Milk tea that tasted like milk and sugar.
    Yan W.

My parents asked me what I wanted to drink because they were in that area. We know someone who comes here often and love their drinks so we decided to try. We ordered milk tea. Problem: you can't change the sweetness. That is a big problem, especially so many boba stores can adjust, this was not a good start. When I got it, it was so so so so sweet. It tasted like milk with sugar. Barely any tea flavor. This was the most bland and expensive sugar milk drink. It was also $6. More expensive than other boba places. Very disappointed. I guess their fruity drinks have more compliments but I'm going to pass on the drinks since you can't adjust it.

Diniguan, chicken adobo, kalderate, longanisa , or rice, banana lumpia.

I told my buddy from work that I miss Filipino food as this is what I ate growing up. He mentioned that boba Licious has some of his favorite food that he has found so far in Oregon. I tried it today and it was a great experience! Upon entering, everyone greeted and was so kind. We chatted about various things including where in the Philippines that my mother was from. It was a sweet and kind interaction and something that made my day. The food was what I was hoping for! The chicken adobo (and pork adobo that my friend ordered) was great! The longanisa was delicious and reminded me of home. The diniguan honestly was great as well which surprised me since I was not always the biggest fan of it but was craving it today. The Kaldereta was nice and thick and the beef really tender. The banana lumpia also tasted so good and was not overly sweet! Though one felt slightly burnt but still tasted really good! Overall, I enjoyed and loved my meal. I have been missing Filipino food and was happy to have been told about this place!!

    Not a traditional halo halo
    Karen W.

This 2 stars was rated mainly for halo halo. I have not ordered anything else from this restaurant. But based on halo halo itself, I won't go back to this restaurant. First of all, the service was friendly enough and the restaurant seems clean. When I ordered halo halo at other restaurants, I had to wait at least 10 minutes for them to make it. I got my halo halo within 15 seconds which was odd. When I ate it, I understood the reason. This halo halo is far from authentic. And it wasn't even that tasty. I was very disappointed. I didn't get any the standard traditional toppings in the halo halo. The flavor was blend. And the toppings were like from a canned fruits. There was a small amount of taro ice cream. If you want a good halo halo, you will be disappointed.

walked past by here because we were eating next door at Good Taste and really glad we found this gem. Halo halo and ube smoothie highly recommend if you're an ube fan. Smoothie comes with toppings (i did both boba and jelly and it's Lychee jelly). Both were priced a very good deal and largest serving i've seen compared to most bubble tea places. 10/10 recommend coming. we didn't get to try their filipino food take out, will come back again!

Lechon kawali with vinegar/chili dipping sauce. Good!

One of my patients told me about this place. We have been looking for some decent Filipino food (we were disappointed with a couple of places) and have had several people recommend this place. It's in a small building but it does have plenty of parking. When we went inside we were greeted right away. I was happy to see they had one of my favorites, Lechon Kewali sitting under the heat lamp, but the heat lamp only kept the temperature at a tepid rate and I wished it was warmer. They also have the vinegar dipping sauce with the chili peppers which was great as well. My other half got the pork guissantes and chicken adobo which he said was pretty good. It looked a little different than the ones we ate back in Hawaii but I guess mainland style is a little different. We also got a huge plateful of steamed rice and it was so good with the dishes we got. Price was ok, starting at $10 for a one choice plate. Our only disappointment was that they were sold out of banana lumpia. Overall I would come here again as this place has the only decent Lechon so far. The people who work here were really sweet.

Good menu for Boba. Friendly staff. I enjoyed visiting this hole in wall kind of boba place. The staff were super welcoming and friendly. They allowed us to combine two flavors in the boba. I ordered boba milk tea with mango and pineapple. They have default sugar and ice levels. If you want it customized, do check with them. I felt I could not taste either the mango or pineapple flavors in my tea. I think it could have been the level of sweetness that masked the flavors. They also had some food options. I saw people collecting their catering order for food from here while waiting for my order. Though I did not try their food, seems to be quite popular. They also have some unique snack options near checkout. We got a couple of corn snacks and they tasted good. It's a nice place. But let them know your level of sweetness so they can adjust it. I felt their default was very sweet for me. I'd recommend visiting this place for both their boba and food.

    2-item, pinakbet and longanisa w/rice

When I am in their neighborhood, I try to stop by this place, and I remember, throughout the pandemic, they served their community. I enjoy their longanisa (comfort food with rice :), pinakbet, adobo chicken/ pork, and also their refreshing drinks. The people working here are so nice.

Delicious Filipino food! Caldereta is our favorite, and my husbands is dinuguan and our kids love the longonisa. sadly they don't have lechon everyday I believe it's Wednesdays and Sundays but you might want to call to make sure. Their prices are reasonable.

Awesome customer service. Very friendly staff and authentic Filipino food. The food is already ready and you get what you see. There were some unfamiliar dishes but I was not offered a sample and was not sure if I could ask. The sausage was really good! Very sweet flavor but only got two pieces for the entree. The chicken adobo felt kinda oily so I wasn't a huge fan. Also it is too bad they don't offer more in the combo other than white rice. Positives: Shanghai lumpia and sausage. Warm customer service family feel. Not sure if I'm in a huge rush to go back for the food.

Anything vege to eat there at all?

I think it depends on the day. Menu is heavy on the meat. If you are specifically looking for vegetarian, I would go elsewhere...to a place with a menu that carves out vegetarian options.

Upon the first bite, everything was good! We got the lumpia plates and the pineapple kicker hamburger, and they came in generous portion. Everything was crunchy and served hot, they were enjoyable. Then we started noticing things are a bit different when I bit into the pancit. It's quite... sour! Then I noticed my lumpia tasted quite dry as well. That's when my boyfriend said he wished his burger buns were less soggy. We put more thoughts into this meal, and came up with this conclusion: we understand it's "fusion food", but the thing I like about Filipino food, is it's fatty and delicious. So when food tasted dry-ish and sour, I got confused! I might try some other items on their menu later, fingers crossed!!

The lumpia is nice and crisp, the shanghai version is kind of like potsticker filling - filled with seasoned ground pork. However, they looked a bit burnt and had a stale flavor on the crispy skin. This was particularly evident in their fries - oddly dark, oily and a strange flavor. It may be due to old frying oil. Brisket is pretty good, nice seasonings. Rice that comes with it is overcooked mush though. Pick your sides wisely! I think this will be a pass for us in the future.

Well, after finally getting a chance to browse all the pods, I found Dad's chicken, but nothing was grillin'. So I came back here to Pares PDX Express instead. Checked out the side menu, checked out the prices, and out comes a brutha from anotha mutha! Welcomes me, so I asked my pare "What's good?" He said, "Everything!" smh, "Damn!" A good sign :(but not a good sign for me healthwise:) haha! I asked how long he's been open, and he said, "Since September." Still fresh and new to me, so my yelpie duty was to support my locals. Here's what I ordered: Drawn to the Crispy Kare-Kare ($15), this caught my eyes! (Optional read) Typically, the Filipino kare-kare meat used is with cuts of chuck steak and boney beef neck. Some like using pork hocks. Sometimes kare-kare will have beef tripe added. But personally for me, I love my mom's version using oxtail. I don't like the neck, I don't need tripe, it's gotta be OXTAIL!!! Besides, it's all about the stew and the saucy peanut buttery flavor. About Pares PDX kare-kare version... I saw "Crispy" and knew this was referring to either crispy pata or lechon kawali (aka deep fried pork belly with skin). They serve their kare-kare with crispy pork belly, bok choy, long string beans, and eggplant. The stew of peanut sauce was drizzled on top. With the home-made shrimp bagoong (fried shrimp paste) in between. I would have stayed outside on the patio tables, but it was going to rain. So I rushed home, and mmm mmm mmm the pieces were still nice and crispy indeed! I haven't had pork belly in so long that I was in heaven, not worrying if I needed to go to the hospital afterwards lol. You can have the dish with plain rice or garlic rice. I chose the garlic rice, which is almost a given. A bit of more information: ~ They've got a QR code to view the menu and/or place an order. ~ Majority or nearly all of the dishes were $15 average. ~ To feed your eyes, there are pics of the dishes on the side of the truck. ~ Service was pleasant and fast. Can't say I'll ever order what I can make myself, like adobo, sisig, pinoy style spaghetti, or lumpia, but I will definitely be back to try their version of pansit palabok, laing, dinuguan, and turon. I'll even try their "halo halo" next time! The Filipino authenticity, kinda like mom's style is here! Come check them out!

Multiple times now, I have placed an order, watched the status change to "Confirmed" and even "Preparing," only for the restaurant or their system to cancel the order abruptly after the Dasher is already assigned or on their way. This is not just a minor inconvenience; it completely wastes time and effort planning a meal. A major contributing factor is that they frequently forget to close and update their DoorDash channel, showing they are available for online ordering when they are not. It gives the false hope that the food is on its way, only to be cancelled last minute, forcing a scramble to find dinner/lunch elsewhere. The management needs to seriously address their online order process, communication with delivery platforms, and their kitchen capacity. If you cannot fulfill an order, it should be rejected immediately, not 30-40 minutes after confirmation. Until this issue is fixed, I cannot recommend ordering from here, especially for delivery. It's too unreliable to depend on.

Extremely Unprofessional Behavior at the Poke Counter…read more Today my friend and I drove to Uwajimaya specifically to buy fresh poke, which we usually enjoy here. When we arrived at the poke bowl service counter, we were standing in front of the menu screens trying to decide what to order. We were not in line yet, because we were still looking at the options and deciding. We had only been standing there for less than three minutes. At the time, there was an Asian male employee helping another customer. After that customer finished ordering, another male employee (tall with long hair) gestured toward me and asked if I was ready to order. I said, "Can I get a mini bowl please?" Instead of confirming my order, he immediately asked whether my friend wanted the same thing. My friend was still deciding and had not said she was ordering yet, so I politely replied that she wasn't sure yet, but I was ready to order mine. The employee then shook his head and slammed the rice container, which completely surprised me. The gesture and attitude felt very disrespectful and unnecessarily aggressive toward a customer. For context, I work in the food service industry myself, so I understand that things can get busy. However, at that moment there were no other customers waiting behind us, so the pressure and frustration displayed by this employee felt very inappropriate. Because of how uncomfortable the interaction felt, I told him that it was okay and that I would not order anymore. My friend also said it was okay and that we didn't want anything anymore. Instead of simply letting us go, the employee shouted loudly across the counter, saying "Come back, come back! What do you want? Come back!" while waving his hand at us as if we had to beg for him to serve us. We had done nothing wrong--we were simply looking at the menu and politely asked for a mini bowl. The experience left us feeling confused, pressured, and honestly quite uncomfortable. We later reported the incident to the customer service counter. The female employee there (wearing glasses) listened and said she would forward the report to management. I have visited Uwajimaya many times and usually enjoy shopping here, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. I hope management addresses this situation and reminds staff that basic courtesy and patience are essential in customer service. After the incident, we decided not to order poke and only purchased a bottled tea before leaving. We ended up going to another Japanese restaurant nearby for food instead. I'm sharing this experience not to attack the business, but to provide honest feedback. Uwajimaya has always been a place we enjoy visiting, and we would be happy to come back in the future--once we feel confident that customers will not be treated this way again by this particular employee.
