I looked for a mechanic that worked on Volvos, and I found Thomas Auto Service. They were great! They were able to get me in that day, a Friday, diagnosis the problem, and get me running again. They did not have one of the computer chips on hand and could not get it till Monday - it was a Friday afternoon mind you - but they fixed me up enough, let me know what warning lights would stay on, and got me on my way. I feel I was treated very fairly and honestly. As an out of towner, who would probably never be back again, you worry about being taken advantage of by an unscrupulous mechanic. That was not the case here, at all. They were very honest, and the prices were very good (less than I was expecting, honestly), and it was quality work that allowed me to continue on my journey that day. Labor estimate was $500 BUT they were "unable" to tell me what type of flywheel I would need. Somehow their computer couldnt look up what parts they would need to make the repair so my quote was an open ended $1200. They said they wouldnt know until they pulled the transmission....REALLY? Are people that dumb? Sure, let me leave you my car, NOT knowing how much you really intend to rip me off because you "dont know" I seriously hope no one is that naive.
