Stayed here over the holidays and it was the perfect home base for exploring Amsterdam. The location is incredibly convenient--steps from trams and buses, close to the major museums, and within walking distance of high-end shopping like Chanel, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton. The hotel is very family-friendly, which made traveling with kids easy and stress-free. One of the biggest perks was the M Club Lounge, which offers daily breakfast and a comfortable space to recharge between sightseeing. Service was excellent from the start--we arrived early after an overnight flight and were pleasantly surprised to be checked in early, which made a huge difference after traveling. Clean rooms, great amenities, and an unbeatable location. Would absolutely stay here again, especially for a family trip or a holiday visit to Amsterdam. read more

Rooms: + Nicely appointed, with everything in tip top shape. + Our room was at the end of a hallway, with an entry foyer, so we heard no noise from the hallway. However, during our stay, a guest in another room opened their door because they could hear people waiting on the elevator. Service: + Everyone is well-trained. Anytime a minor hiccup arose (room was not serviced one day), it was quickly addressed. Elite recognition: + No major upgrades available (NUA denied). Fully sold out hotel during our stay. + M Club Lounge was very nice. Had some of the longest breakfast hours I have seen (6-11am), but was essentially the same thing each morning. It got busy during evening hours (5:30-7:30pm), with some minor variation in food. Overall, I thought this Marriott was good. I was able to check in early and that was great. My room was decent but definitely need to re do and upgrade the bathroom because it was peeling in the tub and just overall need an upgrade. My room door was hard to push open as well so it took me 2mins each time to enter the room. The amenities were great as well. read more

We arrived very early and were still able to have a room right away which was much appreciated after a transatlantic flight. Rooms were comfortable with typical Marriott bedding which is always appreciated in the road. Overall room cleanliness was decent. Probably the reason 4 and not a 5. Had one day we were out all day and the room was missed entirely. Concierge was very helpful with restaurant selections and assisting with help on public transport when in town as well as getting us a taxi on departure. Very easy location to walk around town in the canal district and very short walk to the very convenient trams in the city. Despite the snafus we would definitely stay here again if visiting Amsterdam again. read more

My parents and I stayed at Amsterdam Marriott Hotel from 6/1/24 to 6/3/24 on our final stop of our two-week long European trip. I was in room 1152 and my parents were in room 1135. Since my parents are Marriott Bonvoy members, both of our rooms were upgraded and we also had access to the M Club Lounge, but we only went for their desserts and light snacks. Not sure how this hotel is rated 4 or 5 stars, it's closer to a 2 to 3 star motel or maybe a 4 star hotel in 1980s Cold War Eastern Europe. Moldy odorous hallway, scuffed walls and popcorn ceiling in-room; lint on pillow and blond hair on bath towel upon check-in (I'm not blonde), shower gel ran out the first night, sandpaper toilet paper, someone's leftover clothing tag on the shelf, shower that sounds like a lawnmower with issues, people screaming in the hallway at 3am. My Marriott status and corporate booking was supposed to provide a higher floor room with a view and breakfast--breakfast was not included even though it should have been, which wasn't a big deal since I ended up paying with my company card, but I'm attaching a photo of my "higher floor room with a view" for others to get jealous over (spoiler, it was second floor with a view of the roof and scaffolding). The only positive is the location, but then again you could also sleep outside in the vicinity. read more

The moment we walked in through the doors, we experienced nothing but new friends. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Adrian. This would not be our only interaction with Adrian and trust me it gets better. Back in our trip in November, there was some renovations occurring. We were able to check-in early and promptly. The wait was less than 10 minutes, and mind you, this was in the afternoon. The front desk was so accommodating and all the patrons in the line were at ease and attended to. Working in hospitality myself, I know how the environment can be high stress at times. My sister and I checked into our room and it was spacious and clean. I did not realize that the room would have a lounge area which was an added bonus as well as a mini-fridge. The next day as we were checking out, I was surprised and delighted to know that Adrian had recognized me. He had mentioned if I had enjoyed the cupcakes he had seen me check-in with and I laughed. What a difference it makes to be seen. He politely asked if I needed my bags brought down and I said I would call. Of course I did not call because I noticed they were extremely busy. When I came back down with my bags, Adrian checked in with me and asked if I was the one who just called about my bags. I extended my gratitude and said it was not me. The team allowed us to leave our bags with them as my sister and I continued to explore the city before leaving. Upon our final departure of the hotel, Urdo, the Head of Concierge, asked if we needed anything else. We said thank you and said we were headed on our way to Paris. Urdo was so kind to share with us a few recommendations for our final evening in Paris (which we did enjoy). I am finding any excuse to return to Amsterdam and visiting the team again. We checked into room 543 for 5 nights. Our room has a safe, Nespresso, teapot, iron & smart television. The air conditioning was very cool, we appreciated the water pressure & our room was quiet. Our shower has 1/2 door and the bathroom gets pretty wet. A dim nightlight would have been appreciated. Olga, the concierge was very informative and helpful. She helped us organize our time, gave us a map and made recommendations. Kayla was personable, efficient & very helpful, she answered all of our questions, and surprise me with a tin of delicious Stroopwafels when we left. We have a complimentary breakfast daily from 6:30 until 11 am & evening bites from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the M Club. Breakfast yogurts, cheeses, gravlax, breads, juices, scrambled eggs & potatoes were delicious. The evening bites were lovely. Salad, soup, candy, cheeses, spreads, nuts, chicken skewers, potatoes, wines, beer, sodas... were beautifully presented. Staff kept the tables cleared and foods neat & replenished. The fitness room has ellipticals, treadmills & free weights. With €7 we purchased tokens to use the washer & dryer with soap on the 2nd floor. The laundry room was clean, I could set machines in English, had various cycles to choose from & they were easy to use. read more

We stayed here 2 nights in their Balcony Executive Suite. The check-in line was super long, but it was worth it. The room was very specious, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was well designed. But I loved the balcony! Absolutely fell in love with the view from the room!! Another huge plus point for us was the location of the hotel...every tourist spots were almost in walking distance. The M Club Lounge was wonderful! most importantly, the room was very clean and the insured that no animal had slept in it recently. Although quite pricey for the week and a half we stayed there, but everything went well. It's an American sized hotel room and bathroom in the European city where those are usually smaller. Housekeeping was very attentive. Even though we kept irregular hours, they would come clean the room whenever. It looked like it had a wonderful restaurant and bar, but we didn't try that. The location of the hotel is very good -adjacent to the museum district. All the hotel staff were cheerful and overly friendly if anything. they flawlessly arranged for our drive back to the airport. We stayed at the Amsterdam Marriott for five nights on our recent trip. We had reserved a room with two queen beds and we were given a large room on the top floor. Our room featured windows on both the front and the back of the room which let in a lot of light. The bathroom was adequate size and featured a tub and shower combination. The beds were comfy. And everyone at the hotel was very nice. Check-in was easy. Everyone at the M lounge was very kind. The food available in the M lounge was good. I really wish they had peach iced tea in the M lounge but that's just my preference. They only had sparkling iced tea. As a Elite member, I was greeted warmly at check-in and found a note and small snack and souvenir in our room. We were also left small gifts every day which was above and beyond nice. While we were there, the hotel was celebrating their 50th anniversary and they were serving fresh made stroopwaffles in the lobby. There was some minor construction going on at the property while we were there but nothing really distracted from our stay in anyway. The concierge was helpful both during and before our stay. They gave me advice regarding transportation options in the city and restaurants and dining. The location was excellent. There was a bus directly to/from the airport right in front of the hotel. The Leidesplein tram stop was only a block away. Vondelpark, Van Gogh, and Rijksmuseum were very walkable. Overall, I would definitely stay here again. read more

We stayed here for 5 nights. We walked over here from Amsterdam Centraal Station. It was a bit of a trek. One reviewer said there was a urine smell in the bathroom. I smelled it also. I believe it was because of the solution in the toilet tank and urine. They use an aerator in the sink. Lots of plastic water bottle use in the hotel. They should just provide tap water. They don't provide change for euros. We had to find change to leave for housekeeping. For a hotel of this size, they should provide this service. It wasn't a bad hotel. The Amsterdam Marriott is very modern and centrally located. It is literally just a short ten minute walk to all the museums; or a ten minute Über ride from the Anne Frank Huis. We found the rooms to be spacious (photos), up to date and very clean. We also had access to their M Club Lounge (thanks to Bonvoy Gold Plus Level) for breakfast, or a late day appetizer and drinks (photos). They have a nice retail shop on the first level, which contains collectibles (photos), as well as touristy souvenirs. Their house restaurant and bar Sorel's is first rate (see review and photos). If you are tired after you arrive, then you'll find it is a nice oasis to relax and have a meal or drink. All the rooms have US and European electrical adapters, so if you forgot yours, don't worry they got you covered. Btw, when we arrived in Amsterdam, they were in the middle of a period of high humidity and light rain. But don't worry, their AC made our room feel like a freezer. Nice! read more

Located in a great spot in Amsterdam, it is close to a lot of attractions. I had visited on business a bit ago, and had good memories, so wanted to bring the family here this time. This time, the stay was OK. The lobby is small, and usually there are lines for the front desk. There was no problems with communication, and our room was ready as promised. It's an older hotel (not historical, just old), with rooms that could definitely use some updating. We needed a room for 3, so got the 'family' room...which basically is just like a double...so it was a bit cramped. The bathroom had a tub, but is really meant to shower. The tub floor was a bit slippery when wet (couple times we had close call of slipping inadvertenly). There is a nice flat screen TV with a lot of different channels (many of them in English), and a breakfast nook with coffee maker and a small refrigerator. My experience was based on us being elite status with Marriott, which grants us free access to the lounge (M lounge). This really made the stay worthwhile. They serve a really nice breakfast in the morning, and have a nice happy hour service in the late afternoon. Various alcohol is offered, and and some hot options (e.g. meaty beef skewers...enough to make dinner out of it). They also have a section where you can create a 'cone' of snacks like nuts, gummy candy. So if you are higher status with Marriott, this might be worth staying for those benefits, but if you are not, would definitely look elsewhere...it's not worth 400 euros per night. read more

Stayed here for a few nights while vacationing in Amsterdam. All of the staff we encountered were super friendly and helpful. Our room was great. Bigger than I expected. We were on the 5th floor and hardly heard any noise from outside...was pretty shocked. The beds were comfy. The shower pressure was OK, but overall, the room itself was fine and spacious. I like how it had a mini fridge in the room and included 2 bottles of water. I don't drink coffee but the room had a coffee machine/Nespresso type of maker with some pods? I enjoyed the restaurant on the property that we had the breakfast buffet in. DELICIOUS food. Really good eggs, juices, smoothies, cheese/meat platters, assortment of breads, bacon, sausage, etc. I thought for the price this was a great deal. You could also get a custom omelet made. The hotel had a small gift shop on the property which was a nice touch. Location of the hotel was perfect for walking to restaurants, stores, canals, etc. I would highly recommend staying here if you're planning to visit Amsterdam. Felt safe here and it was an enjoyable stay. read more

It is interesting how Marriott (except JW) and Sheraton are middle of the road brands in the US but are much nicer in in EU. This is a very nice hotel in the heart of Amsterdam right by the Rijks museum and the canals. The staff were super nice, they offered water to all the folks who were waiting to be checked in. Very central to museums and one of the main shopping streets. Hotel has bar and a nice restaurant for breakfast. In fact, don't look elsewhere for breakfast including the "highly" rated Pancake club directly across the street (not good or worth it.). Marriott breakfast is really good and ala cart menu a great deal (and American style poured coffee ). Natalio at the front desk was incredibly helpful in numerous instances, he personalized our stay. One thing hotel does have to work on is picking up trays and pizza boxes, glasses, etc people leave outside their doors for pickup. These items can remain there for days, very strange. Very disappointed in this hotel. Wasn't my top pick. We booked last minute from Brussels and this was all that was available. Room (534) had a constant smell of urine. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from - my suspicion is they mopped the bathroom and bedroom with the same wet urine mop on the nasty worn rug, which has since dried of a urine smell. We are adults without any male children so unsure how else that would happen?? I usually receive a complimentary upgrade due to my status and when I inquired, I was told we would be charged 150 euro. Ridiculous as I've stayed at Kimpinski's for majority of this trip through Europe and was automatically upgraded prior to my arrival at those stellar hotels. When we checked in, there was a tray of food still outside of our door (Left from the night prior) and wasn't removed until at least 6 hours later. Also disappointing was the bar/restaurant. Chicken satay was undercooked and had a very limited menu. The fitness center is open to the public - so be aware if you are on a schedule as it gets busy. Only positive is the location. Always a friendly greeting when arriving back from a full day of touring Beautiful Amsterdam, eager to please employees and though we did have 1-2 snafus while here, they did everything to make it right. Visited this hotel last month during a layover in Amsterdam. The location is great, and you are in close proximity to public transportation, the canal, restaurants & bars, and museums. Our room seemed smallish relative to US standards, but was clean. We found the staff to be pleasant and all seemed to speak english. A highlight is the executive lounge which is great for breakfast, and even better for happy hour! In addition to drinks, the hors d'oeuvres were very good. Will likely revisit next time. read more

The hotel is ok. The room towards road side/ metro are extremely noisy. Needed to change in a mid night of next day. The room I switched to was not clean but anyway I accepted it to get my sleep. The water takes years to turn warm, I am sure by then you are already shivering. The safety box in the room was broken. That always scared me to leave my belongings back in the room. Bar and restaurants were great. Breakfast and service were pretty awesome. Location is the best bet for your money! read more

This is a great hotel for Americans visiting Amsterdam - especially first-time visitors. It's definitely a Marriott, has a familiarly, and people traveling abroad will feel comfortable. As English is frequently spoken in Amsterdam, you'll find the staff is fluent in English. The rooms are clean - a little small. But it's fine and lovely. The hotel is located in a very convenient spot. You are very near the Rijksmuseum - in fact, many museums.. There are lots of local cafes and restaurants - and also the a Hard Rock Hotel and all the touristy things that come with that. There's a bicycle rental place next to the hotel, so you can rent a bike and join the many people who get around Amsterdam by bicycle. There's also an ATM directly outside the hotel and a bank nearby - so I would recommend Americans not worry about currency exchange, if at all possible. I was in Amsterdam for a conference and my wife and daughter decided to fly in for a conference so we could celebrate our wedding anniversary there. I was at the Amsterdam Marriott and decided to extend the reservation by one extra day. ON the 24th of July when we try to check in (me, wife and our 10-year daughter) into a Deluxe room that we had already booked at the Marriott, we are told by the front desk staff that we need to book an additional room as the hotel property does not allow 3 guests in the deluxe room with a king bed reservation. They also said that the hotel was fully booked an no additional rooms were available. I insisted that that would not be an option, as we could not possibly leave a 10-year-old in a room by herself (even if a room was available). The front desk staff were very rude and said if that is the case we can "leave the property". I asked them to check with the property manager (someone by the name of Renee van Liempt, who refused to come out of her office) and insisted that either we book another room or leave. At this point, my wife was very upset as we would need to find an alternate hotel and would miss our anniversary dinner reservation. We ended up staying at the Hilton Amsterdam in a similar deluxe room(where they were kind enough to accommodate our 10 year old in a pull out bed). ON our return to the US, I contacted The Marriott Customer help line number so this does not happen to any of the customers in the future. I immediately get more mails from Renee saying that it was our fault and if we are not comfortable with our child sleeping in a hotel room by herself then it was our problem. I replied to her and got an additional email saying the same thing again. At this point we did not wish to deal with her or her rudeness anymore and the matter was escalated to Marriott Office of Consumer Affairs and Maria De Cano in that office is claiming that she has been trying to reach out to me my email and phone and I haven't received a single Phone call from her yet and no chance of any resolution of this matter. I am appalled by how Marriott is treating the matter and I would certainly not be staying in any Marriott property in the future (if that even matters to them). BUT WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW ABOUT THE AMSTERDAM MARRIOTT AND THEIR SHOCKING BEHAVIOR BEFORE THEY BOOK A STAY HERE. read more

The most uncomfortable hotel stay. There is no place to put clothes. No chest no desk for writing. Everything must go on the floor. No closet, just a metal rod. The only outlet for electronics is at floor level. I had to turn over a trash bib to have a bedside place for glasses and a book. When I complained I was told all rooms are the same. Stayed here for 5 nights, this hotel is located in an awesome spot, you can walk to pretty much everything. I took an uber from the airport and it was only $22 Euros, so easy to get too. I stayed in one of the new rooms, some people had complained it was "too modern" but I thought it was great. The lounge had amazing food for breakfast and in the evening. The staff here was also super nice and was willing to help you with anything. If you are visiting Amsterdam, this is the place to be. read more

If the Amsterdam Marriott Hotel was a concubine of Lord William of Orange you'd be satisfied to know your freedoms were limited to the best filet mignon in Amsterdam while finishing your drinks at 2000 because a la carte communist staff always pairs well with a chugged glass of Merlot before the brown shirts come to fine you thousands of euro before the drinking curfew. If succumbing to the powers at be is your thing then pay your bill in individual liberties while enjoying the best steak in town. Btw. Everyone else sucks but Claudia is dope AF. This hotel was a lifesaver! On our way from Copenhagen to Atlanta, we got stuck in Amsterdam due to power issues at the airport (AMS), there were only a few hotels with vacancies by the time we needed a hotel and thank goodness for this property! It is right downtown, 15 mins from airport and the rooms are comfy, clean, stylish, and the people are incredible! The breakfast buffet is UNBELIEVABLE! (See pictures) People complaining about the expense clearly haven't experienced it yet! I would have gladly paid 50 euros for the pastries and coffee alone! The buffet in only 29 for the WHOLE thing, and if you reserve the night before it's just 22 euros! Really worth it for all the options! The gym is incredible... really a nice touch! (See pictures) As we didn't have our baggage, I had no sports bra so I didn't get to use it BUT it is gorgeous and has ample options for getting your workout in! It is right next to the Leidseplein stops for the Tram and Bus, so extremely easy access to around Amsterdam and connecting trains to other location and a simple bus ride from the airport. ~ 7 minute walk to the Museumplein area and ~ 2 minutes to Vondelpark. If you are looking for Starbucks, it's right up the street, as well one of the more touristy popular coffeeshop Blue Dog locations. +M Lounge- Rather nice, when not packed lounge. Free drinks (sodas/ maybe some beers in the small fridges and a coffee machine) through out the day. Decent breakfast and night time food spreads. + Decent restaurant and bar onsite if you don't feel like venturing out for food or battling jet lag / the affects of time change, though expect to pay a bit more. + Usually have been pretty successful with a decent upgrade during my stays + Nice clean modern rooms that provide a relaxing rest. They are on the larger side and have been recently refreshed + If you haven't walked or biked enough during your time, the gym is not your standard one or two treadmills/ellipticals that may or may not have free weights. +Shower Height - Yeah for no ducking!! + Decent Wifi Con's: - Especially during peak season ( May - Late August) this place gets packed. It is a very popular hotel for people departing on cruises (Celebrity has used it as their pre/post departure stays). The lobby can get slammed with people waiting to check in early. - The Lounge can get pack and overcapacity during breakfast. They have seated me in the actual restaurant and fee for the buffett (same food as lounge) was waived. - The elevators can be a bit slow/packed, especially during check in/check out time. Since we are rewards members this place was a no brainer. The location is ideal to walk to many eateries. If you're a platinum member you've hit Nirvana because they have a lounge for you to sit and eat, unlike the busy packed lobby. Hotel check in was friendly and quick. Our bags were held while our rooms were being cleaned. The hotel had a nice size mini bar with lots of snacks which were so much appreciated. We had some drinks and snacks in the lounge so if you're too tired to go out sit and enjoy a meal here. A gym is on sight, but honestly, we walked 100 miles the last thing I want to do is workout.
