Mild is probably what one would expect a medium spicy level to be, and there's chili oil on the side to add more if needed. The ingredients taste a bit on the bland side and the sauce helps. I like that they include fried tofu skins in their hot pot. The individual pots don't have a way to turn off the flame on your own and need to call a server to help. They serve both hot and cold water in small plastic cups, not a big fan of this. The service is a bit on the slow end since they are usually busy. Not bad with 5 or 6 large pork ribs (how they managed to fit them all inside the small pot is beyond me.) -- very tender and flavorful meat, but the broth tasted rather bland with bits of cabbage greens, black mushroom and tofu. My favorite has got to be the Thai fusion--can't stray away from it! Lemongrassy goodness! Beef used to be my fave but after they changed up the recipe, mehh~ not so much anymore. I think they added a lot more cumin or somethin. Also, order their side of garlic pork belly. Something about that sauce! *drool* Each order of a hotpot comes with 4 different types of sauces (so good!), your choice of white rice or glass noodles and for lunch, a choice of iced green or black tea. Randomly found this restaurant and decided to give it a try on a rainy night. I ordered the special hot pot which I believe was the #1 with a winter melon drink and I upgraded my rice to top it off with gravy scallions and fried onions . At first it doesn't seem like that much food but it is almost never ending . They load up the pot and will walk around topping off the soup. The meats, vegetables, fish cakes etc were pretty good . The soup unlike most hot pot places had a good amount of flavor. Most hot pot places you neither get a flavorful broth or a broth that tastes like hot water, there's no in-between. For what you get and what you pay you really can't go wrong . I was stuffed , I was warmed up and it all hit the spot. Note that a few combos have pork blood. The pork blood here is on the pungent side. If you are not a fan definitely ask them to remove it from your meal. But they hit all the spots with good food, quick and nice service and well priced, so I think 4 stars is very fair. read more

Yesterday on 03/27/2022 at 9:32pm I ordered a #5 lamb hot soup to go with extra tofu skin on the side, "I get home to enjoy my soup" the soup has no flavor, it was watered down no flavor at all, and to make things worse a piece of plastic in my soup, and as i am moving things around the bowl to look for more, I also notice that there is not meat to my soup at this point I am down to the assumption that they probably gave me someone else's leftovers, there is no way you fuck up a soup like that read more

Favorite hot pot place! It's me and my moms day date place. Lunch is a few bucks cheaper than dinner and I think u get a free black tea or green tea for lunch only but I could be wrong sorry! I got a mild lamb hot pot and it was pretty good. Solid flavor and the food comes quick. My problem came with the fact that my boiler seemed broken? Like in our party of 6 everyone's food was boiling and my flame wasn't boiling. I wouldn't complain too much if my lamb dish didn't contain a raw egg. I asked the waiter for a replacement and god bless them for trying to fix it but it didn't work. I ate the food but the next day I had mad diarrhea and was spewing my guts out on the toilet. Oh no, why the 3.5? Came here for the first time today (Sunday around 6pm) and thankfully it was not that busy. We waited for about 20-25 minutes to be seated. In terms of parking, the lot seems pretty decent sized, but it was packed! I definitely got lucky and found a spot right away. The staff here was really awesome. They were very attentive and friendly. I had the Mild Beef and the Hokkaido Milk Tea. It was actually pretty spicy for a mild, but overall the broth was delicious! My friend ordered the Taiwanese spicy hot pot ($14.95 - sorry, no pic). Hot pots also include iced black or green tea. My hot pot was very good. There was a ton of ingredients, its was nice and medium spicy, and a I was full afterwards. The only downside was I got some of the red broth on my shirt, and I had an evening event later (mea culpa): 4 Stars. Likewise, my friend really liked his hot pot. I used him as a barometer because he is Taiwanese. BTW, we both live in Huntington Beach, and we were unaware there is a location in Garden Grove not too far from us. The meal comes with either a small serving of clear rice noodles (long rice) or a bowl of rice. You order the level of spicyness - spicy, mild, or very spicy... My normal routine is: see line at Boiling Point, then find another restaurant to go to in the plaza. (Which is OK as that is how I discovered Bowl Thai and Lee's Tofu). Weirdly enough, today was a reverse. We had the intention of going to Bowl Thai, but we saw that there was no line to Boiling Point, so we decided to go there instead. (It was actually pretty weird that there is no line, but maybe because it was so hot??) I can see why there is always a line here, the restaurant itself is very small with a few booths and tables. We got seated right away and our waiter came by promptly to take our order. For anyone who has not been here, Boiling Point is a hot pot restaurant, so they serve individual pots with soup, meat, and veggies. I decided on the Japanese miso, which included tons of things. But from my memory, this included pork, crab, veggies, noodles, etc. You can choose how spicy the soup can be, I decided on mild because I am weak sauce. I am glad I decided to go with the mild because it still had a little kick to it. The pork was pretty delicious and tender and the soup worked well with all the ingredients. They also provide you with a side of rice or noodles. I chose the rice based upon recommendation from the server. This also comes with a drink (green or black tea). I was really excited to finally try this place, a couple of my friends have been here multiple times and liked it a lot. Unfortunately my experience here was horrible! Ordering our food came to be a challenge for our party of five. Even the person sitting next to us got her order mixed up two times. I ordered the beef soup with noodles. The food was pretty decent until I was almost done with my pot and noticed a piece of brillo pad in my soup! Yes a string of silver metal was just hiding on the bottom! I was so grossed out and immediately showed our waiter, then he brought over the manager. They offered a new pot but by then I was so full. This place is located inside of Tozai Plaza which is filled with different places to eat. Boiling Point is always one of the most crowded places with a line out the door. We ended up having to wait an hour to get a table, but once inside the service was quick and they brought out our food within a few minutes of ordering. // FOOD // Beef hot soup: Slices of beef, nappa, vermicelli, enoki mushrooms, imitation crab, fried tofu skin, tofu, tomato and corn. Overall, I thought the hot sup lacked flavor, but I dipped everything is the side sauces and it made it a thousand times better. Seriously, the hot sauce and garlic sauce made the difference. If it weren't for those two sauces I probably would have given Boiling Point a 2 star... Overall, I really enjoyed eating here. If you come in at lunch the hot pot is about a dollar less and it comes with your choice of green or black tea. My favorite is the green tea. It goes perfectly with the food :) This place can get pretty crowded, especially for lunch. I don't mind waiting because it is worth the wait! Boiling Point also has a selection of boba drinks and desserts like shave ice. One popular item which is the Hokkaido milk tea was not what I expected given that it is constantly raved about. This place was one of my favorite comfort food places to hit up on the weekends with friends back when I was in college, so when I found out a location opened up near me, I jumped at the opportunity to go! Unfortunately, however, I haven't had the best of experiences here at this location. Today is my second time coming. The first time I came, it was super packed and I had to wait a while in the cold where there's only one small bench. Service was a little tough to get given that it was so packed, but we managed to do okay. I recommend calling ahead to see the wait time so you don't have to deal with the wait in the cold. Today was my second time giving this location a shot, and I surprisingly was even more disappointed. We got seated pretty quick but we were asked to order within a couple minutes of scanning our menu so we weren't ready. I ordered my drink at least which came at a reasonable time- but then no one came to take our order! I don't know if it's because we had no physical menu to indicate we were still ordering, but it's as if we were invisible. As much as I wanted to wave someone down, it seemed like everyone was so busy and had their eyes set on every other task. Finally, we had a woman named Paige help us out! She's definitely the hero of tonight because our waiter only saw us again just to give us the check prematurely before we'd even ask for it, but I'll get to that later. It took us a while to get our food, and I started to feel antsy. The place is really small and had no music playing so the ambiance was pretty claustrophobia inducing if you find yourself in a middle table sandwiched with other tables. A booth is definitely the best if you can get one. We asked for substitutions and omissions to some ingredients, some of which got ignored. I got the honey milk tea, and my friend got the Hokkaido milk tea which we always order. The boba is fresh and is super yummy, although I'd prefer it was a bit chewier as I felt it was too soft. All would have been fine and I'd give this place 4 stars I feel had it not been for the end of the night for us. We had waited a long time to even be served so we had taken our time eating. The table to our right asked for the check and we were suddenly given ours though we had not asked for it. The man had left it and quickly walked away so I didn't get the chance to ask if it was a mistake for another while. I finally got his attention and he indicated it was not a mistake so I had already started to feel pressure to leave. A moment later, we were given some lemon jelly packets which are given to people when their check is given before they leave. Another indicator they probably wanted me gone. I still had a good amount of stew and I did not want to take it to go... it's not my fault I'm taking long if half the time I've been seated I've been waiting! I felt rushed and did my best to eat quicker, and as soon as I stood up, I had a server immediately come to clean up my table. Amazing how the service is suddenly quick when they want to kick you out.
