I have an apartment in NYC, but my primary residence is in a small town in the South. I have bought a sofa from Bo Concept Madison Ave for my apartment, and again a dining set (table and six chairs) delivered flat-packed to my primary residence. Paying $600 for delivery, I assumed incorrectly the dining set would come assembled. Thankfully my deliverers had time to assemble (I paid them). I went again to the Madison Avenue store and bought a Santiago sideboard and Lugano wall-hung cabinet for my primary residence. Same saleslady Irina I had built a relationship with, but she ended up quitting shortly after the delivery. It has been a certifiable nightmare with the Santiago sideboard. My invoice incorrectly states "Delivery and Assembly," but I was left stranded having to hire a professional assembler. The sideboard was so problematic and frustrating that the assembler didn't have time for the cabinet. Missing hardware, faulty door magnets, drawer fronts that took too much tweaking to make flush and were a different stain from the drawers. The top veneer was nothing like the floor model in the showroom, using multiple planks of mismatched grain glued together, and with numerous knots. I don't expect the top to be a full solid board, but an eye to the selection of the wood to create the effect of a solid piece was not given. The drawer bottoms feeling cardboard, IKEA-like. Made in China! Bo Concept lies! Maybe some are, but my boxes said Made in China, and their website claims it's made in Denmark. Communication from the Madison store and the parts people in New Jersey have been spotty, if not. non-existent. They promised me new matching door fronts last year, but there have been no updates. The employee turnover gives me whiplash. Perhaps Irina saw the writing on the wall and jumped ship. I've dealt with 6-7 different people about this. No one takes responsibility. Today, one year after purchase, with dread, my husband and I mustered the will to open the Lugano cabinet boxes and begin assembling. Such a basic piece of furniture, surely it would be straight forward. The side panels don't line up with the top, and gap! The door hinges fit in one pre-carved hole, but not the other! We worked two hours and gave up to rest. It's sitting there like a disassembled car engine. It's really not much better than IKEA, no exaggeration. At least IKEA is a breeze to assemble. I've sent a message to Bo Concept corporate (I guess?) through a form on their website. Not an actual corporate email, only a Denmark phone number you'd have to pay roaming charges to call. here is the context: I had a Bo concept Madison store designer Irina to help me furnish the entire 2B2B in Manhattan in late March 2021. and ended up bought 20k+ USD furnitures from her. Service was nice and there are a couple of items in stock and she promised to delivery within "3 weeks", and the rest in late June. That "3 weeks" was a beginning of a nightmare. the whole reason I chose them is free of hassle to have one whole batch of furnitures delivered and installed. It took them until 15 June to delivery the "in stock" desk item after I tried to contact them through email multiple times and eventually had enough and called their store manager. He realized that they have them in warehouse in early June and gave me mercy to send it to me. The attached TV unit is also sent in the same batch. But the door won't close as shown in the first picture. So I emailed them, waited for a couple of days. No response obviously. Then I called, store manager ensured they will send my "missing desk" and a service guy to fix it. I waited until Friday 18th June but no one contacted me as the delivery and service is supposed to be next Monday. So I contacted their moving firm, yes I know their moving firm now.. and finally confirm that on the Monday next. Two guys came in and did the "fix up" this Monday. Today is Friday. As shown in the second picture, the glue on the TV unit magnet, which is supposed to hold the door close, fell off. so my 3K USD new TV unit is broken again. I am too upset I am just gonna throw it away. now I am beyond frustrated with them and I start to reflect on the stupidity of myself for trusting them. My original naive idea was if I bought a lot with them, I should at least get their best service. so apparently this has been their "best service". The following is my last response to them and I do not want to ever deal with them again. "Got ur message and it's still broken. I actually have no more request for u guys. Too disappointed to care. Bought a $10,000 couch. In a year, started making loud noises. It wasn't just squeaking. It was a mechanical malfunction. I reported it right after warranty expired but they ignored my emails and request for help. For a couch that costs $10,000, I would expected better service or at least referral to a repair facility. I then asked for a letter that it could not be repaired so I can claim with my credit card extended warranty protection. They ignored all my emails and phone calls. Everybody knows the big problem with BoConcept is that it takes SO long to get the furniture. Obviously, they charge your credit card in advance. For us, in the summer of 2021, the promised time to deliver was 3 months after ordering (which has not happened). In the meantime, they are now doing a bigger sale. Not only are they making money on our money (many stores charge upon shipping - not upon ordering), they also do not honor any new sales that happen between the time that you order and the time you get the product. In other words, you are stuck paying the higher price even if they lower the price of their furniture. We may come back here to update the review after we actually get the table. The two ottomans that we ordered before (a couple of years ago) are nice and work well. It took a while to deliver but they delivered when they said they would deliver. read more

Bad experience at Madison Ave. Store; After many days awaiting I have not heard a word back from you as you promised. On the delivery day , Robert from your delivery team has wrote down on the company delivery receipt book that the footboard was bent and a replacement is needed. He told me before he left my house that I could use this bent/damaged one till a new footboard is delivered. I even called your store at the spot and having Robert spoke to one of your employees in regards this issue. A day later, Mira you called back and asking my video to send to your email. Not sure why would that be even necessary but I did as you asked right away! After all these days, with no one following up on this issue, now I am requesting please take back your damaged/ defective bed and issue a full refund plus inconvenience fees have caused me during these months. I have two Mezzo queen sizes in my home for many years, I have trusted your company products and your customer service. I understand that once out of blue there might be a bad luck case. But today, I am very surprised how you just totally ignoring this issue and went on silent. Not only you have took extra long time to delivery the product, but also you have been ignoring to take care this damaged/defective product issue. My experience as a BoConcept customer has been nothing short of amazing. I visited their Madison Avenue location to casually browse for furniture and I ended up leaving a deposit on a custom configuration to be paid for and delivered within the next month. I'm not exaggerating when I say that my every interaction with the staff has been a pleasant one, most notably Luis and Nora. Unfortunately for me, due to COVID, I was unable to satisfy the balance right away. Everyone I interacted with at BoConcept (Madison Ave) was understanding and accommodating. I've since paid my outstanding balance and since the furniture was already sitting in the warehouse I should be taking delivery very soon. I have been a BoConcept customer for many years now! We purchased furniture for our first home almost 10 years ago and all of it has remained very stylish and held up very well over the years! The product is good quality and well made. I am glad that they are now consolidated into one location to make things easier and service much better than before! I have had some minor issues and the team at this store has gone beyond my expectations to help me solve the problem. First of all this is a review of the customer service and interaction with the sales personnel not the products/furniture. I have been a customer over 10 years and in different countries and always experience a pleasant interaction with customer service and sales. So I figured it would be the same in the US/ NYC. This was not the case, the customer service here is very unprofessional and doesn't care about their customer or brand loyalty. I order a handful of furniture pieces and had only issues with them, not with the furniture piece but with the delivery, communication and costs. I had to chase them to get any type of update, my furnitures were delayed so many times and on top I had to pay for every single delivery even, if items were placed together in one order. After going back and forth for over 4 months I finally got a gift card offered of $200 which basically covers one delivery charge , and even for that gift card I had to chase them down and received it over a month late. I suggest to anyone to never ever purchase from this location. Madison Avenue has been a horrible experience throughout and that during a pandemic!!!! read more

Please do not buy from them! Highly unprofessional and make false promises. I bought a leather chair and an ottoman from BoConcempt last year. First the delivery was majorly delayed, which I understand. But a defective piece was delivered when the chair finally came. Not only that, the ottoman was also missing from the delivery, so incomplete defective delayed delivery. When I contacted the company they didn't believe that the chair was defective, but, finally they came and inspected, and agreed to send a replacement for the chair. They also told us that the ottoman would eventually be delivered. The replacement chair was also majorly delayed without any updates. Due to all this unprofessionalism the sales rep Mira Ling and her manager told us that we would be given a discount for all the trouble we had to go through. But now, after the replacement chair got delivered, no discount was credited to us. Infact manager has backtracked on their promise. Extremely disappointing. Never doing business with them again, and I will make sure to let my family and friends know, never to buy from them again. read more

This is not a review about the store but about the products of this company. I purchased two pieces from them and they both broke within two years. The couch, a now discontinued model is so uncomfortable because the filling of the cushion moved and created a big gap between the seat and the back cushion. The ottoman, which can be converted into a guest bed broke quickly soon. A spring just broke off the frame. The franchise in Brooklyn has long closed. When trying to reach out to their customer service hoping to get a recommendation for an upholstery I was told in a rude tone that the mode has been discontinued and thatt I could fix it at my own expense. I would have gotten better service at IKEA. Waste of money read more

I furnished my apartment with their products seven years ago, and now back to redecorate my new place. The staff, specifically Andrea, was excellent to work with. I had a hard time visualizing how the furniture would work in my space, and Andrea was able to assist me with that using BoConcept's virtual room planner. She also helped me coordinate each piece of furniture for my entire living room and bedroom. I understand the pandemic slowed down production everywhere, but Andrea kept me abreast of production lead time and expected delivery date. Wonderful team! read more

Pros: the quality of the furniture seems excellent, and it looks great. Cons: Abysmal customer relations, and there is no justification from any company to treat a customer this way. With so many choices of furniture in the city, do not waste your time and energy here. Following is a brief narrative of my history with BoConcept: All the problems started after all of the money was in their hands and out of mine. Upon completion of the order with my design consultant Andrea Fierro, delivery was promised in 10 weeks, 7/21, or a few days around then. I made plans to make sure someone was home during those days. After eagerly anticipating my over Ten-thousand-dollar order with no communication from the company, I called on 7/13, the day it was due in port, Andrea Fierro conveyed that the furniture has arrived and will be expecting delivery shortly. Then I called on the estimated delivery day of 7/21, initially talking with Andrea, she said that one of the pieces is still in production in Denmark and will not be over for another couple of weeks. Upon my dissatisfaction with the lack of communication, I connected to the Showroom Manager, Luis Rodriguez. Luis then told me, on that very same phone call, that the pieces are here, and they should be shipping up to you shortly. Luis Rodriguez then went to talk with the warehouse manager to confirm everything. I did not hear back from Luis. I then called the next day to find out what was happening. He confirmed that the couch was still in Denmark, and I now had an estimated delivery date of 8/14. Frustrating with the lack of communication but ventured forward and took off days from work to receive the shipment for the days around that date. I again went back to waiting for weeks living without furnishings in my living space, without any communication from the team or the delivery team. On 8/14, I finally was fed up with the lack of communication and called back. This time I spoke with Luis directly, and again he then ended the conversation with "let me talk to the warehouse manager." Magically 3 min after the end of that call, I got a phone call from the delivery company (Ukay delivery) who handles the furnishing delivery. The warehouse clerk, who did not provide his name, said it would be ready for delivery next Wednesday, 8/19. At the end of the working day on 8/17, I still did not receive any notification for delivery from Ukay delivery. I called Luis Rodriguez again, and he assured me all pieces are scheduled to be delivered on 8/19. I was shocked to receive a phone call from Ukay Delivery on 8/18 at 2:30 P.M. stating that "there was a technical issue and that they will need to delay my delivery until next Tuesday 8/25". At this point, I was utterly livid. I had a family member call and speak to the manager Sean O'Hara at Ukay Delivery company who rudely never went into detail about a "technical issue." They came to an agreement that a truck with my complete order (full itemization submitted and confirmed via e-mail) will arrive on Thursday, 8/20, between 9 A.M. - 1 P.M.. The delivery occurred (white glove service was quite excellent!) missing one of the main pieces of my order, a 1789-dollar media center. We took delivery of the other pieces, and as of today, we are satisfied. However, confused and frustrated, I stepped out of the Operating Room again and call the design center about my missing piece. Only to discover that it was Luis Rodriguez's day off. However, the woman who answered the phone then said, "oh, I was on that e-mail, and knew about it." WHY DID I HAVE TO CALL THEM TO INQUIRE ABOUT A SCREW UP ON THEIR END?! A day of telephone tag later, and I finally speak with Luis Rodriguez on 8/22. Luis explained: (here is the kicker) "The piece that was reserved for you was sent to another customer, for unknown reasons and we attempted to send you a floor model after its refurbishment. However, they could not refurbishment" Are. You. Kidding. Me. They were going to try to disguise a floor model, charge me full price for the piece that I ordered and was built in Denmark for me. Outrageous. It left me speechless. Being told this after all the miscommunication and dismal treatment by the Madison avenue office sparked a rage that was unfortunately expressed over the phone instantaneously. Luis Rodriguez has promised full refund for the piece, and the delivery of that piece has been promised. This leads me to without my Fermo piece. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET THIS PIEC OF FURNITURE NOW? Never in my life have I experienced such poor, common, low-level service/treatment like this when purchasing "luxury items". One spends money to receive a service that is free of sloppy and insulting mistakes. Now I am left to doubt all of the furniture pieces I received in my BoConcept order if it was new or just covered up. With so many options in the city for high-end furniture, do yourself a favor and save your emotions and go somewhere else. read more

I have been a BoConcept customer for over 4 years. Overall I have been satisfied with the quality of its products. However, I cannot recommend its area rugs. I have an area rug in my living room and it is not aging well. One can see frays along the edges. Prior to this I had purchased a rug from a competitor for almost half the price, and it aged much better. read more

Extremely disappointed. Horrible customer service. We bought a coffee table and waited 2mths for delivery. After only having it for 2 weeks, a part broke. We called the store and asked if they could replace it. They said that was not possible but they could get us the replacement parts and they would make the necessary repairs. Great right, no. We were told to wait 2 months for the replacement parts. They would not expedite the deliver either. We waited the 2 months with a broken coffee table and called back for an update. We were told unfortunately because of an error, the parts were not shipped. Ugh. Now we were promised a new table but would have to wait another 2 months. After the 2 months, we followed up again. We were told management never approved a new table and they now have the parts to make the repairs. Unbelievable. This place Will NOT take care of it's customers and has terrible customer service. read more
