Bob's Firesafe did an amazing job on taking down a huge bay tree that was leaning over our neighbor's house.  Several friends had recommended them, so I called Bob and he was able to get out the next day. He had some recommendations of what to do to the tree to maximize safety and minimize costs for us. He was really easy to work with and not pushy at all. He was interesting to talk to and he was nice to my kids.  His estimate came in at about 2/3 of what other companies quoted. They started the job just a day or two later, and his crew was just as nice, honest, and competent as he was (shout out to Tony and Manny). Honestly, one of the worst service provider experiences I have ever had. I only write 5-star reviews as I feel 'if you don't have anything nice to say....', but I feel this is important enough to warn others. Here's what happened: 1- We had been told by SR Fire Dept that our bamboo privacy screen needed to be trimmed and thinned. I called Bob. 2- Bob was strangely flirtatious over the phone which made me uncomfortable, but which I ignored (red flag #1), asking me to repeat my name several times, saying he 'liked how it sounded' and saying 'I must be good looking if the fire dept allowed me to keep my bamboo'. So inappropriate and what does that have to do with bamboo?? 3-Anyhow, I asked he if he could come by for an estimate. He said there was no need as 'they do this work all the time'. He said it would be 'a couple hundred bucks' and that they could perhaps even begin this afternoon but he'd call me back in 15 minutes to confirm. Never heard back (red flag #2). 4- I show up at my house at 4pm to find 2 guys from Bob's on ladders with chainsaws cutting the hedge. The guys then tell me they just started but their truck is full and they will be back in the AM to finish up (red flag #3). I think why did they come by to cut 5' of the hedge if their truck is too full, but ok? Bob then tells me the price is $375. I confirm again that his price includes dump fees. He says 'yes'. 4- I get a text from Bob at 10pm saying that 'actually the dump fees are going to be at least $375 alone' and that the work would be additional. I told him he should know what dump fees are if he 'does this work all the time'. 5- At this point I'm super uncomfortable and ask him not to return to my property. He then says that he fell on a driveway and hurt his knee and that is the reason his quote was inaccurate?? This is no way to do business and was totally sketchy and unprofessional... and that is being kind. A reminder to always listen to those red flags. Don't walk... RUN away from Bob's Tree Service. There are plenty of great, reputable professionals in the area who deserve your business. These guys are a total scam. read more

Bob and his team were very professional and removed a 70+ foot pine tree from our backyard in San Francisco. It was a really difficult job with tough access and the team handled it with care and as efficiently as possible. While not inexpensive, the price was fair in comparison with the large tree removal companies. Bob and his team are good people as well and would highly recommend them. read more

Service was great. My Tree was infested with Beatles and was dead. This was a 100 ft pine tree that was very heavy. They are pros they took the tree down by meticulously cutting the branches and with ties holding the dead branches and brought to the ground safely. This was a dead tree but very heavy not hollow The tree climber had professional gear on and safety ropes. It took a team of 5 men to cut the branches up and put them in the chipper. The team meticulously cut rounds several inches thick and brought down by safety ropes until the whole tree was cut down. Excellent work and the tree was safely removed. BOB Inspected my property for fire safety and provided me excellent information about fire safety. Bob's passion protecting your property from a fire. I have a large, steep 1/4 acre property in Mill Valley and had neglected the trees and brush on the hillside for years - and the MF Fire Dept was getting nervous. Called Bob's Firesafe team - they came up, worked hard and not only cleared all brush but trimmed several large trees on my property, and even took down and removed a massive dead redwood that the Fire Dept was concerned about. I was super impressed by the quality of the work. Bob listened to what I wanted, and he and his team were polite and respectful, and most importantly, did a beautiful job for a very fair price. we have been living in Sausalito for over 12 yrs....& have used several tree trimming services.
