I have been coming here for years, a plate of the the blueberry pancakes is a tradition for our vacation stay at OBX. We do like it and even the slogan "Eat and get the Hell out". But this year the attitude matches the slogan. I tried to go - just me - the hostess asked did I want a table or squeeze in at the bar. The bar is an awful setup if there are already people there, just 6 spots, one is occupied by a screen, on is on the verge of jutting into the main traffic in and out of the kitchen. So no, and there were multiple booth/tables available. She just sighed at me like I was asking for the moon when I asked for a table. Got my table and noted the table on my right where the people were looking around impatiently. Heard the server apologizing to the table on my left, for a missing item on their order. Heard another apology going on at the table across the aisle for cold coffee. Watched another table also waiting to be acknowledged, and they had arrived before me. So - I did the sane thing and left. read more

I was refused service here at 9 on a Saturday night, they said they were closed when there were a lot of white people who just received food. I didn't take it personal, I just think they should change their slogan to " Get the hell out." read more

Great selection of soups and sandwiches. Their salads are huge so I recommend sharing them with a friend. I had the club sandwich and loaded potato soup what a great combination. Yelp map was incorrect they are located on East Lake Drive NatWest there on the ocean side of the bypass. read more

We actually wanted to go to Stack'em High Pancakes next doors. Unfortunately, it was off season and it was closed. Their slogan "eat and get the hell out" transferred to me saying "lets get the hell out of here" I disliked it very much. I ordered the eye opener and it really openend my eyes for this breakfast place. Although it was pretty much filled with people and they seemed to enjoy it. I think that the eye opener didnt fulfill what it promissed. The eye opener was coming with 2 eggs and hash browns. I ordered my eggs sunny side up, however, they were still undercooked and I scrapped the white yolk off the remaining eggs. There were no hash browns to be found, skillets yes, or homefries as they are called - I assume. Very misleading and not as good as I expected the breakfast to be. The skillets could have been in the pan a little longer, so that all of them would have been a bit more crispy. I had an Orange Juice and Chocolate Milk, too. The OJ was ok, but not too yummy and a bit sour. The chocolate milk was presented in two mini milk cartons, which I had to pour into a plastic glass myself. Which is not a biggy, but I just find it odd. The waitress was nice. But the food really did not make my day. Apparently, this place gets recommended by the surrounding hotels. I told the receiptionist at my hotel that it was not good at all. She was surprised but hasnt been there for the past year or so. But also mentioned that a new chef was suppose to start the weekend we went. Well, I hope the new member of staff will be better soon. However, I will not go there again. I can recommend Jolly Rogers though, they were really good! read more

I've been here 4 times now--this last time was for lunch-- I had their new yogurt/granola/fruit bowl (granola is homemade by Bob's wife) it was yummy could have used a lil more yogurt, husband had the chicken ceaser wrap--blackened--which he said was great, mom had the burger (she couldn't finish it) it was bigger then the bun. She was pleased--she was excited when she found out we were taking her back here. She loves their motto "eat and get the hell out". And by the way they never hqave rushed us out. Love the ceiling tiles with the tee shirt covers. We did try to go to Stack'em high a couple of years ago--it is cafeteria style (stand in line and order your food) when I am on vacation I want to be waited on and Bob's was right next door so he got our business and we stop there for at least one meal every trip down. A table next to us ordered Bob's shrimp and grits and we over heard him say they were excellent--me I would never order grits. And when you hear a cook let the staff now they are out of something--has me thinking they make it from scratch and doesn't come form a pre-made container. It may take them a little longer to re-make as oppesed to opening a can and putting it in the steam table ( I have managed restaurants) read more

This was our second choice for breakfast. There are apparently not a lot of options for breakfast, so most of the places were packed. After about a 20 minute wait we got in. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. I started with an iced mocha, which was more like a milkshake. It was creamy and filled with probably 3,000 calories. I had the veggie omelet which came with homefries and toast. It was big and too much to finish. One of my daughters ordered the crab and feta omelet. I tried some. It had a good crab flavor. Although, she did find some shells in it. We ate and as the sign says, "got the hell out." read more

Been here a few times. The best breakfast prices in the OBX for a place like this. A good sized breakfast for a great price. Went there to get breakfast & the food was fantastic! I had 3 pancakes that were unbelievably huge! My wife had a BLT that was the size of which I've never seen one before! Really good chow. Great place for breakfast. I don't know about other meals, but breakfast is excellent. By far the best place we ate for breakfast while in OBX. I had corned beef hash omelet, my kids split eggs, and pancakes. The pancakes are huge. I mean 8" diameter. And they are tasty. Some of the best I have had. The crab omelette my father chose was excellent, although my mother thought the whole concept of crab for breakfast was foreign to us Midwesterners. One thing to keep in mind. Go early. There are very few quality places for breakfast, and while it was slow when we were there. It was busy by the time we left. During the slow time, Bob the owner conversed with the locals and us visitors. He was polite and friendly. Once business picked up, he promptly made his way to the kitchen. The motto is "Eat and get the hell out" but we never felt pressured to leave any sooner than we desired. Just go before the rush and ignore reviews where people complain about waiting for a table. Great beach breakfast spot. No frills here just good food. Been there a few times and have never been disappointed with the breakfast.

EDIT: Stormy was the server's name, and she was the main problem. Like others have said, she's in the wrong business! Well their slogan says it all I guess. Halfway decent mediocre food. Very rude waitress (Stormy). Half the food arrived and we couldn't get silverware before it got cold. Then the other half came with silverware, and when the entire table asked for refills everyone felt ashamed for asking due to the server's apparent attitude. "Eat and get the hell out". They live up to their slogan for sure. Oh and $2.59 for 4oz of crappy coffee, waited for a refill asked twice and it never came. I feel ignorant for choosing this place. read more

I have to admit, we went to Bob's after the restaurant next door had an hour wait for breakfast. Thank goodness for that! Bob's was a great breakfast spot. We went there three times in our 2 week stay. Had the eggs and corned beef hash and hash browns. The potatoes were probably the best I've ever had in a breakfast joint! Never went back for lunch or dinner, but if they can produce the same goodness that they did for breakfast, you're good to go!! read more

OK, where to start? I guess I'll start out with the positive. I ordered the eggs and hash which is two eggs with corned beef hash and a choice of hash browns or grits, and toast or buiscuit. I elected the hash browns and toast. The eggs were cooked ok - I ordered them medium. Surprisingly the corned beef hash was good. The "hash browns" were not hash browns, they were "home fries" a big difference. While they had lots of pepper on them, they still were not seasoned very well....needed salt. My wife had eggs and grits. The grits were terrible. We expect better than a box mix when dining in the south. Also my wife ordered the biscuits, what a disappointment. They were more like a hockey puck dusted in flour. So disappointing for a restaurant in the south. The signage of this restaurant says: " eat in.....and get the hell out." My advice to diners, just stay the hell out and go somewhere else for breakfast. read more

Recently just stumbled upon this place while a group of friends and I were out looking for a place to get breakfast. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere is very divey. You would not expect the type of food we received with that atmosphere. Their specials menu was amazing & we wanted to order everything off of it bc it all sounded so delicious. Our group ordered crab & bacon fries to share - I seriously recommend ordering! I ordered the seafood breakfast burrito, and it did not disappoint. Stopped here while on vacation. Great eats! Wife had the enormous Philly Steak while I chowed down on the prime rib. Next night we went looking for a different place to eat. Stopped by the local firehouse as the the engine was backing in. Asked the firemen for recommendations and they told me to go back to Bob's. We did. Had the same waitress from the previous night. Shrimp n' Grits were ok (grits filled with peppers, onions, gravy, cheese, shrimp, and sausage)- nothing extraordinary, I liked my hubby's breakfast better. I like a little kick to my shrimp n' grits and these were missing something. (How? They were filled with lots of ingredients!) Hubs had the American omelet, which was cheesy and yummy. Definitely fast service. Prices are low -- reasonable beach prices. Though, with a lot of customers in a short time, waitresses tend to forget things if not reminded, but that's almost inevitable. Atmosphere is ok -- cool touch with t-shirts on the ceiling tiles. Overall, I wasn't too impressed, nothing really wowed me. But if you want basically diner style food, you won't be let down.
