It's hard to explain Qigong. It's more rhythmic and grounding than yoga. It really gets me out of my head and into my body. Melanie is a fantastic instructor! My chronic shoulder pain has improved so much doing the Qigong Tai Chi and Qigong Yoga classes. I have done chiropractor, massage, acupuncture and yoga and Qigong has made the biggest difference. Such a great way to get your energy flowing after a long day at a desk job. The fusion of tai chi and yoga and meditation is taught well and doesn't get stale like some other movement classes I've done. Truly has made a difference in my stress levels and helps me get a restful sleep. Highly recommend the evening classes for winding down your day. I just took class tonight. I am hoping it will get better in time. So saying A-Ok because of my first impressions. They have a uniform they'd like us to wear. I'd rather not wear it. I was told they do not do free trial class. NOT true. Go on there web site and under FAQ, it says if you want to do a trial, go into the studio & request one. The studio seems a little worn out. There are no lockers to secure your belongings and a sign to say they are not responsible for your lost belongings. Please add some lockers then. There was no shower to clean up afterward. This is a Korean Yoga place. There is a picture of a man who wrote this book, and this is his style of yoga. Meanwhile there are Chinese Characters which have 81 characters of sentimental words on it. There seems to be a special culture behind this form of yoga. There is 1 studio which tonight held 9 of us. It looks like it would hold 12 or so. There were 2 private rooms for one on one classes or events. Tonight class was a combination of meditation, mild yoga and this pounding yourself. There was a part of identifying energy and improv with finding yourself in a tai chi kinda thing while sitting. Hitting yourself all over to promote blood flow & more. I hear there are different teachers and different styles of class. So hope there will be more challenging classes ahead. I am 35 years old and while not super athletic, I want to build muscle tone and burn fat while gaining flexibility & strength. As well as get a strong emotional center and training in mediation. I hope the teachers look at the customer base and say, well these people don't need it so mellow and check but kick it up a notch next class. After class we sat in a circle and reflected. So, if we as a group decide the direction of the class should shift, this is a good time to provide feedback. Such as one lady said, the leg stretches were great today, we need more of those on other days. My point is I sense this feedback will be more important than a yelp review to day to day class direction. I am still a little uncertain about this studio. I really wanted to do a trial class up to a week long trial. I am thinking yoga 2 days a week and so this might get old quickly if its not exciting enough. But I need to give it a chance and allow feedback that they can evolve with. They say children are welcome to do yoga, but I can't see how it can hold many. A child would be a minority here and need to be very obedient. read more

This isn't your typical western style of yoga, and isn't going to be for everyone. However, this eastern style of Korean yoga is exactly what I've been looking for. Instead of emphasizing poses, they work on achieving balance between body and brain with each class focusing on different techniques and lessons. In addition to yoga, each class includes tapping, breathing, stretching and more. My favorite is the Friday afternoon Yoga "Dance Party" -- although I think they have a more formal name for it. Check this studio out if traditional yoga classes leave you flat, or if you're looking for something more. If it's not your cup of tea, and you're looking for something else, go somewhere else. Please don't rate them poorly because they aren't like everyone else. Its like rating a Hot Yoga studio poorly for making you sweat. The high quality teachers are knowledgeable and dedicated to every single student. The rates are fair and clear. The studio is small and clean. Although there aren't any lockers, the rack to store your belongings is inside the classroom and right in front of you, so really no need for lockers. read more

I'm a yoga purist-Hatha or Iyengar for me. No dazzles or music or anything new/hip/trendy/over-the-top. That being said, I was visiting Kirkland and came upon Dahn Yoga. I was feeling pretty wiped out, exhausted and did their private intro for $29 because of my health issues. Master Cho did an assessment on me. He was insightful, helpful and seemed like a good guy. It's not yoga (the Sanskrit word meaning "union") in the traditional Hindu way. But they do movements to get your chi flowing. And I needed to get my energy moving, desperately. The one-on-one and the class I took certainly got my stagnant energy more in balance. The people are uber friendly and made me feel welcome. I met a couple of the ladies after class at PCC and they told me how Dahn Yoga had changed their health for the better. I'd never heard of it before, but I am certainly going to take classes in other cities (they don't have classes in Tucson where I live now) when I visit. Kirkland Dahn Yoga was the answer to my body's prayer. I joined 6 years ago at age 64 with many physical issues. My body works so well now, I barely remember my previous condition. I started with Dahn because I thought yoga would be good physical activity. I got a well-toned body and SO much more. Originally, I wanted to try yoga to see if it would help with my lower back pain. I went to this Dahn Yoga just because it was close to where I lived. I feel so blessed to have found this place. I stumbled onto this place when I went to Super Supplements and B&B was there using this funky aura reader machine I couldn't resist.. They specialize in balance - the one thing I have sought and failed with all my life. Balance for both body and brain. I dropped Curves for a monthly membership here as the workout is harder! I mean seriously, I do pole dancing and areal yoga/silks - this B&B stuff is kicking my ass - on all levels! I have taken my second class at this typing, they alternate yoga, Tai Chi, and energy movement with meditation to keep things interesting and it works! Tonight I heard a loud cracking sound that I thought was a muscle stretching, but may have been the shell on my hard, cold, withered heart cracking like a walnut instead. I seriously feel that this might be the best decision I have made for myself in years. Yoo Soo and Amy rock and welcome me with literally open arms.
