We came in a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty slow. Where I struggled was the food. They had some issues with their food supplier so not every item was available which was unfortunate. The pineapple fried rice was a little bland and the egg rolls were decent. The fish and chips were a tad salty, but the coleslaw was refreshing! The fries were also done well. Another unfortunate part of our visit was the AC was not working properly, it was pretty toasty. All in all we might go back, but for now this is on my OK list. read more

I'm rarely this side of town but glad I was because I was able to try this tiki bar. When we first got to Tiki Star it was empty. Jennifer was the only server, which at first was fine. Once the the place got busier I was really impressed by Jennifer still making sure all the tables were taken care of, she apologized for delays, and maintained her friendly demeanor. The food and drinks were amazing. I really like the vibe of the place. If you live close by you should definitely try this place. Next time I'm close by I will definitely be back. read more

You walk in and are greeted by the staff and pick where you want to sit. The ambiance is nice. Love the music. Made me feel like I might be sitting at a place on the water. We ordered 2 drinks. I got the Bangarang and my son got Halo Halo. Boy these were such tasty drinks. And beautiful presentation. We also each got a pineapple hard cider which was also good! For food we started with the fried spam musubi which was super tasty. I have not had spam since I was a child. But this was really good. For dinner I for the Kalua Pork Sliders. Holy bejesus when I say the pork was so tender and juicy with so much flavor. It had a coconut slaw on it which was also Devine. Went on Good Friday with the whole family (Winston the dog too) as this season has been so hectic for us all. Choose Tiki star because my wife and sister love Asian food and tiki drinks and vibes. This place just about every box imaginable, happy hour drinks(and strong)++ great open style seating+ unbelievably delicious food++ wonderful service+++. Our only negative was there was no food on happy hour and the Mac and cheese bowl was really light on meat but that wouldn't detour us from coming back due to it was possibly the best Mac and cheese any of us had ever had and all of the other food was just amazing. Can't say enough great things about this place as it was an amazing vibe hanging out in the sun wind and truly feeling like we weren't in Arizona for a few hours. I went with some friends for lunch on a Friday. We got there shortly after they opened and were the first ones there. The inside of the restaurant is really cute. Theming and decor are on point. Our server was great as well. Friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The food is where we struggled. Not a single dish was without flaw. Looking at the menu ahead of time there were many options that caught my eye, but the group ended up getting the following: Loco Moco Fries, Kalua Pork Nachos, Katsu Sando, Spam Cubano, and Pork Belly Banh Mi. Loco Moco Fries: fun take on a classic dish. Fries were nice and crispy, but a tad over-salted. Between the fries and gravy the dish was very salty. Pork Kalua Nachos: yummy, but the chip to toppings ratio was off. Could have benefited from more pork and more sauce. Katsu Sando: very good. The pork was super crispy! The Mac Salad on the side was disappointing though. It was definitely missing something. Spam Cubano: another good bite, although I wasn't a huge fan of the marinade on the pickles. Would get them on the side next time. Pork Belly Banh Mi: tough to eat because of the bread choice. Flavors didn't mesh well either. This is a new hawaiian restaurant in Peoria at Park West. My boyfriend loves hawaiian food so we thought we'd try it out! Our server was phenomenal and personable! We got a few dishes, our favorite was definitely the ahi tacos, which came with an amazing tangy and spicy salsa! The loco moco fries were just alright, a little too salty for me, and too simple of a dish for me to really love. The pork mac and cheese was delicious and creamy but not too rich since the sauce cuts it nicely. The menu is pretty pricy for the complexity of the dishes I would say, but I would still come here again, only for takeout. read more

What a fun new addition to the shopping center! Love the vibe, totally gives off vacation vibes. The drinks are so fun and delicious here! My favorite was the halo halo, soooo delicious! I also tried the bangarang and it was tasty but the halo halo stole my heart lol The food was great too! My friend got the Kailua pork sliders and man was the pork flavorful and tender. Decided to try this place out in Park West. We've been here twice and loved it both times. It's very quiet during the weekday, but it gets busier in the evening with the bar. The server/host, Taylor, is very personable and always has a smile on her face. Both times we started with the Pu Pu Platter, which consists of a bunch of their appetizers...Huli Huli Ribs, Crab Rangoon, Chicken Satay, Potstickers and Coconut Shrimp, along with 3 different sauces. Everything was delicious! The first time we went, we also got an order of their Beef Bulgogi Egg Rolls...yum! I've been wanting to try this place forever and we finally were in the area this weekend so we stopped in. I was so surprised to see it nearly completely empty, but it was around 4 on Sunday. Definitely a weird time for dinner etc. we were greeted right away and waters brought to us while we decided what we'd order. They recently updated their menu a bit we were told so if you're looking at it online it doesn't seem to show the new one. The sauce for the stickers was a type of hot sauce and it along with the potstickers were amazing! I'd definitely like to come back and try out more full meals. The food here is described as a mix of Polynesian and Asian cuisines. It's a scratch kitchen. I really love the concept. For the drinks they serve only cans/bottled beers here as well as mixed drinks. The mixed drinks are what seems to bring people in. I wasn't sure what to get so I told the bartender what I liked and he recommended the Halo Halo I believe is what it was called. I typically don't care for ube, but he assured me he'd make it to my liking. He was so correct. It was delicious. I'd definitely order it again. The vibe is cool. Decor is great. The place is quite small though. It does have a small patio area as well, but on a busy night at park-west I could see it hard to get in. I was off put by the restrooms at first because there was no sink inside the bathroom and questioned where a cool would wash their hands, but realized quickly it was right outside of both bathrooms for a more sanitary option. First off: the people I interacted with there were wonderful. Just great personalities and very welcoming. But dayumm Gina. I've been to the island a couple of times, and know what chicken katsu should look and taste like. The chicken katsu sandwich I ordered had some thick-ass chicken breast and was not breaded with panko. To top it off, the katsu sauce was heavy on the horseradish. I can't really slam the Texas toast as I've never had katsu in a sandwich form before. And the mac salad was more bland than the version you'll find at any Ono Hawaiian. I did like the fries as it was not soggy. The Spam Fried Rice was too salty, it was alright. We had to finish it though cause it was pretty pricey for the dish; I didn't want it to be a waste. For the drinks I had the Halo Halo and my bestfriend had the Bangarang. The drinks I thought was overpriced as well. I didn't love it and I didn't hate it either. It was alright. We just enjoyed our second visit to Tiki Star for my sister-in-laws birthday and I called ahead and they had two other large parties for that time but told us they would make it work. Our service for 10, including 3 children was friendly, fast, and helpful. We enjoyed a wide range of appetizers, including the moco loco fries, pork nachos, ribs, lettuce wraps, and coconut shrimp. Everyone enjoyed! I agree with previous reviews that the shrimp could be crunchier but the flavor sure is there. A lot of surprising flavors and bold sauces. We came during happy hour so a cocktail and two apps made more sense for then entrees but I can't wait to go back for the garlic shrimp noodle dish and fish and chips. What a fun addition to Park West! The atmosphere is very fun and festive with all the tiki decor, and the entire front wall is a glass door that can be opened up to the patio when the weather is cooler. Are the drinks pricey? Yes, but worth it! You get what you pay for, and all of the drinks are made with high quality liquor. My favorite was the Bananarang but the classic Mai tai is very good and very strong. The moco loco fries were stupid good, I was obsessed with their beef gravy. They were 14 bucks or so, but the serving was enormous. The bartenders are super friendly and helpful as well. This place was a pleasant surprise! After poor service around the corner at a pizza place, we ended up here, and it was the exact opposite. The ambiance was a laid back, fairly dark tiki bar. Very casual and chill. The food was a hit for everyone in our party. There is a kid menu for the little ones. My older kids enjoyed the spam fried rice. I loved the kalua nachos, which had a sauce that was sweeter than typical Mexican nachos. Coconut shrimp was another big hit. The drinks were tasty too. He ordered the Sentinel Island and I ordered the Dirty Bird. The Dirty Bird has Mezcal in it and even though I love Mezcal the Sentinel Island was my favorite! It was so tasty and delicious! Great tiki bar in Park West next to Handel's Ice Cream. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a gentleman behind the bar. The restaurant itself is well decorated and definitely has a "tiki bar" feeling. Went in for lunch on Saturday and the restaurant was fairly empty. Lot's of tables but I sat at the bar since it was just myself. My food came out really quickly. About 5 min after I ordered my appetizer, coconut shrimp, it came out. Once I finished it, my entree, a pineapple burger came out. I ordered coconut shrimp that came with a passion fruit chili sauce. I would definitely order it again but the one thing I would change is for it to be more crispy. Shrimp was warm in the inside and was full of coconut flavor. I didn't really mind for the sauce. Pineapple burger with fries. I actually wanted mac salad for my side but for some reason I said fries and it was a good choice. The fries were well seasoned. As for my burger, it was good but it needs lettuce and onions in my opinion. The burger reminded me of the Teriyaki Burger from Carl's Jr. Overall, I would definitely come back. I'm so excited for this new restaurant in the West Valley! I got to check them out a couple weeks ago and had a great experience. The restaurant is so cute, I love the tiki theme, and the service was great! Of course, the food and drinks were the best part. I had the grilled mahi tacos- they were awesome. Grilled mahi with pineapple salsa, avocado, cilantro lime aioli and a king pao hot sauce that added a great kick! I had to add a side of fries, which were perfectly cooked and seasoned well. My wife had the blackened mahi sandwich, so of course I had to try it. The mahi was great, topped with a coconut lime slaw and tartar sauce, which gave a nice coolness to the blackened seasoning. Served with fries, so I didn't have to share mine. They have an extensive list of signature drinks, but we were in the mood for beer so I had the Maui Brewing Bikini Blonde Lager and my wife was excited to have her favorite, Pizza Port Chronic Ale. Both paired so well with lunch. Next time, I'm diving into a signature drink, served in a cute tiki glass. We spotted the Samoa Cookie Cheesecake on the menu and decided to take it to-go. So glad we did! They make the cheesecake in-house, it was so creamy and decadent, topped with chocolate sauce, caramel and toasted coconut. A perfect treat! I really enjoy Tiki Star. It's a wide-open restaurant and bar, plenty of seating inside and out. Tiki decor all along the ways and a very extensive bar with loads of rum. Drinks are fantastic, both the classics and the originals. I recommend the Mana Mai Tai. The pork sliders are delicious, as is the Cuban sandwich. The servers and bartenders are super nice and quick.
