Came here around 9pm on a Saturday. There were only 2 people and 2 staff in the bar. The staff person "greeted" us by stating it was cash only and then walking away. The bar is small but with only 4 people it felt huge. Also all the other bars we were at were full. The bathroom door is difficult. I almost called for help to get out. Overall it's divey with an abundance of niknaks and stuffed monkeys. They started karaoke at 9:30. It seems the songs are older. There is a couple that comes every night. It felt extremely awkward being one of the few being sung to. If you want to practice singing without judgement this may be the place for you. read more

So this began as an awesome karaoke night . My husband and I were visiting Key West for a long weekend. We stopped in on ga Thursday night to find karaoke DJ Jeff setting up for the evening. Deborah was behind the bar. Both did an excellent job and both were pleasant and easy going. We had such a great time that we decided we were going to come back each night of our stay. We went back on Friday to find Deborah behind the bar and a new DJ named Aramis. He had a big personality but did not run the karaoke rotation well. I went up to ask him a simple question and that resulted in an evening of disappointment. He skipped our turns in the rotation and told us that we should not sing a duet to wasgether and then have a single turn even though the duet was only on one turn. We've been doing karaoke long enough to understand that everyone has different rules. This guy makes them up as he goes along. So we went back to our hotel and decided we would give it another try on Valentine's Day. We go back in time for karaoke to start and find a new x Vicky who is very nice and Aramis again. I was nothing but nice to him I said hello put in our song slips. This time started off well but as the night went on he started favoring his friends favoring people who slipped him money to bump themselves ahead and totally ran a rotation and skipped us entirely. We mentioned something to the bar tender and she said don't argue with him. I wasn't arguing I was trying to ask a question simply because an entire turn had gone by and we were skipped. So first my husband went up to talk to him and was greeted with a very rude response. Then I we cannt to speak with him and he said I don't follow a rotation You're not guaranteed another turn we make our money by getting tips so people that pay us to overhead go first! This was Valentine's Day and there was a huge crowd and I was just so upset that we paid the bill and walked out . We WILL NOT go back because of this rude and very obnoxious DJ. It's really sad that he chose to treat us that way. I suggest that if you choose to visit, you plan to go on a night that DJ Amaris is not hosting! read more

Never been inside, I pass by when on my security patrol, but I understand they are LGBTQ friendly and most nights when I pass by, the noise level is very reasonable, as well as a good "crowd size" (fewer than 20, as I see from the door). It's conveniently located up the street from a 24-hour CVS Pharmacy, as well as about two blocks from Duval St. I did meet Debra, the gal who was locking up one night a few months back, and she was very friendly. They have karaoke night again it's a dive bar, but nothing to be afraid of. The bar old, excepts cash and if you didn't bring any they've got an ATM for your convenience. Drinks are strong and cheap. There's no smoking allowed inside the bar so you'll see everyone congregate in the front of the bar where the Astros sit. The staff was relatively friendly. Walked in on a Saturday night around 8pm to find a bar with 4 people inside and about 300 stuffed monkeys. Bar is cash only so hit the ATM before you go. We ordered some drinks hung with some good friends. About 9:30 the place blew up and the bar was packed with people dressed like they were going to the Academy Awards. All of them warming up their voices and getting ready to sing from that point it was on! Heard people sing things from Steppenwolf to a flawless rendition of summer Lovin. performance of the night goes to the quiet, unassuming bartender who had a kick ass voice. Note to self if you ever enter a bathroom in a bar with a chalkboard and write a note be sure to check the spelling before you leave! All in all a quiet night turned into a great time. As not a local and got married here I wanted to sing my heart out to my newly wed wife. Kareoke guy favors locals and women over people trying to create memories and pledge my love and feelings to my wife. Spent over an hour and wifey got to sing her song when we both gave slips at the same time. People sang multiple times before I decided to leave. Kaya bar did not discriminate against me 2 nights before. I recommend going there instead. read more

I never write reviews but this place was so great that I had to drop a quick note. We went here with my wife and her family on Tuesday of this week and had an amazing time! A very friendly bar that seems to have more locals than tourists. We made an effort to talk with the guy running the karaoke night because he was one of the best singers we've ever heard! Key West has a chill vibe and the Monkey Bar a great place to find it. Low key may be an understatement but the drinks are stiff and the bartender is nice. It feels like that perfect neighborhood bar where everyone would know your name. My sense was that it was more populated with locals than tourists so it is a chance to meet the real Key West. The only frustration is that they do not take cash. Come on boys this is almost 2021 (because I am so done with 2020) that you cannot expect us to actually carry cash especially in skinny jeans. read more

So I had to go to the Keys for a day to handle some business. When I arrived around 9pm, some locals greeted me and invited me to join them for karaoke night. Naturally I said yes! We arrived at Bobby's Monkey Bar. A small cozy bar with a side stage for karaoke singers and bands to play. Drinks were very affordable. I had 2 vodkas with a splash of lime juice for less than $16. Sang The Eagles "Hotel California" and in the end had a wonderful time. Staff was very friendly too. My only issues were that their bathrooms are very tight and they only accept cash. So this inconvenience sent me to find an ATM. Thankfully they had one inside. I'll definitely return if I am ever in town again. read more

Chillaxed, welcoming vibe, nightly karaoke, and an eclectic mix of tourists, locals, bachelor/ette groups, and other misfit toys who wash up with each of the countless festivals held on the island. While all of that's great, it's the bartenders who make Bobby's my favorite bar in Key West...Marty, Jeremy. Steven, Vickie, and Deb are seriously the best. Vickie and Deb will even take a turn at karaoke, singing while slinging drinks. It's the perfect way to end the work day, pregame before a "Duval crawl" or spend the evening with a bunch of wild animals singing your favorite (or not so favorite!) tunes. This is a typical divy local bar, cash only and pretty small, but one of the few that has Karaoke most nights with a full stage and everything and any song selection you want. This place is so divy, the air condition must of been broken or something since the place was about 200 degrees and very stuffy/muggy. The bar is so small, you take a group like we had of 15-20, you will take over the place since all it consists of is a pool table and a bar and stage. Just your typical neighborhood bar. We had a lot of fun here with the first shift bartender, Morty? Then when the shift changed we left because the female bartender that came had a for shit attitude.
