Best food find on our weekend trip to the Turlock swap meet, stopped here in Ceres on our way home to grab breakfast and it was exactly what we were looking for. Quaint mom and pop place, very clean, very nice and prompt service, and the food was delicious. Family friendly and our two kids loved the food just as much as we did. However, I was not impressed with my overall experience. Usually little hole-in-the-wall places are the gems in any place but I would say that the food was sub-par. I ordered the chicken fried steak with country potatoes and eggs. The chicken fried steak was actually pretty good, very flavorful, but I felt the country potatoes had been cooked hours before and left to sit out just waiting for someone to order them. My sister ordered sausage, bacon, hashbrowns and a waffle. She said all were standard and the bacon was probably her favorite part. Service was also okay and was actually really attentive until the end. We were approached as soon as we sat down and our food was out within 15 minutes of ordering. It did take the waitress about 10 minutes to bring us our check, when there were only 3 other tables occupied in the restaurant. Maybe my expectations were a little high beforehand but I wouldn't rave about it as others do. Overall, it was sub-par food and okay service. read more

Horrible service if you don't personally know the waitress they don't care. I got a waffle with strawberry and whip cream, it said strawberry compote. What I got was a rubbery cold waffle with thawed out frozen strawberries on top a huge slab of butter and whip cream on top. It was horrible the waitress did not come back. She stayed up front. Tried the place here on Whitmore, not impressed at all. Sad to say, I have been going to Bob's ever since they opened when I was in high school way back in the early 90's. We would go there for lunch and get a great meal for a great price. I moved away and went to the one in Hughson and it was fantastic.
