I went to this Gardena location with friends who were visiting last week. The food was fine but the service could have been better. Not even 5 min from being seated, we were rushed to order when we didn't look at the menu yet. This happened twice. When we WERE ready, no one tended to us for a while. My friend also ordered their rice special and didn't get his food until 20 min after my food showed up. We assumed it was forgotten. We asked for the food and apparently it's as sitting out for a bit at their counter. Soon after, I was halfway done with my soup and took a short break then the server assumed I was done and without asking, stacked dishes into my bowl. I was upset about it because I was not finished with my food. I was reluctant to give a tip on the bill for the poor service but I've decided to just let it go and gave it anyway. I used to be a food server in the past so I get sometimes you forget but accountability and making up for the mistakes should be considered. I got takeaway from here and the food wasn't good. I got a spicy miso hotpot and it was soooooo salty. The soup had very thick consistency that was way too heavy. I got a side of rice and the clear noodles as well. Those were fine. The beef or pork whatever meat was in it was so dry and chewy like it was precooked and frozen then just thrown in to order. I'll try to get medium spicy next time to see if that changes the saltiness and soup consistency but my takeaway experience was not enjoyable. read more

Consistently good. Place still gets pretty busy, even at opening. Make sure to get on the waitlist ASAP. However, once seated, service is quick. My go to is the lamb, medium spicy with steamed rice or vermicelli. I love that they brought back the blood cubes instead of the blood cubes with rice. I am really disappointed, seems like the quality of this place really took a steep decline. There were dirty rags left near open water pitchers that are being served to customers. Cleaning solutions left near people who are eating. And if it couldn't get worse, there were employees who emptied the trash in the bathroom and walked through the whole entire restaurant while people are eating. I believe that's what the back door is for. At the end of this rough dinner, we waited for 15 mins for someone to pick up the check, but no one did. So we finally went up to the counter to pay, and there's a group of employees chit chatting with their masks down. Whats the point of wearing them? Either wear them or don't. I've been coming to this personal hot pot restaurant for a number of years, and while the prices have gone up, the food is still excellent. I recommend coming here for the lunch special, because you get a free green or black iced tea with your meal. And this small restaurant tends to be less busy too. You can choose from an assortment of different hot pots, ranging from seafood to meat to Taiwanese and Thai specials. All of the ingredients are listed out, which is a good thing, because each bowl comes packed with items. Your entree comes with a spice level of your choice (none to "Flaming Hot") and a side of rice or vermicelli glass noodles. I tried the appetizer called the "Holy Cow," which was a chilled assortment of beef. This is a pretty typical appetizer in Chinese cuisine, it was refreshing and spicy, seasoned with mouth-numbing Sichuan peppercorn. For my entree, I got the Korean bean paste hot pot, which has a broth stained a vibrant terra cotta red from chili, and owing its fermented flavor from the Korean soybean paste doenjang. It was delicious! There are dipping sauces at each table for you to dip your noodles, meat, and veggies in. All in all, Boiling Point is an entertaining and interactive dining experience. Signed up in-person for reservation. Waited 2.5 hours to get a text that asked us to check in soon. I went back there in 20min, which I was not aware I had to check in within 10 mins after receiving the text. The text message didn't specify it. The waitress and manager refused to seat us because they said we checked in too late and we should have known there's only 10 mins window because the policies are all written on the poster. Then he pointed at one of posters at the restaurant. As a customer, am I supposed to look all the posters and be familiar with all your polices at the restaurant? Isn't your responsibility to let the customers know about 10 mins window check-in via the text message? As a customer, am I supposed to wait outside for 2.5 hours without going anywhere far? As a manager, are not customer satisfaction your first priority? And if you can't do this for us out of courtesy, maybe... you should not be a manager? I know it's so packed and busy, but if you don't have the capacity of offering customer deals, maybe just don't? Despite the fact that so many people were still waiting outside to be seated, I could be next even I came to check in late due to your lack of communication with customers. I love that you can come here any time of the year and get the same experience and I say that because they blast the AC so you can enjoy the soup without sweating so much in the summer. I came here with my friend, who I havent seen in months, for an early dinner. We got sat in the booth. Pretty comfy. We both got the beef w/ mild spicy and noodles. It was very yummy and Ianaged to finished the whole thing. My favorite go to is the beef. I've tried the house special, korean paste and lamb soup. However, the beef is still my favorite. Usually calling in makes it much easier to pick and go but now they have decided that they are no longer picking up phones.. I am a little dumbfounded that they have a phone but choose not to answer it.. If you are short on staff, management should be manning this position or at least notify people in the voicemail so people don't waste their time attempting to call togo. When my friend from Taiwan visited, they really wanted us to try Happy Sheep, a hot pot spot they used to go to after school in Taiwan. Since it was closed, we ended up at Boiling Point, and my friend said it was absolutely delicious. From that point on, my family and I have been going here religiously--at least 3-4 times a month! One downside is that it can get a bit crowded inside compared to other locations, and having only one bathroom does put some pressure on you. This queue jumping is crazy. I've encountered this kind of thing before. I registered for queue number 68 for 3 people, and the next queue number was 67 for 3 people, but the staff called 69 for 3 people. So I asked him why he called 69 when there were queue numbers 67 and 68 that hadn't been called yet. But the staff said, "I haven't called your number yet." Wow. I've only had hotpot a handful of times, but this place is so good. I thought it wouldn't be good since it wasn't AYCE (all you can eat) but you get a ton of food. I got their beef hotpot with rice. It was great. The soup itself is scalding, so be careful and don't burn your mouth! The flavors are so good though. The beef is so tender and fatty, corn is super sweet, all the veggies and tofu skin and other items perfectly complement one another. Make sure you do not pass up on their sauces on the table. Make yourself a dipping sauce in one of the containers they give you. I suggest a good spoon of the bean paste, a healthy couple spoons of the garlic chili paste (so crunchy and garlicky), and then pour some of the garlic soy sauce. Mix it all together and enjoy! Despite the long wait times on weekends, my family and I would come every week. The food is always consistent and the broth is heavenly. My go to order is the cream curry or the beef. I've tried all of the different hot pots, and they're all equally good! The restaurant itself is quite small and they don't take reservations. Indoor dining is back at Boiling Point! For now they are only serving dining indoors from Wednesdays to Saturday. I came on a Wednesday at lunch time and was surprised there was a wait. Hmm perhaps I shouldn't of been surprised as I remembered pre-pandemic there was always a wait here due to their popularity! The wait was not too bad (about 30 minutes) and considering it is limited dining inside (they do alternating tables and so not every table is filled); I thought the wait was reasonable. I liked all the Covid precautions they took. They have plexiglass on each table. The sauces are no brought out in separate containers (vs being at the table). I also saw how they diligently cleaned each table after use. Foodwise as always everything was on point and tasty! I always leave here so content and happy. The soup was boiling hot and true to their name. It was great with the rice. I even tried their new scallion gravy rice and it really went well with the beef hot pot! The new scallion gravy rice is a lot like fried rice. There as also another new thing I saw here and it was a nice addition to their complimentary tea lunch time. They now add basil seed in it! The basil seed used to be a separate dessert but now they add it into the free green/black tea at lunch. It makes the drink so much more tastier. First time here and never heard about it before. What rock have I been living under? Hot pot is not an dinnner I would normally think about but our Indonesian family friend highly recommended the Boiling Point and you never contradict an Asian for a recommended Asian restaurant right? We got there and signed up for the waitlist on an iPad. So it was convenient. There was a long line of folks waiting, something that yelled you you're a the right place.... But also it's kinda irritating to wait right? LOL. after half an hour we were seated at our table. The menu had a small but quite good selection. We all ordered hotpot of different varieties. I have the spicy broth at medium level. They do ask how spicy you'd like it. I always wonder what scale of spiciness it is based on and if I'll be eating in pain or not They brought smart individually sized stoves heated by coal that fit nicely without encroaching to others' table space. The hotpot dishes came shortly after. The broth was good! And the meats and seafood were pretend good and fresh as well. Wait staff were always at hand to refill the broth when it started drying up from evaporation (but mostly from my consuming the soup!). The only difficulty we experienced is parking. The location had several other restaurants making parking at roulette of sorts. But just drove around and you'll find a spot. Make sure to have someone join the waitlist as you search for a spot.
