I needed some warm food, I entered this place to have some good / no gimmick delicious meal. Their combination plate with 2 different kind of kabobs (chicken & beef skewers) was very warm and delicious I chose hummus & rice as side (they also have Green salad) and overall it tasted very good. Good portion, very healing warm meal. I rarely drink soda & The Dr Pepper Creamsoda flavor was a first for me, surprisingly very good. This place was close to the office I was working at so I decided to grab lunch here on more than one occasion, I had also gotten good reviews from my colleagues so I just had to! The first time I ordered I was able to call ahead of time and pick up. On my way out I noticed they had calypso drinks (iykyk) and I instantly regretted not looking at their drink menu when I placed my order. But my chicken wrap was great! I also ordered the tabbouleh which has a kick of spice to it! The next time I went I went with two work colleagues and we were able to get a table outside. It's a bit noisy out there with the street traffic but that's expected being right off of a main Blvd. That time I ordered the beef plate and it was also great. I walked to this place because I read a review that it is a nice quiet place for coffee and breakfast. That it is. The lady spoke to me in Spanish right off the bat and I get it..I do look Hispanic. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant with small coffee ($8.50) which was one of their specials this morning, plus one small fresh orange juice. My total for the order was $16.43 plus a $2.46 tip and there was no table service. So total was 18.89 because the fresh OJ was $6.50! The food was ok with sandwich on the saltier side. I did enjoy the peace although the place had a steady walk in clientelle while I was there on a Friday at 9:30am. So..I finished my breakfast, returned my plastic sandwich basket and politely asked for a refill for my coffee. The lady says "Sorry but you have to pay $2.50." This was ridiculous. It was regular coffee that came out of a pumped thermos! I found that policy unacceptable. At least one refill shld be allowed but that's just me. If this place blew my socks off, I wouldn't have minded that. Needless to say, I will not be back and they can stick their coffee beans you know where. read more

Just tried the Beef Kabob plate today. The meat is a little on the fried side, but it's not thing that can't be fixed with some butter and salt. The rice is a bit on the mushy side, so if you are picky about your rice-- I recommend asking for a substitute or get a lot of salad and dressing. For $11, I would consider the portion of the beef kabob fair. Alternatively, you can order a side of Hummus & pita to make your own pita sandwich as well!. Delicious, no frills hole-in-the-wall! Server was really friendly and made all our food to-order. Everything was so tasty and fresh, though you wouldn't expect it just from looking at the place. The pita bread deserves a special shout out because it tasted so good on its own, and it was perfectly rolled out (pita bread isn't supposed to be thick, folks). Ask for extra garlic sauce because that stuff is BOMB. Our least favorite item was the falafel, which was a little airy and chalky, and missing the bite you get from more coarsely ground chickpeas + that herby punch that makes falafel so moreish. Overall though, we really enjoyed our meal and thought it tasted better than other pricier Mediterranean establishments we've been to. There is also free parking in the back. Warmed up my freezing soul, great for eating on a cold and rainy day :) Small Cup $3 & Large Cup $4.50. I also got the Combo Plate $8.50 (Beef & Chicken kabobs). The beef is a bit spicier, but definitely a favorite! It's plump and juicy. The chicken was pretty good, but a lil dry. The rice - generous amount, so plump and fluffy too! The service is straightforward and kind. You order + pay upfront and they will either call you or bring the food to your table. There are a few tables inside and on the patio that lines Wilshire Blvd. My one but best eat: - Combo plate ~$11 with tax: Very flavorful and tender beef kabob + chicken kabob served on a bed of salad and side of hummus with pita and rice. Seriously yum with the perfect flavor combination. There's no "interesting ambience", hipster drink jars, or even reusable plates (food was served on Styrofoam plates accompanied by plastic silverware); so the food speaks for itself when I say, "I'll be baaaack". So bummed. The reviews were all great but whatever I got was def not... got two combination plates and some falafel. Everything was extremely dry, there was no hummus or pita... and the sauce to dip the 'falafel' in was basically water. Not really sure what their falafel is but it tasted more like a cornbread ball. The staff here has got to be the most inconsistent and laziest staff in any establishment ever. It clearly says on Yelp that they open at 9:00am for breakfast but on 5 separate occasion (both weekday and weekend), i have come here around 9:05am to 9:30am and they weren't even open. I even came one time in the morning and there was staff inside and they ignored me! Like I said, i'm really rooting for this place since it's a local spot but they've consistently let me down. Also asked me if I would like the pita from the sample plates that were put on display. Whattttttttttt! I'm not going to have something I don't even know when it was put out! BG was really not great as per the reviews- or maybe I had lost complete hopes in this place. It was very chunky and Extremely cold for some reason. It came with the salad with balsamic glazing. American salad in Mediterranean place. The lettuce was stale and the balsamic did no wonder. Falafel was alright, four pieces, which obviously I couldn't finish. So I asked if I can have a to go box. The box offered had some oil and spices on it. And asked for some tzatiki sauce for the falafels. And omg! The sauce didn't have a lid for it and I was offered a foil wrap. Just got the hell out of there in 20. The guy came and apologized couple of times but it was extremely unprofessional and he didn't seem to care much and I came out feeling disgusted. So while you're very particular about money matters, service is totally taken granted for? Didn't mind the styrofoam serving plate but this unruly service I definitely mind. Not going to return ever! In all honesty, this place is pretty good. Bobs Cafe is located right across the Wilshire and Vermont metro station and that is how I stumbled upon this little hole in the wall. The youngster behind the cash register looked like he was indifferent about working there. He was also indifferent about greeting the guests, taking their order, and thanking them for their contributions. His face was pretty dry. Anyways, there was and older African America server, he made my visit worth while. He was very attentive and had a huge smile on his face the whole time I was there. I ordered a plate of the Chicken kabob. It came with a nice salad, lightly dressed to perfection. Also, what looked to me like jasmine rice, the rice was mouth watering and perfectly cooked.
