Idk if it was made poorly or if it just wasn't my style. I also ordered a blueberry muffin it was delicious. +Customer service was poor. Nice ambiance, especially on a warm spring day with the outdoor seating. There's also plenty of indoor seating, so it's a good spot to bring your laptop and work. Service was quick. The food and my chai tea latte were a bit underwhelming; both lacked flavor, and the chai didn't really taste like chai. That said, they seem to be known for their bakery items, and most people were enjoying sweet treats (which looked great). I clearly missed the memo. Good baked goods and breakfast option, especially in good weather when you can sit on their nice patio! Regular things I've tried over here include croissants (good but not great), cheese cake (very nice), breakfast options like florentine eggs benedict, 2-egg breakfast, etc. They come with potatoes and fruit cups, which are both pretty decent. I like that the potatoes are done just right, which seems to be a running issue across some other chains. The only thing I don't care for are the turkey sausages, which are really basic frozen kind. I wish they had an upgraded chicken apple sausage! They have self-serve regular and decaf coffee, which tastes just fine. No issues with service ever. Usually fairly quick. It can get a bit busy on weekends! If you sit near that really heavy entrance door, you may just end up on door duty :-) Bartram House is my regular brunch circuit! read more

My first experience at Bartram was really nice! I was by myself and needed to waste some time. I loved the inside and decor...seems so upscale! I looked at all of the pastries, and they looked delicious, but I needed to eat some lunch instead of sweets, so I ordered the California Chicken Club. I loved all the flavors of the sandwich, and the salty chips went great with it. My only odd comment is that the ratio of the sandwich was a little off... there was too much chicken! An occasional trip here usually never disappoints; however, I was disappointed to find out they aren't currently selling any of their bars, including my favorite - the s'more's bar. They're currently redoing their bars, and they'll be back on the menu soon. So, the baked goods were limited unfortunately. Nevertheless, same great, friendly service, as always! My tiramisu was okay. It lacked the espresso flavor, which is the whole reason why I get this treat. The tart was baked to perfection, but I didn't get a tiramisu taste. My wife enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie. Now the Mediterranean salmon salad was fantastic! It was huge and loaded with fresh ingredients. Banana peppers, onion, feta, artichoke, olives, and perfectly cooked salmon. The picture does not do justice - this salad was big and delicious! I stopped by here a couple of Sundays ago with my wife and our twins for our morning coffee. Every Sunday morning, we try to hit up a new local coffee shop, and on this morning we decided to go to Bertram House Bakery in Cranberry. This coffee shop is located in a strip mall off of 228 near where the Penguins arena is. The space itself is quite large inside, with plenty of pastries on display and seating throughout the rest. After looking over the pastries, I decided to go with a Danish, while my wife chose a bear claw and my kids each got a macaron. For my coffee, I went with a caramel macchiato since my latte from the Wexford location had tasted just like milk. My wife went with the same, only iced. Thankfully, my coffee was better here. While it was dominated by the caramel flavor, I did get some coffee in the background. My Danish ended up being fantastic, with all the puff pastry and the cream on top. My wife also enjoyed her bear claw and liked the flakiness of it, as I had at the Wexford location. The bottom line for me is that I would head back again in the future. While I wouldn't head back for just the coffee, their pastries are good and reasonably priced as well. read more

Met up with some vendors here to talk shop, but honestly the real winner of the meeting was my cappuccino. Smooth, rich, and good enough to make me forget about spreadsheets for a minute. Everything in the case looked dangerously tempting -- like a dessert lineup auditioning for "most likely to ruin your diet." True to Pittsburgh form, this place is hidden like a secret level in a video game. I've been coming to this area for almost 10 years and had no clue it was here. Finding it felt like unlocking an achievement: "Congrats, you discovered Cranberry's best-kept bakery secret!" I had heard good things about Bartram and was in Cranberry on a Sunday morning so figured I'd stop in for a quick breakfast. Overall, I was unimpressed and not sure why I had heard good things. The place itself is cool. A modern coffee house vibe. Great selection of pastries and sweet treats. I got a cinnamon role and chocolate croissant to try. They were both ok - not bad not great. For my meal, I ordered the filet mignon eggs Benedict. However, i received some other eggs Benedict variation. I'm not picky so just rolled with it, and it was fine. Maybe slightly below average for what you'd expect for an eggs Benedict. The potatoes, however, were incredible. Service kind of sucked. The folks at the counter were not helpful at all when I asked about the different food options. They initially loaded up the wrong pastries but I caught them before they boxed it up. And then they got my order wrong. But they seemed to be high school aged so it's understandable to have poor service when working with staff that young. I might be back in the future, but it's not going to be top of my list. read more

I've held back on reviewing this place, because the location is good, yet the service is awful and many times the food comes out cold, as you can observe from the truth-sayers in the many 1-starred collection of reviews. I've eaten here many times and although it's been OK, when you stop in a place and wait for over 15 minutes to get a coffee, croissant, and muffins (for your wife and kids), something isn't right. It's the fault of the owner. He doesn't man the front of his establishments with enough resources, because he's too cheap. It's hard to blame someone for being overworked, however, there's more to the use case. When I was about to be waited on, she stopped, went into the back, grabbed someone else's food and then said, "OK you want a chocolate croissant." I said, "no, before you walked away, I asked you for a regular croissant w/ chocolate and blueberry muffins. I've had a lot of bad service here over the years and this is another one." She went on to say, "well, if you're not happy here, then why did you come back?" I said, "well... if you must know, I figured to give you another shot." JUST WOW....! A guy with a Pirates cap, whom I presume is your chef, dishwasher, prep cook and GM, walked out and I looked at him and said, "are you paying attention?" Blank stare, no words said. So, her comment made me comment here or I would have just let the apathetic owner know about it, which I also did. Pay closer attention to your operations and hire smarter people who don't talk back to customers. Have a nice day everyone, avoid this place like the plague. On short business trip in the area and didn't want mediocre chain Panera or blah grocery store options for a few sweets. Bartram Bakery was the perfect pick. Contemporary, metropolitan, clean vibe. Loved seating options-not a sea of laptops. Offerings are skillfully & beautifully presented (and clearly marked with description/pricing). Nice selection with a shockingly reasonable price point. House-made Cannoli had fresh crunch, not soggy; highly recommend. Cupcakes were fresh-not dry, great icing to cake ratio, (and pretty). Chocolate Chip cookies also tasted house-made with good texture. The best ending was the personnel. Manager Ed was a star! Welcoming, personable, genuine. First of all, let me start off with how pleasant the staff was. All of the staff that I interacted with was very pleasant, friendly and very great to interact with. The prices are very reasonable, especially for what you get. And there was a heavy veteran presence which made me happy. Now let's talk about the food! It was all as tasty as it looked! Bartram's menu includes cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies, many other desserts, sandwiches, salads, breakfast foods, and many beverages such as coffee. All of the foods look fancy and delicious, and I felt surprised and pleased that prices are reasonable. As soon as my husband and I entered this restaurant, an employee quickly and kindly greeted us. We were about to visit a different restaurant for dinner, so we were at Bartram just to purchase desserts to take home to eat later. We ordered one bear claw and one apple strudel. These desserts looked to be very fresh, and they tasted very good. They cost only a few dollars each. Stopped in for a breakfast sandwich one morning while staying in the area... They have a huge assortment of pastries and baked goods that look amazing. They also offer breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches, and omelettes - all are create your own, with many veggies and several proteins to choose from. They also offer lunch. I choose their breakfast sandwich with tomato, spinach, pepperjack, jalapeño, and bacon on their croissant and it looked beautiful! It tasted great too, but the hell on the croissant was too thin and too soft to actually pick up and eat like a sandwich, so I used a fork & knife and it was really good. Their side breakfast potatoes are amazing too. Coffee is pretty decent. The place gets loud when it gets packed and service is very slow, as the cashier wants to give personal attention to each customer and all that extra conversation ends up taking a toll on the length of time you'll spend in line. I suggest they add more staff and still offer the same great service. Definitely worth stopping in and trying out! read more

Great cinnamon rolls! Lots of their pastries have coconut which I'm not a fan of. The s'mores bar was very decadent and delicious! Very flaky and chewy croissant. The lemon coconut bar could definitely use more lemon- didn't taste it much. Very cute and modern place. read more

Stopped In recently to pick up half a dozen pastries for a birthday party. Inside the store the facilities feel really modern and clean with stainless steel everywhere. There are 2-3 display cases worth of pastries at any time and there is a counter to order other fresh sandwiches, coffee etc... Service was friendly and the wait wasn't terribly long either. Reasons for the lower ratings are: 1-with the exception of the cinnamon roll, the cupcakes, cannoli and bars were all dry and didn't seem fresh. 2-Had to come back as one item wasn't included though I'd paid for it. 3-As far as bakeries go, prices here were higher than other places around and I don't think the flavors/quality here justify it. I really did think the cinnamon roll was quite go though so I'd recommend that and would come back for that. read more

The atmosphere here is interesting - I've been once where I was the only one, and it was nice and calm, but it can get really loud weekend mornings so just to be aware of. The breakfast sandwich I had was really good, and the pastry I ordered was also good. Drinks were just OK when I went, and the service wasn't great. Bartram is never a place I have frequented, but this visit was pretty pleasant! This was the first time to this location, I have been to the one in McMurray a couple of times. Some friends and I got some goodies to go on our way to our Airbnb in Harmony. When we walked in, we weren't really greeted, but once we ordered the man who took our orders was very nice. He even comped my friend's goodies because it was her bday! I will say I think heading to the cash register to order and pay first vs. someone coming over to you while you're browsing the items is a little bit of an odd service model. It makes it seem like they just want your money. Would highly recommend changing this. The blueberry muffin was stellar, as well as the key lime torte. The cannoli was too mushy for me...and I am a cannoli connoisseur. read more
