I tried this spot for the first time, let me start off with saying the person who took my order was very friendly and courteous. When I picked up my order the service was awesome. Now for the food, they offer 2 types of sauce a New York and regular. He talked me into trying the New York sauce. I have to say it was absolutely delicious, I also ordered buffalo wings they cooked to perfection and very well seasoned. The Pizza was cooked perfectly nice crispy thin layer and then a fluffy inside... but the New York sauce is KING at this spot. I have been coming to Bob's for the past 20yrs. Brought our kids up on this place as a special treat. We all look forward to this place. Yesterday we ordered it and picked it up and unfortunately to our surprise for the first time ever the crust was different. It still tasted ok but we couldn't get over the change in the crust. It wasn't as soft with the perfect amount of fluff. It was more tough and had no flavor. We aren't going to give up on em. My parents use to bring me here as a kid 30 years ago. Always drive past this place and wonder if it's as god as I remember. Was trying to figure where to get pizza from and decided to try Bob's once again after 30 YEARS... when I walked in to get the pizza, the smell of the pizza took me back to when I was a kid, still that same smell I love and remember. Called in for a large pizza well done. I was very clear that I wanted a pizza extremely well done. A young gentleman over the phone told me he will tell the chef to do it. I arrived and the young gentleman told me my pizza just went in the oven. I asked why he said they were busy. So I was confused due to the fact I had called in my pizza almost 20 minutes prior. It turns out he had me confused with another costumer who had the same name. Ok I can understand that I guess. He gives me my pizza which is extremely undercooked. I asked him why he did not cook it the way I had asked him to over the phone. Hi reply was that "he did not cook it". I kindly asked if there was any way he could put it back in the oven for a few minutes? He replies that there is nothing they could do. Omg really, how is this kid at the front of the house. He said sorry, keep in mind I was very clear over the phone when I ordered and I let him know it was my first time trying there food. After leaving I realized he did not give or offer cheese, pepper, napkins or even a plate! Very disappointed in this place for its lack of customer service. I had the same experience as Brian S. The 1st time I came it was ok to good. Got the pastrami pizza with the line, "I'm not sure if we have any pastrami left". But they put just enough on it to make me try it one more time. The next time I went I got the same line, "I'm not sure if we have any pastrami left." This time it was a cheese and mustard pizza with about 4 slices of pastrami. They are local and I really want them to succeed. But the pizzas are way to expensive and toppings are simply. I kno they're trying to survive, but skimping is only going to continue the downward spiral. Word of advice, go all out on your pizzas, especially with the price your charging, to build up your base 1st. BJ's started as a little pizza joint in one of the most violent barrios of Santa Ana, but their commitment to quality (at that time) built up their following. Same with Scratch Pizza. My fiancee and I wanted to support a local small business during the pandemic, so when a pizza craving hit I knew what to do. I had seen Bob's on Yelp a number of times and noticed its high ratings, so I had it bookmarked for just such an occasion. We ordered a combo meal of a one-topping pizza, plus an order of wings and a 2-liter of Coke all for under $25, which is a way better deal than you'd get from Pizza Hut, Papa John's, Domino's, etc. The pizza was really good, no complaints there. I didn't have any wings, but my fiancee assured me they were also very tasty. The only issue was the 2-liter of Coke, which never arrived, so I had to spend an inordinate amount of time on the phone with GrubHub sorting that out and being refunded. Other than that issue, I'd recommend Bob's, and will likely eat their pizza again (though hopefully my Coke shows up next time)! read more
