Okay!! So the first time I had Bob's pizza was yearsss ago (~2021?) at Recess. I remember trying this pizza sitting on the patio, and immediately falling in love! Flash forward, I stopped seeing Bob's pizza on the Recess menu and had almost forgotten about it until I moved to Old Town this year. Convenient... right down the street from Bob's! A girlfriend and I ordered a pepperoni pizza to split on a Friday night in. We were surprised there was only one size, but it ended up being perfect for two! I even had it as a leftover slice the next day and it was just as good. Next time I NEED to try the pickle pizza- the photos look incredible and it sounds like something right up my alley :). Bobs is a decent place for the pickle pizza and highly recommend the nuggets. Those two were the stars of the show and the ranch was solid. The other pizzas are easily beat by other Chicago gems. But if in the area and wanting something different, I recommend those two! read more

Stopped by Bob's Pizza and was super impressed. The slice was huge, piping hot, and absolutely delicious. I got the mushroom and onion slice--perfectly seasoned, with a crispy-yet-chewy crust and just the right amount of cheese. The toppings tasted fresh and flavorful. The internet led us to Bob's in a roundabout way. As in first it misled us to some location around the corner - what was supposed to be a restaurant turned out to be a rowdy club with a restaurant section that was already closed. Starving, from out of town, and it being close to midnight, the internet then told us Bob's was right around the corner. We came, we ordered, we received and we left. We had a good ol time with the two workers there talking about all kinds of whatever while the pizza cooked; they were quite friendly. The price of the pizza was higher than I accept but we didn't have much choice at 11:50p and so I told myself "their rent for this lil spot probably is brutal". Plus I asked for a swap from Sprite to Coke Zero and they didn't have that, but gave us a water bottle for free. Yay, thanks! The missing star is because of no place to sit and no restroom. The margherita is tasty enough but light on protein (cheese) and very bready. Nothing wrong with that, but it seems to be more of an elevated pizza bread than an actual pizza. The crust IS good, so if you're into carbs (I'm not) it might be fine. They do have frequent half-off promotions, and the staff are charming. It's probably just not my thing. read more

Okay amazing. What a gem. The owner apparently just decided to name it Bobs Pizza because his first name (Matt) wasn't appealing to him. I find this to be charming and just a good vibe. The name Bob is familiar /accessible to everyone and honestly who doesn't love a bob in their life. I digress. This is my type of pizza. It's thin light really really good local ingredients but not pretentious. Just bespoke enough to elevate the average pizza flavor but definitely nostalgic and what makes you say ahh this is childhood but big city living vibes. All signs point to YES you should get it. From what I can tell, this is no longer a legitimate business. We used to order from here fairly frequently, and the pizza was good. For the last couple of orders, we've ordered delivery from their website, and they sent us a text message indicating that the pizza was delivered. However, we don't get a doorbell ring or a phone call, and after walking around the block, the delivery is nowhere to be found. (We've not had issues with any other delivery service.) Save yourself the hour before having to call elsewhere for food. read more

I love Bobs Pizza -- definitely my favorite in Chicago. All the pizzas are so good (even the pickle pizza, it's not at "pickle-y" as you would think). Unfortunately you can't dine in here as it is quite literally a hole in the wall. The two for one happy hour deal is amazing, but even if you don't make it for happy hour the pizzas are pretty affordable for the size. The workers are always friendly. Definitely recommend if you live in the area or are close enough to drive to pick it up (or even delivery!). read more

We've been ordering for over a year. Lately, they have not been delivering on their ingredients. I ordered today and paid for extra sauce and there was barely ANY sauce. I'm a huge pizza Napoletana fan, which makes Gallucci's and Roebuck's my favorite places to eat in town, but Bob's Pizza taught me that Pilsen-style pizza deserves some love too! The chewy and crispy dough is reminiscent of pizza Napoletana but more like if pizza Napoletana and Brooklyn-style had a love child together. A beautiful chewy dough love child. Updating my review. I ordered a pepperoni pizza tonight and it wasn't great. I ordered online as I usually do and my email said pick up between 6:35-6:45 and the text said 6:45-6:50. I went at 6:45 to be safe and would be fine waiting a few minutes. When I got there, the guy asked me my name multiple times, asked if I ordered online, and it seemed they didn't have my order, even after showing him my email confirmation. So I ended up waiting 10 minutes. No big deal. I wasn't planning on updating my review for that, as I know that happens sometimes. However, when I got home from my short walk (2 blocks), I looked down at my vest and there was oil/grease all over it from the pizza. It had leaked through the box and onto my vest and my shirt. (Pictures shown) Mind you, I hadn't been carrying the box upside down or anything - I was carrying it normally. There was so much oil that it made the pizza soggy and really not appetizing. I know pizza has extra grease on it at times but wow, I've never had this happen before, even with cheap chains. After a long week, I was looking forward to relaxing with some good pizza, so this was a crappy surprise. We tried this place on the way out of town. It is easy to miss as you are driving because there are not ,any other businesses right next to it to pop it out! but the window signs help spot it when Google tells us where it is. this place did not appear to have seating! so to go it is! the staff was great! offered pepperflakes and parm after I asked for some napkins and plates (we were eating this in the van on the way back to Indiana). The pies are good size... eyeballing 14 inch or larger. Order time was 20 to 30 minutes. I open the box..... holy money that cheese. I wish I had taken pictures! but feeding g 5 hungry kiddos while stuffed in limited moving space.... it was a shame. Quick and no frills pizza spot. Definitely not the worst pizza I've ever had but definitely no where near the best. Pizza looks appetizing but doesn't taste like much. Lots of air bubbles making the crust super inconsistent. If it weren't for the air bubbles, this pizza would've had more potential. Also, the micro greens need to chill. If I wanted greens I'd order a salad. Anything that looks like/reminds me of cilantro gives me the ICK, so I wasn't a fan of it all over my pizza like that. I had really been wanting to try a pickle pizza so I was ecstatic when I found out this place had it. Their original pickle pizza has mortadella, garlic cream, dill pickles & fresh dill. I ordered delivery and this pizza fulfilled all my pickle pizza dreams. It was crunchy, tangy and creamy. If you're on the fence about trying pickle pizza, this is your sign to do it, you will not be disappointed! They do not skimp on the toppings either as you can see in the photo. Yumm what delicious and creative pizzas! The pickle pizza in particular was so creative - the crunch of the pickles adds fantastic texture, while the sour tanginess nicely contrasts the garlic cream. It doesn't feel too heavy because of these toppings. Though keep in mind, it doesn't keep as well as other pizzas (pickles are weird microwaved...), so make sure you scarf it all down! We also got the pepperoni pizza, which was very different and a great delight. Specifically, it was surprisingly spicy and the heat helped cut the heaviness from the meat. I wish I knew what Pilsen Style Pizza was. For example, what characteristics make this pizza different from a regular pizza? If someone asked me to describe a Chicago Style Pizza or New York Style Pizza I could. This Pilsen pizza eludes me, but supposedly that's Bob's schtick. I really like Bob's pizza. They don't have many pizza options, but I like the ones that are fun, particularly the pickle and kimchee pizzas! They're really large pizzas and only come that size. The crusts are sturdy and chewy which makes for great reheated leftovers (or cold!). The toppings are a LITTLE salty, but what do you expect from pickled things? Anyway, I like to add honey or truffle oil to my pizzas to give them a little oomph. My wife really liked the mushroom pizza with added truffle oil. That combo was her absolute favorite, otherwise she thinks Bob's Pizza is just okay. I've also gotten salad from Bob's and it wasn't memorable. Pizza can vary by region, type, and style. Usually the easiest distinction amongst them is the crust. Bob's Pizza five star ratings seem to reflect people's preference than anything. If you like paper thin crust pizza, then Bob's Pizza is your place. I prefer pizza that has some weight to it, something like where the crust and dough comes out to a semi-sponge texture in my hand. With Bob's I feel I could toss my slice of pizza like a frisbee into the wind. That isn't a complaint by no stretch. Even though the pizza is super thin and light it has great taste and flavoring, and has a rich buttery tomato sauce. Secret Ingredients: Beer in the Crust: They add beer to their crust mix and it makes this remarkably soft and somewhat bubbly edges to the crust-so when you reheat it the next day it still tastes as if it "just arrived" at your residence. Unique Toppings: Dill Pickle Pizza-YES!!! Hungarian Pepperoni-YESS!!-this is what I ordered...the cheese was perfectly blended and melted and added a nice sauce to cheese ratio-there was a garlic flavored background from an olive oil which contributed to the cheesy goodness of the pizza and "SHAZAM!" I have NEVER had Hungarian Pepperoni-what a divine intervention-delicious in EVERY way with a smoky, sharp, and spicy touch..but NOT over powering.
