6 of us Went there for a 21st birthday yesterday. The ambience was great however the service was not. The restaurant was not busy yet It took 10 minutes for a server to come and get our drink order. After waiting another 10 to 15 minutes our drinks finally came. They were in cute glasses and tasted good. Our food order took over 25 minutes and we only ordered appetizers. There was such a lag between food and drinks that it killed the entire vibe. When we finally had to ask for the bill, we still had not read received our second round of beer. The server brought the beer at the same time she brought the check which was quite annoying. Suffice to say the bill was $215 and not worth it. After a birthday dinner we decided to end the night at bodega. There was no line to get in. It was a quick ID check and then we were in there! The music was great ! We grabbed a table and was sitting there for like 40 mins ( we were also buying drinks) and then security came over and stated that we needed to buy a bottle In order to stay at the table. I was ready to leave and try another location but my cousin folded and bought a $300 bottle of ciroc. They also put some type of lock on the ciroc. We could not pour it at our leisure! We went there craving the empanadas. First of all they took for ever to come out. When they did we were disappointed. Not so good. It just seemed like cooked hamburger meat. No olives, no spices. Out friends met us there and almost every seafood plate she ordered was unavailable. The manager did not charge us for the empanadas because they took so long. The first time it took a good thirty minutes for a server to come over and this was only because we asked the host for waters and let her know that no one had came over yet. I wish they had an appetizer of just plantains because I would definitely order just that by itself. The plate does have a lot of meat and it was a little dry, I feel like it needs something else but otherwise it was good. My friends ordered the cuban sandwich which they both enjoyed and we shared a nacho appetizer. The nachos needed a little bit more cheese and I personally would have preferred pickled jalapenos versus the fresh. We checked out bodega on a sunny Sunday this past weekend. When we arrived we were seated immediately. The place was not busy at all. First issue, the chairs are unnatural short. LOL the table is a lot higher than the tables. I felt like a child sitting in an adult chair. The table was literally up to my chest (I'm 5'3) it was a weird feeling for sure and made eating a little uncomfortable. I felt like my chin was resting on the table. The ambiance is super cool! It gives Miami vibes for sure. It was bright and colorful and the neon sign in the back was really cool. The service was a little slow, for the place to not be packed at all, it took a really long time to place our orders. We both order drinks, I got the disco bird and my partner got the paradise. The drinks were good but extremely sweet. I could only have one and I usually try at least two cocktails at dinner. The drink was cute but for the price it could've been bigger. Also drinking out of the bird with the large swizzle straw was awkward, it kept dripping everywhere and coupled with the high table I had to bring the drink down to my lap to take a sip! We ordered the black bean taquitos, the pesto sandwich with no chicken (my partner is vegetarian) and I got the chicken tinga bowl. The taquitos were flavorless, lacked salt and flavor. My partner enjoyed the pesto sandwich but said the fries were giving "school lunch" they also lacked salt and flavor. The chicken tinga was good but nothing to write home about. The plantains were good and so was the chicken but overall the food was BLAH. They also had little to no vegetarian or vegan options. I would come back here for drinks and sit at the bar. I really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere is great and the esthetic is really cute and on theme. But the menu lacks direction. We got the blueberry grilled cheese, fries and short rib entree. The fries were my favorite thing, however I personally felt they were over salted. We even asked for light salt on our second order of fries and they tasted even saltier. The other food was just fine, the short ribs were tender but the coconut rice and steamed broccolini were not flavorful enough in my opinion. I tried a few bites of the grilled cheese and it wasn't for me. The blueberries were too sweet and it was so messy with the balsamic glaze on top of the sandwich. I can't speak to the whole menu but there are a lot of other options. They have this deal for $6 mojitos, I would recommend those for a fun after work hh. The drinks were great! We got the mango and lychee mojito! Our server was awesome super friendly. However, for being the few patrons at 6-7pm on a Friday and we had to go up and request our bill to leave and when we wanted to order more stuff through our meal there was no one help us, that was a bit disappointing. read more
