Yum! I had pancakes with a side of bacon.... large tasty cakes and the bacon was delicious. my wife had poached eggs with hash browns..... the eggs were cooked perfectly(and a bit oily?), but the hash were deep fried, not a deal breaker but unexpected. our server was pleasant and attentive. condiment containers coulda used a wipe tho. all said, we will go back when in the area. read more

I personally love booby Sox. 50's Diner. I Never Experienced. Bad service from them. maybe I'm not always there. but their food is good. I like the Classics. I personally believe Customers need to be a little nicer and respectful towards the staff If the staff is nice. the customers should be too. they put up with rude, people a lot. Customers should defiantly understand that I don't think it's fair. if the staff is trying to stand up for selves and then be painted as villains. that's, not the staff's fault. Recently went to this cute little diner in hopes that the food would be as good as the decor. Man, was I disappointed. The Burger: - the gray and black patty tasted frozen and looked like one of the cheap, preformed, hockey puck patties you can get really cheap in the frozen section at Walmart. The only thing that masked the frozen taste was the taste of charcoal, because it was burnt, turning the patty into a hard, chewy rock. - the hot dog that was on my burger was seared on the outside, and cold in the middle. A note to the cook: you shouldn't serve a hot dog blue rare. It doesn't taste good. - the veggies that came with my burger tasted like chemicals and were soggy. The lettuce was wilted and rubbery. The Fries: - were waaay too greasy. I mean they were dripping grease. So greasy that they became squishy and floppy. Ick. The Milkshake: - was not mixed properly, and had large chunks of ice in it. For the amount I paid for it, I would have thought I'd get the tin cup alongside my shake to top it up. I didn't. The Service: - some of the worst I have ever had. The diner was NOT busy (there were only two other tables in the joint at the time, AND there was a second server). Our server got our orders wrong, and when we brought it up, she told us that "we should have been more clear". How can someone be more clear when they are already pointing to what they want on the menu and reading it verbatim? When our orders were corrected and we received the bill, she didn't remove the improper order from the bill. We had to ask, and she became VERY annoyed and snippy with us. - both of the waitresses seemed more concerned with their (loud) personal conversation about their weekend plans than their customers or their jobs. At one point, the other server mocked a patron and they laughed about it. Loudly. - our waitress did not check up on anyone until we called her, and she acted as though she was a hobbit being sent on the long journey to Mordor (I. E. She'd roll her eyes and drag her feet). We didn't get a single smile out of her. - Needless to say, due to the poor food and service we didn't tip very well. On our way out the door, we heard our waitress say to the other waitress that we were cheapskates and that "if they're too poor to tip they shouldn't leave their house". I will NEVER go back to a place that obviously doesn't care about providing decent service or food. If you're looking for a good burger in that area, drive an extra 5 minutes and go to Fatburger. Lol I'm not sure what I'm missing or all the good reviews are smoking but here is the break down for real. The waiting staff are awesome. Quick, friendly and accurate. The place is clean and is indeed a cool old school feel. But unless you just want to go and chill sip on one of their many varieties of really good milk shakes and listen to some 50's music. Stay tf away from here for food! The cooks don't gaf about culinary arts or even just whisking up a basic breakfast. They belong in a logging camp or Mexican prison line kitchen. I'm not even going to get into all of the problems. The bottom line is the cooking staff have no heart for serving good food to anyone. It really frustrates me to see people like that running a kitchen there is plenty of other jobs out there. Why Tf are u trying to cook for a living if you have no interest in doing it even mediocre? Excellent old school diner, even the patrons are old school, all the classic American food, burgers, fries, breakfasts with bacon and eggs and hash browns, the decor is well. Done, with all the nostalgic accoutrements, an old coke machine, old time photos on the walls, and and the servers are always happy and nice. read more

This used to be my favorite restaraunt in high school.. but it's gone way down hill. After my latest experience I will never go back. Went with my boyfriend to grab a burger and got there at 9:10. We were told by the server that they only will serve food made in the deep fryer after 9:15. Well if that's the case we still had 5 minutes but they would not make burgers for us still. We left. When I called the next day I was told by the manager that that should not have happened... but did nothing to try and keep my business. If we were at least offered a complimentary meal or something I would have gone back. Nope. Service has gone to shit there. read more

I went out with my father, wife and son. My first time there. It was busy and there was no free space available, but lots of people standing to wait for seating. very disorganized and no one knew who was next or how many were waiting for a table. The food was slow to arrive and was lukewarm. I had the bacon chicken burger. It was so bland and flavorless. I did not finish it. My wife got the beef dip. It was lukewarm as well and if not for the bbq sauce she asked for it would have been flavorless as well. the beef dip broth was basicly brown water. My fathers meal took very long to come out and when it did it was not what he ordered and had to be sent back. The style was vintage, but everything looked dirty and run down. I like what they were trying for but they missed the mark. All in all I was not impressed and I will never go back, It was not a good experience and it would need a major overhaul for me to even think about going back. read more

We like to eat out and prefer to eat locally at independent businesses, not chains. We tried to eat here last weekend. It was busyish but we got a table right away. We observed a really miserable server bringing food to a family who had questions, but the server rudely ignored their questions and stalked off. After about 10 minutes of trying to get service we left. There were staff available to help but they turned around and went into the kitchen when we tried to call for service. We wont be coming back here. There are lots of other restaurants in the area who will be benefiting from our business. read more

We arrived twenty minutes before closing on a Sunday night yet the server couldn't have been more gracious. I ordered the Reuben and I was very pleasantly surprised. It was one of the best Reuben's I have had in a long time. It was prepared in the traditional way - to my mind, the ONLY way a Reuben should be served - grilled (not toasted), on rye bread with sauerkraut, corned beef and Russian dressing. Served up with fries of course. It was too much for me and I had to take half of it home but it was great. And we were so pleasantly surprised about the patient and very pleasant service we received so late in the evening. No rush at all - in fact we had to ask for the bill. The decor was fun too and parking behind was easy. I look forward to going again. read more

We left before ordering, as it just didn't feel like eating here would likely end well. Great service but very slow , almost every table the food was dropped at was also closely followed by an apology for the wait , the portions are massive and unless ur a drunk trucker ur not finishing ur fries !!! After I got back from camp my family and my friends family went there for dinner. I liked the pictures and bench were you sit down( it was red sparkles!!!). I had the tuna melt which was one of the best ones that I've tried so far. The portions are big and the fries are endless. The milkshakes are thick and delicious, but they are humongous. The worst place for breakfast. I had ordered the "real" corned beef and a pancake. Not only did I receive soggier-than-soggy potatoes when I had asked for extra crispy, but my pancake was served raw in the middle. I even had to ask for syrup (which tasted off as well). Service was mediocre at best. For an establishment that has been open for so many years, I'm curious how they survive. Will never return nor recommend. Bobby Sox is great! The staff are friendly and always happy to see you! The portion sizes are big for the amount of money you're spending, and for the most part, everything tastes great! My only negative thought on the food is that the meatloaf, and especially the chili, are a bit bland. They could use more salt. Otherwise it's all good! Oh my god. This place BLOWS. I got Mac and Cheese, when it came the shredded cheddar on top was not melted. "Bad sign" I thought. Took a bite and it was literally ice cold. I had to send it back, wait 20 minutes for a new plate, and they didn't take anything off the bill. Also, this was like a 12 dollar bowl of mac and cheese. That's unfortunately not even the worst part... on a separate occasion, my friend ordered the poutine and found a BOLT in the food. Like, as in an IRON BOLT. When he told the waitress, she looked like she couldn't care less and said very matter of factly that he could either choose to not eat the poutine and have it taken off his bill (mind you, it took only 2 or 3 bites to find said bolt) or get a new one but still pay for it. On an evening not unlike any other, I was driving down Lougheed aimlessly, stewing in anger... Frustrated with life and various more or less unsavory situations that I had found myself in. My frustration in fact had gotten so intense that I very nearly missed that faithful, albeit somewhat gaudy, red neon sign that read "Bobby Sox". This would be only the second time I had driven past the diner, but I knew as soon as the neon registered that it would be my next stop. Fast forward a risky right turn and near collision later, I was parked and walking towards the front door. I stepped inside and, let me tell you, it was like stepping back in time. The only thing missing from the image of a classic diner was the haggard looking middle aged woman named Doris wearing a stained apron and too much makeup, cigarette in her mouth calling everyone "sugar" . Rather then Doris, thankfully, Emma was in her place. Emma is quite the opposite of Doris...she is beautiful, she is young, shes wearing a smile and a quirky green dress. Upon seeing her my stress/frustration levels diminish rapidly, and are replaced by a sense of belonging and calm. We exchange a little small talk while I suck back a strawberry milkshake which, for the record, was absolutely delicious. She skirts around the diner cleaning up this and that, running food to a couple in the corner, all the while taking time to buzz back my way. I ask how her night is going, she asks how mine is going, we talk about dogs, we talk about what flavor of milkshake I should have. At this point you're probably wondering, why is any of this important? and for those of you who are simply looking for a good reason to eat diner food, it really isn't. But for those of you who find themselves trapped in a vortex of mind numbing complexity, and who need just a few precious minutes of escape, you know who you are, this is of the utmost importance. Picture this: You step through the front doors, you sit down, you order a milkshake and take a deep breath...Calm...this is what calm feels like. You remember a time when things weren't so frantic. You remember a time when your cellphone was not there, ringing every damn minute. You even remember a time when your life was yours to create, not the job title you carry. Bobby sox used to be a great little spot to get a good all day breakfast or a awesome hamburger. The food has gone down in quality, but the worst part is the service! On a busy Sunday you need to have waitresses that know what's going on and tend to their customers. Our server ignored our multiple requests to have her come over, forgot about us a few times when she said she would be right back, messed up our order ( and a few others by the sounds of it ) told us we would have to "remind her" to bring us hot sauce, never refilled our coffees the 1.5 hrs we were there and just was all around bad at her job. No smiles, didn't care, and rude to the kitchen staff. While waiting for her to grace us with her presence I overheard the kitchen staff asking her to clear up her order because they couldn't read it. She just sniped back " so what if I can't write or spell." ...Clearly not cut out for the job. When a more experienced server showed up for work she asked if we needed anything since it was pretty clear she wasn't doing anything for us anymore, she also ended up being the one to take our dirty dishes away. Never received our bill either, had to wait up front to pay. Lucky we are honest because we could have walked out of there without her even noticing. read more
