Wine is available in the lobby from 4 or 5 pm to midnight- just serve yourself. From 5-6 every night there was also some type of snack, for example, cheese plates and crackers. - The included breakfasts are really good for hotel breakfasts- it includes the typical spread of meats, breads and cheeses but also includes a warm cooking station where you can custom order omelets or pancakes or french toast (available 7 to 10:30AM). Awesome fresh squeezed orange juice and a coffee machine. -Location was key. It was close to so many restaurants, bars, the flower market. It was very close to a tram to Central station- just jump on the 24 line and take it to the end. You can even purchase tickets directly from the front desk. We did have an issue one day with the power going out, but they were doing construction further down the block and several buildings went out. I would go out of my way to stay at another Carlton Hotel collection (they have several) based upon my experience at the Banks Mansion Amsterdam location.

There's a lot of construction going on, so what seemed like a relatively simple walk turned into a lot of winding around construction zones, but it wasn't too hard to figure out. We checked in online before our arrival and had requested an early check-in, even willing to pay the (pretty steep) fee. When we arrived we were told that early check-in would not be possible and that our accommodations wouldn't be ready for 3 more hours. Had it just been adults, that would have been fine, but a crying baby after a long day of travel and a lot of luggage made it quite tough to hear. But, we had no choice but to shuffle things around and get ready to start our exploring. They said they would try to get it done sooner and would call once it was ready, but we didn't even get a call until over 3 hours later. The apartment was nice though and they had a nice baby bed available as well as a high chair. There was plenty of room for our little one to explore and a kitchen to make mealtimes easier. The shower was a little weird, but we've also experienced weirder. The breakfast bag was nothing to write home about. They did apologize for the early check-in issues and offered a late check-out, but we had to depart early.

Located within 5 minutes walk from the rail station, this boutique apartment is in a prime location for sightseeing within the city. The closest UBahn station is within a few minutes' walk, and there are a variety of restaurants and bakeries within steps from the hotel. The hotel is an apartment style housing, where the reception office is open during regular business hours. If you book directly through its website, a small continental breakfast is included in your daily stay. There are no amenities, such as gym or saunas, within the building. As for the room, each apartment has a kitchen, washer/dryer, cooking supplies, and coffee maker. We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment, and we found our unit very spacious and comfortable. Within our unit, we do not hear any street noise in the evening. However, the mattress felt hard and lopsided, which didn't provide the most comfortable rest. Our room rate was around $360 a night, which was very reasonable for a 2 bedroom apartment. Recommend if you are looking for good location and homestyle living!

One thing prospective guests should be aware of is the noise level. Due to the age and construction of the historic buildings, sound insulation is virtually nonexistent. We could easily hear noise from neighboring rooms and hallways, so light sleepers may want to bring earplugs or consider another option. They are also not stingy with giving out bottles of water (the tap water is safe there, but nice to have environmentally friendly bottles for wandering during the day). Social hour from 4-5 is nice, though I wish they had more variety in the choices. On one of the super hot days, they were handing out ice cream as people returned from the heat of the day. The bathroom is complete with toiletries. They offer free breakfast. The only downside is that the room didn't have a fridge. But the most important part is the location anyway. I definitely recommend this hotel if you're in Amsterdam.

Everyone I interacted with there was professional, helpful, and friendly. Unfortunately, the good service at the front desk didn't extend to the rest of the hotel. The bar and Lotti's restaurant were both consistently understaffed, and the service was extremely slow. Lotti's also seemed to be out of a lot of the main dishes, even though the menu is already pretty limited. As for the rooms, they were okay, but felt a little worn and could really use some updating. Nothing terrible, but for what the hotel charges, I think you should be able to expect a bit more comfort and quality. After checking out the W Hotel nearby, which was much nicer for a similar price, I couldn't help but feel disappointed. For nearly $4500 after taxes for three nights in two rooms at the Hoxton, I honestly felt a bit cheated. Again, the front desk team deserves credit, but overall, I think the Hoxton needs to step up its game to justify these rates.
