    Peppermint hot chocolate sundae

We go to Dietsch for ice cream a couple times a month and it truly is the best! They always have fun seasonal flavors that we love trying!! (Cornbread, souther apple pie, pistachio, pumpkin, maple bacon- etc). But the regular menu ice creams are just as delicious! My favorite regular is the Strawberry cheese cake ice cream! I highly recommend getting a banana split because you can choose three flavors of ice cream and it's big enough for two or three people to share! Don't forget to take home some delicious chocolate covered pretzels!! The sundae in the photo was a peppermint hot chocolate sundae!

Dietsch is a Findlay Legacy. One of the last small town chocolate and ice cream counters. The service is friendly and fast. The interior is fake retro, soda fountain, coolness. Stop by if you're in town for a sweet treat.

Dating advice: Find yourself someone who would drive two hours (RT) just to surprise you with the best chocolate truffles in the state of Ohio! The presentation of the box alone was impressive! Thank you, Dietsch Brothers for your existence!!!

Location: 400 West Main Cross Street, Findlay Ohio Website: https://dietschs.com Hours: see website Shop: see website Parking: adjacent lot with free parking I don't care if you're full. If you are driving through Findlay, Ohio and one of the two locations is open - you need to add this stop to your drive. Established in the 1930's selling special recipe candy, you can still buy confections in gift boxes or by the pound or piece. Caramels, pretzels, or toffee - among many varieties in both milk and dark chocolate. What drew our road trip into the store was the ice cream. Hand-dipped to order, single, double, or triple scoops are offered in a dish, cake cone, or sugar cone. Waffle cones also available for a small charge. There were more than 20 flavors to choose from so choose wisely. My choice was maple nut and butter pecan. Absolutely perfect ice cream.

Oh. My. Goodness. If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place! I have heard so many things about this place but haven't been able to go. I tried the Bridge to Mackinac Island Fudge ice cream and was in heaven the whole time I ate it. I cannot wait until I get to try another flavor here. This is the place to get dessert hands down!

All the chocolates and candies were wonderful. Though a bit pricey, the price is worth the quality.

Coons Candy - First Visit…read more Let's go ahead and name what some of us have probably thought: pulling up to a place called Coons Candy comes with hesitation -- especially as a Black customer. It's an unspoken (and sometimes spoken) moment of pause, wondering what kind of experience you're walking into. But curiosity -- and a soft spot for old-school sweets -- led us to check it out. To my surprise, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with friendly smiles and offered samples of fudge, toffee, and a few other homemade treats. That immediately softened the moment and brought on a bit of nostalgia -- felt like walking into one of those general stores my MawMaw would take me to, or a Cracker Barrel stop on a road trip. The store itself is exactly what you'd expect from a small-town candy shop: shelves packed with retro candies, novelty drinks, locally made honey and syrups, quirky gifts, and yes -- edible bugs. It's cozy and cluttered in a fun, old-school way. We left with: * Boba Vida popping pearls (dark cherry) * Sugar Daddy, Victory sticks, Stallion candy smokes, raspberry & green apple sticks * Locally made honey * A mix of glass-bottle sodas: * Sioux City Ginger Beer + Prickly Pear * Reading Draft Honey Cream * Drive-In Cherry Limeade * Nehi Peach * Ginger Strawberry tea * Hot & Spicy Ginger Beer This is definitely a place for folks who love that nostalgic candy-store vibe and don't mind digging through shelves of old favorites and funky surprises. ‍ Final take: It was a mixed bag. The selection was fun and the staff made us feel welcome. But the name? It sticks -- and not in a sweet way. That hesitation doesn't go away entirely, and I'd understand if someone else passed on the visit for that reason alone. I'm glad I saw it for myself. Would I go back? Maybe. Would I recommend it? Depends who's asking.

Even though she said they were still replenishing their abundant chocolate stock after Valentine's Day, I still had a remarkable selection of delicious chocolates to choose from. I selected a few, almost all dark chocolate as it is an absolute favorite - sea salted caramel, a dark chocolate champagne truffle, peanut butter something amazing, sugar cookie truffle (quite sweet, but true to flavor) and a few delicious others. Had I had the time, I would have stopped to take some for my trek back to Michigan. I have to say though, the feather in Coco Beans' hat, I am not a "sweets" person. I like chocolate, but sometimes find things far too sweet and they make my teeth hurt - namely, fudge. I have found fudge that doesn't make my teeth hurt! It was the perfect balance of flavor and sweet....and some caramel, and I can't complain about that! Only with I lived closer!

Most of the people who work there are some of the nicest people I've met. I usually stop in to grab the cheese pizza pretzels, the cereal marshmallows, and something from the chocolate aisle. I will tell you that one of the most impressive things about Old Thyme Pantry is that it has an extensive candy section... two aisles worth. Moreover, the candy isn't the factory made stuff... that said the candy can be a little hit or miss. My mother did not like the sugar wafers for instance and i disliked the sea salt fudge. Yet at the same time, the orange slices were very good and the chocolate covered raisins were to die for (def better than Raisinettes!). The store also sells soup mixes, local honey, jams, jelly's and fresh meat. They also have a Deli. I bought some Deli items and again hit or miss... some of the items i didn't like but their was this chicken one that was delish. Cool store, one that looks to be owned by mennonite/amish? Definitely would be willing to give it a second try in the future... and one you should try as well.
