will prob be too spicy for you. I added more of their chili sauces for flavor. Usually I don't order drinks but I got a winter melon tea and the iced sweet drink paired well with the spicy soup.
As always, a visit here is a must when we're in town! Yes. The line and wait is long. Ah, as long as you have time, it's worth the wait! Had the beef (no spice) with extra cilantro. Used all the sauces except the chili, so there was a slight kick but not too much;)! Managed to almost finish my whole pot! Cheryl did the best at cleaning up her hot pot, I was second, and Jeni had to leave some in her pot unfinished. We were so stuffed we could barely breathe, ha ha! We chose noodles over rice, which comes pre packed ! They chose green tea and I chose the winter melon tea. Yum!!! Great service, great staff teamwork on moving guests through their dining experience so others may also enjoy, and their restroom is clean, spacious and bright. (Careful, the door is heavy...) Boiling Point Gardena has honestly been one of my go-to spots for years, but I never really took the time to write a review until now. The atmosphere is casual, cozy, and always has that busy lively feeling that makes it feel comforting. The food has always been consistently good, especially the lunch special. The portions are actually pretty big for the price and always leave me full. What really made this visit stand out though was the service from the new trainee Michale. He was super attentive, friendly, and kept checking in on us throughout the meal. Normally the service at Boiling Point can feel a little mediocre, so it was really refreshing to see someone putting in genuine effort and making customers feel welcomed. Definitely wanted to give him credit for that.
I was disappointed last night 9/12/26 around 9ishpm, The meat it seems uncooked because of the pinkish color,I tried to cook into boiling soupbase with fire under, but I'm still not convinced that is was cook because of the color of the meat still look raw to me. I ask one of the server if the meat was cooked? she said that she will ask the Cook and took my order to recook or I'm not sure what are they trying to do? then the guy came to are table and told me it was cook and the reason why the meat is pink because of the color of the soup base? I understand on my friends order because her order is the thai kinda soup that it will be color pink or reddish? for mine i dont really understand why the meat is pinkish or reddish and my soupbase is more creamy? but after that conversation, my order came back to my table it doesnt look like they did something ? because it looks the same when they took out from are table, so I ask one of the server again asking him that to make sure the meat is cooked because I dont want to get sick. So I already point out my concern about my food and then I lost my appetite, i did not finish my order because i dont want to take A risk my health its not worth it, instead I took a picture of the soup and you guys judge. I separate the meat on the side so you can see better, My point is we always come here to get are hotpot craving and we never see this kind of color meat. And the cook or I dont know manager should step in and offer to replace my order? FYI my friend had a mild diarrhea in the middle of the night she just told today, good thing i did not eat the meat. check the picture her order is with the red soup base and mine is with meat place on the side. FYI I left generous tip too I still appreciate the effort. Just be mindful of whats the customers feedback.
I've been to quite a few Boiling Points and they've been pretty good. Finally got to try this location and boy was it something. The food was good and the staff were really nice. The inside is sort of long, skinny, and small compared to some of the other locations. I had a good time minus these two other customers next to us that were trying to blow the fire out instead of asking for assistance and ended up splashing quite a bit of the hot broth on my boyfriend :(. read more

I have been to the boiling point in Arcadia. We ate at the Gardena on New year night. Needless to say, it was crowded and the wait was about 40 minutes for a table of 3. The Gardena one is pretty small, probably about 10+ tables. Once we sat down, we ordered two Beef spicy hot pot, and one Korean bean paste. The food came very quickly. The beef was a little over cooked, veggies and vermicelli are fine. Not sure it's it's the spice or what, I felt a very thirsty and my lips were very dry after the meal. Maybe there's why they sell sweet drinks there. The price is alright. Not sure if I will come back again as there are many choices of this type of Taiwanese hotpot. read more

I did enjoy that their broth came with a good amount of toppings. The waitress were very inattentive to our table. We weren't checked up on throughout our meal while others around us were. We informed the worker it was our first time there and they failed to explain how their restaurant works and that they give us more broth if needed. Also I wish I saw the review about them finding a roach come out of their little burner I would've never came here. read more

boiling point has been my go-to for yearss i love the mild/medium beef hotpot, it's one of my favorite comfort foods in the south bay. so happy they brought the chia lemonade shot back for after your meal! lines are always long for dinner so be prepared to wait, but service is usually pretty quick and efficient. great casual dinner for friends/family and i will definitely be back read more

Boiling Point is a comfort spot for me! It definitely hits the spot on a cold day like today. I came here around 4:00 p.m. and was seated right away! Definitely a plus because this place tends to get crowded. Food: 5/5 I got the beef soup, no spice. Even the mild tends to be spicy so just be aware of that. It comes with a side of rice or noodles. I love making my own dipping sauce using the garlic soy sauce, garlic paste, and chili oil. Also, they end the meal with this passion fruit jelly packet. YUM! Service: 4/5 No complaints. I appreciated that they checked up on you. Ambiance: 3/5 It can be a little darker in the restaurant. Plenty of seating for smaller parties. The bathroom is pretty gross...not gonna lie... Even though it happens to be the last place I've eaten with my last two serious relationships over the past four years, Boiling Point is still one of my favourite places to eat! It's that good....despite the associated heartache and memories! No matter what you order, you get a great mix of ingredients that heats up very quickly in front of you. Be ready for deliciousness that will fill you up! I've tried a number of spice options, and I think the medium spice is good enough. The higher spice levels are also tasty, but sometimes, I prefer to sweat a little less and not have such a crazy runny nose. The dipping sauces are great, and I think my favourite mix includes chili garlic and garlic soy. I have also learned to choose rice over noodles because the soup already contains noodles. There are only a few tables inside, so I have always experienced a line out in front of the restaurant. However, once you get in, the service is very fast, so expect to eat soon after you are seated and place your orders. They run an efficient kitchen! I know it's a chain, but it has such a small, local feel to it. Parking nearby can be rough because the lot is small, and there are a number of popular places to find good food and dessert in this plaza. However, there is an extension to this lot, and the walk is only an extra two minutes or so. Lastly, I found the food to be perfectly priced for how satiating everything is. Who doesn't love Boiling Point?! +located in same plaza as furaibo, pho so 1, northern cafe, honeybee, and more. Plenty of parking space available. +free tea deal during lunch hour of open to 3pm! Usually you have the option between black and green tea but when we went, we had a choice of winter melon tea and green tea! +boiling point is almost always packed even prior to opening. We went on Sunday at 1045an (restaurant opens 12am) and there were 2 group ahead of me already! +They open door before store's open so people could put their name down. Put down phone number and you get text alert when table is ready Workers gradually fill the table so don't come in until you receive your text alert that your table is ready. +Workers are very efficient here and you can clearly tell they have a process when they open. Their approach keep things running smoothly nd seamlessly! The employees are all super attentive and nice also. +I love their beef, lamb, and Taiwanese spicy. -I don't really like their house special since it has stinky tofu and that flavor seeps into the broth. I also tried their garlic rice before due to friend's recommendation but I thought it was heavy so I wouldn't recommend. My favorite place to get Taiwanese hot pot! This place serves a variety of different hotpots, all with its own unique broth flavor and items in the bowl. Currently, my personal favorite is the Tawainese Spicy bowl. It is one of their large offerings and it offers a lot of different meats, veggies, and ramen noodles. Every bowl also includes either a rice or vermicelli noodles and if you go during lunch you get a choice of green or black tea included. Do not underestimate the spice, Tawaianese people don't play when it comes to spice!!!! If it's your first time I always reccomend for people to try their beef bowl. It's a great starter! They also have delicious appetizers and an entire boba tea menu. The service at the location is great. Never once have I had a bad experience. The only complaint I would have is that this location can get super packed and the wait time can be forever. This is due to the fact that the restaurant is small compared to their other locations. So be prepared if you plan on going during rush hour! read more

Long wait time, I wish they had a waitlist you could join on Yelp to make it more convenient. We ended up waiting a little more than an hour for a party of 3 on a Sunday afternoon. I love that for lunch they do a complimentary iced tea, so refreshing with your hot pot. I ordered vermicelli as my carb, I didn't end up eating it and just took it home since it was already in a nice little bag. The service could've been better, the workers seem confused running around. This was the most disappointing meal I've had. This place has really gone down hill. In the past few years, there has been so many changes to the ingredients that the it doesn't even taste the same anymore. The beef is grey, dry, and tough now. They switched the vermicelli to a cheaper, lower quality version found in instant hot pot kits. They got rid of the iconic BP mochi fish cake. The sauce options were reduced to only 3 varieties. Now, the tofu skin is replaced with some nasty preservative tofu substitute. I've been coming here for more than 10 years, but it's unrecognizable now. All these changes from corporate have ruined Boiling Point. So many cuts and cost saving measures, and for what? So there's extra money for their employees to wear bright red digital name tags? The employees don't even look happy working there, no one greets the customers and everyone has this blank stare and speaks with the same monotone voice. One of the worst experiences I've ever had, and I wasn't even expecting much. read more
Don't get thrown off by the picture. I didn't do anything to deserve that white stuff on the food... it's just cream, I swear! What I got was the milk cream curry, and it was delicious. I come here a lot and have tried the beef, miso, and house special. All are good, but the the milk curry Thai is my new favorite. Don't get thrown off by the curry part. It's still a light soup, but still has all the flavor as the rich curry that we all know and love. Plenty of meat and veggies that I don't even know what they are, but they taste good! Nice casual setting, and normal service. Went at 4PM and it wasn't too busy. But I know that the wait can be long at times. Good tip: the soup comes kind of hot so what I like to do is to ask the servers to not turn on the fire. That way, you won't burn your tongue. read more

Even in the heat, a comforting hot pot always hits the spot! We got the beef hot soup in medium spice level and extra pork on the side. As someone who can't handle that much spice, it definitely had a kick to it. I would get mild spice next time! I loved the veggies, vermicelli and seafood that came with it. Mixing the sauces all together makes the perfect dip. The portion is big, so sharing one was enough for the both of us. The service is good and efficient too, I would highly recommend if you're looking for a delicious casual meal. read more
This is my second visit. I was looking for something low calorie within driveable distance, so I decided to stop here. There is a tablet within the store where you can sign in to enter the waitlist. Unfortunately there's no way to do it remotely (afaik), but it would be nice as it'd be easier to time our visit to when we'd get called in. For reference, I came in around 2pm on a Wednesday, and the wait was around 20 minutes. The food itself is alright, but definitely not worth the price unless it's your first time or a special occasion. For this visit, I ordered the beef soup, which comes with extra meat (January promotion). Veggies get soft very easily, so I recommend eating it as soon as possible. As for the beef, it was definitely not the best of quality. The quality reminds me of the beef they use at a certain beef bowl chain. I think that for what it is, the entire soup should be $15. I also ordered the spicy fermented tofu. It was good, but again, definitely not worth the price (it should be half). Ambiance is alright. It has a "sausage" layout where everyone would just sit lined up. As for service, it was so-so. It seems like big parties get more attention than the smaller ones (which make sense, but I wish it was consistent no matter the size). The food here is honestly amazing for the 3 times I have been here. I went yesterday on 3/7/26 and as always, the service and food were excellent. While the place is a bit small for larger groups of people, it's still a great spot to dine with friends or family. Their warm lighting is welcoming, especially to those is sensitive to white light. I love all the options they have for soups, my personal favorite is the Taiwanese spicy. They also have levels of spiciness, ranging from none to flaming. As a spicy lover, I always go for flaming, but some dishes to have a certain level that it stays at only. There is also a variety of drinks that you can choose from, including milk teas, and for an extra dollar and a few cents, you can add in boba! This area is also located in a plaza with a bunch of other restaurants and a bit of entertainment stores. If you like hotpot, I would highly recommend this spot to you and friends. read more
Awesome! Is the one word that describes it all. If you go during the busy Sunday lunch rush...Although there is a huge parking lot.... Parking is challenging. Do not be discouraged... it may take a couple of laps around, but you will find. The restaurant is clean and odor free Each of us got our boiling pot. The choice is hot or mild. If you are not someone that eats spicy food... mild will be spicy enough. If you want to order the veggie pot but would like a bit more of flavor (assuming you are not vegetarian) you can order it with beef broth. Through our meal server comes around to offer a re-fill on the broth!!!! AND the rice. We also got complimentary tea (choice or green or black). Overall... I highly recommend it and I Will definitely be back. read more

my family and i always get boiling point for lazy dinners but our soups today just tasted different. there was a vegetable that i am not sure of and it has a texture of a rubber!! i love boiling point but this one disappointed me and my family. read more
Boiling point is perfect for a rainy day! I love boiling point, but it is always so busy! We went for Wednesday lunch, and waited around 45 minutes. The lunch special is so worth it. You get the choice of green tea or black tea, and rice or vermicelli. You also pick a spice level: no spice, mild, medium, hot, or flaming. I usually am pretty good with spice but I stick to a medium here. A tip: even if there's open tables inside it might take you 20 min or so to get seated. Boiling point is so worth it if you're willing to wait! read more

We got boiling point to-go for lunch this past Sunday. We ordered our meals at the front counter, and our soups were ready within 15 minutes! The lunch deal is worth it - it comes with a soup, black or green iced tea, and rice or extra noodles. I got the mild beef soup, rice & the iced green tea. Green tea is a bit sweet, but has good taste. The soup was so warm. Such a good comfort food. The portion size was big too! I honestly can't tell a difference between the dinner vs lunch portion size. Only con about taking to-go is that they charge extra for extra sauces. read more

E X P E R I E N C E we rushed here after our flight. arrived around 1030pm. unfortunately there were already a few others waiting to be sat so dine in was closed. it was packed! we didn't get to enjoy the dine in experience. we did however do take out. we received our food in 15 mins! F O O D house, med, vermicelli lamb, med, vermicelli we were starving but the amount of food was incredible. we couldn't even finish. there was a good amount of variety of additions and a balance of umami flavor. Yea they do it's just not consistent. Some days they're on Uber eats and sometimes they're not. Like today 08/14/22 they're open on Uber eats

There's tables outside but no flame. Kinda sucks but at least you get to eat it there. Only two tables. Lot of foot traffic from the other restaurants.
