Pot roast sandwich and bean soup
    Steve H.

I generally don't eat at chain restaurants! I did not really wanted to stop here tonight. My wife however was driving and really hungry. " if mom is not happy"....you know the end of the quote. So we found ourselves at Bobs. I ordered the pot roast 1/2 sandwich and a cup of bean soup. My wife had her favorite, chicken noddles on biscuit with mashed potatoes followed by a ice cream sundae. The service was great and my sandwich and bean soup outstanding! The chicken and noodles were "delectable " my better half commented. I got a really good coffee to go and the bill was a little more than twenty bucks. A good deal. I noticed that many previous reviews were negative toward staff. Interestingly the GM was in the phone for 15 minute while preparing food ungloved. When we asked our waitress about her behavior she reported that the GM was a good boss. You be the judge!

First time and last, If you prefer cold food and hard biscuit with disgusting fruits.... Bob Evans at Camby will be your choice.

Wasn't feeling well and decided to order chicken noodle soup. Big mistake all dry noodles and no broth. Never again.

Old-School Charm & Classic Comfort Food!…read more We absolutely loved our visit to Mel's Drive-In Diner! From the moment we pulled up, the old-school vibe hit us in the best way -- neon signs, retro booths, and that classic diner energy you just can't fake. Everyone there was extremely friendly and made us feel right at home. The menu is full of Westside classics, and everything we ordered hit the spot. My husband and I both got the double cheeseburgers, which were juicy, cheesy, and perfectly cooked -- just like a diner burger should be. The kids had kids' meals with cheeseburgers that were huge (definitely not your typical tiny kids' portions -- they were thrilled!). We also had to try the chili cheese dogs, which were messy in the best way and packed with flavor. And the malts -- wow. We went full nostalgic with a chocolate and a strawberry malt, and they were perfectly thick, creamy, and sweet. Total throwback in the best way possible. If you're craving a fun, family-friendly spot with great food, friendly faces, and a blast-from-the-past atmosphere, Mel's is the place! We'll definitely be back.

The mix of booths and tables give off a 1990's vibe. The place is cozy and comforting. Our server was attentive, friendly and engaging. She made menu recommendations. The menu is a mix of traditional breakfast and lunch items. Egg plates, pancakes, omelets, burgers. Prices are reasonable. There is an up charge for crust card use. I had a cheeseburger with onion rings on the advice of our server. The burger was huge with lots of toppings - I could only eat half. The onion rings are house made and delicious. My husband had the breaded tenderloin, which is prepared fresh in house. The huge tenderloin was thin with a nice breaded coating. He had the fries, which could have been a bit crispier. There is plenty of parking in the strip mall lot.

I was impressed they had four kinds of cobblers on hand, peach, cherry, apple and blackberry. We both ordered cobbler, cherry for me and blackberry for her. They were both delicious. Our server was very friendly and super efficient in taking care of us. Paying the check by the door was simple and cheaper if paid in cash.

The AVG is definitely a neighborhood tavern. It's cozy and very laid back with high top tables. I ordered an Old Fashioned but mixed drinks weren't really on offer unless it was something like rum and coke. I had a beer. It was fine. We were there for about an hour and a half. I would definitely return. The vibes were slow paced. We moved on to The Checkered Flag. Wowza!! It was a Thursday night but the place was hopping. We were joined by another friend with plans to have a bite to eat. The menu is unbelievable. So much to choose from. We were kind of boring because 3 of us chose the same thing and the other two chose the same item. Two had the pork tenderloin. Both agreed it was excellent. Three of us had the BBQ Pork spud. It's a giant baked potato with butter, a good spread of pimento cheese, moist pulled pork, BBQ sauce, coleslaw and green onions. It was fantastic. Normally the pork can become a bit dry. This was not the case. Cooked perfectly. I was able to order the Old Fashioned. They apologized because they were out of oranges but I was fine. It was a very good drink. There happened to be two musicians performing. I was quite impressed. This tavern was very very impressive. We all agreed to return Our final stop was Herrmann. It's a small brewery tucked away off a quiet street. We were offered several tastings of the beers on offer. We were all able to find something to our liking. I had a porter. There are tables for four spread around the seating area. It's comfortable and definitely a neighborhood haunt. All three places were definitely neighborhood taverns. The Checkered Flag was hands down the best! Indy has so much to offer!

They have a rather large stage, so they probably have bands or entertainment at night. There are a number of signs warning of restrictions and it appears that they do a security search at night to restrict weapons and drugs. At noon, there were a couple people at the bar watching football and having lunch. We took a booth. Charisse, the bartender and only server was super engaging, attentive and went the extra mile to ensure a positive experience. Not only did she check on us, but the cook also came out and checked on our meals. We had 5 star service. The menu offers pizza, sandwiches and salads. Prices are reasonable. I selected the taco salad with pulled pork. The salad was immense with fresh lettuce, tomato and cheese. The pulled pork was good. The fried shell was a bit greasy. Otherwise, the salad was good and filling. My husband had the Big Western Burger which he raved about (and he can be critical). The burger was specially prepared medium rare for him and it was cooked perfectly. He loved the bacon, onion rings and bbq sauce toppings. He gave the burger a definite 5 stars. The table we selected was a bit cold (it was snowing out). Every time someone came into the building, a blast of cold came in. We probably could have moved but the table was already set. The bar is 21 and over only, so leave the kids home. I'd recommend trying lunch. They have daily lunch specials.
