While in the city for the PA Flower Show, we made a stop at Reading Terminal Market and stumbled upon Beck's Cajun Café. Honestly, the smell alone made it impossible to walk past. Lucky for us, two seats opened up at the counter just as we got there. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was just as delicious as it smelled while walking by. Everything came out fast, hot, and full of flavor. It was the perfect little taste of Cajun in the heart of the city. It ended up being the ideal lunch spot before heading over to the Flower Show festivities. If you're walking through Reading Terminal Market and catch that amazing aroma, do yourself a favor and stop, you won't regret it.

Chicken and shrimp gumbo over rice

A Vegetarian po boy and chicken/shrimp gumbo, along with corn bread, satisfied our stomachs and taste buds on a break from the Flower Show at the convention center. Service wasn't terribly fast but that was ok - don't go if you need immediate service (or tell the waiter you need to get going I bet she would accommodate bc she was very nice). We were fortunate to get stools at the counter. A good memory for our Philadelphia Flower Show adventure.

Tried the beignets and they were delicious. Hot and fresh, I can tell they are made to order. Nice and pillowy with lots of powdered sugar. Service was quick and friendly but you can only sit down at the counter if you are "dining in" and not for takeout.

I picked up dinner to go here to take back to my hotel room and I wish I had more time to come back and try some of their other dishes! The staff was very polite but the real star of the show was the food! The Shrimp and Crawfish Etouffee was perfectly cooked and just outstanding and flavorful. I will be back on my next trip to Philadelphia!

Took a chance and ordered from here. I've been to New Orleans so I know what the food should taste like and hunny this ain't it. That so called shrimp and crawfish etouffee was a miserable sad excuse for an etouffee. I also ordered a shrimp po boy. The shrimp looked as if they had been fried in oil left over from hurricane katrina. Here was so much breading on them I had to pull some off to make sure there were shrimp inside. I could never bring my friends from New Orleans there for them to try the food. They would never let me live it down. I didn't take a picture of the etouffee. A waste of $30.

Alligator Sausage Po'Boy & 4 Cheese Fried Mac n' Cheese Balls

Beck's is a must try! Located inside of the Reading Terminal, we ordered the gator gumbo, alligator sausage po'boy and the Mac and cheese balls. The alligator po'boy and Mac and cheese balls were so delicious! The alligator sausage had a good snap to it and the bread that came with it was the right texture, soft but not too soft like a hot dog bun. All of the flavors of the po'boy blended well together. The Mac and cheese balls were so yummy and cheesy. It's a must order! The gator gumbo was okay, I think it had too much of a smoky flavor for my liking. Service was excellent! They have seats around their counter and if you want to dine in, you would need to let them know that you're dining in instead of ordering the food for takeout. They don't allow customers who order takeout to sit at their counter, unfortunately. Would recommend!

I'm no expert on Cajun food, but this place really impressed me. The gumbo was comforting, filling, and had a good balance of flavors. My friend had the po boy which he really enjoyed. If you can't decide where to eat in Reading Market, give this place a try

The beignets/small pieces & crab fries/salty from cheese sauce, are both good. Young, knowledgeable staff.

Found Beck's Cajun Cafe while searching for lunch at the market and also hearing wonderful reviews about it. It's situated close to the entrance so thankfully it wasn't hard to locate. I would give this place another try in the fact that maybe what I ordered wasn't the best dish for me. I ordered the chicken and shrimp gumbo with Jambalaya rice. My dish lacked flavor and also lacked chicken. The cornbread was great though! The staff were wonderful though and explained the options on the menu. They tried to move as quickly as they could with the lunch rush. It's super busy due to it being located in the market and they seem to get an influx of people.

Alligator gumbo and sweet tea. That cornbread looked so devine but I just couldn't eat anymore.

Oh my. With so many choices in the Reading Terminal Market make this one of your stops, especially if you have ever visited Nawlins. Food and service good and good price for the amount of food. What did it for me was the gator gumbo and sausage. Gumbo comes over your choice of white rice or jambalaya rice. I also got a sweet tea. The gumbo has a nice little bite to it and the hot sauce they have is also good. I will say it was a little salty, but good none the less. I went back a second time for beignets and cafe du monde coffe and also got some jalapenos shrimp hushpuppies. Beignets OK. But you can't beat the Real ones from Cafe Du Monde. Hushpuppies good with the romolaude.

No complaints. Restaurants in the Resding Terminal are always great but I wasn't expecting much because I've had Creole food in Louisianna which I figured nothing could compare. Boy was I wrong. Everything was flavorful and tasted like it was cooked with care and authentic. The Shrimp Corn Fritters were moist, the Jambalaya was filling but not heavy, and the Red Beans and Rice had a great spicy kick to them. The green onions were very fresh as well. Nice spot to sit and we didnt feel rushed. Service was attentive and friendly. Will come again and I recommend.

They were offering samples of their gumbo that immediately drew us here. Got their fried shrimp poboy with fries that were very good. They were generous with the protein.

Catfish plate

Must try!!! This place is great. Sat up at the counter and ordered a catfish plate for lunch. The catfish is perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. I can't decide what my second favorite part of this dish was- buttery cornbread or red beans and rice. The found was amazingly delicious. The customer service was on point and the food came out so quickly which was perfect because I had to head back to a meeting. Definitely recommend stopping by this place.

So the bowling balls are also smaller. There's just a glitch with the pins where once in a while they may get tangled in each other but the attendants fixes it promptly. The place has a nice size bar and restaurant along side the bowling area. You can also order/eat food and drinks while you bowl. This spot is perfect for everyone: family fun, girls hang out, date night, group activity. I definitely will recommend

There is duck bowling, which means they're small balls and pins, but they're only four lanes, so if you don't make a reservation, you won't be able to bowl. The families that were playing were enjoying themselves. I would come here to bowl and have specific, easy-to-make drinks. We grabbed seats at the bar because the restaurant seemed full, and sports were on the TVs. The bar seats were comfy, with backs on them, and there was a bar to rest your foot. It took a minute to get service, as it seems the bartender is the only one for the whole place. Maybe they need another bartender when the bowling alley and restaurant are both complete. I had an espresso martini, which was too sweet for me. My husband had a mule and thought it was good. My second drink was a tall Titos vodka soda. The bartender informed us that the menu changes on Tuesday, so they have no more crab, which is what I wanted. I was going to order the crab dip and the seafood mac & cheese. We pivoted to fried green tomatoes that were a little too breaded and cooked for me, but the sauce was good. We did get the seafood mac & cheese, but it did not have much shrimp on it. The shells were overcooked and combined, so you had to separate them and cover them in sauce, or the bite didn't have enough flavor. Also, the cheese sauce was a little soupy.

The kind of welcome that reminds you hospitality is still an art. The ambiance is chic, upscale, and intentional without ever feeling stiff. It is not too loud, allowing laughter and conversations to breathe naturally. They thoughtfully left space for guests without reservations, which shows they value people, not just bookings. Everyone was dressed beautifully, and the staff matched that same elevated professionalism. Clean. Polished. Intentional. Our server, Ashley, was exceptional. Knowledgeable. Present. Confident. She didn't just take orders. She guided an experience. The space is wheelchair accessible, and the outdoor courtyard is stunning. Photo worthy. Elegant. It instantly transported me to New Orleans. The aesthetic, the warmth, the spirit. It felt like Mama nem's table on a Sunday after church. Cousins laughing. Plates heavy. Love flowing. Culture present in every detail. Even the private event space is breathtaking. Weddings. Baby showers. Political donor events. Receptions. Community celebrations. I saw vision the moment I looked inside. And now... let's talk about the food. I had the smoked jerk turkey wings, slow cooked to perfection and served with Creole beans and rice and collard greens with smoked turkey. Let me be clear. This was not just food. This was memory. The seasoning was deep, layered, and soulful. The meat was tender, falling off the bone with ease. I fought the urge to bite the bones themselves just to stay in that moment a little longer. The mac and cheese deserves its own standing ovation. Made with a blend of four cheeses and baked into a rich, creamy cheese joy with perfection, it was rich, indulgent, and comforting in every bite. This is not a side. This is an experience. The freshly baked skillet cornbread, served with Steen's cane syrup and honey butter, was warm, soft, and balanced between sweet and savory. It was the kind of cornbread you slow down for. The kind you remember. My Nina mocktail was refreshing, sweet, and layered. Every sip revealed something new. A drink meant to be savored, not rushed. My husband ordered the buttermilk fried chicken, drizzled with hot honey and served alongside collards with smoked turkey and sweet potato gratin. I stole a wing, of course. Moist. Flavorful. Perfectly crisp. The kind of bite that makes you close your eyes and say "mmmm" without realizing it. This is not just a restaurant. It is culture. It is comfort. It is community. Meeting the general manager felt like reconnecting with family you didn't know you missed. From the first hello at the door to the final goodbye, I felt seen, welcomed, and valued. Even the bathrooms and hallways are selfie worthy. Every detail is intentional. This is where you bring your spouse. Your girls. Your sorors. Your frat brothers. Your business partners. Your family.
