My brother and i went to the van wert location yesterday, Sept. 6th, 2026. We have been there many times before. Yesterdays visit was just awful! First of all we waited and waited for a server to come. Our server waited on other tables before waiting on us. Once we placed our orders ( i ordered two eggs, toast and bacon and my brother ordered pancakes with banana pudding etc.) A pretty simple and quick order. Forty some minutes later, we still did not have our food, let a lone a glass of milk for my brother. Finally our server came to our table and told us that our food had not even been started. He had no idea as to where my slip for my order was and that my brother's order was not yet started. My brother has Parkinson's, and it is important to keep his food routine on a timely schedule. We were told that we could leave, no charge for us as we did not get out food. We left without getting any food or bring compensated for our time and long wait. I am really upset that we were treated so badly. I gave my server my name and phone number, expecting a written apology along with a coupon for another dinner. Well!! believe the negative reviews!! I gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and went there for dinner. Ugh! Was seated asap. Got our drinks asap. But! We waited for 45 min, our food wasn't coming. Usually salad comes first before the meal. We waited. Nothing! Finally the young guy comes over; says he got distracted and forgot to put our order in. He kept walking past us to serve other customers. How did he not see us? He told us he is going to submit our order now. To wait another 40 minutes for our food? Heck no! We got up and walked out. A lady was there that's asked us how we're doing but she seemed to be a front lady so we didn't ask her any questions. This place is a joke. The place wasn't busy, busy. That young guy seems lazy too. He was snapping at the front lady too. He's telling her I don't need anymore people, seat them elsewhere. Saying that, in front of people coming in. What manager is gonna allow someone like that; to serve people. That's if he is going to serve them. Horrible service!! Go elsewhere. I moved to Van Wert (VW) late last year. I used to frequent Bob Evans weekly when i lived on the east coast. I never saw one during my time in SC so I was happy to see there was one in town. However, I avoided this one due to reviews. I ate at the one in Lima whenever I was there and enjoyed it. I finally decided to try the VW location today. Besides it being freezing cold inside (just like Lima) it was Excellent! I was seated promptly. My waitress showed up within 2 min and got my order. Both ladies were very friendly. My food came out within 10 min PIPING HOT! It was all cooked to my request. She checked on me a couple of times and brought my check when I looked done. Totally opposite of most of these reviews! So if you haven't been (lately) give it a shot. I'll try it again next month and see if I have the same experience... read more

I am new to the area and I am still trying find places to hang out and eat. I came here a while back with my family. We wanted to eat at a sit down restaurant and it's located relatively close to where I work. I have never eaten at a Bob Evans before but it reminds me a lot of a Denny's or an IHOP. It was cold the night we came... think it was maybe 20 without taking into account the wind chill. We sat down and started looking at the menu... huge menu and it would be huge even taking into account they serve breakfast and dinner. I am always afraid of restaurants that have too many choices on their menu... simply it's easier to be an expert when you have a smaller menu. I noticed they served soups and chili. It was a cold night so my mother ordered chicken soup and and I ordered chili. My brother, the contrarian, got a Caesar salad. The chili wasn't bad, but it was rather watery and not as flavorful as I prefer. I like my chili to be thick, hot and spicy. My brother did like the salad. We all ordered some home style fried chicken tenders, with corn, fries and honey mustard. My brother got baked potato, though. The chicken was rather good, the sides were pretty standard. For dessert, my mother got the double-crust apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. My brother and I got both some chocolate sundaes. The sundae was my favorite part of the meal. I know it's crazy that I ordered ice cream on such a cold night, but I guess I am starting to get used to the cold. Anyway, it wasn't a bad experience. I probably will be back eventually. I ordered a carryout order of two cups of chilli and one family size chilli. I arrived at the designated pick up time and was promptly handed a sack and headed out the door. Before leaving, I noticed that the sack seemed very light so I looked to find the two small cups, but no family size chilli. The place was busy (lunch time) and the poor lone girl at the cash register had several people waiting to pay their bill, and she was also seating the new customers coming in, answering the phone, as well as taking care of the carry-out orders. After waiting at least 10 minutes, she apologized and said she would get my missing chilli as soon as possible. After waiting another 5 minutes, she informed me that they were out of chilli and were making more. A full 30 minutes after I was supposed to pick up my order, I finally left for home with my order. However, when I opened the two cups of chilli, one of them was less than half full. Apparently, they had run out, and rather than make more, they just gave me a half of a cup, and of course charged me the full price. I have had slow service at this location before, and they always seem to be understaffed. However, that doesn't excuse trying to get away with giving me a cup and a half of chilli instead of two cups and a family size, and charging me the full price! read more

Hello fellow travelers! We stopped at this particular Bob Evans because when traveling with kids, sometimes this type of restaurant works for everybody. It especially works when there is a really good ice cream shop up the street :-). Where I live in Massachusetts, it is similar to what Big Boy used to be without the cool salad bar, maybe more like a Bickfords (also closed!) or Denny's. It is pretty standard fare food, but I always like the option to have breakfast at dinner. Everybody was happy with their meals, no surprises. One of the main reasons for three stars versus four is that this particular location was really grubby. When you see messy place that is intended for patrons to look at,you wonder what the shape of the kitchen is that is preparing your food, am I right? There was food all over the floor, and the seat I was sitting in had a hole the size of a Westfield pothole, and that is just straight up enormous people. I went out to the car to get something to cover it so I could sit on the seat. There were four of us so somebody was sitting there. My buddy who was on the trip with us gave it five stars for having a good grilled cheese and fries though. There is always that. :-) read more

Manager rebecca was the most unprofessional and rudd person I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with in the service industry. She was rude and disrespectful and hung up on me multiple times when all I was trying to do was contact an employee (who is the mother of my childern) about an emergency with our son. I do not recommend supporting this establishment as long as this "Manager" named rebecca (who refused to give me her last name) is still there. read more

we had business to tend to in van wert ohio we were hungry so we decided to stop there and grab some lunch we ordered a few things . turkey dinner with stuffing mashed potatoes . well everything was old greasy our carrots were missing rolls were hard. we took it back in and asked for the manager on duty well she was very young and rude told her the problem but she said she would fix it all they done was warmed it up!!! we wont be back very disappointed.... What's up with Bob Evan's? No coffee in the coffee, watered down orange juice, and gravy not the same. I have found this to be the same in several Bob's in Ohio. New corporate ownership? We are so disappointed in our local restaurant. Our waitress was running all over the place taking care of tables all over the place. When she finally took our order, we sat there 54 min and no food. Our daughter cornered the night manager and he said he'd check on our order. After awhile our waitress brought out our food. The place just isnt what it was and not like other Bob Evans we eat at. Well, I can say that Bob Evans has definitely moved away from being your home town family oriented restaurant. Anymore it's simply a franchise. Therfore your interests are no longer important to them. They over charge you for undersized meals, like say a breakfast dish is $12.00. But it barely fills you up so you have to buy another. I remember when Blueberry Hill was in town, for twelve bucks there you got about four pounds of food. AND it was really good qaulity. That was a hometown restaurant. The good at Bob Evans is clearly frozen BS. Fresh food is where it is at. I'd rather not eat there anymore. Hopefully another place like blueberry hill comes to town. read more

I like Bob Evans' food, I've been to about 5 of them, all located in different areas. This particular restaurant however gets orders wrong frequently and tends to burn the food. This mainly happens when I order it as takeout (haven't had a lot of issues dining-in). Called and complained several times, nothing ever changes. Once in a great while, they get things right and I have a pleasant experience, but the odds of that happening are lower than the odds of them messing up my order, forgetting something, or burning my food... so not worth it. read more

i was in bob evans in van wert om tuesday 10-17-17 around 8:00, it seemed as they were more interested in closing the store than waiting on me and my wife. she had a bacon and cheese omlet, lots of onion, no cheese, they must have put the cheese away for the night. i had the worst meatloaf possable, when i asked for green beans in replacement of carrots, the answer was no! my wife said they look c=good, i'll eat them. the carrots pictured and described wewr not delivered, some warmmed up in the microwave oven is what we got, not worth eating. good mashed potatoes and gravy, the rools was good too, i have been to other be and always good. i will drive a little farther next time. chris meyer, pandora ohio read more
