This has been our go-to place for years. Not sure if it has changed hands but the quality has deteriorated considerably. Our breakfast today was lukewarm at best; the "fresh" waffle was room temperature. We had a party of four and the meals, although ordered at the same time, came out piecemeal, with the last order not being recevied until after others were done. So unacceptable. We visit Mac's Cafe a couple of times a week and have never been dissatisfied. The food is very good and very generous. The staff members are friendly and helpful. If you want a specific meal, they will make it for you! If it' very busy, which it often is, you may wait a bit for your order but you can help yourself to the beverage bar and just chat with whoever you came with. If you want to bring your family or are with a group of friends, they have a very nice meeting room available for you. It IS breakfast and lunch only but they serve either anytime. The menu is very comprehensive so we never get bored with the menu, which is updated regularly as Mary (Manager) thinks up more delicious meals. read more

I was told by the guys at work it's a great breakfast joint. Was disappointed. Have waitresses but not sure what they are there for. You place your order at the door.grab a number, find a seat, get your own drinks, and the food is brought to your table. I go out to not have to do the work. My pancake was not fluffy, mix used for it was from earlier because the baking power was neutralized by the time it was cooked, bacon was overdone and brittle like it had been sitting on the grill, eggs were almost right (over easy is so hard to hit), my steak was well done and not the medium (at least it wasn't rare) English muffin with butter (it wasn't butter on it, tasted like whirl) home fries were ok. The tea was some generic "golden tip", refills you get yourself. I just don't understand why the waitresses can't take your order and go back to the register....and tip before food is served wtf is that? My wife's food was good, scrambled eggs hash browns and sausage gravy. Another waste of time. I was really looking forward to a good little breakfast spot after our local one closed. read more

A nice little breakfast spot with a friendly, small-town feel. There was definitely a sense that some of the customers were regulars. We also happened to be there on a Monday, which is their free coffee day, and they give free cookies for customers to pick up after ordering and paying. Love to go to Macs when out that way. Wait staff are always amazing and the food is great. I accidentally came in about ten minutes before closing time. I noticed the hours when I was given a menu. I told the waitress I didn't realize that I came in so late and didn't want to hold her up. She insisted I stay, and said she had a lot of clean up to do (as did the kitchen) and she would be mad if I left. The food was excellent and I was treated like a queen. read more

I really liked the breakfast bowl which had sausage, eggs, peppers, cheese and hash-browns with a Coffee, was very filling. For lunch I had the make your own burger with provolone cheese, peppers, mushrooms, onions, lettuce and various other toppings and a basket of fries for 11$ was awesome!! They also have serve yourself lemon or cucumber soaked water which I really enjoyed also, very happy with the food and service. read more

My co-worker and I were in the area for training and were in search of a place to dine on our allotted $10. We loved our lunch!! We opted for the soup, 1/2 sandwich & salad deal. It was plenty to fill our bellies & was scrumptious. My 1/2 turkey sandwich contained a large slice of tomato, lettuce & ooey-gooey melted cheese & mayo. The salad consisted of mixed greens, (always a plus in my book) not just measly head lettuce, several onion rings, cherry tomatoes & the house made ranch. The chili wasn't bad either. One of the highlights was the grab a mug of your choice & pour your own coffee (or any drink). Great coffee!!! Refill your own drink & grab a refill for the road if you'd like. Travel cups offered. This place also serves breakfast all day. Our neighbors hot cakes looked & smelled phenomenal. You order & pay before eating. We were greeted by a friendly, Paula Dean-like, lady who was very helpful. They offer fresh baked goods too. Dessert-ed (before lunch) on a chocolate chip cookie baked fresh that morning. read more

Very long wait for food. If your hungry you might want to look elsewhere. You order and sit and wait.

I came upon a wooden stick, and then I came upon Mac's. This cafe is tucked away from the world on route 8 by the tire shop, and I felt satisfied with my discovery. The western omelet was stupendous, the Texas toast was up there, and the hotcakes were fulfilling. The decor was on point with giant vases everywhere. However, I went here during the beginning of the pandemic, so it was a good thing I snagged a pump of Germ-X after I left. Be back, I maybe will. read more

This is a phenomenal little café close to home. We go at least once a month. The staff unbelievably kind and attentive. The food is pretty good and made to your liking with whatever you want on it. The atmosphere is nice, quaint and clean. My ONLY complaint is that they were open at least ONE evening a week. (wink to the owner?) Seriously, one of the best in Butler. read more

My husband and I came here starving. We sat for 13 minutes without a single person even acknowledging us. We ended up seating ourselves and grabbing our own menu. Still, no one came over, or even stopped to say someone would be with us. There were only 5 other tables, all but one of them already served, and at least 3 servers standing around or cleaning tables. Pretty big bummer, as we go to breakfast often and had high hopes for this place. Edit: apparently you order at the register and get your own drinks. I only learned this from reading the reviews after having left. I'm sure that if anyone could have been troubled to tell us that while we were sitting there, we would have followed the process. I've been here a handful of times during my travels. Each time there was a woman waiting to take our order, give us a number and we sat ourselves (which I like cause I can pick where I want to sit). Staff has always been friendly and the food has always been good. Even the customers (many seem to be regulars) are always pleasant when we're here. Today was the first time I was in here. We walked in, stood there without any acknowledgement, wasn't sure if we needed to wait to be seated or seat ourselves. We sat ourselves not knowing that we were supposed to order our food at the counter, get a number and then sit down. There were several girls working up front, and not one of them told us what to do. After sitting for 10 minutes, we saw a couple of other people come in, place their order and then sit down. They should have a sign up stating that this is what you are supposed to do. We then went up to order our food. One of the other girls working gave the phone to the girl that was waiting on us and she took two phone orders before acknowledging that we were there. After we finally ordered our food and sat down, it took a half an hour to get it. Very disappointing! read more

Really disappointed !! I ordered 2 fish dinners for take out. Asked the very nice lady if the mac and cheese was home made, she said no but it was good. Well if you like tasteless bland paste then you might like the mac and cheese. One order had a normal large piece of fish, but the other order had a small 1/2 size piece of fish. What in the hell, I will not be back. They can't even make fresh french fries. I saw one of the cooks with a long beard, "no hair mask" bring a large bag of frozen fries into the kitchen. I gave this place a try after a heroic night of drinking. The food is what you would expect. Nothing exotic but still plenty of variety. They cooked my bacon perfectly (Medium/medium rare) and my omelette was not burnt. The orange juice is terrible though. Some bottled brand in the drink cooler. Definitely not a good orange. Every time I've been here everyone has been attentive to us. We usually go with my husband's grandparents and the staff are super accommodating to their needs. You typically order and pay, grab a number, get your drink, and your food is brought to you. They noticed they we're having some Mobil trouble and did the order from our table, check in multiple times, and even got refills for them. This is typical breakfast food with an awkward atmosphere. The food can be pretty bland and the coffee is not very strong. You order before you sit down and get your own drinks. Tables are left unattended to for long periods of time and the employees you do come across are not friendly. Had a tough time deciding between 3 or 4 stars. Chose 3 because the atmosphere was a little too awkward. But that could just be because 'it's Butler' so maybe you're used to it and won't mind it. Bacon was really thin and way too salty. Beverage station was weird- no creamer machine or fresh milk, just little cups of half n half. Or maybe I just didn't see one if there was [a creamer machine]? Water was mixed with Sprite (comes out of the same hose in the machine). But my omelet was amazing and it came with the freshest bread! Friend got some eggs over easy, which looked great, along with some crispy hash browns and she said everything was really tasty. Portions were above average! Great place to cure a hangover but not necessarily a great place for brunch with out-of-towners. Overall: meh read more

Everything you could tell was made from frozen. The place was very dirty and broken. The fountain drinks were broken except 3 kinds. The food was mediocre and the lady at the register while buying my food implied that I was fat and not get the fries... I didn't even eat them because they were crinkle cut ore Ida fries. My mother and I go here often and it's really become one of our favorites. The people are top notch. They deliver great service, great food, and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and the atmosphere warm. They have a great BLT, a delicious turkey wrap, and my favorite, the amazing chips that come with those. They do not skimp on the ingredients. The BLT has a lot of bacon instead of the one or two pieces you often get elsewhere. Sometimes I just get an extra order of the chips to take home. Really great! I had the French Toast and my husband had an omelette. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We didn't realize that you order up front before you sit down, so they kindly guided us to that without leaving us sitting clueless in the booth for long. The food was ready very quickly. Run of the Mill slightly over priced food. I ordered a Fish Sandwich and received a piece of fried fish between a bun. A sandwich in its simplest sense. but where were the topping? Is lettuce and tomato to much to ask for... Very clean restaurant, constantly see girls cleaning tables and floors. All the employees are very friendly and very polite. Breakfast is served from open to close. Lunch menu has many items to choose from. They even have an ALL YOU CAN EAT PANCAKES option at a very low price. I have ate many of the breakfast and lunch items. Food is absolutely delicious, nice sized portions, and very reasonably priced. Coffee is served all day and always fresh. Negative reviews must be from competitors because as many times as I have dined there, I have not EVER had a bad experience. The person that said everything was made from frozen is WRONG! Standing at the counter you can watch the cooks prepare and cook the food. Much of it is fresh. Also, their comment about everything was dirty and broken is another fabricated lie. If the one flavor of fountain drink wasn't working it was probably because Mac's gets so much business it ran out. All that person had to do was bring it to any employees attention and it would have been promptly refilled. As for another reviewer saying there wasn't a creamer machine, that statement is also incorrect. There has been a creamer machine there for as long as I can remember. And even if the lady at the register THOUGHT the one reviewer was too fat and they shouldn't get the fries, she would never say that. Can anyone reading that review even take it seriously??? I can only surmise that review was from a competitor that felt threatened because the food, service, and atmosphere at Mac's is fantastic!!! If you haven't dined at Mac's, I urge you to try it at least once and I guarantee you will go back. read more
