I ordered the cheesy potatoes and eggs with bacon well done and eggs over medium. The bacon was crisp. The potatoes were not and the eggs were less than over easy. So... it was ok. The girls were happy without complaint, they had pancakes and stuffed French toast, but it was too much for their tiny stomachs and needed boxes. Overall, the flow from seated to exit has some delay which is possibly due to the attention of the staff to their guests. Maybe it's the lack of motivation? I don't know. FYI: The more tables you quickly change; the more money you make. So, if they master the table exchange so people aren't literally left in the cold outside waiting to be seated, I'd go back, but if not, I can make breakfast at home. read more

This cafe came highly rated to me, as the shop is known for its unique flavors and big portions, like for pancakes, French toast, cinnamon buns and other sweets. They also currently have a seasonal latte flight which is unique and comes in various flavors. Some of them were a little too sweet for my taste, but it was cool to try the different flavors at smaller portions. All the food I tried was also delicious and came in bigger portions than I expected. The shop had a decent crowd at 1PM on a Saturday, and there was a local event going on throughout Main St at the same time. The service was a little off at first, but the server seemed to catch after I ordered my coffee. I thought it was interesting that the server said she can take my drink order, bring it out and then I can order my meal. I stopped into the Cannella Cafe at random while riding through town, and I'm glad I did. It was about 11:00 on a Saturday, and the place was BUSY. If I have one negative comment, it's that this is a seat yourself establishment, but when it's this busy and people are lined up at the door it can create some stress as we all watch for an appropriately sized table to open up. I think a hostess to organize during busy periods would be best. Anyway, I got seated and was immediately taken care of. My waitress was pleasant and efficient, and I had a drink in front on me within minutes of sitting down. Breakfast came a few minutes after ordering. They have a large menu of beverages and sweet items from the griddle that looked really good, but I went with the basics to start. I will say that the sausage gravy was very good, and the rest of my meal was yummy too. The place was clean, bright, well appointed, and full of other folks having a nice time. This is always top of mind for a good Sunday morning breakfast. The food is always amazing (especially the cheesy hash browns). The only opportunity is that there really isn't a hostess or anyone managing seating and because of the great food, the line can get long. Nice spot for a decent breakfast. It was busy on the Saturday morning we stopped in. My fiancee got the french toast with fresh fruit. She says it was exactly what she was looking for. I had eaten earlier in the morning and just got a side of home fries. I always order them well-done with fried onions - success! The one miss in the food department was my latte. Judging by their setup, I thought it would be a proper drink with robust coffee and fresh steamed milk. This was more of an overly-sweet vanilla mix. It was also served in a tall coffee mug rather than one for a latte. 1/5 for COVID precautions at this place. The tables were somewhat spaced, but the restaurant was much closer to 100% capacity rather than the 50% allowed by law. Our server was wearing a mask, albeit incorrectly. Most of the serving staff had them down around their chins while speaking with customers at the counter or at tables. No one in the open view kitchen was wearing masks. read more

We recently bought a home in the Butler area and we're looking for an alternative to Eatin Park for breakfast. We went to Cannellas this morning and had a great experience. The food was amazing. My partner had the red white and blue waffle with was loaded with yummy fresh fruit. My bacon Swiss omelette was full of bacon and cheese and exactly what I needed. We can't wait to go back and sample other interesting menu items. I would have given 5 stars except they took very long to clean off tables- we would have preferred a booth but no one came to clean the table so we moved! The coffee was excellent!!! read more

Cannella Cafe is one of the punch card spots on the Butler County Coffee Connection program so we made a visit for coffee and brunch. Very nice restaurant in the heart of downtown Butler. I had the Red, White and Blue French toast (Bananas, strawberries, and blueberries) topped with whipped cream. It was excellent. I also got a side of ham for protein and it was good as well. My wife got the Red, white and blue waffle, which was good, BUT, the waffle needed another minute in the iron to have been fully baked, still, the waffle was good, but the French toast was better. This has been my new go-to breakfast/lunch spot in between classes. I'm slowly working my way through the menu and trying different things, and I haven't been disappointed once. Calming environment and they offer PLENTY of food for a small price. Waiter was super friendly and everyone here is so courteous and attentive. (They also spray down the tables and clean them thoroughly in between customers, so if you're a clean freak like me, you'll appreciate this.) The only thing I wish they had were gluten free options since my friend has Celiac's and wants to try the french toast, but she can suffer for now. Our group of 5 plus a toddler went for breakfast/lunch and all had the same opinion, it seems as if the quality has declined. We have been to Canella before and returned because we enjoyed it. Not this time. It took a very long time to receive our food after we ordered. Almost like our order wasn't put in, the tables that sat after us received their food while we waited. When the food did arrive it was average. The chicken on the avacado chicken cobb salad was over done, cold, dry & chewy, the chipotle grilled cheese was cold, not freshly made, not warm at all. The spinach and feta omelette had only a few pieces of spinach, and the potatoes were cold. They also no longer offer croissants for the chicken salad sandwich, and no longer have french fries. Service was slow. We waited to have drinks filled and our server brought our soup with our meals not before as requested. Oh, completely forgot our kids meal. Very disappointed. We will not return unless we hear things improved. read more
