I was recently going to Blush in Cranford and working specifically with Diana. She was doing an amazing glaze on my hair and in conversation we had talked about extensions and how she put them in to grow at her bob. I also currently have a bob and was looking for a more fun way to grow it out. I ultimately decided to have the extensions put in. They were fine to begin with. The cut that she gave me was terrible, it was like I had a mullet, super heavy in the back and just about no hair on the sides, other than my own. It was impossible to style without it looking like I clearly had poorly installed extensions. I had to go back twice. One of the clips was sticking in my scalp behind my ear. She fixed it, then I had to go back again because the bottom track was coming completely undone. About a week and a half later the entire bottom row came completely out. I had to remove all the extensions myself because it just looked ridiculous. Almost $1000 between product, installation, glaze on the extensions (that didn't need it) and a cut and blowout. I messaged them to cancel future appointments and let them know what had happened. Of course they wanted me to come in to fix it, but at that point I had already taken them out and have a terrible taste in my mouth about the entire experience. At the very least, they should've offered me some money back for my troubles...they didn't. I definitely will not be going back and definitely will not be referring them to anyone. read more

Gabby is incredible and I LOVE how she treated my hair. Long review and Details..... I've been getting my blonde hair done for over 15 years so have been to tons of salons, seen many stylists, and have had every technique under the sun done to my hair during blonding sessions. When you've had this much experience getting hair done there are certain things you look for that really set apart some stylists from the rest. Two of the main things which I really appreciated from Gabby during my babylight session was that 1) she took out the beginning foils about halfway through her foiling [when you have thick hair or are getting lots of foils this is almost always a necessity to avoid over processing in the starting sections] and 2) she took me back to the chair to properly give my shadow root, during which she was super meticulous to leave out the money piece section until the end [lots of stylists will have you hover over the shampoo bowl uncomfortably while they slap the toner on]. It's little things like these that build my trust in a stylist and I VERY much appreciated. I'm picky and am usually one and done with most salons when trying somewhere new because I'll walk out with splotchy spots or overprocessed/overtoned hair [don't even get me started on my horror show of an appointment at Cranford's Hair Studio 924]. I can say I'm confident I found my forever hair home at Blush. Other things which didn't affect my hair specifically but made a great experience was that Gabby is also one cool chick. She wasn't overly chatty (bless these stylists for working and talking in masks all day) but just enough to be friendly and avoid too long of silence. The salon is adorable and could be pictured in an anthropologie magazine. Chalk it up to the quarantine rules [less people = more personal hair attention], relief of finally being rid of quarantine hair [I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror], but everything about my visit was wonderful and I left one very happy customer! I have been going to/following Jessie Leigh,the Owner of Blush, to get my hair done for about 10 years now and I would never ever trust ANYONE else with my hair (unless she told me to #Church!!!). All kidding aside, the first time Jessie cut and colored my hair it was just the best experience I had ever had getting my hair done EXACTLY the way that I had asked and tried to describe wanting it done. With the information you give her about you want is important --- but if I didn't know better I swear Jessie is a mind reader. She knew exactly what I was looking for and I felt transformed into a confident person, ready to take on the world and after that first visit with her I was hooked. Like I said, I've never gone to another salon/stylist/colorist/Master of all things hair for ANYTHING --- EVER again. I trust her completely. I had high expectations from Jessie Leigh when she announced the opening of Blush, but when I went in and saw it for the first time I was still completely blown away. Welcomed with any beverage I wanted, I chose a mimosa and felt like I was being super pampered from the get go. I felt like I was in such a soft welcoming zen place where everything from the colors to the furniture to the paintings on the walls to the art in the bathroom to her obviously high end tools and stations and products made me feel like I was EXISTING in CASHMERE. A lot of people say your hair stylist/colorist is like your therapist because when you are getting a complicated cut or coloring done, it takes time. The same is absolutely true for Jessie Leigh. She never lets you feel out of place or like an annoyance no matter what you're bringing up, and even better, she shares with you about herself as well. She truly makes every visit feel like you are visiting a best friend --- if that's what you want. I used to be super quiet in salons and sat there awkwardly for the first few years Jessie did my hair, and she was super comfortable working on me that way as well. At my visit at Blush, feeling more at home than other places in the past, she was giddy and excited about making my wish happen --- which she did. Her passion is inspiring. My time with her always builds confidence. Additionally, anyone who gets their hair colored like I do (more than one color and sometimes extremely complex and difficult expectations of a certain unique look), knows it can be a LONG process. At Blush, I didn't have to wait 8 hours to get everything done. Jessie was efficient and excited for me to see the results of what I asked for (as she always has been in the past), but now that she is the Owner, she was on fire! I couldn't believe how good she made me look. I've had medium brown to darker hair my whole life and I decided I wanted to be blonde at least once. She pulled it off LIKE a BOSS. I couldn't imagine blonde working with my skin tone, but by the time she was done, we both agreed that maybe I was always meant to be a blonde! That's how good it looked. All her. I have truly never had a bad experience with her and I call her "The Master" which makes her blush so I guess aside from all of the other reasons, the name of this salon is extremely fitting. Bottom line is that you will NOT regret your visit. I could not recommend her and the people working with her more highly. She has a gift without needing to be a perfectionist --- perfection just comes naturally to her. She has reasonable prices and is honest and knowledgeable about every single product in and out of her shop. There's no one better. I have another appointment coming up in early March and I CANNOT WAIT just to go there again! If that's not worth checking out, I don't know what is in this business.
