Drinks are good. Staff is nice never really had a bad experience here but it is Applebee's so obviously the food isn't going to be amazing but the ambience is nice.

This was not our first choice for a Mother's Day dinner out. One place told us it would be an hour and a half to be seated. Really? Occupancy at 5 pm was less than a third. I hear McDonald's is paying $100 bonuses per week for attendance initiatives. Staffing shouldn't be an issue. Applebee's seated us right away. Service was not slow due to the holiday. The menu says it was disinfected after each use. The electronic device on each table has a sticker that says "This device is disinfected after each table use." It's nice to see their policy in writing than merely assuming. We ordered the Breadsticks with Alfredo Sauce for an appetizer. Guess who ordered that. The granddaughter ordered the Grilled Chicken & Spinach Alfredo Bowl and loved it. The grandmother ordered the Crispy Orange Chicken Bowl and loved it as well. I opted for the Double Crunch Shrimp and kept the sides it comes with being the coleslaw and the fries. The fries were a bit salty for me but then I'm on a salt free diet. A nice surprise under the fries were six more shrimp. The shrimp were good and none were left for a box to go home. The coleslaw was minuscule and dry. One good thing about chain restaurants now are the electronic devices on each table. We like being able to settle the check this way instead of waiting for a server to bring a paper receipt. These devices are compatible with swipe, insert and tap. They also print paper receipts or email your receipt. You can also use them to call your server to the table or order dessert.

Sidney was excellent because she was attentive and kindhearted. I originally sat at the for a margarita only however she quickly greeted and handed me a menu and next thing i know is i've ordered an appetizer and entree.

We stopped in for dinner, from the hostess to the waitress, the staff was exceptionally friendly. I ordered the perfect margarita and 6oz sirloin. The margarita was very, very sweet and lacked the smoothness I was hoping for in a "perfect" margarita. The steak was cooked perfect and had excellent flavor. Garlic mashed potatoes were good but the green beans were mushy, and over cooked. My sis said the taco salad was great! The atmosphere was clean and sporty. In the end, I wish was had eaten at Charlie's right next door.

Their Double Crunch Shrimp is now this disappointing clump of frozen meh. Kroger's brand of breaded shrimp is better.

Ewww...we didn't learn our lesson, clearly. Thinking we wanted something different to pick up locally for dinner, we thought we'd give Applebee's another chance. They have changed their Double Crunch Breaded Shrimp, and Double Yuck. Way to much freezer mushy breading and the shrimp is chewy. My broccoli was also almost raw. Hubs order a Chicken Fajati Roll up, and they messed it up as usual. Our sons plain hamburger was right for once, at least.

Yes it may just be an Applebee's but everything was good from the service, atmosphere to the food & drinks. I had the Bourbon Street Chicken & Shrimp (Iswitched the potatoes for grilled veggies) and added a bowl of tortilla soup. My wife had the Sweet & Savory Grilled Chicken plus the one Applebee's Halloween themed drinks. Overall everything was pretty good but for 40$ I felt like the portions were very small, the grilled veggies I subbed for were charged as an upgrade and I literally got 9, 1/5" slices of veggies and the bowl of soup was very weak.

To the left, as you enter, is the game area with 5 pool tables, a dart board, a video game, and a shuffle board area. To your right of the main bar is the dining and D. J. area. There are 8 6-top tall tables for larger groups. For those who need regular tables, there are many along the bar. You'll find a second smaller bar with 11 bar stools for super busy nights. Want to watch a game? Then you're in luck since you can see a flatscreen wherever you sit. Looking for a night of music, then you're in the right spot. Just check their website for the details. This bar offers something for every person who enjoys tasty food, music, a place to enjoy pool, darts, pull-tabs, and shuffleboard. The main u-shaped bar is large (30 stools), with many regulars who are recognized as soon they enter. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming to everyone. The menu has the typical pub food with daily specials. The appetizers are plentiful, and many are large enough for a main course such as the Heavy Slop Tots, Mile High Nachos, Loaded Potato Wedges, 5 Pepperoni Breadsticks or Wings. The Heavy Supreme Salad is different topped with sausage, pepperoni, and then regular salad ingredients. The chili, loaded or not, is good. Loaded is my personal preference, but hubby prefers just the small, diced onions. The past week, I ordered their excellent baked potato and topped it off with my loaded chili. So good! All kinds of sandwiches and wraps provide a nice selection to choose from, and each sandwich is served with one side (upgrades available). The Reuben served with onion rings was tasty. Both were a tad greasy, but the rings are deep-fried, of course. The 1/2 lb pork tenderloin is huge and can be prepared grilled or breaded. My husband has gotten it grilled, and he asked they add Cajun Seasoning, which they happily did. Another popular choice is the fish sandwich (cod or tilapia) and grilled or breaded. Reasonably priced dinner options include a Sirloin Steak, NY Strip, Grilled Chicken, Fish (cod or tilapia) prepared your way. Heavy's round's out the dinner menu with New Orleans Pasta or Cajun Chicken Alfredo Pasta and even Fajitas. We made a specific trip Friday evening so my husband could try the Slow Roasted Prime Rib. Your portion size option is 10 oz. ($15.49) or 16 oz. ($18.49). The server had raved on and on, so he was looking forward to a decent Prime Rib. It was anything but good!! As you can see from the attached picture, it was a lump of fat. Maybe it was just an off night, but neither of us will order again. The sides were great, and as I noted before, the baked potato is really good. Pizza, calzones, and Strombolis are perfect for large groups to share. Our servers were friendly, attentive, and hustled. Other than the extremely fatty Prime Rib, everything we've ordered has been good.

They have a rather large stage, so they probably have bands or entertainment at night. There are a number of signs warning of restrictions and it appears that they do a security search at night to restrict weapons and drugs. At noon, there were a couple people at the bar watching football and having lunch. We took a booth. Charisse, the bartender and only server was super engaging, attentive and went the extra mile to ensure a positive experience. Not only did she check on us, but the cook also came out and checked on our meals. We had 5 star service. The menu offers pizza, sandwiches and salads. Prices are reasonable. I selected the taco salad with pulled pork. The salad was immense with fresh lettuce, tomato and cheese. The pulled pork was good. The fried shell was a bit greasy. Otherwise, the salad was good and filling. My husband had the Big Western Burger which he raved about (and he can be critical). The burger was specially prepared medium rare for him and it was cooked perfectly. He loved the bacon, onion rings and bbq sauce toppings. He gave the burger a definite 5 stars. The table we selected was a bit cold (it was snowing out). Every time someone came into the building, a blast of cold came in. We probably could have moved but the table was already set. The bar is 21 and over only, so leave the kids home. I'd recommend trying lunch. They have daily lunch specials.

The AVG is definitely a neighborhood tavern. It's cozy and very laid back with high top tables. I ordered an Old Fashioned but mixed drinks weren't really on offer unless it was something like rum and coke. I had a beer. It was fine. We were there for about an hour and a half. I would definitely return. The vibes were slow paced. We moved on to The Checkered Flag. Wowza!! It was a Thursday night but the place was hopping. We were joined by another friend with plans to have a bite to eat. The menu is unbelievable. So much to choose from. We were kind of boring because 3 of us chose the same thing and the other two chose the same item. Two had the pork tenderloin. Both agreed it was excellent. Three of us had the BBQ Pork spud. It's a giant baked potato with butter, a good spread of pimento cheese, moist pulled pork, BBQ sauce, coleslaw and green onions. It was fantastic. Normally the pork can become a bit dry. This was not the case. Cooked perfectly. I was able to order the Old Fashioned. They apologized because they were out of oranges but I was fine. It was a very good drink. There happened to be two musicians performing. I was quite impressed. This tavern was very very impressive. We all agreed to return Our final stop was Herrmann. It's a small brewery tucked away off a quiet street. We were offered several tastings of the beers on offer. We were all able to find something to our liking. I had a porter. There are tables for four spread around the seating area. It's comfortable and definitely a neighborhood haunt. All three places were definitely neighborhood taverns. The Checkered Flag was hands down the best! Indy has so much to offer!
