Surprisingly really good food. This is not a place I would normally eat but we were on town for a funeral and this was a favorite of the deceased. I had the turkey sandwich. It was tasty and fresh. Normally our place to go for an inexpensive good meal!!! This time my wife's retired folks 7.99 country fried steak dinner was upgraded by the waitress to 12.99. Without asking. It was still good but we had to take it home and it met the garbage disposal the next day. I chose the half soup and salad. The half salad would be better described as a 25% salad. Not much. The soup was ok but had really thick noodles. We visit this Bob Evans every two weeks at least. This is usually a good place for Dinner but not tonight! read more

Wow! We had not been to this Bob Evans in years and we are sorry we hadn't because we had such great service from the hostess, waitress Dusty, and wonderful cooks! We enjoyed the delicious turkey dinner with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Of course, those legendary dinner rolls were warm and yummy! Skipper enjoyed macaroni and cheese with green beans and ham. I was in town for work here in Mars and attempted to go to the Pig Iron next door to Bob Evans, not realizing Bob's was there. The Service at the Pig Iron was terrible, second time in as many visits, so I left and walked across to Bob Evan's. I am glad I did, they were much more friendly at Bob's, service was much better and the food tasted so much better. I got the Turkey with Dressing and a Iced Tea. The meal came with all the typical Thanksgiving Fare. Turkey, Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Cranberry Sauce and even a couple of hot rolls with butter. The food came out quickly, and the server was great, she checked on me often and kept my iced tea full. The food tasted excellent, just like homemade. The turkey was moist and had a little crispiness on the edges that gave it extra flavor and goodness. The mashed potatoes, Green Beans, Cranberry Sauce and rolls were also great. Next time you are in the area, skip the hipster Pig Iron and come to this down home spot, Bob Evan's is recommended by leaps and bounds. Enjoy! read more

Been here a few times this year, it's always been good quality but nothing outstanding and It's a little dimmer in brightness than I would like but overall not bad. They are definitely understaffed and so the wait times can get high. In that case I would say not to wait for more than a half hour and to just go elsewhere if convenient. read more

Hubby and I were in Pittsburgh during the holidays to check out Lumaze and were staying right down the road at the Comfort Inn so since I know I can always count on Bob Evans for a great meal we came here for an early dinner. The place was pretty empty so we were seated right away and our meals arrived less than 10 minutes after we ordered. The turkey dinner with all the fixings is always delicious (I absolutely love the cranberry sauce with the pieces of fruit) and hubby really enjoyed his slow roasted turkey bacon melt. Our server had quite a few tables she was in charge of but she made sure each and every one of customers was taken care of and wanted for nothing. We fell in love with some of the parks in the area so we will definitely be coming back to Pittsburgh in the spring and will be staying at the hotel nearby again so we'll make a point of coming back. read more

Bob Evans is like your typical diner for brunch. The wait for this chain on a Sunday at 11 wasn't particularly long for a party of 2. I did see a lot of other larger groups wait for longer periods of time. However, when we actually got into the restaurant, the restaurant wasn't that busy. I had ordered Farmers Choice Breakfast. It came with 3 hot cakes, two eggs, a choice of hash or home fries, and a choice of protein (ham, bacon or sausage). Quality wise, the food was mediocre, but I'm not one to complain because of the price! All this was for $8.99, which is a crazy deal coming from Canada. The meal itself was huge and I definitely couldn't finish it all. For a drink, my partner ordered the coffee, which was nothing special and I had ordered a hot chocolate. Our server asked if I wanted whipped cream, and I had said yes. Unfortunately, I didn't realize they used marshmallow whipped cream and it completely sweetened my hot chocolate to the point where I couldn't drink it anymore. Okay. Try to read this in the slowest pace you possibly can. Ready? Let's go. Showed up for the "Early Bird Special" according to my Dad. This place can kind of be a cemetery between 3-5. Old ladies with their hair done, gentlemen with short sleeved dress shirts and ties. I digress. I arrived at 3:30 to have "lupper" with Mom and Dad. We found what we wanted to eat and drink before the waitress even showed up the first time. She knew her menu, ill give her that. Mom and I got Country Fried Steak, and Dad got Potato Crusted Tilapia. We decided to do the $2 add on for soup and dessert. That was a great idea. So much food for $9.99. The waitress took her time bringing everything. But it was worth the wait. I know the restaurant industry, I know you can get in the weeds. But she had one other table. It was just kinda frustrating when we didn't get something that we originally ordered, and had to wait for her to lollygag around back to us to get what my Mom had asked for. Either way, great food. Tried to come here three times in the past, always ended waiting about 15-20 minutes while half of the tables were empty. This time we were luckier and were seated almost immediately. That's where the pros of the visit ends. Food visibly sat under a heat lamp for 10-15 minutes before our waitress brought it to us. Never got any rolls. Half of side orders were wrong. We like going here for a good home style breakfast. We went on a recent Sunday morning around 11 am. The line of folks waiting for a table was almost out the door! Bob Evans is very popular! They seem to have an efficient system for moving people in and out. Our wait was probably about 20 minutes. We were greeted right away by our very cheerful and efficient server Laurie. BJ got a Western Omelet and I got Biscuits and Gravy. Just for fun, we quizzed our server concerning the difference between hash browns and home fries. Everyone knows that hash browns are shredded potatoes. And home fries are chunked or wedged potatoes, mystery solved! I love Bob Evans. They are my go to when I want a simple meal with that home style comfort food feeling. My service is always great when I dine in and the food is top quality. Their coffee is great and that's important to me too. I was excited to find delivery is now available in my area. My first order was perfect so I decided to order again. This time I wanted that new hand breaded fried chicken. Seeing it in my inbox several times a week had me drooling. The dressing, potatoes, gravy, rolls, loaded potato soup and cookies were all tasty and cooked to perfection. Sadly my chicken was very overcooked. So overcooked that on the ends the crust was inedible and some of the meat was dry and stringy. I ordered the family meal deal so I could have leftovers for a few days and not have to cook just reheat. Reheating has made that even worse so there is some significant waste. I am pretty bummed because I was anticipating "crispy on the outside tender and juicy on the inside" chicken the way my grandmother used to make. Instead I got the "tasty but nearly burnt and barely edible" chicken my mother used to make. Oh well it was still better than the "ewww gross what did you season this with and did you set the temperature to ash" chicken that I make. I sure hope by the time I order again they will have the temp and timing down on the chicken. I suppose there is a learning curve with anything new. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We preordered an Easter takeout dinner - paid in full and placed the order a week before pickup. We drive to pick up our order and are told at the counter they are out of everything.... didn't call us prior, offer any other substitutes but Mac & cheese... couldn't process a refund until Monday. My very very good friend who's from West Virginia raves about this place all the time but we don't have any in New York so I was thrilled when I passed this one while visiting a friend in the northern Pittsburgh suburbs. Their specialty is breakfast foods and my friend recommended I get the sausage gravy and biscuits. The servings were large and the service was very fast at this particular location. The only strange thing was that it seemed like their menus were out of date because two or three things I asked for on the menu they just didn't have. Would definitely visit again. read more

It has it's ups and downs. It's a good place to go if you want the typical, classic, American "Bacon and Eggs" type breakfasts. They rave about their famous biscuits and they're fine, but nothing to write home about. Breakfast is by far their specialty and the other meal times are average. . . at best. The service is fine. Not great, not bad, but fine. The place is clean. They seem to want to rip off cracker barrel which I found to be amusing in the "rolling my eyes" kind of way. "Hit and miss" is a very good description of this location. We've been here several times, but it has never wowed us. The service was particularly spotty this last visit. We were seated promptly, but had to wait about 10 minutes before our server greeted us. I have an issue with homefries and hashbrowns. No, it's not that I don't care for them, I just don't know the difference between the two. I asked our waitress by pointing to the menu and asking "are these hashbrowns or homefries?" She told me what they were hashbrowns, and I said, "ok, then, I'd like the homefries." Well, wouldn't you know it, I STILL got the opposite of what I wanted. Now I have even more of a hashbrown/homefry identification disorder. I have no idea what I got or what I want because nobody will tell me which is which. We had an opportunity to watch another couple be seated at the table across from us. The table had been "cleared" but it was clearly not clear. There was still a mess of water on both the table and the bench. I watched in horror as the customer walked up to the kitchen area, asked for a towel, and took it back to clean his own table off. How any employee there could expect a customer to have to wipe down the table before eating is beyond me. The food itself was mediocre. I don't know if I was just bummed about the homefry incident, but I didn't care for the omlette I had. Such a shame. I was really in the mood for breakfast. read more

One of my favorite restaurants to take the family to. Always a great meal with some of the friendliest people around. Their breakfasts are delicious as my favorite is the Farmer's Choice. Waited 15 minutes after being seated before our waitress even came to the table. Took our order. My wife's food sat under the heat lamp for 15 minutes before mine came up. Then they both sat for another 10 minutes before they were brought to the table. Her fried shrimp and fries were soggy and chewy yuck. My breakfast was like this. Eggs cold bacon and potatoes burnt beyond being edible. My pancakes were cold. Manager came over and took care of the bill and sent us home with a loaf of banana bread which we tried this morning. It was nasty. All in all we were at bob Evans for 2 hours and left highly irritated and mad. I do not recommend this location to anyone read more

Just apologies. I have eaten at this Bob Evans about a dozen times and i have to say that it is always hit or miss. About half of the time it's really good and the other half bad. The problem is that when it's bad all you ever get is an apology, never an offer to make it right or a reduction in the bill, just apologies. read more

Well I went to bob Evans for dinner & was waited on by the lovely Blanche. I started my meal off with the cheese bites which unfortunately I failed to get a photo of but they were very tasty! For my entree I chose the sunshine skillet with French toast on the side. Yummy!!! So good! I highly recommend . My son had the grilled chicken fingers & Cathy had the garden omelet. Everything was fantastic & Blanche was nice enough to give me a box of treats to enjoy later which I'm super excited about. The box included 2 delicious biscuits & 2 pieces of iced strawberry bread! I'm actually eating a biscuit now as I'm typing- if you're planning on enjoying your biscuit at home like I am- 10 seconds in the microwave and they taste like they're freshly baked just out of the oven!! :) I plan on saving the strawberry bread for when I watch devious maids later:) in a nutshell- u can't go wrong with bob Evans!!!! read more

Never work for this Bob Evans. I was not trained at all, and was expected to know how to do everything. Don't bother asking for help, because most of the people will yell at you or ignore you. The management is so disrespectful. I have never worked in such an uncomfortable environment before. I traveled a lot in my job around Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York, and have always tried to have breakfast at a local Bob Evans for the food quality and the service. I have even eaten at this particular Bob Evans location in the past and have been treated very well. My son and his wife recently came to visit from Ohio and we stopped at the Bob Evans in Cranberry to have some breakfast. We stood for almost 10 minutes waiting for someone to seat us. My daughter-in-law asked to see the manager and the manager came and told us that they were very busy and found us a table. We noticed that there were many dirty tables, and few waitstaff were working on the floor. When we were seated my wife noticed her plasticize menus were not clean, and the table next to us was not cleaned and it remained that way through our entire meal. Our waitress did a reasonably good job, but was not as attentive as we thought she should be. The food was acceptable. Of all the Bob Evans Restaurants I have visited this experience has been the worst of all. read more

Got the meat loaf and mashed potato 19.95 take out. It came with dinner rolls. I suspect the baker was trying yo get rid of the rolls. They were way over baked and not dissimilar to hockey pucks. Other than that it was a decent meal. read more
