I was very excited to visit this establishment to reupholster large pillows for a tea party event. Upon arrival, I was immediately told where the clearance section is if I want "cheap fabric". That's it. As a woman of color this can be extremely offensive and degrading. I was not looking for inexpensive fabric for a luxury event. I wasn't spoken to after that. It is 2024. Unfortunately, I agree with the other bad reviews. I was driving by yesterday and have a couple of specific decor fabrics I'm in the market for, so I decided to pop in and take a look and with any luck, avoid online delays. Previous reviews mention that the workers judge their customers and ignore or act annoyed by those they deem unworthy of their store. Well, to keep a long story short, despite being well-dressed, I was immediately made to feel like I didn't belong in their store and was burdening them with any need for assistance. Their store is honestly a bit messy with boxes and bolts propped up against the walls of fabric (and not just in the clearance section). I'm sure there are deals to be found, but it seems most of the high-end fabric is special order only with 5yard + minimums. And when they finally tracked down the swatch book I asked about, after one associate acted as though she couldn't understand me for several minutes (I have a clear mid-Atlantic accent), and another one trying to redirect me to a different line that they didn't have to look for, their price was more than double what I can get it for online. Based on my and other's experiences, I can only assume this store has a very specific customer they cater to. Not just Johns Creek housewife, as someone else said, but one of retirement age like the staff (I did see two such women who were a few decades older than me getting much friendlier treatment). I was looking up reputable fabric stores in Atlanta to create photography backdrop. Usually I just go in the store but I decided to give them a call, just to get some information. I'm glad I didn't waste my time going in. As soon as I called some snarky young woman picked up as if it were a burden to answer the store's phone. In spite of her attitude I politely said my name and explained why I was calling. In the middle of my explanation she interrupts me and rudely replied "what". I was speaking very slow and clear, so I'm sure she heard me pretty clear. I ended the call there. If that's the service they provide over the phone I'm guessing these bad in store customer service reviews are more than just. Who ever the young lady is that works Monday mornings, please keep her away from the phones. read more

Update May 2019. Another visit. I was greeted as soon as I entered the shop this time. But still overpriced and crowded with hard to see areas. I was looking for a fabric I found in High Point NC. They did have a sample but it was $10 more a yard. Beautiful fabric - terrible customer service- overpriced. I've shopped Boca Bargoons in 2 Florida trips so I was excited to see one near my daughters new home. I walked in at 11 am on a Tuesday - no salesperson ever spoke to me. I was there over 40 minutes but not one sales person greeted me or inquired if I needed help. I passed several but not a word. The store has many beautiful selections however they had several bays stacked with so much fabric you couldn't get to the items on the racks or really see the items stacked up. The majority of items were over priced (I was comparison shopping for similar items from DC and NY.). I know Alpharetta is an expensive suburb but if you call your shop Bargoons... read more

Decent selection of fabrics, though there's nothing you can't get elsewhere and the prices are no better than other places. But seriously, if you're going to work at a fabric store as a "designer" you should at least know what interlining is and that "velvet" is not a fiber content. And if you DON'T know what you're talking about, you shouldn't act imperious and snobbish in order to cover for your lack of knowledge if a customer has questions. And all that aside, you should never, ever, treat a customer as though they were an annoyance, or at least, not if you want that person to actually be a customer for long. Yeah, I'll keep driving down into Atlanta for fabrics- it's not like it saves me money to get treated like crap in the suburbs. I left today shaking my head at the bizarreness of the experience. Went looking for fabric for a reupholstering project. I was completely ignored, so I walked around browsing. Finally, one woman reluctantly asked if I was doing okay. I started asking her a question, and before I could get more than a few words out she walked away because someone, obviously more important, asked her something. Then, she was just hanging out listening to another group of woman talking. So I left. And left a review instead of getting the fabric I wanted. read more

After reading the other reviews, I laughed thinking no way a fabric store which should be customer service driven would have bad customer service. Wrong! Walked in-3 people were at the desk and not one of them acknowledged me- they did stare at me. I wondered around the entire store- no interaction. Will admit that the selection and prices are great. The reviews were so accurate! As I continued to look at fabrics, I thought do I really want to spend any money here. The store was not busy. Went up to the desk and asked for assistance - the look from the one associate (who turned out to be the manger...really???) would have sent most people out the door. My brief interaction was short and rude. She gave me a scissor and told me what I could do if I wanted samples. The store got busier and I noticed the interaction with various customers - or lack of. If they know you, they are eager to work with you. Others were given scissors like me. Never judge people by the way they dress and never assume anyone's spending power. Have not used the company but a dear friend just had a chair done by them (they need to post the picture). Holy CRAP was it *BAD*. When I saw the picture I thought they were selling an old USED chair, not a brand new redone chair. It looks/ed HORRIBLE. My first and only experience with this location has been horrible. The customer service lacks professionalism. A twelve week wait has turned into a minimum 20 week wait. I would not recommend them to anyone. If I had not paid at a $1000 I would chalk it up as a loss. I I went to Boca Bargoons and asked Elizabeth for some help. I was having a very difficult time making a decision to mix patterns, tweeds and other fabrics. As soon as I showed her my samples and told her what I planned, she led me to some new options and they were perfect! I think this store offers great expertise to those of us who are less than well-versed in upholstery fabrics, and I recommend this location of Boca Bargoons for anyone who wants some good advice! We have had many items reupholstered through them and enjoy how they let you take samples home to see what it might look like st home. Make sure you leave the store with your fabric. If they have to order it - beware! I picked out a fabric for draperies and they said they'd have to order more and it would take two weeks. OK, two weeks, even three or four would have been fine to cut down on my time and the hassle of running around to other stores. Was I wrong. It was two days shy of 3 months between buying the fabric and actually getting it. And if they said sorry or said that it was not the way they normally operate, I would have understood but I heard nothing but excuses about it being hung up here or there. For all I know, this is the normal way they operate. I guess it goes to the lack of customer service. I may buy fabric again at this location but only if I can walk out the door with it. read more

An employee there quoted us for a chair reupholster. We found the price to be reasonable. Explained we also wanted to have the chair cleaned up a bit, and told us there would be a "nominal fee" to do so. The next day, the employee called to tell us that the price of reupholstery for the chair would be an ADDITIONAL $149 and the nominal fee for cleaning it up would be $199. We told her we would come to get the chair and we absolutely did. This was a complete bait and switch. They should have honored the price they quoted in the first place. I tried it again today and not even a word spoken to me in the 30 minutes I walked through the whole store! Not a word! Customer service is nil! Just talked to someone at the Alpharetta location. I asked if they would reupholster 8 dining room chairs - letting them know I had the fabric which was a gift that was given to me a year ago. Obviously the person I was speaking to did not have the correct information. She was asking me to text a picture of the chairs which I was happy to do. Then, she consulted with an associate and the associate told her they don't do the upholstering work if the fabric is not purchased from them. So, what ends up happening is this: when I need to buy fabric for my next project, I will NOT go to Boca Bargoons. They lost a customer. read more

I've been here before and know exactly what previous reviewers are talking about but I needed just a few yards for a Pinterest idea so I went back. Suffice it to say the 3 visible employees in this vast land of fabric congregate among themselves, don't welcome anyone, are not friendly and are not salespeople. I have no idea what they sell other than fabric by the yard. I decided to ask one of them about future color trends and was pleasantly surprised to engage in a nice conversation. Great fabric selection and prices. There are a lot of comments about poor customer service. I found the employees willing and able to help and made nice suggestions. My only complaint was that if someone approached her while waiting me, the employee would walk away, take care of the person that interrupted, and finally come back to me. I was excited to go to Boca Bargoons, due to my mom's experience with one in Florida. My mom used to have her own workroom, and after having just bought a 5 bedroom house, she was ready to help me pick fabric to decorate my home. We went to Boca Bargoons and every one at the front looked up, but not one person said a thing.No hello, welcome or can we help you? The selection itself is beautiful, but the customer service was non existent so I refused to spend at least a thousand dollars in a store where my business was not welcome. I'm a little late reviewing this store, but I'm doing it anyway. I visited Boca Bargoons months ago. I came with swatches of existing fabrics, a bag with measurements, etc., so was clearly a serious shopper. I walked in and the two women at the counter right in front of the door completely ignored me. I was busy choosing fabrics and could hear them when someone they knew came in. LOTS of laughing and chatting about their cats and whatever. I walked back and forth in front of them many times - nothing. I was carrying two bolts of fabric. Still nothing. I seriously wondered if I was invisible. The store is lovely - arranged by color, neatly displayed, prices seemed reasonable. After about 45 minutes of looking, I put the fabrics down and headed for the door. Dianne was amazing and patient....she walked me all over the store, offering several combination options, and plenty of samples/swatches to take home to see in my lighting.
