Disappointing really. This was one of the last restaurants I ate in before the whole Covid situation happened. I heard a lot of good things... that this place was a locals hangout. Usually when that's the case, it's a great place to eat. Slow service... super slow service. Place is kinda dark for me. The food was bland and lack luster. I had the daily special on a Sunday which was Country Fried Steak with mashed potatoes and peppered white gravy. Gravy was the only thing with taste in the meal and unfortunate not enough was given. Are you a salad bar lover? Then you would like this place. Are you a soft serve ice cream bar lover? Then you would like this place. Looking for a really good hot bar? May want to go elsewhere. I came here with a group of five on a Friday night. They had a seafood hot bar. By seafood, I mean fried fish, fried shrimp, fried clam strips, and fried crab cakes. Then there was fried chicken, stuffed peppers, sweet &a sour chicken, hot veggies, and ribs. Maybe more but I can't remember. The food on the hot bar was ok. Nothing really stood out to me. However, their salad bar had a lot of selection. Iceberg lettuce or a nice mix of greens. Lots of toppings from hard boiled eggs to ham to broccoli to cheese. Three different pasta salads to choose from. Jello, puddings, and fruits. To end the meal, their soft serve ice cream bar was impressive. Vanilla, chocolate, or twist with at least 12 different toppings to utilize (I'm sure there was more than 12). I was in ice cream bar heaven! Service was fine and the place was busy. It was also super hot in the restaurant. All of us at the table had red cheeks from the temperature inside. If I wanted a salad and ice cream bar, I'd come again. Well my journey to find food for the night lands me at the Orchard Tree. All the other places I went to were closed for the night. And it was only 7! Unassuming on the outside, inside one was able to seat oneself. Within 5 minutes water was brought out and the took my order. I decided to try the steak menu and got the "OTOT" 3 3-oz tender steak filets with choice of two sides and Texas toast. The menu includes sandwiches, homestyle items, breakfast items, and pie, for fairly standard prices. Inside the atmosphere is casual and family friendly. The customers tended to be older, I did not spy many under 50. There is a prominent salad and soup bar on the left, with fairly good selection. There is plenty of seating available. The macaroni salad came out quickly, it was pretty average, kinda weird sour tasting. The steak filets came out done as I requested, and had surprisingly good flavor. It didn't even need A1 sauce, good age, good char. The mashed potatoes were as expected. Service was friendly, I had no complaints. Restaurant was clean as far as I can tell. I don't really know the history of the owners or the past performance, but it was A-ok when I was there. It looks like they're revamping the menu over the next couple of months. read more

Advertised buffet on Saturday at 4 pm... Buffet had no chicken on buffet, as we were told it would.. Some kind of rubber chicken nuggets were there, and were gross... Mens toilet was plugged, and the whole place had an i dont care attitude.... Drive a few miles and go somewhere else read more

Went for the morning buffet on a Sunday, small crowd, seated myself. Buffet wasn't bad, normal breakfast items available. Eggs as well as hash browns were pretty bland but considering it was a buffet it was pretty standard. My issue was the sign outside advertised breakfast buffet for $6.99. My bill that was delivered said $7.49. When asking cashier her comment was "oh we've been meaning to change that sign forever, it's $7.49". I wasn't about to argue and paid the bill. Normally, places will honor their advertisement even in error. I would have rated 4 stars but the advertisement rubbed me the wrong way* read more

Not a bad family restaurant. Most of the time the buffet bar is pretty good. Depending on what time of day or what day it is, always a good variety. Let them know if you don't like something they will make sure your okay with your food. They even have sweet potato fries! read more

Stoped in for a business lunch in recommendation of my customer. Opted for the buffet. 4 soups, including French onion, minestrone and chophouse. The chophouse was my favorite- cream base with potatoes and bacon. Delicious. Full usual salad bar and a hot bar including meatballs and a great homemade lasagna. Give it a shot! read more

Great family restaurant. Hand-breaded fish, hand formed burgers, hand-breaded fried pickles. Locally made pies. Food was well prepared and hot. Also have a Sunday brunch buffet that had pot roast, fried chicken, and mashed potatoes in addition to normal breakfast stuff. Friendly staff. Just a nice family restaurant. Food is usually very good but not spectacular. Service is usually very friendly and fast. Had an excellent cream pie last week. We eat breakfast after church once or twice a month. Omelets are great and home fries are always just right amount of crispness. read more

I expected better. Usually family restaurants in small towns serve good food at a fair price. Well they hit one of the two. The food was terrible. I was there about 6:00 pm on a Friday. The clientele was on the elderly side and it looked like the dinner meal was winding down. The restaurant was not appealing on the inside and looked like it needed a facelift. I had seat yourself seating. I did and the waitress came quickly and she was friendly. The menu was diverse and they offered a buffet. I elected to have the special, Swiss Steak and decaf. The meal came almost instantly. And it looked like they scraped the bottom of the pan to get the items. Potatoes were good. The dressing was black on the bottom and greasy. The steak appeared to be uncooked. It was red and looked raw. I brought it to the waitresses attention and she called someone else and she declared it done and very edible. I disagreed and declined it and ordered a fish sandwich. It came quickly and was good. I believe I got there at the end of the day and meal, and got the dregs. Because of this I can't recommend this restaurant. read more

My husband and I were driving through town on a rainy Tuesday night, and we were hungry for some supper. We noticed quite a few cars at the Orchard Tree and pulled in to give it a try. The food is diner fare. There were loads of choices on the menu from liver & onions, to fried foods, to breakfast any time. We asked our cheerful waitress for her favorite entrees and she steered us to the salmon patty or the lasagna. We both got the lasagna, which covered the whole plate. It was ok, but not the best I've ever had. With such big portions, you might not have room for dessert, but then you would be missing the best part -- the PIE! This place makes wonderful, homemade pies -- fruit pies, cream pies, crumb topped pies....there must have been a dozen to choose from when we were there. We got two slices to go -- lemon meringue and raspberry. Both were really good. read more
