Had a really lovely stay here and would highly recommend it for anyone visiting Amsterdam. This hotel is beyond charming! The rooms have great canal views and taking the boat tour via the hotel is an absolute must (59 euros). Winston Churchill even traveled on the boat and it was a nice more private way to experience the history of the canals. Tony, the captain, was great. Service here is definitely 5 star, very friendly and accommodating. Sophia at the front desk was wonderful. Breakfast was included in my stay with Amex, but if yours isn't, I'd recommend somewhere outside the hotel for more of a selection. The concierge service was excellent and helped me with a number of recommendations that were all wonderful. Bonus they are available 7am-11pm! I wish I had a longer stay and will have to try the spa on my next visit. I had one issue at the end of my stay where a male housekeeper let himself in my room after only a brief knock and didn't wait for a response to open the door. Just a good reminder for any traveler to keep the locks bolted when in your room.

I love this hotel. It is approachable and sophisticated, yet fun. The decor is lively and inviting, not the staid, muted tones you so often see in hotels. We had a one bedroom suite that overlooked the canal. It was perfect for our family of three, as can be seen in the accompanying pictures. They put a comfortable rollaway by the window overlooking the canal for my daughter. She loved the view! The drapes were blackout, so the large windows allowed her to sleep as late as needed. I would be doing fellow readers a disservice were I not to mention the food. Everything we ate was delicious, even the toast. Especially the toast. I honestly should have taken a loaf home with me. The Apple strudel was so good that we ordered it multiple times during the week and refused to share with one another. There are a couple of areas to eat, along with two bars. Alas, I cannot speak to any sort of workout rooms. The walking we did was enough to help us work off all the treats. We sent out laundry multiple times and were pleased with how everything was handled. The housekeeping staff did a very thorough job with keeping our room spotless. They even replaced the stroopwaffles whenever we would get low. The location of the hotel cannot be beat. Do yourself a favor and get some pastries around the corner at Bussia. The sun bun is heaven. There's great retail therapy, restaurants, and museums within walking distance. We will absolutely stay here again when we are back in Amsterdam.

Fantastic service and the room was great! very clean and Concierge staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. Ron went the extra mile and gave us a private informative tour of the historic grounds!!!

I recently stayed at the Pulitzer Hotel in Amsterdam. It is a tremendous property. It spans almost a whole city block and is composed of numerous townhouses connected together over the years. You can wander around the halls and the gardens and get a feel for how the houses all fit together. The staff is amazing - from the bell caps who greet you at the front door, to the checkin folks, the concierge and the folks at the lobby bar and Pulitzer Garden restaurant, everyone is courteous and helpful. The rooms are a nice size with new modern bathrooms. It's a great hotel and I had a great stay.

I'd stayed here a number of years ago when it was still a part of SPG/Starwood. I had stayed in a room with a courtyard view then. ROOM: We stayed here for 4 nights and booked through Citi Prestige's travel services (google it and you'd understand why). We had the Classic Queen Canal View Room and it faced the canal at the back of the hotel. Loved the room, decor, the free coffee, stroopwafels, and the Le Labo Santal toiletries. The room was pretty quiet despite being on the 2nd floor (I think). Only quip is the queen sized bed felt small, definitely not a US queen size. The lighting was great. I couldn't help but thinking the church bells we heard, Anne Frank would've heard too. It was a bit of a walk to get from our room to the front entrance but it was easy to figure out. If you have accessibility concerns, you should let the front desk know before you get your room key. LOBBY: Love the decor. Very nicely decorated. If you are a fan of Anthropologie, you would like it here. FRONT DESK/CONCIERGE: No complaints here. I did reach out to the concierge beforehand and booked the canal tour but ended up cancelling. If you want to spend more on Wow experiences, they definitely had a lot of suggestions for those. LOCATION: I wouldn't say it's centrally located but it's close enough to walk to the train station (or you can jump on the bus) and the museums. And it's really close to the Anne Frank house. You can't dismiss the quaintness of staying on the canals in this area. There are also a ton of boutiques nearby. The public transportation system was relatively easy to figure out. We only used Uber/cars for the airport. FOOD: There is a cafe which is really convenient for a quick bite or grab and go. We got coffee here to go. One night we were exhausted and resorted to Jansz for dinner. When we called down to ask if the restaurant had availability, the front desk told us no. So, we walked down to the restaurant to ask and they sat us right away. Food was ok, and the clientele was mostly American like us, but compared to the other places we ate at, I would suggest you explore the other options. Would I stay here again? I think I will explore the other lodging options next time - there are so many good ones here!

This is a charming boutique hotel in the 9 streets. It is overlooking the canal. It is within walking distance to the Anne Frank House, which is a bonus. There are a lot of local shops and restaurants in the area as well, which makes it a convenient location. TIP: There's a church nearby which rings its bells every half hour. The bell rings can be heard inside the hotel rooms. Bring noise-canceling headphones. They have very attentive front and restaurant staff. TIP: They have free water-still and sparkling-at the porters' desk. They have a nice bar and restaurant-Jansz-although they are a bit on the pricey side but could be expected to be in the area. Breakfast at Pause though is more reasonable. TIP: If you're planning on eating buffet at the hotel, prepay at the front desk. You'll save ~ 7€. The accommodations are relatively reasonable. The bed is comfortable. The sheets are soft. I wish they had more, and bigger pillows, but that is more of a personal preference. Also, the towels could be thicker and more fluffy, but that again is a matter of preference. Overall, I would highly recommend the Pulitzer. I would stay here again should I return to Amsterdam.

It hadn't changed since Mata Hari (First World War female spy) had stayed there. As we were visiting Amsterdam again I decided, on this trip, to spoil us a little. On booking I was a little concerned that the Hard Rock organisation had taken this hotel over. So with trepidation I took the chance. OK, remember, we are oldies so can be hard to please some tell us. On arrival, the outside hadn't changed other than the bar now stretched out a little and there was service from the restaurant outside. Reception was so swift by a fantastic bubbly young lady who sorted out a room although we were three hours before the normal signing in. I wish I could remember her name. Walking to our room I noticed the architecture hadn't changed but the decoration was wonderful with so much rock music memorabilia. We LOVED it. The room, overlooking the canal, was a lot smaller than years ago but, shrug, space has to be filled. The room was more than adequate with a wonderful bathroom with walk-in shower. Breakfast was in the dining hall which was a high-light years ago. I was so pleased to see that none of the wonderful art deco had been lost. The President Hotel in Prague had ripped it all out there, sob. Here, there was modernisation, but the windows, walls and lights remained. Obviously the designer had looked and thought 'wow, we can't get rid of this'. Good on him/her. A fantastic stay and on our next visit we know where to stay. Really wish I could remember that young ladies name because she made that day for us. Hi

As soon as my cab stopped in front, a man immediately came down the stairs to help me with my bag and escort me to the check in area. They asked if I wanted anything to drink and I said of course champagne! They gave me two! I checked in with Lisa who was amazing! She had me pick out a scent for my room. What? I didn't know that existed! Super fun! My room wasn't ready because I had booked late even though it was 3pm but I didn't mind waiting, especially when they gave me that 2nd glass of champagne. When I got my room, Lisa and Fae escorted me to the room to make sure I liked it and it was beautiful. I loved how the light came into the bathroom. On that note the bathtub was so nice I almost fell asleep in it! You receive welcome chocolates in the shape of Amsterdam shoes which were so cute and delicious! I ordered room service as the bar only served snacks and did not want to go to the restaurant by myself as it was really open. I got the Waldorf Astoria Burger which was amazing and so good! I'd go back to this hotel just for that burger itself. The next day I also had the breakfast and was able to get the whole tray of assortments and all the juices and coffee I wanted PLUS another dish! All complimentary with my Hilton Diamond status. I ordered the French toast and everything was delicious! Obviously I couldn't eat it all but was able to take some left to the room for later. I also had a spa appointment while here. Massage was great and the masseuse mentioned to see a physical therapist to help my lower back pain that I was complaining about as she said it was coming from my glutes, legs, knees. I've seen a couple of masseuses in the last two years in the states and one in Canada and NONE had ever even mentioned that that could help. I love this! Very professional staff. The spa also very serene with sauna, jacuzzi, and pool. They have a door to the garden which I'm assuming is beautiful in summer but I was here in February so it was freezing! When I checked out it was with Lisa again and she was great as usual and the guys helped me with my bags again when my uber came. They let me sit in the other room and said they'd let me know when it was here. Very nice. I did not want to leave. Haha!

You Get What You Pay For…read more I bartended for Hard Rock Cafe for 12 years. I love rock and roll, so when I saw this hotel it definitely jumped out at me. I will list the positives first since there are not that many: 1. The dayshift employee (cannot remember his name) was a very nice man. He recommended great vegan restaurants and was super cool. We actually ate at his recommendations for the remainder of our stay. He booked our taxi for us the night before our departure and was very hospitable. 2. The hotel lobby is set up like a bar/lounge with a pool table and it's cozy. 3. I liked the use of musical instruments such as a drum stool for a chair in the room and the drum light fixtures in the room. It adds to the theme of the hotel. 4. It was walking distance to a lot of cool places. Negatives: 1. Amsterdam is an old city with cute old buildings. I get it. We stayed at another hotel which was also an old building (and had a very slow elevator; but still had an elevator). This hotel had nearly 90-degree stairs to carry 50 lb. luggage up four flights of stairs (we called them ladders). I could not imagine anyone with a disability or elderly ever staying there for their safety. Literally, the stairs were about 4 inches wide. I slipped on them. sober. 2. The clients mostly consisted of younger hipsters that we could hear stumbling in at night after drinks and the walls are paper thin. We even heard someone fart in the next room. 3. To drown out the noise of the other clients, my partner and I used a rain app on our smartphone so that we could get some sleep (let me add that it was currently pouring outside). We get a loud knock on our door, waking us at two o'clock in the morning by the nightshift employee, telling us to turn the rain sound down. This woke us up and we were literally trying to book a room at two o'clock in the morning at a different hotel due to his unprofessionalism. It's like, how about telling the clients that are actually making the noise to be more quiet? If you are a young and do not mind the paper-thin walls and the ladder stairs, the disgruntled night shift employee that patrols the halls for noise, and have minimal luggage, then I would recommend this place for the location. Otherwise, stay somewhere else.
