I want to start by saying my service advisor handled the situation very well. My vehicle was not completed as promised. He let me know he had "emergency loaners" on hand. I stopped in to pick it up around 3:30 earlier this week. I appreciated his effort to make things right. Unfortunately, my experience at the cashier counter was not as polite. When I came in to pick up the loaner, the cashier (the woman with darker hair whose desk sits against the back wall) was rude. I thanked her for helping get a temporary solution in place. She made a point to tell me that the vehicle had been pulled from another customer to be given to me. Her tone made it seem as though I had demanded to take a car from someone else, which was not the case. I was told I was receiving an "emergency loaner," and I had no knowledge it was originally set aside for anyone else. If there was an internal issue or last-minute adjustment, that is not something a customer should be made to feel guilty about. I understand that end of day situations can be stressful, and I even considered that she may have just been having a bad day. However, speaking down to a customer and placing blame on them for an internal decision is inappropriate. I should have addressed it with a manager while I was there, but I chose to reflect on it first. Again, the advisor's service was excellent, the interaction at the cashier counter, unfortunately, was not. I was hesitant to leave a review as I have never left one before and I would like to believe she was just having a bad day, but I have not yet returned the loaner as my vehicle still is not completed. I should not have left feeling guilty about taking a vehicle that was offered to me and for keeping it longer than expected. It is unfortunate that I felt the need to create an account to leave a review, that's how much this interaction has bothered me. I hope something was lined up for the other customer who is also without a vehicle. I was hoping me taking this would've been an overnight fix. read more

I am starting this review with the update. Bob Brown had my vehicle 2 times, for a total of 27 days to fix what a text from Shane said is "a $22 sensor" What Bob Brown and Shane have forgotten is it's not just a $22 sensor. It's piece of mind, it's a relationship, it's having a reliable vehicle for this mom to get to and from a job that makes ends meet. It's putting your trust in a company that they have your family, your job, and your piece of mind at heart. I will be picking up my vehicle this morning, against my wishes. I was hopeful that they would buy the vehicle back so I can take my business elsewhere, but they are not willing to do that, nor are they willing to trade for a comparable vehicle so I can have an ounce of trust in the vehicle (and the company) that supports my family and gets my children to and from their daily activities. ** If you are thinking about buying a vehicle here, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND researching the PCV issues with GM products)** I posted reviews on multiple websites on 1/15 and that prompted Shane to reach out and ask me to remove them. Their resolution is to make a loan payment for me for the time that I was making payments but didn't have the vehicle in my possession (2 monthly payments, I will update if this happens) Below is the review of Bob Brown and his staff. ****** I bought a 2023 Chevy Blazer on 11/11/24 (it's still under full warranty). The SES light came on 12/7/24. I took the vehicle to O'Reilly's and had it scanned to see what was wrong before I called Bob Brown's. It scanned that it has an issue with the crankshaft sensor. I called BBs (Bob Brown's), told them what the scan said and made an appointment. They got my vehicle in on 12/18, and gave me a loaner. I left the scan sheet on the passenger seat so they could see it. When I picked up the car on 12/24 I asked what was fixed and the lady said "the purge pump was faulty". I don't know a whole lot about vehicles, I assumed that it was part of the crankshaft, and I left. By the time I got back to Altoona (about 15 miles away) the SES light was back on. I called BBs and let them know my SES light was back on. Per their request, I had my vehicle scanned again. The scan came back with the EXACT same code as 12/7. I called back and told them that it was the same thing that I just had it in for. They asked if I could return my vehicle again. I brought it back to BB on 12/27. On News Year's Eve BB called me and let me know that the plates on my loaner vehicle were going to expire January 1st (the next day), and that I needed to bring my loaner vehicle in that day to get new plates. I told him that there was a 100% chance that that wasn't happening, they had the entire year to plan this, and if they would have fixed it correctly the first time, I wouldn't have a loaner anymore. They did make arrangements to deliver the plates to my house after I questioned their lack of organization. Heads up, if you purchase from BB, they are unorganized and they do not listen to their customers. I guess I'm thankful that they discovered something else was wrong with my vehicle (the purge pump) so it was fixed. I would go out of my way to avoid BB for new or used vehicles. read more

The first person to help me was a very polite, professional lady, Brenda. The second person was Todd, again friendly and professional. While waiting for the problem to be fixed I noticed how the employees were professional with customers and each other. I had a warrant for three months when I first got it and before I even bought the car they said they would fix all the problems we found with the car... there where 5 codes that popped up and oil was everywhere on the engine... they CLAIMED that they cleaned it up when come to found out they didn't oil was EVERYWHERE IN THE ENGINE! Thank fully my mechanic found out there was a valve leak that has been happening for the last year. Do not buy used cars from them! Spoke to Joe about a 24 Chevrolet 2500HD on 2/20 in the evening came to a price and called the next morning about 8:00 am said I wanted the truck said I had to come from Kansas City MO gave him my info and went to the bank got the money told them I was going to be ther at 1:00 to pick up the truck was over half way there recieved a phone call said they sold the vehicle. Was advised to go to their service center and see if the could get the metal valve caps off the tire stems, they were stuck big time. I was originally quoted an amount, for all 4 valve stem replacements (if necessary) and it wasn't that bad so I said ok. They got me in right then and we waited less than an hour. They were able to get one metal cap off so only had to replace 3 stems. I was floored when the mechanic came out after and the cost was a $100 less!! All the employees we encountered there were very nice and helpful. I would highly recommend going there to service your Chevrolet and buy. read more

I never write Yelp reviews despite having an account for many years, but this customer service experience was so bad and I saw that they had such a low rating that I needed to share my experience. I had a recall on my car so I called them and they said they had to order the part. They never called when the part came in and I completely forgot about it. Then six months later I remembered it and called them and they said the part came in and had been sitting on their shelf. Anyway we make the appointment to get it fixed and I took it in yesterday at 8AM and waited all day for them to call me. It is now 24 hours later today at 8AM so I decided to call them. My car was ready yesterday afternoon. So if you are doing business with them, stay on top of them!! They will not get back to you on their own. You have to initiate the conversation unfortunately. I purchased my vehicle new from this dealership in 2020. I have always taken it back for their very expensive oil changes, maintenance, and $1,800 on new tires. Recently, it had an issue recognizing when it was in park (a known problem by GM) and I needed to get that fixed asap. I called Bob Brown and they said they couldn't get me in for 8 days! Seriously? This is my only vehicle and I can't be without transportation that long. They offered nothing. I called Shottenkirk in Waukee and they got me in the next morning and it was fixed that afternoon. Oil change service is horribly slow with employees that have no sense of urgency and often times look like they don't have any experience or know what they are doing. Last time I was here I watched approximately half their employees just stand around and chit chat the whole time I was in my Acadia getting my oil changed. Today I have been waiting the 1.5 hours they told me only to still be several cars away from getting in while most of the employees in the garage are sitting down or standing there doing nothing. read more

I stopped by at 8 AM on Tuesday for a quick oil change. They do not require appointments! I waited around 10 minutes and then they got me in quickly. They handled my fleet service well, not all places do! My only critique is that I I appreciate having a sticker on my windshield to remind me when to come back. Made an appointment for an oil change and then they had me go to their "quick lube" which had an hour wait. Nothing "Quick" about it. I already had an appointment, huh? No where near the level of service expected. The whole Quick Lube service is a joke - no waiting area, no customer service, no coffee, snacks. If you are going to extend your brand experience to another building for a "quicker" service, then you need to expand the entire customer experience. I ended up getting hail damage late in august, I called Bob Brown and they got me in for an estimate over a month later and then scheduled me for repairs 6 weeks after the estimate was done. Once it came time for repairs, they kept pushing back the date is was completed. It was the end of November for the original completion date, then they pushed it back a week, then they said that Friday, then the next Tuesday and then I finally picked up that Wednesday. Estimate said it should've been done in 3 weeks, but was done in 5 1/2. The work that was done was done well, it's keeping the schedule of when it was supposed to be done is what irritated me. read more

I only went here because they took over Saturn of Des Moines. At Saturn I found great service and reasonable estimates for repairs; Bob Brown Chevrolet is nothing like Saturn. An oil change and an electrical issue with the turn signals turned into a long list of overpriced repairs that I was smart enough to decline. Also, I waited an extra unnecessary hour because they failed to let me know my car was ready. This was after waiting at the dealership already for just over 5 hours. The only way I found out it was ready was by asking the receptionist. When she checked the finished work slips she laughed and said it was placed in the wrong spot. No apology for the extra hour of waiting. Upon reviewing the service receipt, there was a free included 27-pt inspection, complimentary safety inspection, and car wash. I definitely didn't get the car wash, so I'm kind of thinking I probably didn't get the inspection either. No one was available to talk to me after the repairs, so none of my questions were answered. The only good thing Bob Brown Chevrolet has going for it currently (that I noticed) is the complimentary hot chocolate and wi-fi in the waiting area. Then again, that's pretty standard for any dealership these days. First impressions really do matter, especially when a considerable amount of money is involved. Totally agree with Alex K.'s review! I too am a Saturn owner that received the 4 free oil changes and tire rotations at Bob Brown. I went for the oil changes and was more and more disappointed each time I went. I had concerns about my car, probably minor but I wanted communication regardless, that were never answered or followed up on. It was basically, hi, what do you need. Give me your keys and go pay at receptionist. No one came to talk to you about your car or what they did to it. I was not impressed with the attitudes of the people that worked there. The receptionist was friendly but the guys who you pull up to at their stations were more bothered that you were there than helpful or eager for your business. It was off-putting. I had an alignment done and the guy on the phone was a complete dick. The alignment was done properly but didn't make me want to go back with that service. A couple of things that irked me. One: I swear to god they never ever rotated my tires. There was very uneven wear on the front tires compared to the back. I remember looking at the tread difference and going in and saying "I would like the tire rotation" which was due, and the tires were in the exact same spots. There was no tire rotation done. Not from front to back at least. Really crappy of them. Another thing that bothered me was the promise of complementary car washes. Well over the course of a year, whenever I went the car was was always broken. They said, oh come on by during the week and it should be fixed. Yeah right, over a whole year coming in at 4 random times and the thing doesn't work ever. Not about to come in during the week so I can wait for nothing. So, I've found another place to take my car and I'm very happy with them. I have a bad taste in my mouth from dealing with Bob Brown and won't be returning. I still get in the mail coupons trying to get me to trade in my Saturn and get a "deal" on a Chevy car at that location. Traveling across Iowa victim a intermittent thunderstorm on my way to Minneapolis. The windshield wiper on my brand new Chevrolet Equinox Broke. I pulled into a huge Chevrolet dealership, Brown Chevrolet to ask the service department to make a quick warranty fix and get me on my way The service department is so large it has its own greeter. I did not catch his name but he was delightful. He noticed that I was traveling from out of town and for my I was traveling through. He sees the problem with the windshield wiper and says he would get me connected and on my way as soon as possible . While we were chatting another guy came out and put protective covers on the upholstery. My greater then directed me to an official service writers who told me he couldn't look at my car for about 3 days. I explained it was a brand new car and I was just traveling through on my way to Minnesota. He clearly told me it would be Thursday and then he was still working on work that came in yesterday and could not possibly get anyone to take a look at my car. Explained once again that I was traveling through and it was raining and could he fit me in and he told me no. The service writer was Brad. I got in my car and started to leave. My greeter and two other guys wanted to know what I was doing and explained that it said no one could look at the car until Thursday. They asked me to play with the hood and get out of the car. Obviously embarrassed hre of three of them apologized and began operating on my car right in the middle of the service reception area. Before long Levi diagnosed the problem repaired the windshield wiper and said I should be good to go. Levi my gReader guy and another fellow by the name of daren were fantastic. If you ever get the chance to go to brown Chevrolet in Urbandale Iowa look those guys up. This dodge girl has gone Chevy! I went in on a Saturday evening withered and tired after a full day of dealing with slimy salesmen trying to take advantage of me at other dealerships. That's when I got friendly Eddie. Don't get me wrong Eddie was full of typical car salesmen lines at first like "I might lose my job for this one.", but he said them with a tone that we both knew was more on the comical side rather than the serious side. Once we started negotiating, Eddie brought in Robert the sales manager. Together they worked on getting a lease deal closer to my price range and what I was looking for, but it still wasn't exactly what I wanted to pay. So I left that night to do my research and come up with a number that would be fair for both of us. I worked with my dad (who has been in the auto industry for nearly 30 years) to put together a few pricing scenarios in which I would take a leasing deal. I stopped back in to see Eddie on Monday to discuss the options and boy did I make him work. Eddie and Robert were running (and I mean literally running) all around the dealership for roughly two and a half hours, as I changed and updated my negotiations multiple times and requested a copy of the contract to read prior to signing a purchase agreement. They went out of their way to help me even though I was definitely a pain in the neck. We eventually settled on a deal and I went back later that night (with freshly baked cookies!) to sign the papers and drive my beautiful new Malibu off into the sunset. I was given an estimate of approximately $2000 for repairs on my Escalade. My husband called for a second opinion and they quoted us a cheaper price. He then called Dennis to let him know. Overall I'm truly not happy with my purchase. The vehicle looked amazing in the photos, and the body damage was pretty well hidden. The trim around the windows was flapping in the wind my whole ride home. After a few washes there bull crap touch up paint started coming off. Whatever that is expected I guess when purchasing used cars. But they ran my credit like 20 times because they "forgot I was putting 4,000 down"! So they screwed my credit up for the year!! Then they didn't pay the taxes properly on the car, and now I'm getting letters for Illinois say that I owe them money, and it's accruing interest. I called them about it, and Pat Crane is acting like it's my problem! I don't get it, we had a deal. I paid my money and now I'm being told it's my problem lol.
