5 stars for the food, but 1 star for customer service. The food is good like the beef stew kaldareta! Pinakbet is alright, I'd rather make my own coz I like more bagoong flavor and squash. Dinuguan is my family's favorite, but it is a bit too watery at this place, but still good. Halo halo is the best! They have good portions too. Now my only annoyance is with customer service. Most of the time they are gossiping and one time messed up my order even though I mentioned it twice. She was too busy gossiping to pay attention. Another time, I wasn't done with my order and she was already serving the next in line. I thought nevermind, forget it. Paid and waited for her to juggle serving people behind me, talking to them and processing my debit card without so much as a thank you. Theirs a variety of dishes to choose from one of my favorite dishes is the beef caldareta, the meat is always soft! Staff is always friendly and welcoming. Worst Halo halo and customer service ever! The woman running the front was incredibly rude to everyone in line not just us. She acted like everyone was a hassle to her for even being there when ever customer was actually being very nice to her. She literally yelled at me to talk louder through the acrylic protection screen and I was asking questions about the menu as a first time customer and was angry I was even asking a question about the options. The people in the back making the food were very nice though. However the halo halo was nothing like any halo halo I have had. Very low quality ingredients and ice cream. The woman behind us asked the woman for an extra spoon and the woman snapped back, " WHAT FOR!" And the customer kindly replied, "Um for my daughter." After coming here for an office boba-run (definitely recommend halo-halo!), I came back to try their food. I'm not very familiar with Filipino food, but it's obvious this is some home-cooked comforting goodness. They have some staples, like pork adobo, and rotating dishes. My favorite was a tomato-based pork dish (unsure of the name). The service is very friendly and they are happy to describe the different dishes. It's a great place to stop in for take-out if you need a satisfying home-cooked dinner. I'll definitely be back to try more food! read more

As a recent transplant to the PNW from the Bay Area, I have been having massive cravings for Filipino food. Don't be fooled by the name because their menu extends far more than what's lit up on the front door. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, they'll make you feel like family. If I didn't know better, I was at my aunties house enjoy a meal. The menu changes daily other than their five main dishes. Best authentic Filipino food in Oregon! The food style is "build your own" with the option of choosing how many sides you want. I recommend the Dinuguan and the mungo beans with white rice. We came her for halo-halo only. We visited this place based on local recommendations. This is a mom and pop Filipino restaurant that serves a variety of Filipino foods. They sell halo-halo and a variety of boba drinks. Our halo2 was great with a generous amount of the usual halo2 fixings. The addition of lychee was unusual and unexpected but refreshing. The place isnt fancy but is very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The halo2 was great. We would like to come back to try their Filipino cuisine. We'll be back. read more

Before I write my review for this place, let me give you a tip so you don't do the same thing I did - coming from Beaverton area on Main St, NE 43rd Ave is 0.1 mile from the intersection with Brookwood Pkwy. So even though the right lane merges, stay on the right lane so you can turn into 43rd Ave. (I stayed on the left lane and pulled the very last second "get out of my way" right turn...) Ok, now the review: The gal at the counter was super nice. Only food I recognized was pork adobo so I fessed up that I didn't know what I was looking at and she explained every single dish they had. So at her recommendations, I had goat stew (google tells me it's Kaldereta, but I'm just guessing that's the name) and Sisig for the first time. I was very pleasantly surprised how good they are (I'd never had goat before) and how much I liked them instantly. If you're clueless like I am, I googled Sisig and it's "...parts of pig head and liver...", but Boba's sisig was just pork meat - ever so slightly citrus-y and porky goodness. I also liked their pork adobo. I'm taking a star off just because I'm so used to any Filipino restaurant always having pancit and lumpia - Boba didn't have either. In addition, I found out they have lechon kawali only on Wed - no pancit, lumpia or lechon on weekend? Grumbles... anyway, so now I'm anxious to come back for lechon, my very fav Filipino dish. read more

Now here is the best boba spot in town! Boba is made fresh, and is warm from the pot. They offer a few fresh fruit smoothies, which are the way to go. Other places use nondairy powder mixes that just don't hit the spot. Fresh avocado with brown sugar boba is by far my favorite blend! I haven't (yet) sampled their hot foods, but it is clear that their small menu offerings are a neighborhood favorite. I have waited in line for a long while as someone ahead of me orders a literal feast. The food seems fairly fresh, but the heat lamps sometimes dry out the food in the case. It's a smaller restaurant, and it tends to be hot and humid from the food cooking. But they also have some shelf stable snacks from The Philippines. The chocolate pillows taste pretty much like cereal. Good road trip fare! There are 2, maybe 3 employees that I have seen during my visits. While the staff size is small, they are constantly busy. By the time I get to the counter, I can tell that they're a bit harried, but I still get good service, and they seem sincere when they thank me for coming in. The only thing that hasn't ever sat right with me is once when I was waiting to place my order while the employee took a phone call, during which she rolled her eyes a few times, looked at me and made the "blah blah blah" sign with her hand, and very clearly did not want to engage the customer on the line, who was curious about the menu and wanted to give enough notice for an order. That kind of behavior might be more appropriate in the back room, but definitely not flaunting a disrespect for someone who is eager to patronize their business in front of another customer. read more

I wanted to love this place because Filipino food in PDX is surprisingly hard to find. Most of the food was great, however the lumpia was lacking. The proportion of wrapper versus filling was not the lumpia that I'm used. Not enough filling and too much wrapper. For that I wish I could only deduct half a star. I'm more critical because I've had lumpia thousands of times and it's a wonderful Filipino dish. And I really wanted it to be good. Especially for people who travel all the way to Hillsboro to try Filipino food for the first time or to catch a glimpse of their childhood. Lumpia is such a Filipino staple and I think they can improve a smidge. With that said, I can see myself coming here again. The kare kare was stupendous. The sisig was good. The mounds of rice was plentiful. The langonisa was tasteful. My friend got the dinuguan, sisig and one other dish I forgot to the name of. But she liked them a lot. The travel time was 30 minutes or so from SE PDX on a saturday. The staff was busy and professional and nice. The restaurant itself is small with minimal seating. Maybe 5 or 6 tables total? I went there for some boba because that's the thing I normally get from they're business but when I went there I told them I wanted a Fruit Smoothie and she was making the boba, when I got the boba it was a Fruit Tea boba and I told them that it was a Fruit Smoothie but she said that I said "Fruit tea" but my family even heard that I said a Fruit Smoothie and then she proceeds to be rude about it show me the paper she wrote on and say that I messed up and said it was a "Fruit Tea" and not a Fruit Smoothie and says in a rude tone and I quote "Next time, say Fruit Smoothie not Fruit tea" when I clearly said Fruit Smoothie, I'm not coming back here after this experience because the amount of disrespect that she gave to me and getting the order wrong and not even trying to make the order right or be nicer about what happened never coming here again. read more

This spot is right next to my vet and I can't help but swing in for a milk tea whenever we have an appointment. Sweet and creamy it really hits the spot. They also have Halo Halo, such a huge sweet confection I like to get one to split. It can be very filling which is nice for a desert. The hot bar has all kinds of goodies. My favorite thing to get is the soup. It is so hearty, warm, and filling perfect for a cold gray winter day. The people that work there have always been very nice whenever I have visited. This little hole-in-the-wall restaurant is very convenient to me, so I thought I would try it, mostly based on the reviews. Inside was relatively clean. I have to say the food is very tasty. I went late (about 30 minutes before they closed) and so a lot of what they offer was gone. However, what I did try was very good and the portions were very generous - fed me for three meals. The reason for just 3 stars is because the lady behind the counter tried to dissuade me from ordering ANYTHING. She said I probably wouldn't like what she had to offer - maybe because I'm not Filipino or whatever, but it was off-putting to say the least. However, it was late and I was hungry, so I ordered. The Boba tea was delicious! She was out of tapioca, so she gave me the lychee fruit in the tea and it was an instant favorite. Greasy food here if you like. I know it's adobo but other items are extremely greasy as well. That's not for no star review, the cheap foam containers are unbelievable. We don't do to-go containers anyways, ordered "for here" yet all food containers and even water cup are disgusting foam. Are they really doing this to the planet- yes!
