The owner Paula is confrontational and argumentative. There is no sharing your displeasure with her at the "time of the appointment." I did and it got me no where fast.  She is a "right" fighter and is highly unprofessional to boot.  I was rushed by Danielle all throughout my appointment and came out of the salon with color ALL over my face and frizzy hair after a complete waste of my time and money blow out. One and done!!! I do not know who this other person the owner is alluding to is and I feel horrible that somehow the pathetic owner of Fama Salon, Paula Figueiredo, is attributing my review to her and scapegoating this unknowing person. So far so good! I came into FAMA in search of a new hairstyling family. Making an appointment was absolutely easy, I messaged them through Yelp and they answered promptly and scheduled me within a week. Danielle. Is. The. BEST. I absolutely loved her. My appointment was for 1pm, I got there a few minutes early and she was waiting for me. The hair product line is great too. I believe it's called Milkshake and it's a UK brand, smells so good and left my hair so so so soft for days. My appointment was easy that day - a simple trim and I asked her to simply blow dry it. I was looking for a salon in the area. I picked this place because it had good reviews. I can definitely see why it has 5 stars. They were on time with my appointment, the customer service was exceptional. And of course my cut and blow dry was exactly as I wanted. My ends were so dead and I needed a trim with long layers in the front. That's exactly what I got. I'm picky with salons because my hair is textured and naturally curly and I have had horrible experiences where someone doesn't know how to handle/cut/blow dry my hair. But this place was great. This place is great ! I called in asking for a last minute appointment and they were able to squeeze me in ! I got a haircut and blowout which I'm absolutely in love with! It makes me look younger and it just fits my face! My stylist was Danielle and she was super friendly and professional, she listened to what I wanted and was able to cut my hair to my needs. Definitely going back here !!! Oh and the prices are very reasonable! For my haircut and blowdry , I paid $45 which isn't bad at all! I was looking for a new salon that was close to my house and stumbled across FAMA on Yelp. I called in hopes of getting a same day appointment and was so happy to hear they could accommodate me. Paula cut around 5 inches of my hair, adding in beautiful layers and blow dried it perfectly. I've never liked a haircut so much in my life. The salon is nicely decorated and VERY clean. I came here based on all the positive reviews and I was a little disappointed. The salon itself is nice and my stylist was nice but my hair is just nothing like I wanted. I will start off by saying that I was 10 minutes late as I was stuck in traffic, which I called to let her know and she said no problem. If the timing was going to throw off my appointment, I would much rather have been told to reschedule. I felt slightly rushed and not super comfortable being a new client. I asked for color that was a little lighter but richer than the color I went in with, but I ended up with hair that is almost black. For reference my hair when I went in was a medium brown. I tried to wash it a few times with clarifying shampoo but it didn't help much. Then it was raining that day so I put my hair back when I left but after I washed and blowdried my hair I found that there is one random small chunk of hair that is longer than the rest of my hair and super noticeable when in a ponytail. The cut I obviously didn't notice until l later, and the color I disliked immediately however I didn't feel comfortable enough to speak up at the time. I didn't even have time to go somewhere else to have it fixed because I was leaving on vacation that week. I'm mainly disappointed because I took family photos while on vacation and I didn't like my hair at all so I feel like they were ruined. I liked my hair much better before I went in and had anything done. I just wish I could have had a positive experience like so many others. read more

I was recommended this place by a friend since I am new to the area and long overdue for a cut. At home, I pay over 100 dollars for a wash, cut and style/dry and have notoriously difficult hair to deal with so I was a bit nervous since I did not know what to expect here. I had a very easy time making an appointment and heard back via email almost instantly. The location is super convenient with plenty of parking. The inside is elegantly decorated. Danielle was super sweet and asked exactly what I wanted and very useful in offering suggestions. I opted for a simple trim of the dead ends and thinning out my super thick hair. Since it was raining outside, I opted against blowdrying and she applied product to my hair. 30 mins after I walked in, I was thinned, trimmed and tamed. My cost was 40 dollars total. My hair stylist is Danielle, and while she is the only hair stylist that's done my hair at FAMA all the hair stylist that work there are very lovely and professional and their clients always look great when they leave. My hair journey goes way back, I've had many hair colors throughout my life but I've always wanted that sassy ass blonde margarita drinking yoga doing hair color. However, because I am a natural brunette who is Spanish, so my hair pulls very brassy. Me being the person that I am, I was like oh no, I'm gonna get my blonde no matter what. Ladies, my hair was previously red so on my reddish brownish hair I bleached it with a (read many) box from the drug store. I wrapped my hair in a plastic bag to produce heat so I wouldn't have to leave the bleach on for so long. I can hear some of you gasping and fainting as I type this. Thank god for my thick hair because it did not fall out. But it was an odd mismatch of colors. I was so sad but afraid of getting it corrected. I knew I messed up but I didn't want to be ridiculed for my mistakes. I found Danielle in an Ulta, (I actually followed Danielle from Ulta to FAMA) and she was so lovely and sweet. She saw my hair and I swear she had to keep herself from screaming but reassured me she could help me. She set up my appointment and it took her HOURS day of, (I may have been her only appointment,) to fix my hair. She got my mismatched tie dye hair into one unison healthy color of a dark blonde. I recently went to her at FAMA where she did some balayage highlights and its just the prettiest color! Bottom line: if you'd like a salon where there are hair stylists who will work with your wants in a realistic way while also making sure your hair is healthy, this is the place for you! Decided to try this place for a haircut. My regular girl moved too far for me to follow with my schedule and hers. I am SO HAPPY that I did. I've now been twice for a haircut with Jessica, and it is a great cut. She listened to what I wanted, and even made certain suggestions. I got the smoothing keratin treatment for my hair, as well as a haircut. My hair is normally super frizzy!!! After waiting a day to wash my hair I washed, dried, and straightened it. I then stayed outside for hours in the sun. My hair would have normally been a giant frizz ball but with the treatment it stayed straight with NO FRIZZ. I LOVE my haircut! Jessica and Paula are the sweetest stylists I've met thus far. I'm lazy when it comes to hair maintenance; I only get my hair cut once a year. I really wanted to like this salon because it received great reviews on google and is close to home. However, went there twice (was seen the first time by Patty, the owner) and then Claudia and I was very disappointed both times. I have blond hair and it seems as though this salon doesnt know how to handle blond hair. I asked for a nice ashy tone blond and provided pictures of what I meant. Both times, my hair turned out yellow, not what I had communicated. Also, I have short hair and received a "mom" haircut both times, despite showing pictures of exactly what I wanted my haircut to look like. When I asked Claudia to fix it more the second time, angling it more in the front, she worsened it by making it even more straight with no angle. Not going back to this place again. read more

I have been going to FAMA since it was Salon 365 in Roselle Park. When I moved to the area a little over two years ago, I was desperate to find a new salon that was local. On the recommendation of a friend, I went into the salon. I now refuse to go anywhere else. Their services are affordable and Paula and Jessica are both amazing! I have had a variety of color on my hair and have loved every one of them. I am VERY particular about who cuts my hair, as I have had bad experiences with some very scissor happy people.
