Haircut
Giselle M.

I just had my second appointment with Lily and it was incredible! The first time, she worked wonders on my hair when I attended a wedding (first photo), and this time I went for a haircut (second photo). Lily is an absolute pro. She's gentle, attentive, and incredibly skilled. She really listens to what I want and has such a great personality.

My hair after

EDIT: I previously reviewed the salon poorly due to a bad experience I had (copied below) but I am amending my review to reflect the swift action taken by the salon to rectify the situation and their sincere apology and validation of my feelings. This is how you do good business. Thank you Vida Artistry!!! I fully believe this was an unlucky one-off situation due to the stylist and not the salon overall. Original Review: I visited Vida Artistry Salon for a balayage with Fernanda on 4/5 and though I usually don't write reviews, especially critical ones, I feel like I have to share my experience in hopes it will save someone else. Upon arrival, Fernanda remarked at the beauty of my natural hair color, which is a deep strawberry blonde. I shared how much I love my natural color and that it has taken me years to finally take the plunge and lighten it - I was doing so because I'll be serving as maid of honor in my best friend's wedding in 2 weeks. I told her how much I love my natural color and that I was hoping to keep the balayage in my natural color family. I also told her how long I had been growing out my hair and how proud I was at its length because for the past few years I had been suffering with a medical condition that made my hair fall out. I asked to keep my hair as long as possible (we agreed on 1-2" removed), showed her an inspiration photo, and asked how much I would be charged. She quoted me a price of $350-400, depending on how much product she used, with an additional $15 for a pre-bleaching hair treatment she recommended. I agreed and she started foiling me. I was concerned at the speed she was foiling me, as I have gotten balayages many times, years ago, but I kept quiet because I felt she was an expert and the reviews / photos from the salon were beautiful. It was when she took off the foils I knew I had made a mistake. The pieces that framed my face were all white - fully bleached of any color at all and I could see my hair was fried. What brought me to the verge of tears was during and after the hair wash. Fernanda was SO rough with my hair. She vigorously washed the bleach out and when she was ready to add toner she took a brush to my wet (bleach fried) hair and started brushing from the roots out. My hair was matted, knotty, and dead, and every rip of the brush through my hair was excruciating. I could not handle the damage I knew was being done to my hair, so I asked if she could instead brush the knots out from the ends first and work her way up. She totally dismissed me by saying she had to get the knots from the root of my hair, and I suffered through as she continued to rip through my hair with her brush, roots first. I sat there with tears in my eyes waiting for it to be over, lamenting the breakage of the hair I had worked so hard to keep healthy. This happened twice - once before and once after toning. Once back in the chair for the haircut, she chopped away. I told her I was interested in light layers and curtain bangs and when she cut my bangs she dragged the scissors across my hair like you would cut wrapping paper (no snipping). The only thing was, the scissors didn't glide like they would have with wrapping paper, they ripped my hair all the way down. Again: excruciating pain by her hand. It was SO uncomfortable I was about to start crying. When she went to add layers to my hair, she again gathered my hair in the center and brushed my wet hair roots first. When she gathered enough hair to add layers, she chopped a large chunk of hair off which fell onto my chest and I looked at it and freaked out - she had cut off ~4 inches. She laughed and said "are you afraid?". YES, I WAS. I spent YEARS growing my hair out, and I had told her that! My hair is now choppy and the layers are so high that I have set myself back all those years of growth. Before she finished the cut she dried my hair and it was here I finally saw how horrible her balayage technique was, and how extremely off the color was from what I asked for. My entire front side, my curtain bangs and below my hairline, was bleached white without nuance or variation. All my hair was very ashy - nowhere close to my original strawberry blonde, nor the picture I had shown her. She then grabbed my bangs again to make sure they were even and, even though my hair was now dry, she again SLID THE SCISSORS OVER MY HAIR TO CUT IT, ripping it all the way down. IT WAS SO PAINFUL I finally spoke up and said "PLEASE do not do that again". She again dismissed me, pushed back, and said "I have to make sure it is even" and I said firmly "I don't care if it isn't even, DO NOT DO THAT AGAIN. I will live with uneven hair, I will not go through that again." On the way to my appointment I was smiling and SO excited to be treating myself to a hair makeover. My long, beautiful, healthy hair now feels like straw. The worst part is, despite being quoted $350-400, she charged me $440. What a huge disappointment.

Hair by Sam.

Amazing hair for a special occasion. Sam rocked it! It was such a hot day out and I needed my hair to look on point for an event in the City. I called the same day and was able to get an appt. I wanted to look polished with a good blowout and also glam. I also wanted a cute side braid. Sam was my stylist. She suggested we leave my hair wavy but smooth due to the humidity. I love the look! Definitely recommend Sam and Vida Artistry!!

Hair before
Briana W.

I called and asked about an all over color appt, they fit me in within the week which was awesome! The parking situation was a little small, but it's not their fault on that part. I was able to get a spot and there is other parking available nearby. Inside is clean, bright, and welcoming. I was offered water, coffee, and snacks multiple times which was very courteous of the staff. I have never gotten my hair colored before and this definitely eased my anxiety. I worked with Lily to get my hair colored. I sent her some inspiration pictures. She was attentive, showed me what she was thinking, showed me colors she was going to mix, and answered any of my questions during the appointment. I went from a darker blonde/brown to a dark auburn and fell in LOVE!!! She matched the picture I was looking for, added depth and life to my hair. She was great to talk to and attentive the entire appt. I will definitely be back and would recommend this place and Lily to everyone!!

Color and cut by Ashley!

This place is amazing. I'm very particular with my hair and Ashley slays my cut and color each time! The entire staff is always so kind and friendly. So glad to have this place in town.

First two pictures are my hair before they did it. I asked for highlights to meet my root and match the bottom of my hair
Karlie B.

I called this salon and asked the price for a full head of highlights. I was told $130. The receptionist didn't say "starting at" or "$130 and up" or anything like that. I made an appointment for the next day, I got my hair done and I ended up being charged $268! I felt like I should've been notified on each add on product she was using on my hair, and I wasn't. I left there thinking my hair was a good color but when I got into a different light I was overall darker but went in to be lighter. I had dark roots and very light ends and wanted the highlight to meet my root without becoming platinum blonde. I called back to speak about the price jumping up an extra $140 dollars and they basically told me that I needed 3 bowls of bleach, 3 bowls of some oil for protect my hair, a toner, and a blowout. I have medium thick hair and only armpit length and I've been getting my hair done for 10+ years and have never used 3 bowls of bleach, and i have NEVER spent more then $230 (including tip) on my hair. After freaking out about the price I was told I'd get a call back from the owner/manager and I actually didn't...I had to call them back the next day. The stylist was a very sweet person over all but told me to come back in and she will wash out the toner. When I went back she told me that she didn't think she could ever make me happy with whatever she does to my hair and that she was mad that this happened. I felt like that was unprofessional to tell a client when they are unhappy with the "professional" service they are supposed to be providing. After she took the toner off I was told it was the lightest, "goldest" I would get before turning orange and that she will not re-bleach my hair to help me get lighter. So we told her it was perfect and now I have to go somewhere else and pay AGAIN to get the lightness I originally wanted. Staff was sweet as can be, but they were not very informative on pricing, or what they are doing to your hair and what products you have to pay extra for. In response to your reply: I never ever said "tough shit" to hearing you were in the hospital. Maybe you should re-review the footage from your cameras, that I requested several times from your staff and was denied, and consider recording the phone calls that come through your salon before you respond to a yelp review with false information. I would like to know where in that footage you felt the need to have your staff have the police escort me or my mother. Feel free to post the footage or email it to me as I requested. Also, I understand you have the pricing information on your website, however your receptionist should be competent enough to reiterate what is on the website or, at the very least direct me to the website for further information. I was going to get my hair done, not write a research paper that would require me to look further when she should've given me all the information. Again, would love to see this footage or recording of the phone calls that I requested from your staff to show that I didn't act in the degrading manner that you are saying I did.

The after

This salon provided an experience that literally left me speechless. The whole salon was a welcoming team and were professional from the beginning with the booking and confirmation, I was seen right away! Mary Ann legit asked a trillion questions which left me in awe on her knowledge, confidence and also skill level. She took my curls from limp, dull to bouncy, vivid and breath taking. She gave me a head of high lights, curly cut and styled me and I can't stop swing my hair back and fourth. Mary Ann surpassed my expectations and she's a true gem here! Deff returning! Thank you so much!

They do great bobs!
Olivia M.

I've been here two times so far and both times I left very happy. I can't remember the name of the lady who originally cut my hair to a bob at this salon but she did an excellent job shaping my hair which was quite short at the time and making it look great. Yesterday I got my hair cut again by the owner Vanessa who was extremely personable and did a wonderful job cutting my hair after an unfortunate DIY at home bleach job left me with crispy ends. She gave me recommendations on how to care my hair before my next appointment to even out my hair color.

My saved glorious hair. (After I of course messed up the blow out at home)
