It was pipping hot, which I love. The greens were a combination of collard, turnips and mustard greens. I loved the flavor, but wish they were warmer. My grits were not good at all. I opted to have my crawfish gravy on the side bc I love grits enough to eat them solo. Well, these grits were very lumpy and cold. I imagine the chef was relying on the gravy to be used for "loosen" or even heat up the grits. While I loved my fish and the flavor of the greens, both of my sides were room temperature in comparison to my fish. I was a little sad that happened. My partner liked his shrimp etouffee. He said it was pipping hot and full of fantastic flavors. The portion sizes for entrees were generous. I had leftovers for the next day. This is a lovely little spot with great New Orleans-style decor, and the woman working the counter was fantastic. If I ever go on Jeopardy! and Cajun Kate's is a category, I'm feeling pretty confident. She gave us samples of the jambalaya and smoked sausage, and both were delicious. Then came the gumbo. Wow. Tons of different flavors, and you could taste everything. Nothing overpowered anything else--it all worked together beautifully. Cajun Kate's is officially back in our eating rotation. We took our gumbo over to Apothecary Brewing and grabbed a flight. We liked every beer we tried. They were clean and crisp--the way beer should be. A couple could have used a little more flavor for my taste, but overall, a very solid flight. Apothecary is a nice little spot with a fun, chatty crowd.
